You ever found a book which had the perfect writing, characters and love 💕 This is one of them.
I had been eagerly waiting for Book 2 and it surpassed my expectations. I love how Brooke writes, the way she makes the characters' feelings so real, and the way the plot of the book is always so different.
Kudos for also including disability rep, as that somehow brought the story even closer to my heart.
Book 3 is scheduled in 2026 and I am counting the days!!!
“I love you with my entire soul. All the broken pieces.”
* These siblings are so fun 😂 * Ew hate him * Poor Philip! * Loving all this foreshadowing to future books hehe * Annette and the lieutenant are too good hehe * The dancing! 😭🫶 * Awww, Philip, you sweetie! * Oh man, I would die of embarrassment * Oh I HATE him! * They are just calling each other OUT! * RUS! 😭🫶😭🫶 * YES! Go Philip! * YES! x2 * Oh man 😂 * Awwww!
Okay SO cute! I loved both Grace and Philip right from the start. The story was so touching while also being sweet and hilarious. Plus the whole Apsley family is just too good 😂
“My new client stepped forward, scooped up my hand, and placed a short kiss on my glove. The action released a horde of butterflies in my stomach. That was not very business-like.”
Grace is such a warrior! I loved how fierce and independent she was despite her struggles. But I also loved watching her realize where she was also wrong, and learning how to grow and change.
“Anyone who would judge me poorly for an ailment beyond my control is not someone worth having in my life anyway.”
And oh, Philip. What a tender sweetie! I loved him. He was truly just trying so hard to make the best of a horrible situation. And I loved that he got to realize that love is worth the risk! That he was worthy of happiness just as much as anyone else.
“Love knew no constraints. It found people no matter their station or struggles. Why had I believed I was different in this regard?”
These two were so sweet together and I loved watching them realize their feelings and have to figure out how to navigate that. Plus, who doesn’t like a good matchmaking story?
“You taught me what love truly is not by finding my perfect match, but by being my perfect match.”
So good! 100% recommend! Thank you to the author for the ebook, all opinions are my own.
Mr. Perry is a ruthless businessman with a tyrannical hold over his few relations; he reducing them to pawns in his schemes. When his daughter disgraces herself and loses her value to him, he drags his nephew, Phillip Montfert, from obscurity and thrusts him into society- inexperienced and unprepared.
Every misstep is met with scorn. Mr. Perry belittles Phillip never failing to mention his impairment and threaten him with disinheritance, condemning him and his mother to poverty unless he secures a wife who meets an impossible list of requirements.
Assistance comes through a new friend whose cousin, Grace Scott, has quietly taken up matchmaking. Suffering from a childhood injury and aware of society’s opinion for imperfection, Grace has accepted she may never marry. Instead, inspired by romantic novels and her helpful hand in the marriage of her sister to the Earl of Emerson, she seeks purpose, while enjoying as much of her season as possible, in helping others find matches.
Her first client is none other than Mr. Perry’s nephew—and cousin to the very woman who once schemed to entrap her now brother-in-law and held her in servitude sister under blackmail. As unexpected affection grows, they struggle to remain professional when their easy relationship strengthens their fondness. Mr. Perry makes his disapproval clear—declaring Grace entirely unsuitable but many find themselves weary of his control and unlikely bonds and alliances are made in an effort to liberate all affected by his machinations.
I really enjoyed spending my time in this story with these characters. The epilogue was such a sweet added bonus!
This was one of those book that I never wanted to end. 💔 I absolutely loved the first in the series, but this one somehow topped that one!
I adored Grace from book 1, so I couldn't wait for her story! And I always enjoy a book that has matchmaking, so that made this one extra good. In so many ways, Philip was the absolute perfect match. 🩷 They helped each other through their each struggles, Grace being her leg, and Phillip partially deaf. This book brought tears to my eyes so many times, as I relate to Grace so much. I also have a limp from health problems, so I understand that broken feeling she talks about. And so many things in this book Phillip said to Grace, were just what I needed to hear. 🩷
This one takes so many twists and turns, and many moments you'll wonder how it'll all come together in the end and work out, but oh it really does, absolutely beautifully. 🩷 I also loved the side characters, so I'm so excited for the next book in the series!!
If you enjoy clean, closed-door sweet regency romance, then I highly recommend this one!! 🩷
*I received an e-ARC copy, all opinions are my own
Oh do I love this series! These books can be read as standalones reads, even though some of the characters were mentioned in previous books. So it's not necessary to have read the previous ones but I strongly recommend you do!
Grace might be "handicapped" she has a weak leg but she doesn't let that hold her down, she knows her limitations and works round them. She was a character who's strength, who's resilience, captured me the first time I was introduced to her. I was beyond thrilled to see the author "gave" her her own book. With her sister safely, and happily, married, Grace has gone to living with her guardian, Rowe and family. Russell is divine, he's kind and caring and wants only one best for Grace but Grace is proud, Grace doesn't want to be a burden on anyone so she decides it's time to earn a living, to be independent. She's not looking forward to her first season in London, she dislikes the pomp and because of her weak leg, finds it taxing. Now, bearing in mind, in Regency Britain, this wasn't the norm, and convinced her impediment would leave her unmarried, Grace secretly starts a matchmaking service.
Oh gosh do I love Grace's cousins! Annette is a rather...ummm...forceful personality, and Russell is, geez, I'm not sure how to describe Russell! He's unconventional, and almost nonchalant in attitude, he's just so cool though, he loves winding up his sister, he doesn't believe anyone should "fit the mold" which is why he encourages grace with her her new endeavour. He even gets her her first client, a certain Phillip Montfert....now here's a character you'd want to enfold in a fierce hug! Beholden to his vile uncle, Phillip does whatever needs doing to maintain his prospective position of heir. Not for himself, he really is by no means selfish, but for the sake of his mother, he cannot bear the idea she might be destitute if he doesn't acquiesce to every whim his uncle spews forth. One of the demands is a marriage, within the present season and only to a young lady of said uncle's choosing. Yes, tough ask indeed! Phillip is shy and reserved, Phillip loathes the pretentious nature of society but conform he must... while keeping his sanity intact, as well as his hearing impediment secret. He just wasn't prepared for what followed...The beauty of it Grace and Phillip's romance is some of the sweetest prose I've read.
If we're taking characters, Ms Losee has me hook, line and sinker vested in them, she gently shows us all aspects to them, making them remarkable in their own way, heck, she had me LIKING a character I despised from an earlier book who made a vital appearance here. The seemingly peripheral characters are interwoven splendidly into the plot, I truly am interested in ALL of them, I'd love a story for each of them... Particularly a certain lieutenant and ....not gonna tell you, but I WANT IT! As I do a story on Rowe...I'm ready to do a Dandy Doodle jig with the feels this book wraps me in. I must comment on how exceptionally Brooke highlights disabilities with such sensitivity, again, completely realistic and feasible.
This esteemed author enlivens her characters, enlivens the time period, enlivens and enhances a rigid world that I personally find fascinating. But what I find even more fascinating is HOW well the author conveys it all, how well she infuses all of her stories with realism, comedy, angst, a dilemma or two and even throws in a mystery to unravel! I swear she took a time capsule to this period... It's seamless. Effortless. Efficient. Exceptional. Scene by scene I'm drawn further and further in, act by act, I'm rooting, cheering and smiling... And when she graced us with the dance, oh glory, THE dance, she had me tearing up at the beauty of it! You'd have to be an ice block not to be moved by that scene!
The only way to describe this read is utterly delightful! Ms Losee's flair for storytelling is evident in this book, she ensnares me with her eloquence, an ability she has in abundance, bringing every detail, action and reaction alive, animating the prose in a refreshingly engaging way. The very best HEA is guaranteed with all her books and, trust me, you'll be carrying that warmth around for a while. A charming and sweet love story that tickled my palette, awakened it to experience the full pleasure of a robust and delightful tale.
Matching Mr. Montfert (An Apsley Family Romance: Book #2) — can be read as a standalone or part of the series

An endearing tale about Grace Scott, a self-proclaimed matchmaker seeking her own financial independence… and Phillip Montfert, the reluctant heir who is under pressure to marry if he is to inherit his disproving uncle’s estate.
Grace Scott lives under the care of her cousin and his family, and is ready to attend her first season, but with her leg injury has already resigned herself to live out her days as a spinster. She is a strong-willed character who does not let a simple “weakness” hinder her abilities and longs for the independence that will help remove the need of being in the care of others, something she feels is a burden to others.
Phillip Montfert is the prospective heir to his uncle’s estate. Determined to secure the care and well-being of his mother, Phillip must find a wife that meets the standards of his emotionally abusive uncle if he is successfully inherit.
Both with their own physical ailments—Phillip, with a hearing impairment his manipulative uncle is ashamed of and insists on keeping concealed, and Grace in chronic pain from her injured leg—come together to help the young Mr. Montfert navigate London's social scene to find him a suitable wife that meets his uncle's approval.

This is an incredibly sweet tale by Brooke Losee and a wonderful companion story to the first in the series (Saving Miss Scott). I absolutely love the representation provided in this story and think the author does an amazing job of making sure these characters and what society deems as “impairments” are truly seen and are able to overcome the hardships that life has otherwise dealt them.
With an interesting mix of characters and a reprise from a more-or-less not well-liked character from the first book, Brooke paints a beautiful picture of the time and weaves a fantastic tale complete with romance, comedy, and even a bit of mystery and intrigue. I feel all of the characters have their own impact on the story—Grace’s cousins are delightful to read about and can be credited with many lighthearted laughs, Philip’s uncle causes much ire, and the appearance of another character in the story will incite a bit of shock and dismay.
As I said, this is an absolutely amazing read — if you’re in the market for a sweet and lighthearted CLEAN regency romance… I definitely recommend this series… and most certainly this book in particular!

“How boring the world would be if we were all the same.”
-Matching Mr. Montfert, is Book #2 in the lovely Apsley Family Romance Series! While this story could easily be read as a standalone, please do yourself a favor and start with book #1 to enjoy the full series. This a dear story filled wonderfully with such heart, endearing characters, witty banter, humor, angst, a dilemma or two and, a mystery to unravel! It’s a story that will have you engaged and rooting for the dear main characters and their own love story to bloom. Watching dear characters learn along the way that both are worthy of love was so tender and uplifting. I loved the beautiful emphasis that a person’s worth is not determined by any limitations or condition, and that love is available to them as well. Seeing dear characters rise above them and choose to bravely fight for love despite society and strangled family relationships/great obstacles was so satisfying. This dear story shows that that we don’t need to be restricted by the labels we allow society to place on ourselves and that we have the power to choose to break free of them. Love conquers all. This is a story worth reading!🙌🏻📚❤️
“Not all broken things need to be fixed to have value. We simply need to look at them differently. Appreciate them for what they are.”
•Content: death of loved ones (off-page) strained family relationships, life-long hearing impairment, a weak leg, talk of scandalous house party in past, verbal abuse/physical abuse, illegal behavior-fraud, being charged/prison; kisses only.
“Hiding our struggles does not make them go away, nor are we less for having them. Broken or not, I am capable of strength and intelligence, independence and happiness.”
-I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Grace Scott knows she is a burden and is determined to make a living off of her impending spinsterhood. Her weak leg keeps her from being part of the tone and society. After helping her sister, and reading many romance novels, she wants to become a matchmaker. For if she can't find love for herself she may as well find it for others. Phillip Monfert is the heir to his uncle's business. Something Victor Perry uses as leverage against him to keep him in line knowing he will do anything to keep his mother protected. Victor makes a startling demand, Phillip is to find a wife this season and has a list of traits this woman must meet to be considered an appropriate candidate. This is his first season and he has no idea who could even be an eligible lady let alone how to obtain invites to meet one. He is left feeling utterly lost. Additionally, Phillip hides his own secret, a partial deafness that makes courting an issue at times. Luckily, a new friend has just the person to help him fulfill this daunting and intimidating task.
A stunning story about being restricted by the labels we allow society to place on ourselves and how to break free of them. Both the main characters have medical ailments that make them not perfect but that doesn't mean they don't have feelings or hold value. The journey they take to realize this was spectacular. This story hits the perfect amount of hurt/comfort that I crave along with the intrigue of what Sabrina is doing to right some of the wrongs she was responsible for. We get some great character development from minor characters in the previous book and see some groundwork for future books. The banter between the siblings was amazing and I am here for the continued sibling rivalries.
I love how fun and sweet this story is to read. It gives me Pride and Prejudice sort of vibes.
Grace decided that due to her weak leg that she will end up a spinster. However, she does not let this hold her back. She is a strong character who knows her limitations and is not afraid of how society thinks of her. She informs anyone who asks about her leg because she does not want to lie to people. Because she sees herself being a spinster and does not wish to be a burden to her cousins, she decides to secretly start a matchmaking service.
Enter Phillip Montfert, who is a gentle soul that while reading you just want to embrace him and shield him from his abusive Uncle. Phillip has a secret hearing impairment of his own that he has been sworn to secretly per his Uncle. Phillip does everything that his Uncle expects him to do in order to maintain being his prospective heir and to secure his mother a place to stay. One of the demands is he needs to find a wife that will satisfy his Uncle's list of requirements.
Grace becomes Phillip's matchmaking and along the way, they grow and teach each other. Their romance is sweet and the beauty of how they don't see each others impairments as something that should bother them.
I completely fell in love with their story.
Thank you Brooke for letting me be a part of your ARC. I cannot wait to see what other stores you have to tell!
Another absolutely lovely read from Brooke J Losee!
Grace is smart, strong, and a hopeless romantic! She decides to start a matchmaking business her first season because she believes she will never marry due to her weak leg. Her first client ends up being Phillip Montfert.
Phillip is sweet, protective, and has a quiet strength about him. He has gone through life with a hearing difficulty and stuck under the thumb of a horrid uncle who treats him like a pawn to achieve his own goals. When his uncle threatens to disinherit Phillip, leaving him and his mother destitute, unless Phillip marries a woman of his uncle’s approval, Phillip enlists the help of a matchmaker (Grace).
As the two work together to determine the best match for Phillip, they grow closer and closer until they both realize that the perfect match had been in front of them the entire time.
This was an absolutely lovely read and a beautiful sequel to Saving Miss Scott! I am very excited for book three and a Sabrina story! Definitely check out this book, and all of the others Ms. Losee has written.
Read if you love protective family members, pranking family members, matchmaking schemes, and a couple comprised of two beautiful souls learning that they are whole and worthy of love and kindness despite their disabilities.
Thank you to the author for including me in her ARC team, all opinions expressed are my own.
Content warning: Abusive/manipulative uncle No language Clean kisses
This book was really fun! I hadn't read the first book in the series, so I was worried I wouldn't like it, but it was beautiful all on its own. My favorite part of the book was their dance at a ball. Many regency novels have a romantic dance, but this one was special and different. It showed compassion and caring in such a beautiful way. It almost brought me to tears, and at the same time made me laugh. It was beautifully done!
Here are some other things you will love about it:
- Witty Sibling Banter -Dual Perspective -Blackmail -Vulnerable conversations between the main couple -Forbidden Love - Slow Burn - Being Different is ok - Our physical weaknesses do not make us less worthy -Tree climbing -Unexpected flowers
Some quotes I loved:
"My Body Seemed to come alive with awareness. Every intake of her breath pressed her against me. Every exhale sent her warm breath skittering across the skin exposed above my cravat. Her touch, even with the fabric of my waistcoat as separation, created needle-like sparks of warmth that raced though my veins and into my limbs."
"...a good reminder despite the pain of the past. And a reminder that not all broken things need to be fixed to have value. We simply need to look at them differently. Appreciate them for what they are."
This is a charming regency romance. We met Grace in book one of the series and I was looking forward to her story. Although this is the second book, it can be read as a standalone. But I highly recommend reading both books. Grace has regaled herself as being a spinster and in doing so she must find a way to support herself. Arriving in London, for what was to be her season she made the decision she was going to become a matchmaker. Her first client was Philip who was the apparent heir to his uncle. And his uncle was requiring him to marry before the end of the season. This is a delightful story of forbidden love that cannot be ignored. I loved the twists and turns of this story and the characters were delightful and engaging.
[4.5 stars] Though I didn’t love it quite as much as the 1st, this is a good and engaging book. Our villain from book 1 returns in a redemption arc, and I enjoyed seeing her change of heart and pursuit of justice. Her father takes over the villain role in this one and, man, is he evil. His abuse and manipulations make the book a bit of a downer at times, but the romance is sweet and the writing smooth.
Content: There is no foul language or sex, and the violence is minimal. The romance is limited to lightly descriptive kisses. There is no mention of faith or God.
Trigger warning - a physically and emotionally abusive guardian
This book 2, and I think I liked it better than book 1. It was obvious what would happen, so it was all in the telling. It was serious and a bit humorous. Good main characters and story. On to the next book!
Poor Mr. Montfert didn’t know what to do at a season. To hire a matchmaker to help get a wife. His matchmaker is the one he related to the most and she also. It took most of the season for them to figure out they were to be together
Absolutely loved this! I read it in one sitting! It's sweet and vulnerable and loving. It's sweet in a heart balm way and I can't wait to read about the other siblings meeting their matches!
This book is an absolute delight—fun, sweet, and bursting with heart! I can't get enough of this adorable couple and their adventurous tree-climbing escapades. I really appreciate how thoughtfully physical impairments are addressed, adding depth to the story. It's fascinating to see how we plan out our lives, only to find ourselves gifted with something much larger than we ever dreamed possible. There’s an intriguing villain that keeps the tension high and plenty of twists to keep you on your toes!
One of my favorite moments? The closet scene—it was simply unforgettable! Honestly, there’s so much to love here that I can’t say more without giving away the magic. You absolutely *have* to read this book; I can’t recommend it highly enough!
I received a complimentary e-copy of this book and read it with pleasure. I was under no obligation to leave a positive review.
✅🫶🏼Thank you so much @brookjlosee for the opportunity to read Matching Mr. Montfert. This is my honest review and all opinions expressed are my own.
My thoughts: Can Grace find love? Will she be a spinster as she has always imagined? She’s more interested in finding love for others….not for herself. She feels her leg injury makes her unsuited to marry. Enter Philip Montfert….who is need of a wife with wealth and social standing. But, Philip has his own medical issue of a life-long hearing impairment. Grace can be his matchmaker….with some interesting results;) This was another lovely, clean, cute regency read in the Apsley Family series.
In the previous book I met Grace and I am very happy with her story. Grace Scott has had a weak leg since she was a little girl that will never recover. However she does not let this condition slow her down, she wants to live to the fullest, but despite being a hopeless romantic, in love she is resigned to become an spinster, as she believes that no gentleman would want her. So Grace decides to become a matchmaker in her first season in London. Philip Montfert keeps his hearing problems hidden from everyone, as he does not want to be rejected for it. Besides, his uncle, who named him his heir, forbids him to reveal this information. Phillip is worried about his uncle's threats, who will leave him and his mother destitute if he does not obey his demands. The last one is to get married. Desperate for help he hires a matchmaker, a very charming one indeed.
Grace is a strong spirit, but without realizing it, she had given up her romantic dreams for fear of being rejected for her leg. I love that Philip helped her see this, and that she knew she was worthy of love. Philip is so sweet, his manner is honorable, and he is brave in facing ethical decisions and following his conscience, despite his uncle's cruel influence. Grace and Philip value each other, together they learn that a person's worth is not determined by their limitations or condition. And that love is available to them as well.
You will find: 🌹FMC brave and caring 🌹MMC kindhearted gentleman 🌹Dual POV 🌹Secret meetings 🌹List of qualities 🌹Meaning of flowers 🌹Dances 🌹Forbidden love 🌹Hiding in a closet 🌹Sweet epilogue
~ Miss Scott was brave and impulsive, charming and witty. She was kind and sympathetic. She was altogether lovely. ~

I absolutely love this story!! Our MMC, who is hard of hearing, has entrusted our FMC, who has a physical ailment, to help him find a wife. While they get to know one another in a professional capacity, they slowly become friends for real. And of course that friendship blossoms into something more 🤭
Both of our MCs must ask themselves what is really getting in their way, societal expectations and norms or themselves. If they want to be together, they must face their personal challenges.
There is one thing that is keeping them apart, but it might not be what you think. Read to find out!
***I have received this book as an arc in exchange for an honest review***
