Finally…sourdough baking expert Lisa Bass from Farmhouse on Boone has collected ALL of her sourdough wisdom and advice – plus recipes (the classics and the brand new ones) into one, beautiful book called Daily Sourdough!
This book isn’t just about baking sourdough bread, though you’ll get plenty of delicious sourdough bread recipes. But Lisa shares how easy sourdough can be and a natural part of your everyday life, one that produces healthy and delicious food for your family at every meal.
This book will teach you everything you need to know about sourdough baking, from the starter, to bread, to skillet meals, cookies, and even pretzels, all made from sourdough. Daily Sourdough demystifies the art and science of sourdough baking, once and for all.
I just got this in the mail and immediately dropped what I was doing to flip through it. I’m pleasantly surprised by the incredible high quality of the book itself, it will definitely stand up to heavy use for years and years, and I’m happy to see how many full page color pictures there are - it looks like every single recipe has its own picture as well, which is becoming non-negotiable to me these days. There’s a good amount of basic instructions in the first quarter of the book, and is well set up for quick reference. I like how she divided the recipes, it’s the way I think of sourdough recipes: bread loaves, pastries/quick breads, desserts, and discard recipes. I don’t know if all these recipes are on her blog, at least there are many that I don’t recognize. I definitely will be making the jalapeño-cheddar bagels asap. But a lot of recipes that I go back to again and again are here too, so I’ll be glad to not have to search for them on her blog every time.
I had planned to give this to my daughter as a Christmas gift but now I’m not sure I want to wait that long to have it out and accessible!
I've read this through, made my own starter and began working through the recipes over the past month. We haven't tried anything we haven't enjoyed. It's easy to use and a great resource.
One of the best no nonsense books. Lisa really shows how to integrate sourdough into your cooking. From boules, to pan loaves, cakes and popovers she provides a variety of items to fit into daily cooking routine.
