If a girl screams in a forest and nobody hears her, does she exist?

Cora was seventeen when the apocalypse started. Three years later, Cora hasn’t seen or spoken to anyone since that day. She’s not sure she is capable of making sound anymore, and she certainly doesn’t have any reason to.

That is until four men walk into her house and make it their own.

Cora watches them from within the walls, and the longer they stay there, the more attached Cora gets. They make her feel things she hadn’t felt before, but they don’t even know she exists. What happens when they find out? Can they overcome the communication barrier?

And what happens when their little sanctuary is threatened? Cora may be a shy mute, but being alone for so long has also made her a tad feral. Especially over what belongs to her, and make no mistake, Isaac, Trent, Remington, and Derrick are hers, even if they don’t know it yet.

This was a hard book for me to put down. I'm so glad it was a slow day day work today cause I was able to read this with barely any interruptions 🫶🏽

I really liked Cora. She gave off a really shy, super sweet vibe at first. She was still that but I loved how she had a backbone. Even though she was mute she made sure to find a way to communicate her feelings and if something bothered her she wasn't shy about letting them know. I loveeee that she was somewhat prepared and didn't depend on anyone for her safety. She proved time and time again she's capable of protecting herself, her home and her men.

Now on to her men. I liked them all equally. I liked them a lot from the beginning but what made me really fall for them was how patient they were with her. They never rushed her to talk, to do anything and waiting till she felt comfortable to make any type of move.

All the characters lost someone in the past and were still healing from it and trying to move on. We got to see how that affected them now and how it also affected their relationships. I loved how they were there for each other and they understood everyone goes through stuff you just gotta be there to offer support if they want it.

Overall this book is gonna go on my favorites list. Zombie apocalypse + sweet but lethal fmc + 4 men that would do anything for her like what more could I possibly want. We got some funny moments, sweet, sad, actiony just a mix of everything to keep you entertained.

Also I found it hilarious that the guys were so ok with the fact that she was watching them through the walls for a minute before they knew there was another person in the house 😭😭

I know, I didn’t like the first book, so why did I read the second? Because I liked the first half of the first book, and the concept of this book was too irresistible.
This one had whole other issues going on to make it skeevy beyond watching people through the walls. But it’s still also a little bit the same? Because the MC sounds like she’s twelve. Not kidding, she’s all daddy and mommy and everyone calls her little mountain girl. You can tell me she was seventeen here, but it never showed a seventeen year old. It showed an at mosttwelve-year-old. Then it’s three years later and she’s calling her vagina a kitty (because she thinks that’s what it’s called, so I assume a misremembered pussy reference) and has never heard the word cøck. Though apparently she’s watched pørn, though I have no idea how as she had no mobile phone or computer or internet, just a landline as nothing else got reception where she lives. I think the inability to communicate and using gestures for everything didn’t help with ageing her up either, because she just reads so freaking young.
It’s super weird and icky because then she’s watching these guys through the walls and self-pleasuring, and again, she sounds twelve. And maybe she stopped maturing once she was alone with no one else to interact with and she’s now fifteenish and just developmentally delayed and really naive. But she’s apparently twenty. Then four guys go straight to being sexual with her and it really feels like they’re taking advantage of someone with a cognitive disability and it just feels so gross and abusive when she doesn’t possess the brain power to say no. Like when you were watching the Descendants and found out Dopey from Snow White has kids. There is no way that was consensual with someone who understood what was going on. So yeah, not at all sexy.
The flashbacks really break the story too. They add nothing beyond word count. If the characters have a back story, use it to show me how it affects them, don’t just tell us.
The end is quite abrupt and basically does a full turn around before setting up for a new book. This one can definitely be read as a standalone as it’s just the same world without crossover.

2.75 stars. I read this book in one sitting. The writing was super easy to take in and was great. The thing that I disliked was the characters and how unrealistic the whole story was. First of all the guys were so weak compared to Cora and very emotional and whiney. Her befriending “Dyana” and allowing her to live with them after she tried to take there house and kill them was so random and dumb.

Okay, I'm obviously in the minority here given my lower rating. I thought the idea/storyline was good, but it didn't feel fully fleshed out. I needed more meat!! I didn't feel like I really got to know the characters, and the tenses kept switching on me.

Yay I finished another book! I am really enjoying this series. I am glad to see some growth from Queenie, and it will be interesting to read her book. Even though it won’t be out until next October lol. I think I want to start going through this authors back list because I’ve really enjoyed these books and I’ve flown through them!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️
POV: multiple povs
Tropes: touch him and die, morally grey characters
Triggers: READ THEM BEFORE YOU READ

It is part of a trilogy but can be read as a standalone.

This is the second installment of the series following Bailey. I honestly like Cora better than Bailey’s book, which sometimes is the case with the second book right?

So to start off, I actually would have rated this book a solid 5 if it wasn’t for 2 minor things that was more frustrating to ME than anything else so it’s possible it wouldn’t bother you.

This book is based on Cora, a twenty year old FMC, that even before the zombie apocalypse started she was known as the mountain girl because of her dad’s paranoia and secluding them up in the mountains. Totally doomsday vibes with the bunker and everything. Of course the virus finally hits her part of her tiny world when they were in town. Long story short, she looses her dad at 17 and basically locks herself in the bunker for 3 years; never taking a step out or anything until 4 boys/men find the house (empty of course) and they claim it as theirs without them knowing about the bunker and Cora living underneath and watching them through the walls.

It is a couple of weeks before they actually catch her and prove one of the guys right that there is an actual girl living with them and not a ghost 😂. There is some spice but no forcing of boundaries and the guys ease her into it. First individually and then all together.

Cora is a total badass and independent woman who took care of shit and does put the boys in their place. She does NOT let them get away with anything and it cracks me up with how she corrects their behavior. She is a mute, so her facial expressions are on point 😂 She does NOT allow them to tell her what to do, and she definitely does not allow them to treat her like a damsel in distress. She actually saves them repeatedly throughout the book and it is such a smug satisfaction when she does. They would literally not have survived without her and it’s hilarious with how long it takes them to figure that out.

Now the downside:
My problem with Cora was that these are MCs in their 20s but felt like I was reading about teenagers. I had to constantly remind myself that these weren’t 16/17 year olds . It felt like they were frozen in their original age that the apocalypse started; the maturity level that they should be at isn’t fully there.

There is a reoccurring theme/trigger of SA. I could literally just sigh and say “again with the SA” for how that’s the trigger she defaults back too in both books. For an apocalypse setting that literally anything can happen, she defaults to SA; it was a bit underwhelming, disappointing, and predictable.

I really wanted to love it but I just couldn’t really connect with the characters or the story. They were almost too good at communicating which is weird because the miscommunication trope is usually not my thing but there would be any conflict and it would instantly be resolved after a paragraph of dialogue. Maybe if it were a little longer I would’ve actually been able to love the characters instead of just liking them.

The concept behind this book is incredible, unfortunately the execution was lackluster.

Spoilers:

The beginning of the book was great. Cora’s story about when the apocalypse started and how she came to be on her own for three years was interesting.

Then the guys show up and she starts watching them through her walls. For weeks. That part was cool and interesting.

Then she gets discovered and the relationships go from 0-100 immediately. There is zero buildup. Right after they first meet her they decide to share her and all of a sudden this 20 year old mute virgin girl is fooling around. That very same night she masturbates in front of two of the guys while they fuck each other in front of her. Keep in mind this mountain girl has never heard the word “cock” before.

Then her and the only other virgin in the harem have sex and it’s awkward and unsexy.

The ONLY spice scene that was remotely hot was the mm. All the ones involving her are rushed through and boring. Wtf kind of RH is that?

Then some random bad guys show up and more ridiculousness happens.

There’s not an alpha male in sight. One of them is the “bossy leader” but god this doesn’t push any of the hot buttons.

If you’re new to reading spicy books or RH then you might enjoy this book but that’s about it.

Full of plot holes and disbelief. Random weirdness is thrown in to give it action. Relationships are way too rushed without an ounce of natural chemistry.

I gave it that second star for originality. That’s all I can give.

Absolutely brilliant

Read it in less than 24 hours. Was pretty impossible to put down and was quite a Rollercoaster of emotions.

Cora reminds us that even in the worst of times there's always a little something (or someone) to live for.

Terrible. Awful. The relationships were not built they were instant and they lack any kind of tangible connection or chemistry. It all seemed very forced and awkward. And spoiler alert, the main enemy to this group becomes part of their family in a matter of seconds and the next book is set up to be about her. Like no thank you I was set up to hate this person and now I have to read about them finding love!? Not happening. Weird choice.

Nebby is back in her post-apocalyptic world with Cora. This is a standalone and apart from being sent in the apocalypse there is no connection to book one, Bailey. I didn't love this one as much as I did Bailey's. I can't even say why, but it wasn't a book that I didn't want to put down and struggled to walk away from.

That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it, because I did.

I thought Cora was a great leading lady. I loved how sheltered and protected she'd been from the apocalypse but also how she'd gone a little wild and feral because of her isolation. The inability to talk when she first meets the guys is a good little addition to their situation. She certainly had a tough time at the beginning of the apocalypse but things are looking up with the arrival of four men.

Isaac is kind of the leader of the group. He and his brother Trent suffered their own tragedy at the start of everything and it's made Isaac super cautious and protective of those he cares for.

Trent is the youngest of the group and probably the softest of them. He's got his own fears and torments and has developed a relationship with one of the others, Remi.

Remi was the last to be welcomed into this found family. The others found him thinking he was one of the zombies, but he was just a goofball they didn't expect. He and Trent have a connection but sometimes Remi's past haunts him.

Derrick has a bit of chip but deep down he's a good guy and his found family is incredibly important to him. While he and Isaac bump heads they come together for their little group.

This little found family stumbles on Cora's home in the mountains and thinks they have found a safe haven. They have no idea that their new home already has a resident.

The group has a great camaraderie and when they meet Cora they fall hard for the solitary girl.

I am enjoying Nebby's zombie world and look forward to whatever is next.
.
.
.
The day the apocalypse arrived in Cora's small town she lost everything. Luckily her father had moved them up into the mountains and prepared both the house and Cora for anything that could happen. Three years have passed and Cora is alone and isolated but so far safe. She hasn't seen anyone in years until four handsome men stumble into her home.

Isaac might have been overly cautious for his friend's liking but he wasn't risking their lives unless he was sure they were safe. Now they seem to have found the perfect home to set up base in.

The house seems like a dream come true in the new world, but things aren't adding up for Derrick but he just can't quite figure it out.

Over their time together Trent and Remi formed a relationship that means a lot to them and despite the changed world, they found each other and some happiness.

While they are planning everything they need to settle into the home they've found they have no idea that someone already lives there.

Cora watches them and finds them intriguing and entertaining but she's too frightened to venture out until one day they catch her. They weren't expecting her and she certainly wasn't expecting them.
"It wasn't love at first sight, but it was damn near close."

The minute they see the beautiful but slightly wild girl they're smitten, but wonder if she will break their bond apart. Cora finds each of the men beginning to mean something special to her and the thought of keeping them all to herself after all her time alone makes her incredibly happy.
"Nobody hurts what's mine without paying the price." "Yours?" I asked. Cora nodded and then typed some more. "All of you are mine now!" Being claimed by Cora felt like a stab in the heart, but in the best way possible.'

No matter how safe they make themselves though, the world is in chaos and there are constant threats from the living and the dead. While the guys try to protect Cora she shows them just how capable she can be and together they might just find a happy ending during the world's worst days.

Happy Reading.

This one has been pushed to me in KU for forever. I don’t usually enjoy apocalypse stories, especially those with literal zombies, so maybe this one started with a disadvantage for me. That said, the zombies weren’t the dealbreaker for me.

We begin our tale with the onset of the zombie apocalypse. Fine, normal. Then we cut to three years later and our Cora is living in the bunker in her old house when suddenly four men come in and settle into the house. Cora remains hidden and changes her routine to basically play pretend that she and the guys are a family and she’s like, drinking coffee with them. This is actually all very cute and charming, while also being kind of sad. There’s a bit of voyeurism in there which is a little off putting for consent reasons, but other than that, it feels like the slow build I need in order to be invested.

All goes to shit when she meets them.

They IMMEDIATELY all decide that they want to share her and she is all for it, despite never being in an actual relationship before, and having lived as a recluse for the past 3 years with no human contact and a lost voice from disuse. They’re exchanging I love yous within what feels like days, and then with no warning whatsoever “not everything he’s cooking smells good—“ NOPE!

Its fate was sealed, but I did keep reading. But the ending didn’t have time to come down. We got to the climax of the book. The big fight we’ve been waiting for. And… it doesn’t happen. They actually invite Queen whose actual name is Dyana, to live in their watchtower. Immediately we’re in the epilogue where they’ve been besties and the baby is here and Cora is actually pregnant again and her guys brought home three more guys to put in the watchtower and I’m out.

First of all, the ONLY reason I gave this a 4 star instead of a 5 is the ending. I felt it was rushed. Which i understand there was probably a deadline and in order to get the book out it had to be rushed. But this was a lot rushed. We go from hate to love basically with no in-between. That being said, it was still pretty good. Especially if dystopian universes are something you enjoy. Which for me it is.

I love that we got a glimpse of each characters backstory. What happened to them minutes/hours before the outbreak. It gives you a little peak at how they used to be compared to now. I also love that Cora is tough and is better at a lot of "manly" stuff that her men had no clue about. While it's true that she needs them, they also wouldn't have made it through the winter without Cora.

I'm also happy we got to see Remi's insecurities when Cora came into the picture. Could he have handled it better? Absolutely. But fear and hurt make you do stupid things. Trent was a sweetheart during Remi's confession.

The ending though.... it still sums up the book. But there's so much more i wanted to see. And the epilogue leads us into the next book which is great. I guess I'm just not ready to let these 5 characters go. They were amazing and I really loved them and this book. I'd gladly read another entire book just about them.

SPOILER:::

*****There is a scene with attempted r@pe. If this is a trigger for you, please consider your mental health before reading. No book is worth risking your mental health for no matter how good it is.*****

Loved Cora

After the first book in this series I thought we saw it all, but the author proved me wrong and I believe she will keep surprisingly us.
Cora has been living by herself for three years in the well stocked bunker her father built and at some point became mute. Suddenly four men find her house and decided to begin to live there.
She was able to get around and watch them through the walls. She'd sneak out at night sometimes and grab something they made or give them something they needed. It was always funny watching them accuse the other for something missing. Trent, and Isaac were brothers then there was Remi and Derrick.
I loved the banter between the men and how they teased each other about things from their journey to get to the house.
I enjoyed the flashbacks also because those gave us a chance to understand where they came from and why they were the way they were. Especially Remi's Flashback.
I loved when Cora showed her strengths to them and didn't let them forget that she can take care of herself. That is once she showed herself to them.
I really hope this author continues to write books in this series because I love reading about life after the apocalypse. This was an excellent read with quite the twist at the end.

I LOVE this book so much!! Between this book and #1 (Bailey), I am fast becoming obsessed with this world. Especially because I haven't read many zombie books and the fact this is set in a world plagued by them, OMG -- couldn't get enough.
Cora is such an interesting character because she and her father are decently isolated on their mountain. As in, they come to town from time to time for supplies and things. But otherwise, it's just them on the mountain. So when the zombie apocalypse strikes, EVERYTHING changes and Cora's life takes a chaotic turn.
Starting with how she loses her ability to talk.
I LOVED all the twists and turns, especially when several men stumble upon her family cabin on the mountain. Seeing how they co-existed (and not, IYKYK) for a while before their paths tangled was really interesting. When their paths did collide -- fireworks. LITERALLY -- and in many different ways.
How they all got to know each other, learned how to figure each other out -- I couldn't get enough of it.
I don't want to give away too much but if you LOVE a zombie apocalypse setting splashed with some heated why choose, this is the book for you!! I recommend this whole series!! (Obviously ;) )

Cora is the second book in Love In The Apocalypse and is written by N. A. Jameson.

💜 zombie apocalypse
💜 learning new skills
💜 found family
💜 why choose
💜 🌶🌶🌶 spice

At seventeen years old, Cora had been living in the mountain with her dad in their home for several years. As was their routine, they took their six month trip to town to eat at the local diner, get supplies, and for her to see her friends. This trip was different than the others, because the world was different. There was a virus that was spreading and they needed to get out now. Would they be safe? Would she and her dad survive? What was happening in the world?

This was a great addition to this world that has been created. Each book is a stand alone and are not connected. I really liked Cora’s story. She was able to hold her own and show people that she could take care of things when needed. I liked how everyone had their story and needed to work through their own issues, but they were there for each other as they navigated the healing journey. This is a good book and I look forward to any more of these books that may come out.

Cora has been living on her own since the beginning of the apocalypse. She's been alone for three years and hasn't spoken at all. She doesn't even know if she can at this point, but when four men show up at her cabin, Cora is left with a choice: keep hiding in the bunker that her father stocked well for her or see if maybe they can be a family.

I loved the banter between all the characters how Cora got in on the teasing even when she didn't speak. She would sneak out of hiding to give them something they needed or take something they had and it was fun to read them accuse each other of hiding things or pretending they didn't see things. When they discover Cora and make her come out of hiding, there is definitely some push and pull between them because she is independent, even if she is young. She will fight for what she wants and what she wants to protect.

I can't wait to read more of this series because both books have been fantastic!

I don’t know how I felt about this. Bailey was definitely closer to a 2.5 ⭐️ and Cora was a 2 ⭐️ but I rounded up for Goodreads.

There were parts I liked and parts I didn’t. I don’t really remember how I heard about these but I’ve had them to read on my Kindle for months. A good chunk was cringy and definitely read the trigger warnings. The plot was fine but very fast-paced and I feel like most of the challenges were quickly pushed under the rug.

I definitely preferred Bailey’s book over Cora’s but I was definitely disappointed in the “apocalyptic” aspect of the storyline. There was just a lot that was not believable that would take me out of the story. I love zombie apocalypse shows and movies and went in expecting similarities to that with romance and it all just fell flat.

Both are extremely quick, easy reads. I did get bored about 60% through Cora’s and ended up skimming the last 20 pages to wrap it up. I’ll probably read Dyana after it comes out and I need an easy read.

Warning. Always check the content/trigger warnings. Mental health is important.

Cora is a zombie apocalypse romance why choose story. When a young lady is left alone so long that she forgets how to talk, along comes 4 handsome men that help her find her voice again.

Love in the Apocalypse is a series that I will never get enough of, love and the world going to the zombies. What more could you want? It’s real, we get flashbacks to help understand the characters, but most of all. Family, we see how a tragic event can bring people together. There is heart, love, tragedy, and cosmic brownies!!!

Great little ending that is the door to what comes next.

We start off meeting Cora who is this sweet and caring young lady. She and her father run into town when things really take a turn. Moving forward we see how things have changed for Cora. We then meet 4 guys Isaac, Trent, Remington, and Derrick. They all have fun personalities where they either lean on being over protective or wanting to joke. The story has bits of humor that had me laughing out loud. The story is well written and developed. It definitely pulled me in and didn’t let go. We get to see how strong Cora is and how well she has survived all the challenges and changes. This story was a fantastic read and did not disappoint.

Cora is just trying to survive the apocalypse when strange men invade her home. They're under the impression that the house they stumbled upon is empty, but boy are they wrong. Her and her father had prepared for just this very thing and she's been staying in the walls the last three years. Each of her men bring something unique to the table and holy heck do I need more from them! I love remi, trent, Issac and Derrick. Each one has a different personality, but they're all the perfect found family in this crazy apocalyptic world. The spice is hot and the group scene was steamy and incredible. I definitely need at least an extended epilogue with these characters!

And men are they! They are the perfect mix of sweet and Alpha males that it makes you root for them the whole book! How do you take care of someone who can take care of herself though? Did it again!!

I love N.A. Jameson’s ability to write such amazing apocalypse love stories.

Cora (FMC) living alone for so many years has to get used to being around humans again. I didn’t expect her to be such a strong woman after everything but she definitely sneaks up on you!!

Derrick, Remi, Isaac and Trent (MMC’s) were also amazingly told and their pasts leading them to find each other and Cora is so good and heartbreaking.

Definitely a must read! Now I can’t wait to see where it will go next!

I love me a good zombie apocalypse book! And this one did not disappoint! I loved Cora! She was rather naive when it comes to socializing/relationships...oh and dealing with zombies, too... but so much more capable than the guys at actual survival. If I could give it a 4.5 ⭐️ I would, and I wanted to give it a 5 ⭐️ rating but just couldn't because of the use of "kitty." It totally gives me the ick. It's definitely a case of the "it's not you, it's me" for the rating! I still loved the book, though.

Is it possible to find love in the apocalypse you wonder? Well this book answers that question. Cora has been in her dads bunker staying alive but suddenly four men find the house and invade the space. They didn't know immediately being watched but notice things missing and at first they blame eachother. This was much fun! Cora however isn't some damsel in distress and doesn't nee rescueing. Imagine the surprise when she lets them see her. Hoping more will come in this series as this was so much fun!

I absolutely loved this book at first. It was such an improvement from the first book (that I gave up on reading on 10%). It was funny and well written. I even bailed on work because I couldn’t stop reading it. But then the last 1/3 felt different and the characters were annoying (especially Remi). The whole queen thing didn’t make sense. Why wouldn’t Cora kill her the first time she shows up and threatens them saying she would be back???? And then she didn’t kill her again! I feel like everyone just got stupid.

A Good Read

This story is a different and kinda funny twist to the apocalypse. A girl alone, surviving by hiding inside the walls of her house and spying on her four handsome guests who think the house is empty. These characters are realistic and relatable personalities. The storyline is unique and creative. It's a very entertaining story. Although this book is a part of a series, it's a standalone story. This is a highly recommended read for fans of Apocalypse Fiction, Dystopian Romance and Reverse Harem Romance stories.

Zombies, ok. Apocalypse, um ok I guess. Well that's what N. A. Jameson has given us in Cora and holy smokes was it an awesome ride of a read! There are some twists that I just didn't see coming and it was an awesome surprise. Even though Cora is mute, I love how she's able to communicate with her guys. Oh, the ending is just marvelous and wasn't what I expected, but I very much enjoyed. Happy reading!
