The Middleton Series Trilogy Obsession Submission Possession
Enter my world of possessive alpha billionaires when you read the first book in my forbidden romance series, MASTERSON. Or join me for some hot, bad boy, pro ball players when you read the first book in my sports romance series, SAINT.
About me: Hi, my name is Lisa and I am the USA Today Bestselling author of contemporary romance and romantic suspense novels. I grew up an only child gorging myself on daytime soaps, night time dramas, and romance novels. I'm a wife, mom of 4 daughters, mom of 2 labradoodles and a houseplant hoe!
This is not how I expected it to be. The first book really won me over. It reminded me of the good old days. Your typical mega-rich older man falls for a poor waitress with huge secrets. I mean, come on. That's so 2010s coded.
However, as the novelty wore off, so did I. I just wished things happened differently in this one. We got the knight in shining armour, saving the damsel in distress in the first book. Okay, we got it. I don't want to see the same thing happen in the second book. What I want to say is that it kinda got repetitive when our girl kept getting saved by her man. Give me one badass scene with her. Let her punch the fuck out of that girl. Let her shoot someone. Let her save herself out of a situation.
But nope. We have her meek and truly a damsel in distress. And pretty much an insufferable ass sometimes. Dating a criminal king like our H here and had no self-preservation whatsoever. And the scenes just repeated themselves.
With that said, I hope the final book will turn all these around. Please. I need this nostalgic read to end with a high note.
We pick up where we left off in Megan and Hunter’s story. We learn more about Megan’s past and her family and that gets resolved satisfyingly. There is still a threat against Hunter and we don’t know who the mastermind is.
Megan does start to stick up for herself a little more in this book than the first book so there’s some growth, but she still is exhausting. While I can somewhat understand how she feels some times other times it feels like she’s picking a fight just cuz and she’s ALWAYS leaving her security! How many times do you have to be kidnapped to learn?!
And Naomi…she’s…a lot. I started to get annoyed with her.
I’ll probably read the next book just to complete the story.
I’ve picked this up on book 2 after receiving an ARC in my inbox (in not having read book 1) so it took me a little to understand who was who and some of the dynamics. Megan is an art major at college and simultaneously manages a club, owned by Hunter who is her older, rich, connected boyfriend.
It seems there’s ongoing threats to Hunter’s life, despite a slew of bodyguards and specially trained, protective staff. Megan gets put through the ringer with some staff who don’t respect her and a family that’s just the worst. There’s delving into her upbringing and family history and Hunter gets a surprise when someone from his past turns up unexpectedly.
In all, a lot seems to happen giving a chaotic feel to the story, without a whole lot of progress in terms of the couple’s relationship or the issues they experience. The book subsequently ends on a cliffhanger which contributes to the feeling of what on earth could happen next.
It’s tricky to rate this on it’s own merit when I’ve not read the first and in picking up book 2 much is assumed that the reader already knows. I’m just not sure on the basis of this book I’m overly invested in this couple’s connection as the sole reason to keep reading however I am interested in a few secondary relationships including Megan’s friendship with her roommate Naomi who has secrets of her own, and Hunter’s relationship with his surprise visitor.
Megan had been trying to move forward in her life and she thought she was escaping her past but then she gets the dreaded call. Her family had tracked her down.
Her mood was further soured when the finalists for the art exhibit were announced and when Hunter moved Lacy in with them. She didn’t understand his interest in her and it bothered her.
She had finally convinced herself that their age difference wasn’t a problem, but now she was having even more doubts. She was nothing. She was dating a billionaire who happened to be the underworld negotiator. Doubt was pulling her under.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This is book two of The Middleton trilogy series and is not a standalone novel. You must read book one first.
Megan is a bartender, an art student and life just keeps kicking her down. We meet her family – what a treat they are, she gets further bullying from her college nemesis and then finds out that her best friend has been keeping major secrets.
But Hunter also has secrets.
This dark romance is action-packed and smoking hot. Megan has danger coming at her from several directions and finds out that those that she has trusted may not be trustworthy after all. The intrigue just gets deeper as secrets start unfolding. But Megan isn’t the only one in danger as Hunter has someone trying to displace him.
We went from sweet and spicy to hot and heavy in the span of two books! As we continue with art student and club manager, Megan Taylor and billionaire fixer, Hunter Middleton's story in this Lisa Lang Blakeney's second book in her Middleton Series, Submission, we get to see the relationship these two have together bloom slowly but oh so intense. I swear Megan and Hunter burn like an inferno when they are together! Dark pasts re-emerging for both Hunter and Megan threaten not only their budding relationship, but also their lives. Add in fates newest twists for the couple and this book is explosive on so many levels! I didn't know how much I needed this book in my life until now! I'm going to need the next book in the series ASAP!!
SUBMISSION is book 2 of the series, and I had high hopes for Megan and Hunter. Hunter meets or exceeds those hopes in that I like a possessive “I’ll do anything for her” MMC. Megan I’m often finding my self saying “What are you thinking, girl?”, because clearly she is not learning from past mistakes.
But, as the story unfolds, I am once again drawn into the drama that surrounds these two while wanting Megan to do better, so I keep reading to see what she gets snapped up in because of her relationship with this man with a lot of power, and the rivals that comes with it.
I’m in solidly until the end now, having read this advance copy and now eagerly awaiting the conclusion.
This is book two in The Middleton series and it continues Hunter and Megan’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Megan’s life had changed since she started dating Hunter and now she is also the manager at The Blue Whiskey Club that Hunter owns but Megan’s past has a way of constantly coming back to haunt and mess with her life but with Hunter by her side it makes her life more bearable and she hopes in time she will be read to share some of her past that she had kept hidden from him and hoping that he doesn’t walk away from her because she is so in love with him and he had become so important to her that she will walk through fire for him. Hunter owns The Blue Whiskey Club along with other businesses but with his wealth, status and who he is there are always enemies that will do anything to take him out and also hurt the people that are important and who he cares about and now he had Megan by his side he will do anything and everything to protect and care for her regardless of what he has to do or who ever tries to betray them or the circumstances involved because she is his everything and he will take down any one that tries to hurt her in any way. Danger is closer than they thought and now they need to find and eliminate any threat before it explodes into chaos especially as it could mean the difference between life or death and he will not take any chances with Megan or the people who are close to him. Hunter and Megan have intense chemistry and a connection that is so strong that they can’t seem to keep there hands off each other and now that strong feelings are involved they both have a lot to lose and then they get a surprise that neither were expecting making the stakes even higher than they thought but just when things start to settle down you get the biggest cliffhanger ending that will have you on the edge of your seat while holding your breath wondering what will happen next and also what the outcome will be for them in the end. This book will take you on a real rollercoaster ride of your life along with danger, great characters, strong chemistry, kidnapping, suspense, drama, action, friendship, emotions, physical and mental abuse and trauma, loss, hope, love and situations that will have you turning the pages because you are unable to put this book down as it is so addictive and I read it in one sitting because it kept my attention throughout right until the early hours of the morning. I can’t wait to read the final book in this amazing series.
This is the continuing story of Hunter and Megan. It’s full of action because of his job, the Los Angeles’s underworld mediator. Both of their pasts enter into their present. Hunter is his long lost sister and Megan is her abusive family. Then there is who is trying to kill Hunter and Megan is always in the middle and in danger because she is Hunter’s weakness. They are trying to form a relationship at the same time. He’s so used to being in control and she has a hard time with that. He’s also trying to get to know his sister. There is also Megan’s roommate which a lot is revealed about her and her family. Every time Megan is without her security something happens to her. Finally admitting that they love each other, the magnetism and steam you can almost feel come off the pages. Yes again we are left with a cliff hanger. It’s frustrating, but I do love a good cliff hanger if it is written well. I can’t wait for the next book to see how everything ends up.
I really like Hunter and Megan's story. I just don't understand that being best friends with Naomi or rather aka Josephine Fabre who is from the bayou in New Orleans and her father has finally found her and is ready for her to come home and marry the man he has arranged for her to marry. The hard part in this story is, is that no marry how much Hunter and his friends try to protect Megan someone is always trying to hurt her either buy kidnapping or shooting her. The worst part of this latest kidnapping is that it could have been prevented if she had not got in her feelings and just took a breath and talked to Hunter about this decision about this home he had purchased without her input instead of running away and being kidnapped by her "best friend's father" I am upset that they are taking her and she is pregnant. Love this second story in this series by Lisa Lang Blakeney and the Middleton Series.
Submission: An Age-Gap, Billionaire Romance (The Middleton Series Book 2) is the next book in the saga of Hunter and Megan. Like the first book, it is fast paced with a lot of conflict. Megan’s past comes back to haunt her bringing to light an unanticipated shock. Hunter too, has his past surface unexpectantly. Additionally, alarming events continue to occur, and it is difficult to tell the difference between friends and enemies. All of this puts alpha Hunters protective side into overdrive, but unforeseen circumstances come into play. Hunter lives a dangerous life. and it becomes more obvious that caring for Megan could be the best or the worst thing of his life If you were hoping for a resolution to this couple’s troubles, you must wait until book three as there appears to be a lot more to come.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is the continuation of Megan and Hunters story from the first book Obsession. I love that we got to learn more about Megan's past. There are some things that need to be taken care of in that area and that happens in this book. Hunter though has a threat against him. Now we have to figure out who is behind all of that. I loved seeing Megan coming out of her shell and not letting everyone run all over her. He is giving her the confidence that she has always had inside herself but never knew how to bring it out to the surface. The girl however, needs to learn how to stay with her security. She made me a nervous wreck at times. If I had been taken once, you would not have to tell me twice to stay with them. I'd be right there with them at all times.
I just love this story! It was hot, beautifully written. The speech that Lars gave Hunter when they were discussing love and Megan really pulled at my heart strings.Megan's life before Hunter was so bad,it's a wonder she didn't give up or go nuts, she is strong, independent and she had hopes and dreams.Hunter wants to help Megan or make her life better but at times he can be a little forceful and then he and Megan is at war mostly because he can't take no and sometimes he doesn't listen to what Megan is saying. He can be a softy when it comes to his love.Lena and Christian need a story,a feel flames are a brewing when they are around each other.Look forward for the story of possession! I could give this story more than five stars!
Hunter never wanted to fall in love as he knows that anyone he cares about would be in danger. Now that he has let Megan into his heart he has his hands full to keep her safe not only from being collateral damage because of him but from her own past as well.
As much as Hunter tries to protect Megan it becomes apparent that she is a magnet for trouble. It doesn’t help the situation that she needs her independence and is feeling stifled by his need to protect her which causes her to do things that only increase the danger.
The surprises keep coming, the suspense keeps you on edge and the love between them only becomes stronger with challenge they face. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Submission By Lisa Lang Blakeney Main Characters: Megan and Hunter I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. 5 out of 5 stars Wow, this book was quite a departure from LLB's previous books. I loved it. It's good and spicy! Megan is the club manager for Hunter's Blue Whiskey Club and an art student. We find out just how bad Megan's family life was, but Hunter helps with that situation. Megan is coming out of her shell and finally starts to stick up for herself, and boy does she. There are lots of twists and turns, and I love the characters. I highly recommend this series.
This is the second book in a trilogy and wow what a book. Megan and Hunter are still trying to navigate through their new relationship and his possessive feelings towards her. Secrets are discovered when her family come to hurt her but Hunter puts does right by Megan and gives them what they deserve. When Hunters past springs up it means danger for nothing Hunter and Megan but also his newly found sister. Can they get through all this and move on with their relationship or will someone more sinister come for them. So many twists and turns but also plenty of love. Can't wait for the final book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This is my second book in this series. The flow of the writing is easy and well developed. The characters are strong yet vulnerable, seeking love but afraid of the consequences loving, and sees loving someone as a weakness, only to learn that love provides the drive to become stronger and more prideful. The book is fast moving and will keep you involved. The abuse depicted is heart breaking and through my tears I was happy that the abuse did not get away and got more than they deserved. I am looking forward to reading the final book and hoping for a good ending. You will not be disappointed by selecting this book.
Lisa Lang Blakeney did a wonderful job on the continue story of Megan and Hunter, Submission is a strong addition to their story, nothing about their journey has or will be easy, they have had many ups and downs, twist and turns but the continue between Hunter and Megan is stronger than ever so wasn't the chemistry, which was off the charts, steaminess, this is a great story. I'm looking forward to reading more. I'd suggest reading it. Lisa Lang Blakeney wrote the story well. Thank you, Lisa Lang Blakeney. Great work :)
This is the second book in this amazing trilogy, and Hunter and Megan’s journey continues. Hunter is used to being in control, and Megan is starting to find her own way in life. This is a well written action packed story, with found family, friendships, emotions, revelations, tragedy, an age gap, danger, suspense, intrigue, tension, palpable chemistry, challenges, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining, spicy, twisted, and unpredictable, addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
2.5 stars. A lot of inconsistencies with the first book. For instance the best friend (Naomi) and Hunter already met and interacted in the first book and had like a playful banter. But second book they apparently meet for first time and hate each other. Plus the amount of times Megan gets herself into life threatening situations and still doesn’t learn is ridiculous. I’m still going to read the third book though! It’s an easy read and enjoyable enough that I still want to read the third book though!
As this is book 2 in Megan & Hunter’s story there are parts from the first book that get resolved, but there is also new circumstances that arise and won’t be answered until the next book. Which I’m ok with because Lisa has written these books so well that even though I am so not a fan of cliffhangers, this couple needed more than one book to have their story heard. Bring on the next book and please let it be released sooner rather than later!!
Drama 5 stars. - It’s not totally Megan’s fault but there are times that her decisions are causing the drama. I mean she knew what Hunter was when she decided to hook up with him and yet she’s expecting a different behavior from him. Anyway, this story makes you invested in their life. There are a few twists and dangers. Romance is steamy. Mr. Middleton must be fuming. Where is the third book? I received an advanced copy and voluntarily chose to review it.
Submission by Lisa Lang Blakeney is the second book in the Middleton Trilogy about Hunter Middleton, a self-made billionaire whose businesses might not be all legal, who falls in love with an art student/bartender, Megan Taylor, at the Blue Whiskey, a night club owned and operated by Middleton where he runs his underworld businesses. The outside world does not want to see either Middleton or Taylor happy, and the obstacles are mounting. Will Megan and Hunter make it or not?
This was good. I am glad that Megan was able to get her justice from her evil family. She frustrates me because she is so hard-headed! Hunter is trying to protect her and she keeps going off on her own and of course she becomes a victim. Her friend Naomi is showing what she is truly about! Anyway, I cannot wait for the conclusion in the next book "Possession" in the Middleton Series.
Submission is a seductive, emotionally raw continuation that blends romance with danger in all the right ways. For fans of possessive heroes, forbidden love, and love stories that play out under pressure, this is a satisfying and addictive read. Just when you think you know how far Hunter will go, he goes further.
First two books are good. But Megan is a real pain. She doesn't lesson, always so argumentative, a pushover , and lets people walk all over her in the name of friendship, the last book I really hope she gets better .
So much going on. It like watching a tennis match. As the tension built, I kept wondering what more could happen to this group of friends. Exciting and anticipatory. I loved everything about this book. Bring on book three.
With enemies everywhere and hormones flying high it's a true testing time for Megan and Hunter and who they can trust and it turns out to be not many but the ones that are loyal are there for them.
