Life is seemingly normal for Sarah Swanson until she reaches the first day of her senior year of high school. Adopted as a baby, Sarah never felt out of place. Until she started having strong curiosity about her heritage and her biological mother. With only a commonly known name to go off of, Sarah’s search for her heritage gets put on the back burner due to life’s changes.

Then we get thrown 5 years into the future and our FMC is now a nurse, 23 years old, living with a long term boyfriend, and no longer settling into life so her story continues. Will she be able to confront her true self should she continue her search?

As she attends a patient something unbelievable happens and after this Sarah’s life is propelled into chaos. Soon she finds herself lost and scared. Join her on this wild ride if you’re looking for a small town monster feature that will leave you yearning for more. I thoroughly enjoyed this short story and needed a bit of feminine rage to satiate my need!

P.S., this story is set in my hometown!

"Heritage" by Branson M. Smith

🫣It was absolutely a wild ride! This dazzling horror story kept me in suspense until the very end.

🐺The Plot: We first meet Sarah Swanson when she is a girl, who is curious about her heritage. Sarah is an adopted child and has a pretty happy life with her parents and best friend. The older she becomes, the stronger her will to find her true parents. She starts her little investigation, which leads to more questions. Moreover, Sarah starts observing some blood-freezing changes in herself as she steps into the grown-up life. Everything is getting more and more complicated, dangerous, and fatal with every single move.

🐺The Writing Style: This is my second book by this author, and it was absolutely glorious. The writing style is easy, pleasurable to read, and dynamic. The book is rich in unexpected, creepy, dark turns and twists, and keeps the reader in suspense from cover to cover. "Heritage" is another captivating, dark, bloody-freezing page-turner by Branson M. Smith.

🐺The Characters: There are not so many characters in the book, but all of them are depicted pretty well to establish an emotional connection with them. Their appearance and features brilliantly reflect their personalities. I can't help but mention that the description of the horror creature was perfect; I visualized it perfectly.

🥰Would I read other books by this author: yes!

✨My humble rating is: 5/5

📖P.S. Heritage reminded me a bit of the Grimm series. So, if you enjoyed watching this glorious series, you will definitely enjoy reading this book.

📖I sincerely hope you'll enjoy reading "Heritage" by Branson M. Smith as much as I did.

🙏🏼Anyway, thank you so much for dropping by and reading this review.

📖Stay safe, take care, and happy reading.

What a unique plot line. I loved that the monster wasn’t your typical monster that we see a lot in romance books. At least not the ones that I have read. I really liked the plot line, I just wish it would have moved a little faster. The first four chapters are very repetitive but once you get through those, you’re golden. I liked the little bit of spice put in, it wasn’t overwhelming and there was a specific scene that was also super unique and had my jaw on the floor while reading it. This book could technically be called a monster romance, even though there isn’t a whole lot of spice and the monster doesn’t come into the story right away. Loved the plot twist. The suspense and horror was written really well. Loved the foreshadowing. Sometimes, the word usage could get a little repetitive with reusing the same words over and over again but overall, it was a good read and I’d like to see more of this story.

I like a book that makes me ask…. What the heck?! Haha. And this book does just that. It’s a quick read and just like his other book disappearance of Cassandra Pruitt, I still think about it. What the heck does she turn into?! I know, but you can find out too if you stop reading this review and go read the book for yourself. ;)

Second book I’ve read from this author and the horror didnt stop!

Sarah is adopted and wants to find her birth parents she has been trying for years but nothing came about… but odd things begin happening.

The descriptions gave the perfect images of the characters and creatures.

Her life becomes wild and you don’t expect what happens
