Tortured Royals

Rate this book
Rule #3 for a demon princess: Never surrender.

While my mates and I were trapped in The Haven, the witches have been busy, and we emerge to find the allied realms at war. When we arrive in the realm of the angels, we soon learn that the fragile peace between the realms has been shattered, and a dark power has been released.

My mates and I might just be the only ones who can end the conflict, and we'll need to bond, so we can tip the scales of the war. But can I survive a betrayal from someone I love? This war will either leave us in ruins, or show us the way to a new beginning.

Tortured Royals is a fun reverse harem fantasy novel and the third book in the Game of Psychos series. It features a fierce, sarcastic heroine, her hilarious bestie, and her lethal, possessive fated mates. Intended for audiences aged 18 years and older. **Language warning **Multiple POV

So, this last book does wrap up the story with some action, an epic battle and of course, revelations as to the FMC's true heritage.
The highlight here for me was Kind Dalton being reunited with his love Sera, though it was bittersweet experience as they have only few minutes before departing to the shadow realm. I did like the idea 💡 f dark entity being at the core but f the entire issue with the witches, but it came towards the end of the book and it would have been nice if more information was provided on it. The main heroine is the new ruler of the Demons and with the support of her partners there seems to be a bright future for them.
I am glad I finished the story, it is always a gratifying experience when you get to the happily ever after.

Mia Hartson's Tortured Royals is the third and final book in the Game of Psychos series, and it was fantastic.

Blake is finally starting to feel comfortable with her half-breed status. She doesn't care what others think, be they demons or angels. Blake has the power, I'm glad to see her owning who she is. It has been a rough road between Blake and the guys. Mason was the only one I liked from the start, and he's still my favorite. The others have made some major improvements. I like them a whole lot more now. However, Shade still holds first place as my favorite in this series. She's an even bigger hoot in this one.

The plot was incredible. There was always something going on. Action, romance, suspense, and more. It kept me fully engaged. Things got incredibly dicey in the Angel realm. The gladiator scene was one of my favorites. That was where a huge plot twist completely surprised me, especially since I was only about halfway through. It was wild. But it had nothing on the plot twist that was near the end of the book. I was thrown into a state of absolute shock. Jaw-dropping, heart-stopping shock. My mind was completely blown. No one could have seen it coming. Like, WHAT?! Well played, Mia, well played.

Tortured Royals was a complete whirlwind with some of the best twists I've ever read. I can't believe it's over. I really enjoyed living in this world even if it was for a short time.

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 (rounded up for rating)
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5

Okay, if you’re reading this review, it means that you have read books 1 & 2 because this is NOT a standalone.

I DEVOURED this book & read it in just one day!

🖤Badass FMC, Princess Blake
🐦‍⬛FMC’s best friend is a Crow named Shade (We LOVE Shade!)
🖤Hilarious banter (especially between Blake & Shade)
🐦‍⬛Protective, alphahole MMCs
🖤RH
🐦‍⬛Steam & sexual tension
🖤Hidden abilities & identity
🐦‍⬛Magic abilities
🖤Fated mates

Tortured Royals, like the rest of this series, hits the ground running with action, and we are thrown right back in the thick of it with Blake and her mates. Blake and her mates have left The Haven, but they have not completed the bond and fully come into their power…which might pose a problem considering the witches are attacking the angel realm and have infiltrated the demon realm.

Prince Callan wanted to go to his realm alone, but Blake wasn’t having that (it’s cute Callan thought Blake would let him go into danger alone 🤭). When the group heads to the angel realm…man, do we get some BACK STORY for Prince Callan and Nate! We finally get the true depths of Nate and Callan’s connection, as well as Callan’s reasons for distancing himself from Blake. Upon getting to the demon realm? A colossal storm is brewing and it’s up to Blake and her mates to get to the bottom of it. During this time, we get Alaric’s story and it’s a moving and emotional doozy.

Blake and her mates have individually been put through the ringer, and as a group. The group has questioned the Fates’ choices, and treachery at every turn has put pressure on them, threatening to break everyone apart before their bond is sealed. Will Blake and her mates be able to come into their power and defend all the realms from the witches? Or, will they just be another casualty of war?

I loved getting the backstories for our standoffish males, and watching Blake and her mates learn to function as a cohesive unit. I loved that Blake’s confidence grew amidst the adversity, and each of her mates came into their own in their bond with Blake. The world building in this series was fantastic, the banter was TOP NOTCH, and it’s a bittersweet goodbye because I would have been happy getting more from this crew!

Can’t recommend this enough!

DNF.......

I stopped at 24%. I just can NOT make myself go any further. I do not like not finishing a book. But this......I made it to the third book and my anal glaucoma kicked in. I just can't see my azz reading any further.
World Building is ok. Not the greatest but not the worst.
Romance is nill. Nothing. Nada. Zilch! Its book three and we do not even know the characters. The FMC is always called Princess Blake. Just putting the princess title on her name every time keeps her at a distance mentally and emotionally from the reader and the characters. I can not even tell you what the FMC likes or doesn't like. Except her heritage. Other than that, there is no connection. Between the reader or the characters. The characters themselves have no connection. I am not against insta love and insta mates. But, I am against them not getting to know each other. The most communication done, between the characters, is between the FMC and her bird. The FMC loves that bird. But, I can not even tell if she LIKES her mates. There is nothing personal between the FMC and her mates.
The plot....what plot? I do not even know what the plot is. What is the end goal?
The writting style is pretty good. There wasn't anything that just threw me out of story. Except the story itself. The story itself is amateurish. Like the author had so many ideas and she just threw them all into this story. Being that all these ideas can not possibly flow right, the author creates totally juvenile situations to bring about the next idea.
Different points of view. I did appreciate this.
I apologize. I am honestly trying to think of one thing that I, personally, liked about what I have read so far and all I can come up with is the bird.

3 ⭐
Book #3 of 3

🔸Demon princess
🔸Pervy, funny female crow bff
🔸RH: medium-slow, 5 M, no MM
🔸Mate bonds: instant recognition through scent but slow acceptance of the bond for some
🔸Different realms: demon, angel, shifters, giants, merfolk, witch, shadow (of the dead), human & the lost realm
🔸Different kinds of supernaturals, each with their own types/powers: e.g. giants can grow their size, shifters have different types (panther, bear, wolf, bunny,...), angels have different types of powers (wind control, healing, fire,...), demons like angels have different powers but also have horns and tails (invisibility, truth telling, controlling animals, seduction,...) and different types of demons (Inc. Incubus)
🔸War against witches
🔸Secrets
🔸Dealing with traitors
🔸Betrayal (not between MCs)
🔸FMC: tough, learnt to be strong on her own, grew up with dangerous games her father made her prove her worth, half-angel-half-demon, heir to the demon throne, hides her ability to talk with her crow bff which leaves her to look a bit eccentric by talking alone out loud
🔸Grumpy MMC
🔸Enemy-to-lovers
🔸Assassin MMC who wants to kill her
🔸Thief MMC who wants to steal from her castle
🔸Funny MMC who doesn't take things seriously
🔸Cocky MMC
🔸Romantic, dedicated MMC
🔥Spice (but few scenes)
🔸 No cheating, no MM, no OW/OM drama
🔸Happy ending

❗Mentions: death, genocide (past), torture (not too graphic), traumatic childhood (past), family abuse (past), violence, death of family member, slaves, dealing with trauma

overall notes:

🔸Final confrontation: too quick
🔸Cute, light read
🔸Lack of depth
🔸Lack of connection
🔸Some scenes where presented, dealt with and/or resolved way too fast

Tortured Royals picks up right after the conclusion of Ruthless Monsters. Blake and her mates have successfully left The Haven, but now witches are attacking the angel realm, and have made substantial inroads into the demon realm. The situation is more complicated than Blake realizes and treachery threatens to break her relationship with her mates. Can they finally work through their differences and finish their bonding in time to thwart the witches?

The story has enough twists to make it difficult to talk about in detail without spoiling anything. Suffice it to say, I found this book to be extremely satisfying as we finally explore Callan and Alaric's reasons for distancing themselves from Blake. It's also exciting to watch the six mates learn to trust and rely on each other as they address the various tricks and challenges they encounter. I would have loved for Blake to grow a little bit more confident in herself, but she does have enough character growth to be enjoyable. A thrilling conclusion to the Game of Psychos series.

The witches have almost destroyed the alliance between realms while Blake and her guys were trapped in the Haven in the last book. This third installment starts right where the last left off with the group entering the angels realm, Prince Callan's home, in the middle of a battle. Helping win the battle didn't help win any points with his mother the queen however and they'll have to fight their way to freedom and save one of their own. Fleeing back to the demon realm, they discover even more trouble in a plot to overthrow the kingdom. Blake's group will have to bond to find the strenghth to fight this new evil.
This was an exciting finale to this action packed series. I'm glad the group worked out all issues. I love how all their individual powers were strengthened after their bond and they learned to combine them to make them unstoppable. Dante and Nate were still my favorite throughout the series. The ending had a surprising twist and a heartbreaking loss before the group gets their well-deserved HEA.

This was an absolutely amazing conclusion to the Game of Psychos series and I really need some alcohol ... and cake.

Now Mason has joined the group Princess Blake has 5 mates but with some resistance from Callan and Alaric bonding may be a problem. And without bonding Blake will not come into her full power so ruling Seral may be difficult as she will face opposition.
There were so many trials they had to face during this book. An evil Queen, battles, betrayals and secrets, the shocks and surprises just kept coming. It was great to see the mates coming together and forming a brother type bond and Shade was as usual the star of the show with her humour. I also enjoyed an appearance of Scarlett and her mates from a previous novella Delicious Demons which was in the Crimson Vendetta anthology. There was no way I could have predicted the way that story went but I loved every minute of it even the parts where I was jumping out of my seat shouting "No way!"
I can't recommend this series highly enough and it is definitely up there as one of my all time favourites

*Tortured Royals* kicks off with non-stop action, throwing Blake and her mates back into the chaos. They’ve left The Haven but haven’t completed their bond or fully embraced their powers, which becomes a problem as witches threaten both the angel and demon realms.

Though Prince Callan initially wants to handle his realm alone, Blake insists on going with him. In the angel realm, we dive deep into Callan and Nate’s backstory, revealing the true depth of their bond. When they reach the demon realm, a storm brews, and Blake and her mates must face it head-on. Along the way, we also learn more about Alaric’s emotional journey.

The group faces intense challenges and treachery, testing their bond and their trust in the Fates. As they fight to protect the realms, the question remains: will they succeed, or fall in the war?

I loved the emotional depth of the characters, the world-building, and the banter. This series ended on a high note, and I’m sad to say goodbye to these characters. Highly recommend!

What a fantastic conclusion to the Game of Psychos Series!

This series has been all action from page one and that continues right through to the last page. We pick up right where we left off, when Prince Callan went to help his people when he heard the witches were attacking there. Big shock, Blake and the other mates all went with him, along with Shade, Blake’s best friend and crow. There, they meet up with Blake’s father, the demon king, who needs Blake to deal with the queen of the angels. It’s just one thing after another with Blake and her mates. In this one we got to learn how Callan and Nate met. Of course, the way they all interact, including Shade, makes the story. I really love the way they all came to bond and begin to trust themselves and each other. The ending really just made this series. I cannot recommend this series highly enough. There’s plenty of action, growing into the people they were meant to be and accepting the past and most of all, love.

This book starts right where Book 2 left off and the witches and angels continue to be causing the drama in the realm.

Blake really comes into her own when it comes to embracing her half-breed identity. She no longer cares what anyone—whether demon or angel—thinks about her. She’s fully owning her power, and her confidence shines through even though it’s been a bumpy road for her and the guys.

Shade the crow will always be one of my fav side characters and she is even better in this book.

Tortured Royals was a fantastic ride but watching the tension finally resolve between Blake and 2 of her mates (Yes!!!!) was the hook that kept be reading.

The action was fabulous and, given this is the last book in the series, it was great to see the major plot twists that just kept the story racing along.

Another fabulous world building and a great way to end this series. Easily one of my favourite book series.

I was an ARC reader for this book.

What an amazing conclusion! These royals have been through hell and back (both literally and figuratively), and I absolutely loved the steps they took throughout this series. This final book in their story is action-packed from start to finish, and finally resolves the issues between Blake and two of her mates. Watching them all come together was fun, but the best part of this series for me will forever be the worldbuilding and the banter between the characters. Together, it created a true page-turner and it is bittersweet to say goodbye to these characters now.

I'm tempted to add this series to a very small list of future rereads, that's how much I loved it. I'm not sure if I'm hoping for a fascinating side character's story in the future, or something new and surprising... I just believe I'll love them all anyway!

A great conclusion to the series!

The growth of our characters was always going to be minimal, but with some more time together facing challenges and their own hesitations, the fated mates accepted the call. Once everyone was finally on the same page part way through this book it was an extra spicy and steamy good time.

All the mysteries and questions that were spinning throughout I thought came to satisfying resolutions by the end. Nothing was too surprising with the direction things went. Although it was a pretty quick resolution each character had their part to play in the exciting last act and we got some good results.

We did get a quick epilogue, but nothing too expansive, just a nice indication of where things were vaguely going for our MCs and this world.

This universe was a fun one to explore with some great characters!

We step right back into the world where we left off in book 2. Blake and Shade are still making me laugh. I really don’t think this series would have been as good with her crow. I just adore him.
We have plenty of action again in this book with the witches causing problems for our crew.
We learn more about Blake’s mates and their reasoning for keeping their distance from her. I’ve come to like all of them at this point but I do have my favorites. Certain men still have some work to do in my opinion. It’s hard to elaborate any more without spoilers.
I was able to read the book in one day, forgoing my plans because I didn’t want to put it down.
Although I mainly read books, this series is great enough that I will be purchasing physical copies for my library. Great job Mia.

Book 3 drops us right where Ruthless Monsters ended. There is just as much danger, intrigue, betrayal, loss, and love that we expect in Blake's life. After finally discovering Prince Callan and Alaric's secrets… tge reason they were dragging their heels, I found myself accepting and respecting them as much as Blake does. Now if the bonding really dies increase their powers it woukd be truly helpful against the witch attacks!

Besides Callan and Alaric's surprises, there are a couple other doozies. Did not see either coming.

Way to keep the reader guessing and on their toes!

I'll miss this lot but realky enjoyed their finale.

Fantastic!!!😍😍😍

The only bad thing about this series is that it's OVER!😭😭😭 This was an amazing ride!! Wow!!😍😍 Usually with a multi book series I'm ready for it to be done long before this series was, but I'm so sad that it's over! I hope there will be another series to spring from it, maybe Shade, hint hint! 😂😍 The characters were awesome, the drama, the romance, the spice, the humor, the complex relationships, the plot was freaking outstanding!! OMG, even I didn't figure it out in advance, and I ALWAYS figure it out! This author is dynamite! At least with this series, anyway! I'm soooo glad I took a chance on these 3 books, they were everything you could ask for! Kudos to the author, you rock!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍

Absolutely LOVED it!! Book 3 was great and there were so many unexpected twists and a few not so unexpected ones. The twists were great and you will need tissues for this last book just a fair warning now❤️ I loved all of the guys and this was a great ending to this series. I can’t wait to read more from this author and will definitely be getting all of the physical copies for this series to add to my collection. I will miss Blake, her guys and Shade until my next reread😏 I want to write more but don't want to spoil anything. I definitely recommend reading this series if you haven't yet. You won't regret it!

It was a satisfying end to a great series with our merry band of travelers. Blake's ascension to Queendom is filled with challenges along the way.

We finally understand why the Prince refuses to mate with Blake and his animosity toward her Thief. But it's not until after some heartbreak, betrayal, and bloodshed.

Then we have our loner Drozac assassin coming to turns of having her as a mate after disregarding his revenge against his brother's killer.

This is the second series I've read from Mia Hartson and it certainly will not be the last. Actually I look forward to re-reading this series again.

2025:

"There's more to family than blood."

I loved every single thing about this book.
What an incredible ending to this awesome trilogy.
Mia has done a wonderful job, tying up so many plot points whilst still dangling some carrots moving forward.
The storyline was great. I was in a constant state of O.M.G! And then the spice...AMAZING.
With funny banter and events that kept you on your toes...Tortured Royals is the wrap up that these characters absolutely deserved and more. It was everything.
I can't wait to see what adventures and worlds Mia creates next.

What a finale to this amazing trilogy! I loved every second of it, even though Mia Hartson made me cry when I wasn't expecting it! I'm not sure what I will do without Blake and her mates living rent free in my head. I've loved each book, and enjoyed getting to know Blake and each mate, as well as my personal favorite, Shade (who I really hope gets her own story). This finale had spice, action, redemption, and mystery. Don't sit out on the Game of Psychos trilogy!

I had the opportunity to receive a copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Honestly I loved this series ! To tell you the truth I cried when I realized the series I was wanting to binge hadn’t released this book for a whole week when I started it! I genuinely thought they were all released initially so I cried having to wait for this book to come out! Boy am I glad I did! This series was sooo good! & I loved how badass Blake was! Her mates were absolutely HAWT too! I’m kinda glad it was a medium burn & there wasn’t any insta-love except for one mate in a sense. It was nice to read & see how they all came together slowly.

Aww what a great ending! I have to admit it took Mia a long time to get there and it was a tad dragged out but all 6 of them finally they got their acts together! I never understand why in some books they don't accept the mate thing. I get that at first it can seem weird but after two books and getting to know the person, seems unlikely.
I loved how it tied in everything from before Blake was born. I do wish we got more screen time with Dante. We didn't really get to go into his past or Nates as much as the others.
Interested to find out what Shades story is.

What A Roller-coaster!

Well all kinds of twisty stuff be happening up in here.
This story picks up right where the other story ended.
So then dang witches! Brewing a dark dose of chaos that only the Mates can stop. Speaking of Mates we get some back story for Alaric and Callen and why they be so stand offish.
The emotions are all over the place. As our Game of Psychos draws to a close, what a series if you haven't... you really should.

What an amazing book! I love watching all the characters come together and finally stop being turds (ok maybe just a couple of them).

Shade is truly the best friend a girl could ask for. Who wouldn’t want a birdie bestie who can talk to you telepathically!

Blake is one tough girl who has been through hell and back. It’s about time she can just enjoy her mates and not worry about the end of the world!

For real tho this book was an amazing finish to this wonderful series ❤️

What a world wind of emotions. The final conclusion starts right where we left off from book 2. We witness the resolution from two of Blake's mates, and see her become who she is meant to be. I still love Shade being the crow that she is along with how protective she is when it comes to Blake. To me Shade should have her own book so we can see how her and Blake met and the adventures she has been on before Blake. Overall the series was amazing!

Such a great conclusion to Blake's story!
Blake and her mates truly deserved it!
There was no shortage of action and twists. There was also delicious steam, love, and trust between them.

We finally see Blake and all her mates officially come together. Those bonds strengthen throughout the book. We also get answers regarding some of the guys.
Blake remained a kick butt FMC. I loved her character.
Overall, I think this was an excellent trilogy and ending!

Never a dull moment reading this series.
Witches, shifters, demons, angels. It has almost every type of character you could want.
Fight scenes, super spicy scenes, even emotional scenes.
I will say that I loved the characters growth throughout this entire series.
Don’t even get me started on the humor! I absolutely loved the banter, & all the dirty jokes Shade made.

Spicey 🌶️🌶️🌶️

This is book 3 in the series and we wrap up those lose ends and get some new twists to keep things interesting.

Blake is determined to get to the bottom of all the secrets and to ultimately get all the releams working together for the common good.

Love the tension between Blake and Alaric and we learn the reasoning behind him joining the assassins.

Everything gets wrapped up nicely and Blake gets her HEA.
