Adrian Wellington was beyond devastated when his wife, Shay, left him seventeen years ago without warning or explanation. She filed for divorce and left town, right when he needed her most. She made a promise to herself to never be the person she was all those years ago. She took with her the secret that she thought was hers to bear alone.
When Shay is forced to move back home to care for her mother, naturally karma would choose that time for their worlds to collide once again.
Can lightning strike a second time seventeen years later and bring two destined souls back together, or will Shay’s secret destroy their second chance?
The truth, although not what it seems, will set your heart free.

Annalisa Nicole has a way of writing that sucker punches me right to my heart. I always end up with tissues crumpled and red and puffy eyes. But this is not a BAD thing see. It's a beautiful and sentimental wonderful thing.
Adrian is the oldest brother and while he stands around watching his younger siblings enjoy and cherish their wives/husbands and children, he's alone.
Remembering the girl that got away and not only broke his heart but just completely disappeared.
Shay has harbored such guilt from that one tragic day and when these two come back together, there is no way that walls won't crumble and hearts won't heal. The love was just to strong to keep those barriers in place.
One amazing scene nearly caused kindle combustion. The passion between these two was seventeen years overdue and BAM!
Adrian was so real and such a man, in so many ways he just seemed so amazing in how he cared for Shay.
Shay loved not only Adrian but she had so much love in her heart that she took the responsibility of so many things on her shoulders. I really felt like she was an amazing and extraordinary character.
I laughed, cried and rooted with them and for them. I enjoyed this book just like the previous ones and can't wait for both Ava and Jax's story and to finally see Chloe and Max get their crap together. This author is just one I want to tuck into my pocket and keep for my happy place.
Her stories are layered in so many meaningful lessons. The experiences the characters go through drill home the meaning of LOVE , FAMILY and FORGIVENESS.
I'm always left with the most peaceful feeling in my heart and I immediately want to reach out to my loved ones and hug them close. If you love romance with sweet lessons and sizzling chemistry then Annalisa Nicole is a must read author.
Second Chance is the third book in the Running into Love series by Annalisa Nicole. I have read all of three books and I have to say each one is just as great as the one before. What I have truly come to love about this series is that the story isn't bogged down with a lot of extra or unneeded drama. These stories also really do cater to the hopeless romantic in me. I love that Annalisa starts the story right away from the beginning….there isn't a lot of extra info in the story. I love that she moves the story along fairly quickly. Nothing is dragged out for too long. In this book I loved that we didn't have to wait too long to know the real reason and the whole reason for why Shay left town 17 years ago without a word. I also enjoy that all the chapters are written in Dual POV so we get both of their thoughts without an kind of repetition. Again in this book as well as the first two, we get the complete story of Adrian and Shay. We get to see things from their past, we get their present and she expanded the story long enough to see how things will look for them in the future. With that said she did include a little suspense aspect to this story and she also set up the story for the next two installments in this series. I was glad to see at the end that Chloe and Max will be getting a novella, because there are questions there that aren't answered in this book!!! I have to say that to me this book really sent a powerful message, actually two. One being that the truth will always set you free and the second was to not take things for granted because you just never know when your time is up on earth. Live each day to the fullest!!!!
This book is the story of Adrian and Shay. This is a second chance love story, in the fact that Adrian and Shay were together 17 years ago but something tragic happens and Shay decided to leave without a word to anyone. Shay then moves across country to live her life on her own. That is until she is called back to Seattle by her brother because her mom is ill and she needs to take care of her. Shortly after she arrives back home she runs into Adrian (literally) and his family. What happens after that is the story of these two trying to find their way back to each other. I don't want to tell the whole story :) I liked Shay's character a lot. You could tell she was a strong and independent woman, but my heart also broke for her because she carried a lot of guilt from the past. It was great to see her grow throughout the story. Adrian was a fabulous character. I loved when he called her "Doll" I also loved that once he finds out the truth he was so accepting of her and would do everything he could to get her back and to keep her. He wasn't willing to let her run away again for any reason.
What I loved the most about this book is that it almost seems like a continuation then a whole new story. It picks up right where the second book ended. There is no time lost and the only thing different is the focus on the main couple is different. With this that means we get to see all the old characters from the two previous books. I love that this book shows just how strong and loyal the Wellington family is. This is a family that I think everyone would love to be a part of.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the second chance love story. Also if you are looking for a quick read, with some steam and not a lot of drama, then this is the book/series for you!!!! I look forward to reading more about this family.
I'm a sucker for second chance romance, and that was the main reason why I picked up this book. I was left quite disappointed. Plot was very predictable and everything was moving too fast.
Second Chance is the third book in the Running Into Love Series by Annalisa Nicole. Although it continues telling us about the Wellington clan, it can be read as a standalone.
This is the story of the oldest Wellington sibling, Adrian, and his ex-wife, Shay Bradshaw. As with Ms. Nicole’s other books, the two lead character’s meeting is a literal “run in,” and this time it is meeting-by-crashing as they run into each other while ice skating on the frozen pond at the Wellington vacation home.
Adrian and Shay were high school sweethearts. They were also soul mates. Seventeen years have passed without any contact, so what the hell is Shay doing back in town, let alone here? One look at each other and there is no mistaking the pull is still there. But they each also carry years of hurt, anger, and misunderstanding that could be their undoing. Each has their own recollection of what led to their divorce and their own burden to bear. But can they both work through their own issues to find a way back together again for a second chance at the real thing?
I appreciate the way that Ms. Nicole dealt with the roller coaster of emotions surrounding Adrian and Shay. At times I wanted to line them both up and slap them silly, and I shouted “GROW UP” at both characters a couple of times. But then I stepped back and thought about what they were going through, and their behavior made much more sense. Hurt is hurt, whether you’re 18 or 35.
My one complaint of the story is that it seemed a bit rushed to me towards the later chapters. There were many directions the story was heading, so I’m going to assume we will get further explanation in the next book. I think fewer points might have helped the flow. But the ending did leave me wanting more of the series, so that’s a good thing! I really like this cast of characters. I would give this 4.25/5 stars.
I have loved Annalisa's previous books, and this one is just as great as the others. This books series revolves around the Wellington family, and each one is about a different family member, and how they find love. What I like about these books, is that you can read them as standalones, you don't have to read the other books to enjoy the storyline. I described her first book 'Take A Chance' as a modern day fairytale, and she has kept this theme throughout all her books, and I honestly, can't get enough of them. 'Second Chance' is the story of Adrian Wellington, who has been married before and hasn't seen his ex wife, Shay, for 17 years, until she bumps (literally) into him while skating. What follows is the story of this beautiful couple, that will leave you with all sorts of emotions. I laughed, cried (in several parts), and fell in love with this family a little bit more. Adrian and Shay have lots of hurdles to overcome for their love to survive, and the roller coaster ride they take us on, is one to be enjoyed. Although not always smooth sailing, you will love how the characters evolve, and work their way into your heart. Annalisa has hinted at the end of 'Second Chance' of future books for some of the other well loved members of the Wellington family, so, I hope we don't have to wait too long. Love this series!
Since this story had really great romance, and was written really well for a 2person POV love story I have to give it 3 1/2 stars I feel that I could have gotten to know more of the characters as a person I kept thinking something is missing every time I would get switched from character to character, don't get me wrong it was written as any romance story should be with a happy ending I guess in a way I was waiting for that something bad to happen as it always does. This is a romance novel that I do think people will in enjoy. I will most deff read more from this author as she did an outstanding job with the story plot and the characters.

I always know that I will get a both happy and sad tears with this series, and Adrian and Shays story did not leave me dry-eyed.
Teenage sweethearts who got married after graduation, planning on attending college together, excited about the life ahead of them. Unfortunately an argument, a car accident, and over hearing some conversations - unexpectedly divides these two permanently. That is until 17 years later, when fate steps in and these two literally run into each other again, bringing back up all the pain and questions about what really happened back then.
Shay had come back to town to take care of her mother who had a stroke. She knew there was the possibility of running into Adrian or his family, she just didn't know she would end up working with him. Seeing him was breaking her heart all over again. Sure, she was the one who ran, but she had her reasons - even if he didn't know all of them. She knew Adrian and his family blamed her for everything.
Shay was not the same person from 17 years ago. She had lost her spark, and Adrian needed to find out why - along with why she just took off 17 years ago without any explanation. He's determined to find the answers because he still loves
her, never stopped, and he's thinking this could possibly be their second chance at love.
Oh, my heart broke so badly for both of them - for all the things that Shay felt 17 years ago. I could really understand her actions and pain - especially realizing that she was so young at the time, and didn't know what to do. I could also understand all the questions Adrian had, and was so glad he was bound and determined to not let her run again - and get all the answers he needed.
I absolutely loved this story. I enjoyed watching Adrian and Shay find their way back to each other, giving and accepting forgiveness, rediscovering the people they are now, and moving forward creating a new life together again. I love how we get to experience all their ups and downs, not just with Shay and Adrian, but with the entire Wellington family and their extended friends. This is a beautiful series and I am anxiously awaiting for Chloe and Max's story.
I wish I could give half stars because this really is a 4.5 star review for me !! I did enjoy the book , it was a quick read and kept me very interested. I had one issue with it and I will get to that after all the good stuff !! I will definitely read more from Annalisa Nicole and I would recommend the books to others. If you have been following the series you have already met the family and are pretty well acquainted with the whole Wellington clan and their extended families as well. This book is about Adrian Wellington and his ex-wife Shay. I will admit I did not read books 1 & 2 but that did not hinder this book at all for me.
Adrian is a HOT,single 35 year old. He runs a construction company and loves being with his family. For years he has been missing something or maybe just someone. You quickly learn that 17 years ago he was married to his high school sweetheart Shay. After a tragedy strikes them Shay takes off without a word leaving behind only divorce papers. Leaving Adrian to pick up the pieces of a life changing injury and some serious depression. Now on the brink of a great work project Adrian is face to face with the woman who ruined him. When Shay took off all those years ago she went to college and became a pretty successful architect. The memories of that tragic day have never been far from her mind. Because of her choices she lost the only man she has ever loved. Now forced to move back to her hometown to care for her sick mother Shay will be forced to face her past and finally tell the truth and find closure about her leaving. Reading about both their loses and suffering was heartbreaking. I could relate and understand their insecurities. I loved reading about their re-connection. It was a beautiful heartfelt story of love , healing and honesty. Of course the HOT SEX was a bonus !!!!!
WHAT I LOVED- * Absolutely hands down loved the Wellington family ! I enjoyed what each and everyone of them brought to the story and what they will be bringing to future stories !! * Adrian is a phenomenal hardworking guy ! He is so full of love for his family and Shay. * I loved the twists and turns , the bits and pieces of real life drama that were easy to connect with. * Without spoiling I have to say that I LOVE what Shay and Adrian do. It was beautiful and heartwarming when they opened their hearts and home.
WHAT I DISLIKED- * SHAY OMG she drove me crazy. This happens every now and then in books. I understood her reason for leaving 17 years ago. But her actions during certain parts of the re-connection were just immature and ridiculous. I wanted to strangle her. Adults are suppose to talk things out. *As much as I loved what they did to create their family I hated how they jumped so fast to do that without any real reasoning and then how it happened so fast for them it just seemed unrealistic.
I am looking forward to going back and reading books 1&2 and Annalisa set up a great path for the next few stories as well !!

WOW… Annalisa Nicole does it again, Second Chance is another off the charts wonderfully written love story that you just can’t put down and is a must read. I said this before all these books are written so well that they can stand on their own as standalone books, but you really should read them in order to get the entire picture of the depth of the Wellington family, a wonderful family that is there for each other at all cost.
This book starts out where book 2 ended without skipping a beat and is Adrian and Shay's story. While at the family cabin in the mountains Adrian and Shay literally run into each other while ice skating on the family pond. This story is slightly different as in they do not become star cross lovers as they had already loved each other 17 years earlier. Shay and Adrian were high school sweet hearts, who ran off and got married a few weeks before leaving for Boston College where Adrian had a hockey scholarship and where Shay would major in architecture. On their way to Adrian parent's house for their last Sunday dinner, they were arguing in the car and Shay lost control. Shay wasn't hurt but Adrian had a severe injury to his leg, while at the hospital, Shay overheard Adrian and his family blaming her for the accident and not being able to handle the guilt she left telling no one. Adrian was served with divorce papers couple weeks later.
This story is written from both main characters POV’s Adrian and Shay, so as you are reading the story you get to know what each of them are feeling and thinking as the story progresses. Annalisa writing flows effortlessly and she paints you a vivid picture and you have no trouble seeing what you read. As always you get the continuation of Willow/Asher, Amelia/Kyle, and the rest of the Wellingtons and their extended family members lives as this story continues. This is a beautiful love story that has you going a little more through the emotions than the first two. There are a few tragedies, and you will get mad or angry, you will laugh and you will cry with them too. This story has a little drama and is about overcoming tragedy, trust, loss, recovery, healing, and second chances of a first and only love. It has a few twist you do not see coming and with that a bit of conflict, mystery, suspense, and crime. I give this 5 stars and I recommend this book to everyone, so do not miss out on this series, go one click it today. I leave you with the fact that again I cannot wait to read the next book about this amazing family.

I just finished Second Chance and I liked it. It was just a cute all around story that will lighten your heart. This is apart of the Running into Love series so I recommend reading this in order to understand what is going on. This is about the Wellington family so the first is Taking a Chance with is Asher (Wellington and Willow. The 2nd is I'll take a Chance which is about Amelia (Wellington) and Kyle. This is the 3rd in the series and it is about Adrian (Wellington) and Shay. They used to be married, over 17 years ago. Married right after high school and was going to go to college together. Shay in architecture and Adrian was on a hockey scholarship. One night, they got into an accident. Things were changed in an instance. Adrian lost his scholarship because of his busted leg and Shay left. Ran away and sent divorce papers to Adrian. So saying that his family dislikes Shay is saying that lightly. They were there for Adrian during his darkest time while Shay was a coward (in their eyes) and was gone. 17 years later they literally bump into each other and they anger and animosity is very apparent but love is still in the air. Shay has her secrets as to why she left and Adrian is doing his hardest to figure it out. When secrets are open to all will Shay and Adrian still want to be together? You will have to read and see...
I liked this story and I thought that it flowed really well. I loved how we were able to catch up the characters and see what they were doing. They seem like such a cute family and so loveable that when you find out Shay's secrets I was kind of disappointed in the family. I was shocked to say the least. But people say things out of anger and I forgave them too.
Adrian was a hottie of course, seems to me that whole family is sexy..lol. but I Adrian was a sweetheart and I liked that he was willing to drop all pretenses and just be with Shay again. Shay, I liked her too but to be honest, she got on my nerves. She really did run away at things and I just felt that after the first times she would have learned her lesson and just talk to Adrian but this is story, got to have some obstacles. The chemistry between them was hot, I to be honest just wanted more from them in the sheets, if you know what I mean.
Overall this was a good story and I can tell that the author put time and effort to make it the best story she can and I think she did a good job. There were a couple of instances that I would have changed but alas this is not my story but it was still an enjoyable read.

So overwhelmed, this book...so many feels- review to come for blog post 6/13/14
Often when I finish a book I worry that my review will not convey how it affected me. To be honest most books are good, and it is easy to move on to the next. This book! Holy mother of monkeys! I couldn’t put it down. And the tears aren’t all sad-some are truly laugh out loud funny. There are no words for how much this book is affected me. Love that the focus of the story is their love. Yes life goes on, there is some drama and turmoil, but this is truly a romance. A love story all around. The story resonated with me. These characters have taken hold of my heart and I am perfectly fine with that fact. Like their relationship-he cares even though he has been cradling this broken heart for 17 years. She has tried to change her entire nature to prevent hurting anyone, but has only succeeded in dampening her spirit. They don’t lie about how they still feel. They do their healing and falling back into each together. The passion jumps off the page, they both come back to life with the other. After some missteps and false starts they are both in it- all in. Even when she gets scared and runs he’s there. Even when he has loss and she has loss they turn to each other. He is his best honest self with her and she is as well. He writes her beautiful poetry. (Cue sobs) Neither of them take the second chance they’ve been given for granted. With a few exceptions (because we still need some drama) they actually communicate!!! It’s also a huge family ensemble piece-they all love each other fiercely and take care of each other. They rally around and put family first. Well-written, funny, tender and stunning-just no words. Beautiful and overwhelming. Really fucking incredible. And can I say damn- those Wellington boys are something else- when Asher gives Willow the new charm, how Adrian doesn’t give up even when Shay runs or tries to close down, whew- love them. They are all appreciative and honor the love they have been given. The love they see in their parents is the marker for their hearts, their true north.
In the third installment of Annalisa Nicole's Running Into Love series SECOND CHANCE we get Adrian Wellingtons story, and as the name suggests this is a tale of lost love and second chances. Adrian was married young, many years ago to his childhood sweetheart Shay. Young love as they say can be tricky and after being in a serious car accident involving both himself and Shay, which left Adrian unable to realise his dream of a professional sports star, and a wife, Shay disappearing after the accident and serving him with divorce papers.
When both Shay and Adrian literally collide on an ice skating rink all these years later, they are both left shaken and angry, and then being forced to work together on a project neither can lose, old hurts come to the surface and they both have to decide if the other is worth this chance they have at healing old wounds and reconnection, is this their second chance??
Annalisa'a writing has an almost modern day fairy tale quality to it, and what I love is that there is no unnecessary angst in her stories. Sure there is drama and yes sometimes heartache but Annalisa is an author whose books I pick up when I want to remember that love can conquer all.
The similarities between each of the books in the Running Into Love series are there, but Second Chance had less of the fairy tale and a dash more realism for me. Lost love, past hurts and two people trying to move on from someone they've never truly forgotten. While I loved getting to know Adrian & Shay's story I didn't feel as invested with this couple as I did with others in the previous books. I'm not sure I could even tell you the reason for the disconnect, I was connected, I was invested but I lost my way a little in the middle and found myself wondering more about Chloe and Max, two members of the extended Wellington clan. Two characters I desperately hope get their HEA. Despite losing my way somewhere along the way, Annalisa drew me back in towards the end, she once again had me invested and left a smile on my face as I finished the last page.
If you haven't picked up this series yet, do yourself a favour and pick up Take A Chance and start there.
Seventeen years ago Shay left. She left her husband, his amazing family, her family and the college she had planned to attend. She was filled with guilt and devestating heartbreak and she just flat out couldn’t deal with it.
Why do we really not like her? Well, she did this to Adrian. Yes Adrian, brother to all the HOT Wellington men (I know….she’s lost her mind, right?) but she had a valid reason. The accident….
Adrian and Shay had a, well, passionate relationship to say the least. Not all of this was limited to the bedroom but even in everyday life. They argued fiercely, made love passionately and both stood their ground. They were arguing while Shay was driving and the accident that caused so much heartache took away all of Adrian’s plans and broke Shay’s heart in more than one way.
After seventeen years Shay has to come back to town to care for her mother. She hates coming back but had no choice. She had no idea she would literally run into Adrian again. To make matters worse they would end up working together. Can they work together? Can they move on from the past and either have a professional relationship or is it possible to give love a second chance?
I love the Wellington family so much but I was shocked by their actions in this book. However, they definitely make up for it. I love how Adrian takes up for Shay immediately upon hearing her side of the story and puts his own family in it’s place. Will he let her go a second time? If she runs this time, will he be able to find her?
What an excellently written book…again! I am a huge fan of Annalisa’s since reading the first book of this series. If you haven’t read this series I’d buy them all and just keep reading!!!! You won’t be sorry!!!!
Adrian is the oldest of his siblings and while he sees them finding love, he remembers the love he lost. She didn't die like Asher's first wife, she just left. Shay disappeared and served divorce papers through a lawyer, because she couldn't face Adrian and his family after the crash she thinks was all her fault. They all blamed her or so she thought and they never knew just how much was lost that day. 17 years later and Shay is forced back to Seattle to take care of her ill mother, and runs into the entire Wellington clan and old animosities rise quickly, hope that she can avoid Aiden is quickly squashed when they find themselves working together. Can all the secrets between them come to light and help them find their way together or are they destined to spend the next 17 years the same way as the last?
Adrian knows what he wants but after his wife ran away from him while he was in the hospital he never thought he'd get another chance. When they see each other again he's a determined man, refusing to let things go like he did once before. He's funny and sweet and oh so caring and I loved seeing him face off against anyone who stood in his way of his happiness.
Shay has gone through things most wouldn't wish to have happen to them and she did it all alone. She's a bit of a chicken running away at every turn instead of facing things head on, but she does redeem herself. I enjoyed the banter between the two and I definitely enjoyed seeing more of the Wellington clan and the extended family. This series keeps growing and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Annalisa has done it yet again. If you’ve read the rest of this series, you will not want to miss Second Chance. Even if you haven’t read the previous two books, Annalisa gives a wonderful back-story throughout this book that you’ll easily be caught up. But, to get the full emotional entanglement of this entire set of family and friends, I highly suggest you read them before beginning Second Chances.
Second Chances begins where book two ended without skipping a beat and so we begin the journey that is Adrian and Shay’s life. A family cabin and a chance meeting has brought these to lover’s together once again. But, past secrets may just ruin their Second Chance.
Having Second Chance in a dual point-of-view was fantastic. I loved being able to get inside both Adrian and Shay’s heads. Annalisa has made their story flow effortlessly and will have you falling in love with these characters all over again. This story is filled with love, acceptance, forgiveness, drama and heartache. But in the end, healing is what this story is about. This book has twists you will not see coming and it will bring tears to your eyes. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. I can’t wait for the next book and to see where this family will take us next.
If you love a good love story filled with conflict, loss, suspense and drama you will not want to miss Second Chances or this entire series.
Oh how I love the Wellington's! This is a wonderful accompaniment to the Running Into Love series! I fell for Willow and Asher, Amelia and Kyle and it was no different here with Adrian and Shay.
Shay Bradshaw has always been a fighter, tooth and nail. She's always been good at it loved the challenge of coming out on top. Then one day that changed with a tragedy she has shoulder alone for too many years. She ran from everyone and everything she knew to keep her secret. Now Sha has come home for her own reasons and things will get messy.
Adrian Wellington found the once in a lifetime, fairy tale love years ago. Life was good, headed up and with a great life to look forward to. Until his spitfire love up and disappeared on him without a word or warning. Sure they had their problems and their issues, who doesn't? But Adrian has no clue what made Shay run. Ever since she left his life has been work and questioning... Until she shows up just as suddenly and just as out of the blue as when she left. Now he wants answers.
Shay and Adrian have a lot to discuss, if they can stand being in the same room together long enough.
I love the real life issues that Shay and Adrian go through and make this rocky love story real to the reader! This is definitely a must read!
Adrian Wellington and Shay Bradshaw were high school sweethearts that got married at the young age of 18. After a tragic car accident, Shay leaves town and files for divorce with no explanation whatsoever to Adrian. 17 years later Shay must return to the town she fled to care for her mother. Shay would do anything to avoid running into Adrian but fate has other plans and they are forced to work together. Adrian soon realizes that Shay is not the cold hearted person he thought she was and knows she hiding something. He wants to give her a chance but his family wants nothing to do with her.
I love watching these two struggle to come back together. Adrian is a sweetheart. I do feel like if they had only talked to each other open and honestly when the accident happened, then their whole separation could have been avoided. The story is told from both POV's so you get to really know these characters and what's going on in their heads.
When everything comes together in the end, we get a beautiful, healing HEA. This is the first book I've read by Annalisa Nicole and I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.
What do you look for in a book, rather a romance book. I know I look for Romance, Drama, Love, happiness and so on. If you want, or need all that in a book to have you hooked. Then look no more, Annalisa's book is the one for you.
Love--There is plenty of love in this book, Not just the main character, but everyone in the book is in love, and all...can you guess it...yes happy.
Drama--I for one love drama in books only though. This book definitely delivers on the drama part.
Character's-- I fell in love with the character's in the First book, and only adore them even more now.
This book not only had me feeling mad, happy, in tears for joy, and sadness , it had me wanting more. The whole time I was on edge of what will happen next.
My advice, go grab it when you can you will not be disappointed. I sure wasn't.
This is book 3 in the Running Into Love Series. I gave this book 5 stars.
This is Adrian and Shay's story. Annalisa has done it again ! With yet another beautiful, heartfelt story.
It is a story about second chances and giving everything you have to love.
Adrian and Shay were high school sweethearts. But things happen and they went their separate ways. 17 years later fate has different ideas for them. And they are once again brought together, will they give into this romance and give it a second chance?
This is a fast paced story full of drama, love and sex. AND so much more! It kept me captivated all the way to the very end! Thank you so much for another amazing book in this series! <3
Adrian never counted on running into his ex-wife again. Or more accurately he never counted on her running into him! Of all the ponds in all the cities, why dd they wind up on the same one at the same time? He never stopped loving her. But when Shay walked out of his life, he mourned then moved on. He never knew why she left, and after a while it didn't matter. He just knew he would never love again. Shay was appalled at her bad luck. She knew she was taking a chance by coming back to town, but it was a big town, right? She thought she would never see Adrian the entire time she had to be here. Wrong!!! Seeing him again brought back all the old feelings, and all the old memories with it. But she had learned to live with those memories. It was her decision to leave him and never let him know her secret. But her heart would never be the same. Now that they were forced to be together, could she still keep those secrets? If not, would it destroy the new feelings they were starting to share?
Second Chance is another 10+ star in the series. It follows the tradition of flowing right from the previous book. The series reads like one continuous story, but each book can be read as a stand alone as the main focus of each is a different couple. However, I HIGHLY recommend reading them in order to get the most out of the experience! : )
Adrian & Shay were married when they were young, but then a tragedy ripped them apart. This is their story after literally bumping into one another again. And then they're forced to work together... This story is different in that it explores some much darker feelings. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it's awesome. Their story has the same sweetness, steam & romance as the earlier books, but also made me cry more! And we get the bonus of TWO extra couples as supporting characters who will have their own stories. Which, for me, is awesomesauce! : )
AnnaLisa's books get better each time. I preordered this one but waited until I was stuck in a car for a 2 day drive to Disney World with my five year old. Because of this book, Louisiana and MIssissippi never looked so good. This is a story of a love lost and found later. The story flowed beautifully. Adrian and Shay were high school sweethearts who married before running off to college. That summer there is an accident, Adrian is hurt and Shay over hears the Wellingtons say terrible things. She thinks he is better off without him and she has her own broken heart to take care of.
They end up working on a project togther after the slapping incident at the end of book 2. Shay is an architect and Adrian owns Welington Construction. Through the project they work through their past and build a future together.
It was a beautiful story and I would recommend it to everyone.
I just finished reading second chance and I loved it the story kept me gripped , I didnt want to put it down. I loved the chatacters, the attraction between Adrian and Shay is really good. The story flowed really easily and enjoyed every minute of it. This story is about the Wellington family. Adrian and shay were highschool sweethearts after an accident which left Adrian with a bad leg. Shay ran, she served Adrian with divorce papers while hes was still in hospital. After seventeen years of being away Shay is back, her friend convinces her to go skating at the local pond where she bumps into Adrian and the rest of the wellington family. Adrian wants to work things out with Shay but Shay has secrets and is to scared to share, will she run again or will they get there happily ever after?
Annalisa Nicole's Series just keeps getting better and better as the stories progress... Each book has been Heartwarming and tells an emotional tale. I really enjoyed reading Second Chance and it is my favorite in the Series so far.. This is only the 3rd book Annalisa has written and I can see how she it just getting more amazing with her writing..
This is a great story about how sometimes our first love will be our only love. Also how in life we must not run from our problems but face them because sometimes the way we see things is not how they really are..
Second Chance Really melted my heart and I can't wait to read the next book A Fighting Chance.. There are not only happy tears to be shed with this book but sad one too. Keep the Kleenex close at hand..
4 1/5 PERFECTLY SWEET STARS!! This book was a quick fun read that I couldn't put down! It was funny, sweet, romantic, and just the right amount of drama to keep me intrigued. The writing was well done and flowed perfectly. I liked seeing all the old characters I fell in love with from the first two books in this one. Adrian is hot, hardworking, and an all around good guy. Shay drove me a little crazy sometimes but she won me over in the end. This is definitely a book I would recommend!
This was Adrian and Shay's story and as always Annalisa does not disappoint. Such a wonderful story of loss and hope. Ms. Nicole has yet again given us wonderful characters we can get behind and an even better story. What I especially like about her writing is that she always manages to make one of the secondary characters a mystery. This mystery might not even be known to us at the time of the story and is often not revealed until the next. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and this wonderful indie author is one you should clearly take a chance on. denise bailey
Perhaps this should have been called Running Away from Love?
That's all Shay seems to do. She's quite the coward. Adrian has the patience of a saint.
A lot happens in this one besides watching Shay and Adrian get back together... there are some deaths, some births and adoptions, an injury, a break up, and a wedding. Whew. I need a nap.
I love this series. I love the Wellington family and everything they do to make this such a well loved family to read. I just love everything about this series and can't wait to read more about them.
