Kay McCabe would love to get rid of the Harvest Gold toilet in her front yard. It belongs to the two old Lutheran ladies who moved in with her after a tornado blew their house apart. They brought the toilet, along with a truckload of junk, a lifetime of opinions, and an introduction to a romantic, dark-eyed, Mediterranean man. When Kay’s job falls off an economic cliff, she desperately tries to save her house from the bank. The old women help—with thinly-veiled advice about her new job at a bar and her mysterious romance. Perhaps she should listen to them, especially when Kay finds herself avoiding family and handcuffed by the police. Fortunately, the feisty old church women are there to manipulate her, fight with her, and prop her up. And best of all, like true Lutheran ladies, they’ll even plant flowers in a Harvest Gold toilet while helping her through life’s knotholes.

This book spoke to me as did the first in the series. Got a little more detective (police) in it, but still some amazing wisdom and deep thoughts. I needed it.

Cozy

A good read for curling up and forgetting everyday “stuff”. Plot developed well, as did characters. Will be looking for another in the series. Perhaps not great literature, but wonderful escapism.

Enjoyable & easy read

Fun characters, light yet thought provoking also. I read the 1 st book and enjoyed how this book built more on the characters. I am starting the next book soon. I’m enjoying the series.

This was a good book full of good Christian wisdom. Parts of it seemed choppy and hard to read, and sometimes I was angry with Kay McCabe because of her whining. But, through it all, it was an easy read.

The book was good! At times I struggled to follow where the story was going. I definitely felt closer to the characters this time around. The ending was a doozy!!

I enjoyed it but not as must as book 1.
Book 1 revolved around the Church & seasonal activities.
This book revolved mostly around the bar.
It wasn't uplifting and funny like book 1.
It was dark.
HOWEVER I wanted more of the characters so I stuck with it.
Please go back to the Church in book 3.
Crossing fingers there will be a book 3. :-)

It is a fun little series. I recognize most of the characters as people I also know. I enjoyed the character Kay in this book more than the other characters. Aunt Ula wears a little thin sometimes. Most of the characters are very superficial or shallow, but the author got a little deeper in Kay's character in Through the Knothole.

Different kind of sequel

Sequel starts where the last book ends. Only its turns out to be a mystery and adventure. The other book WS the church ladies liturgical her in the church. It was still entertaining but surprisingly different as well.

I'm enjoying the Lutheran Ladies Circle series. This one centers on Kay, who has taken in two friends after a tornado destroys their home, and who's trying to juggle her job, parenting, and a possible romance with a man other people tell her she can't trust.
