Farewell Fairwood #2

Hypothetical Heart

Rate this book
Winnie Carter has always been the perfect girl-next-door, with a big heart and a soft demeanor, who dreams of dancing for a renowned company one day. With graduation on the horizon, and the grief of losing her mother still lingering, there is no room to face the reality of what’s happening between her and Logan, her childhood best friend who’s always been there. But as they prepare to leave for college, her feelings for Logan have started to shift into something more serious–something that could change everything, making her wonder what will happen when they leave their hometown behind.

Logan Callaghan is defined by love. In fact, he has loved Winnie for as long as anyone can remember. Now, with their senior year coming to an end, and their last summer together slipping away, the clock is ticking. As their connection deepens, Logan is torn between the fear of losing his best friend and the hope of something more. With the future approaching, Logan must decide if he’s willing to risk everything for the chance to finally hold Winnie’s heart.

Among all the speculation, the one thing the town of Fairwood doesn’t know is that three years ago, there was a brief time period where Winnie and Logan were together before it all went up in flames. In the town where memories linger and every street corner holds a piece of their past, Winnie and Logan must confront their fears, old wounds, and the undeniable truth that their hearts have always been intertwined. But will they risk their friendship for true love despite the fears? Best friends on the edge of something more, caught between reality and Hypothetical Hearts.

1.75⭐️ I rly pushed through to finish this (survivor fr) in all honesty the mcs were cute but the book felt disjointed. maybe if the author had wrote it more as a novella w less pages it would have been better. 😔

okay okay okay, this book??? SO STINKIN CUTE?! I would like to preface this review by saying yes this series is going to be interconnected stand alones BUT you need to read these books in order as they overlap events, go back in time and refer to the first book a lot. so in order to more deeply understand the book you will have to read the first book first. SO, Winnie and Logan... where to even start, I LOVE THEM? they are childhood friends to lovers and Logan is literally the most patient man on the planet? Winnie goes through something really traumatic at the beginning and it makes her wait on being fully with Logan, but itS WORTH THE WAIT. they are so cute together, logan is so in tune with winnie and so obsessed with her.

you all need to read book one (which is academic rivals) and then pick this up asap!!! 🩷

I was so excited to be given an arc of this book and to jump back into the world of Fairwood. Winnie and Logan are childhood friends who have been attached at the hip and almost everyone in town wonders why they aren’t together. Even though they are quite obvious about their feelings for each other, we are shown a deeper meaning for the two to remain friends. I would highly recommend reading the first book in the series, To Lose or to Love, just so you aren’t lost when diving into this book with so many characters and how they’re connected through relationships.

Winnie and Logan’s relationship is something many people dream of, in terms of being childhood best friends before they begin their relationship. We all want for our significant other to be our best friend and someone we always want to be around, even through the hard times. I could literally feel their love for each other flowing out of my screen while reading this book. Logan is a perfect book boyfriend and I definitely wish I could have my own irl.

I read this book in one sitting and I was kicking my feet in the air the whole time. It was a quick and easy read that didn’t require much brain power from me. I really liked how flashbacks were included to just see more of Winnie and Logan’s relationship and how it grew. It gave a lot of different perspectives on why they were both holding back for so long. I am a sucker for childhood friends to lovers and will pick up any book with this trope, so if you are the same way I would highly recommend this one. Such a cute and fun read!

Such a cute little book and it’s an interesting dynamic between characters that I haven’t read before, they were childhood friends but knew they had a crush on each other and were just waiting for the ‘perfect time’ which could’ve and should’ve annoyed me but it didn’t and it was actually really interesting the whole time. I think there were some odd scenes that yk maybe could’ve been removed for my own sanity but win some lose some I guess. The only other thing about this author is that sometimes she will reference something and then never mention it again which sometimes annoys me, in the first book and this one we hear about some guy that wrongs Genevieve and like I want to know more so I have someone to hate. Maybe it’ll be addressed in the third book like how they skipped prom in the first book but put it in here but oh well. Overall pretty fun but I did like the first one better.

I seriously loved this book so much and I can’t believe how addicted I was to reading it. It seriously has everything I love from the found family to the friends to lovers to the childhood best friends to the neighbors bit and god this is like lily and lo from addicted but more pg and nothing about addictions — like no joke the part where they are in there restaurant for Luke’s birthday was giving the SAME VIBE as the scene with lily and lo at a restaurant and lo ordered the most expensive wine off the menu

- obsessed (not in a weird way) ✔
- reads Winnie's romance books ✔

- patiently waits for winnie to love him back ✔
- calls winnie "sweetheart" and "honey" ✔
at this point, i'm on my knees for logan. he's perfect in every way you can imagine! 🙇
winnie is amazing, i love her sooooo much!! she's me in a romance book! she reads romance books, loves pink and bows, we're twins!!

I would have given this a 1 if Winnie and Logan weren’t so cute. The first 70% of the book is drawn out with the will they won’t they. I almost DNF’d multiple times. The pay off was okay and expected however I enjoyed seeing a little bit more of the other couples in the friend group (Gen and Jameson). Overall it was an okay read, not my favorite by any means. The book could’ve been about 100 pages shorter.

This was such a cute read. Really a coming of age story between two best friends (Winnie and Logan) who both want to be together but just aren’t ready yet.
The book progresses through their senior year of high school into university and you get to see their dynamic with their wonderful friend group also.

If you love cutesy academic (contemporary) romance you will like this.

Flew through the first 100 pages and had such high hopes but lost momentum in the middle and then there were too many time jumps and it felt rushed…
