The group take to the road in an effort to stay safe, and decide there is one thing missing - guns. No easy thing to obtain in the strictly controlled UK.
So the mission is planned, the sandwiches are made, the new transport revved up.
Only problem is the infected are getting smart, the world continues to degenerate, and they haven't counted on the beginnings of the hivemind.
I was expecting something totally different then what I got from this. The story was beyond slow, it meandered around without any real life. This is a zombie story and you see one at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end but nothing really ground breaking. The characters are about he same as they always been and I would have expected some growth since the last time but they seem a bit stagnant. There are some new locations which are interesting and the situations are new enough to at least keep you moving forward. The main problem is that things just seem to be moving at a snails pace and it drags to much.
The massacre at the manor house has left everyone with a desire to not be in one place. In order to facilitate their desire to be out in the open Kyle and Al go and find the perfect vehicle, a retro travel bus which they name Basil.During her time online, before the Botnet, Ven had come across Sec UK which is a company that provided weapons and survival gear to not only countries but to individuals as well. She and her cohorts along with baby Tomas and Bos Bos the dog go there to stock up.
While they are doing this something strange happens that transforms a man into an entirely different type of zombie. This zombie has found them and cannot decide whether to eat them or beg them for help. This zombie can think and that is not good for anyone.
While I was not completely happy about how things went here I am still hoping the next one will be better. If you read the first two books you have to read this to continue the story and move on to the next.
Alpha Zombie is the third book in the Zombie Botnet series from Al K. Line. In the first book, a Twitter virus crafted by the main Character Ven is released, resulting in an unintended result...zombies! The story continues as Ven, Kyle, baby Tomas, Al, and cheese-sandwich loving pooch Boscoe fight to survive the chaos.
I find this series to be adorable. I think the concept is genius, and the author has found a great rhythm with his comedic relief. My favorite characters remain Al and the dog. Adding a sex bus into the mix makes it tat much more entertaining.
This installment, the author brings forth an antagonist, which is new...considering the main antagonist throughout the series has been the zombies themselves. This new addition, half man, half zombie, adds some depth to the series. That being said, this is not your average zombie book by any means. The mood remains easy-breezy, not a small feat in a zompoc piece of fiction.
I hate to do it, but as a reviewer I need to give my honest opinion. I noticed something in this book that I hadn't in the others. Al, is a strange fella, his autism makes him quirky. Which I love. However, much of the dialog - even that of the other characters - seems to be taking on the Al-esque feel. It was difficult to discern who was speaking, because the Al diction seemed to bleed into other characters. Which makes it less of a treat and more cumbersome. My only suggestion for the author would be to pay attention to this and ensure there is a differentiation between characters.
I'm excited to see what's next. This is a series I will continue on with, because it is fun, fast, and unique.
I was given this copy in return for an honest review from the author.
Another winner from Mr. Line! I was one of the lucky few to win the first story in this series, and I have been hooked since. The story keeps getting better, the characters are hilarious, and the writing is just great. I only saw like 3 words misspelled, but they in no way detracted from the enjoyment of the story.
If you are looking for some good zombie fun from across "The Pond" then pick up Al K Line's Zombie Botnet series!
