Mike Jameson's world came crashing down around him and he has refused to let anyone else in since. Running through the daily motions of life he keeps himself busy, whether it was being the drummer for The Nation's Capital, working on vehicles, or being a paramedic. His one goal in life has been to save lives, but he has no idea that it's his life that needs saving. Sheridan Nichols makes an unexpected appearance in Brown County on her way out of the nightmare she was living. One fateful night, she is hit by a drunk driver and left injured and stuck in a strange town now without a car. Mike steps up to the plate and volunteers to let her stay at his house, and in the process, volunteers his heart as well. Friendships form and chemistry ignites and after one passionate night Mike thought things between the two of them were about to change. But Sheridan hides a secret, one which is ultimately a game-changer. When her past catches up with her, will she have to rely on herself or will explanations and apologies be enough to salvage things? In the end, will they discover that by being together they save each other's life?
Amber Nation currently resides in Southern Indiana with her husband and two daughters. Amber writes Contemporary Romance, Romantic Suspense, and Romance Comedy novels. She loves hoarding paperback books, shopping, concerts, road trips, and watching her daughters sport it up on the basketball court or in gymnastics.
Her personal motto is to always believe in yourself and above all else, be you!
This is the story about 2 people with very sad pasts. They come together pretty much accidentally and learn what love is really about. Sheridan is on the run from an abusive relationship. When she enters Brown County just to drive through it, she is rear ended by a drunk driver and ends up in the hospital with a broken foot and bruised ribs. Mike is the paramedical who gets her to the hospital. And to him, there is just something about her. Feeling a connection, when Sheridan leaves the hospital, Mike offers her a place to stay. There is an instant attraction that they both feel but keep pushing it off. Mike never wants to be with someone after losing his daughter and divorcing his ex. What starts off as an attraction moves to a friendship. They become best friends. Until Mike learns some secrets Sheridan is keeping. That for him, it ruins everything. But they just can’t stay away from each other. They love each other so much. And they need to put aside the past in order to do that. I liked this book but not as much as the other Brown County books and at times I felt it was predictable.. There was 1 thing that happened that I didn’t expect at all. It threw me as much as it threw Mike. But overall it was a good book.
How to Save a Life..... Hmmm where to begin? Lets start with Mike....a loner paramedic by day, and a somewhat social drummer for the Nation's Capitol by night...and sometimes a mechanic....still no one really knows the heartache and turmoil that he endures on a daily basis from his past. Enter Sheridan....the mysterious accident patient that falls into Mikes lap one day. Sheridan has her own demons from her past that she is trying to run from. Now Mike and Sheridan seem to be unable to stay away frok eachother like there's a magnetic pull between them...only they both try their hardest to fight that undeniable pull. Mike and Sheridan make quite the messed up emotional wreck of a pair don't they? Honestly though they have both been searching for something to help relieve the pain from the past...are they that relief for one another or will they crash and burn together like their pasts all over again? How to Save a Life is a story of love, loss, TRUST, love, and loss again and then just maybe a happily ever after, but read it to find out for yourself! This book is part of the amazing Brown County, but can be read as a standalone. Amber Nation's best yet!!!!!
In the third volume of the Brown County Series, Amber Nation gives us Mike and Sheridan's story. This book can be read as a stand alone (yes, it's written that well!), although you'l understand more of the back story of the characters if you read them in order. This story also references the previous book, as the timelines of the stories were interrelated. Everything with the plot matches and is consistent.
The writing in this book is easy to read, and the story draws you in immediately. No spoilers - let's just say life is complicated, and everyone has a back story! The plot includes twists that are unexpected and a HEA ending that will leave you smiling. I had sympathy for Sheridan and was initially frustrated with Mike, but my feelings about Mike quickly changed. Mike quickly made my list of book boyfriends. :)
I highly recommend this whole series - so far, this book was my favorite! Perfect beach read and a definite go-to book to read if you want a HEA!
This was my favourite book out of the entire series. I sat and read it all in under two hours, I couldn’t put it down. Mike and Sheridan were a fantastic couple, each haunted by their pasts so afraid to find a future together but Nation wrote it beautifully. This novel differed from the other two novels as we didn’t see as much of the background characters, but we did see a bit more of Brock who i adore, and I’m thinking that’s what made it incredible.
These book all tend to have that small touch of suspense that I loved in them and keeps you on the edge just waiting for something to happen. I loved these two together through thick and thin. Their chemistry is off the charts! Loved it
I'll admit I was excited to read this book because of the title lol it's one of my favorite songs!!! The book did not disappoint, I was drawn in immediately to the story. There were quite a few triggers for me but they were handled in a very loving, delicate way.
this series just keeps getting better and better! triggers-rape, death, abuse and depression to name a few, but dealt with in an amazing way. so excited for next book
I have always been a fan of Amber Nation’s Brown County series. All of the characters have been wonderful to get to know and read about. I will say this one though, captured my attention and heart and had me invested very early in the book. As with all of her books, you start out with broken people who are struggling to find a place to call home, someone to care about them and follow dreams they might not even know they have.
When Mike is working at the shop, waiting for the call that will tell him if his mother is seriously ill, his world shatters when the phone rings but it isn’t about his mom, it is about his little Princess. The news will devastate him and cause him to give up on everything in life. Anger and regret, guilt over not doing more will suck the last drop of energy from his soul and he will stay in his own vessel of grief till the next loss comes. From that moment he moves from his home town and relocates to Brown County and dedicates his life to becoming a paramedic. Later in the story we will understand why he does this, what 12 minutes means to him. To keep busy he also plays in a band and works as a part time mechanic. He has a few friends but he prefers to be isolated and never giving his heart to anyone else, but then he goes on a call and rescues Sheridan. No matter how many times he tells himself he will never love another woman, there is something about Sheridan that has his heart acting before his brain can catch up.
Sheridan is on the run from an abusive boyfriend. Having her dreams traded in for what she thought was love; she finds her life has become a nightmare instead. We find out as the story goes on just what she has lost in her life do to Pate the boyfriend and what she is still hiding from everyone, including Mike. When she struggles to understand why the paramedic that helped her after she was involved in a car accident, keeps coming to check on her in the hospital, it takes her breathe away when he offers her a place to stay. Even with a broken foot, bruised ribs and night after night of horrifying nightmares she has decided she will repay Mike for his kindness but not relent to her strong desire to be with him.
With attraction coming from both of them, they fight the urge to give in and we have a different kind of sparks flying, which I loved watching. Both of them broke my heart and resurrected my belief in mankind and the ability to start again after you have lost the most important things and people to you. Sheridan is without a doubt my favorite character so far when it comes to not playing the victim and focusing on being a survivor. She knows what she wants, she has no clue how to get it but she took the first step she knew needed to be done and then started making things happen.
The ending is powerful and intense but it isn’t a cliff hanger. We were reconnected with the characters from previous books, which if you follow my reviews you know is a huge plus for me as a reader. I can only add that with this book, I had a sense of being part of the community more than I have had with the other two books. I have always said I would love to live in this community and this story of Mike and Sheridan just made me envious of it even more. Brown County has become this mystical place that soothes the broken hearted, friends the lonely and grants acceptance and grace to even the most tortured souls. Who wouldn’t want to live there?
I just finished How to Save a Life and I loved it! This is apart of the Brown County Series so I would seriously recommend reading them in order to get the full effect of the characters since at times it overlaps together but they could be read by themselves. First is Not Alone with Emmalynne and Grady. 2nd is Runaway Love with Maggie and Charlie and now this one is Mike and Sheridan. They are all acquaintances/friends living in Brown County and also play in a local band. Mike has had his share of heartbreak. At the beginning of the story you find out what really happened and now it makes sense as to why he is so stand offish. Sheridan is running away from a very bad man and ends up in Brown County because she is hit by a drunk driver and Mike is the paramedic on the scene. They immediately feel something for one another but they try very hard to not acknowledge it but Mike wants to help her so he offers her to stay at his house while she recuperates. Close proximities always make the best stories for lovers. They both have secrets and they will come to light but will they be able to let their guards down to see what can happen between them? You will have to read and see.
I must say that I didn't know it could get any better. This has to be my favorite in the series not just because Im a sucker for someone on the run but for me Amber just put me inside the story. I usually don't do that, I can read and read and read but damn, first time in a while where I felt like I was apart of the group. This was a good take on a story when there is abuse involved. I just felt Amber spins it into something original and I will be so ever thankful for that since I feel at times, I read the same old thing.
Mike, lord have mercy, he was a hottie. Not only is he the a paramedic(can totally see him in his outfit)he is the drummer for their local band (can totally see him banging the crap out of those drums) but he is also the quiet yet tortured soul. I really felt bad for him. The things that he experiences, so sad. And Sheridan too. They should never have to live with what they did. I felt like Amber choose two characters that could only heal each other because of what they went through. Brava! One thing that I will say is even though they healed each other, the chemistry was on fire. Their banter, the sexual angst between them was hot. The build up was one of the hottest that I have read. Damn, when you read when they finally acknowledge it, be prepared. Be very prepared to fan the ever living crap out of yourself. F I R E!!!!
One thing I love about series is the comradery between the characters. When you stick with the series, sometimes authors change them and you hardly recognize them. Not Amber. She was spot on with the characters, also with the secondary characters. Same old people, same story line between them. Amazing! I just loved that we were able to see what happens from all sorts of perspectives views that I truly felt like I knew the ins and outs of this whole town!
Seriously, Im hooked. Amber is an author to be reckoned with. She is amazing and I cannot wait to see more.
I LOVE The Brown County Series!!! Every books love story is COMPLETELY different so it continues to grab your attention and not let go. And even though you can read each book as a standalone, I definitely think you should read them all in order. There is so much back story that you don't get otherwise, and it is just TOO good to miss! Mike and Sheridan's story for me was more heartbreaking and healing than the first two, but just as beautiful!
"I changed my entire life, because of that one phone call that could've been prevented if I had chosen to do things differently."
Mike Jameson thought he had everything. Until one phone call changed his entire life, and he has refused to let anyone get close to him since then. That was 4 years ago. He picked up and moved to Brown County where he meet some great people, but most importantly found his calling as a paramedic. He loves saving people, playing occasionally in The Nation's Capital as the drummer, and also working on cars with Brock when he has time. What he didn't realize is that he needed someone to save him, and he never expected to meet her while working as a paramedic.
"I guess I was stuck, going home with Mike. What's the worst that could happen, it wasn't like I would fall for the guy…"
Sheridan Nichols is running from her past. But she doesn't make it far before she is hit by a drunk driver in Brown County. Now she is stranded here with a totaled car and severely injured. Mike is the biggest surprise of them all. He was the paramedic who brought here in, but he has continued to visit. And now he is offering for her to stay at his house while she heals.
"P.S. I'm sorry for being an asshole last night. Please stay…"
Mike has no idea what is going on his head. He knows he could never let another woman into his heart, but he is having a hard time denying his attraction to Sheridan. Trying to deny his attraction is making him a jerk. (I wanted to smack him!) He doesn't mean to be hateful, but it just keeps happening. He has to figure it out quick, because he doesn't want her to leave.
"Tonight was a turning point in this dance between us. I could feel it deep down to the depths of my soul."
Making a life in Brown County was easy for Sheridan. She loved the small town and along the way Mike and Sheridan have become great friends. But one passionate night changes everything. Sheridan is hiding a secret, and knows that it will ruin everything her and Mike have together. Can they both realize that by being together they are saving each other… before it is too late?
Sheridan and Mike's story isn't full of drama like the others in this series, but their relationship will keep you on the edge of your seat. The chemistry between the two of them is INTENSE! I loved Sheridan's smart mouth! We also still get some of the Brown County characters we have grown to LOVE, which made it that much better! If you haven't checked out the Brown County series yet, you are missing out!
1/31/22 EDIT: Yah…sorry to say but I no longer love this book. Im actually surprised at how different I feel after the second time reading it. As I mentioned in my first review, the H is a jerk to say the least. I actually didn’t like him this time around. IMO there was no reason for him to treat the h the way he did. He kept saying mean and hurtful things to her and she kept taking him back with very little, if any, groveling. I understand what happened to him was sad but it takes him till the end of the book to really accept it and move on.
LOVED THIS BOOK!! It made me feel every feeling out there. Anger, Sadness, Confusion, Happy, it doesn’t matter cause you will definitely feel something. In the 2nd book “Runaway Love” Sheridan Nichols ends up getting hit by a drunk driver while driving through town and Mike is the EMT on the scene. There is an insta attraction between the two and through-out the 2nd book you get glimpses of what’s going on between them. Now onto this book. The prologue (in Mikes POV) takes place 4 years (I think) from the first chapter. You get an understanding what happened to him but without all the details. Just have to say, this author definitely knows how to write an awesome prologue. Hooks me in, every time. Anyway, I love how this story takes place the day of the accident. Mike goes to visit Sheridan in the Hospital and the story begins. The relationship between them goes back and forth through-out the whole book with Mike trying to move on from his past and Sheridan trying to out run hers. The secrets they both have is heartbreaking and you just want to give them both a great big hug and to tell them it will be ok. But the way Mike treats Sheridan at first really pissed me off. He seriously was an ass and he knew it. I can’t stand when characters are not nice and than in their heads they admit to not being nice. It’s like WTF. But with all honestly, if he acted differently I think the story would have felt like it was missing something. So I guess we do need are Hero’s to be ass’s sometimes but I will say the love between the two characters is heart warming and touch’s all the right spots. And I cant forget about the side characters. LOVE THEM. They are only mentioned a little bit in this book but I just want them all to be happy and in love, which most of them are. I still cant wait for Toby’s story, which is next. At first I was hoping it would be Gio who gave Toby his HEA but now I’m thinking Ethan would be a better match for him. Either way Toby deserves some happiness in his life and I’m sure Amber Nation has written him some, if not a lot in “Unconditionally” which is Book 04 in this series. All-in-all, if your looking for a book that will give you all the FEELS than this book is for you. Happy Reading🤓
Will post my review on release day as well. Just know that is was amazing and Amber gets better and better and better and better and I love her! <3
Revised ---- added 6.5.14 How to Save a Life --- The story of Mike and Sheridan. This could be read as a stand alone , but I highly recommend reading them in order so you get the back story on everyone! Mike and Sheridan - Both needing to save each other. Brought together by Fate…. This was another beautiful story about love, loss, trust and a hoping to find a HEA. Everyone has a past that they don’t necessarily want to share. These two are a mess…. A beautiful mess together once they get past everything that haunts them. Once they quit fighting the feelings they have for one another. The sexual chemistry is there. Sheridan and Mike both have secrets that they are not willing to share and when those secrets are revealed – watch out! The little twists and turns that Amber throws our way, keeps us on our toes. You will root for these two through the entire book. You will go through several emotions with them. Hoping they will realize that things happen for a reason and they were each brought into one another’s life for a purpose. We will see a glimpse of our fave characters from the previous stories in this series. They all seem to connect to each other in one way or the other. Amber has a way of pulling you in and making you feel like you are the characters… or at least you are there with them. I am proud of Amber for her ability to grow as an author with each book she has written in this series. She keeps getting better and better. This one, by far, blew me away. I could see that she is now taking some risks and often maybe stepping outside what is comfortable to bring us some HOT AS HELL sex and just another AMAZING story! A story about loss… heart ache….and learning to “save a life”…and the possibility of a Happily Ever After… bravo Amber! 5 stars Thank you Amber for allowing me to be a part of each book. For trusting me to be a part of your Beta team. You continue to kick ass and I am proud of you. I look forward to what Amber Nation is cooking up for us next ;)
Amber Nation’s How to Save a Life is a heart wrenching tale of two people who have experienced the worst life has to offer and in this enduring story find that they make each other whole.
Mike moved to Brown County after a tragedy occurs that he can no longer live in his hometown. So he moves to Brown County to start over, or his version of starting over, not letting anyone in and working himself to death to forget what happened to him and his family.
Sheridan happens by Brown County by accident, literally. She was involved in a car accident that has now left her stranded in the small town. Sheridan is a beaten down woman who is struggling to break free of that mold that her ex boyfriend hammered into her. Seeing that she has no one, Mike offers his place to help her recover for reasons he's not even aware of except for a curiosity about her.
Over the next few months, Sheridan and Mike break down each others walls and learn to trust one another-except Sheridan is still harboring one secret that Mike never forgive her for. The story flows nicely, that a love story comes from friendship and learning to let go of past hurts and trauma. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and couldn;t put t down, and when had to, couldn’t wait to start reading once again. Amber Nation outdid herself with this book, you really feel what the characters go through once they realize they have feelings for one another. But at times I wanted to throw my kindle at how much of an idiot Mike was sometimes when he just jumped to conclusions instead of talking and finding out the real story.
Mike Jameson had a tragedy after tragedy happened to him, and due to those he became an emotional recluse. His life consist of work, a band he plays with occasionally and his beloved dog.
Sheridan Nichols is running away from the only life she knew, a life with an abusive partner and a secret that she's kept from him.
When Mike and Sheridan's lives collide, the attraction is instantaneous but they're both apprehensive to enter into a relationship. Sometimes though, you just can't avoid what life throws at you.
These two are an emotional mess, both dealing with their own demons, but at the same time giving each other the comfort and the affection that they so need.
I have to say that Mike's story broke my heart, I truly felt for the guy, and don't know how a person can survive what happened to him.
I love that Amber portrayed Sheridan as a strong character. Yes, she was a victim at one point in her life, but she put her big girl panties on and got out of the situation in order to live a better life. Most books have women as somewhat weak and dependent on the male character so it's refreshing to see a woman standing up for herself.
All and all this is a very enjoyable book with very likeable characters, even though Amber raise awareness on some serious issues, there are moment that would make you laugh.
4.5 Stars I believe this series just keeps getting better and better!
Sheridan has lots of secrets and a whole truck full of pain. From her first words the fear jumps off the page. Yet she’s a survivor, and was in no way ready for Mike.
Oh Mike, so heartbroken and angry. All understandable and expected, but I couldn’t help but want more for him-happiness with all of the bells and whistles. Loved his voice, such an incredibly complex character.
Love dual POV-seeing into both of their hearts and minds. Also made me want to shake them both, especially when Mike continues to jump to conclusions and hurt himself and Sheridan, and Sheridan continued to push him and her happiness away.
There are so many difficult topics-rape, death, abuse and depression to name a few. All treated with respect and a sense of honesty. The pain that surrounds them is real.
Together Mike and Sheridan are fantastic. So smart mouthed and honest, supportive and off the charts chemistry. A friendship that builds, takes detours yet ends up taking both of them exactly where they need to be-together.
Love this little town and all of its huge personalities. Looking forward to more from Brown County, Ga.
This is the third book in Amber Nation’s Brown County series. Even though these books can be read as stand-alones I recommend reading them all in order because the stories all go together in some ways. This one is now my absolute favorite out of the entire series. We have gotten peeks at Mike before. We know that he is a paramedic, the drummer for the band Nation’s Capitol, and he is also a part time mechanic, but we have not learned much about Mike’s real story until now. Sheridan is a newcomer to town. She was on her way through town when she was hit by a drunk driver and was injured. Mike was one of the paramedics who was on the scene that day and he helped save Sheridan. Now both of their lives are about to change forever.
I really enjoyed reading this story. I loved the characters in it and I also loved getting to see some of the characters from the previous books. There were several twists and turns in this book that I definitely was not expecting. I do not want to give away any spoilers about the story so I am just going to say that this is one you have got to read. I give this book 5 stars and I will be impatiently waiting for the next book from Amber Nation!!!!!!
How to Save a Life is a beautifully written story about love, losing love, tragedy, secrets and so much more. Amber truly must have poured everything into the book because of the way the storyline is written.
Mike James lives in his own little private world with being a paramedic during the date and a drummer for The Nations Capitol at night part time. Mike has seen his share of heartache, tragedy and turmoil and tries to deal with them daily to put the past behind him. (By the way you will love Mike) He has been though so much that you wonder how he is still such a great guy.
An accidental meeting (literally) brings Sheridan Nicols into the picture. Yes, Mike is the paramedic who takes care of Sheridan that she has suffered from at an accident but after the accident there is something that will just draw these two souls together. Not that Sheridan has not seen her share of turmoil and tradey herself she comes from an abusive past and is trying to overcome the hurdles that were brought into her life.
Mike and Sheridan have a pull towards each other, and that pull that b both endure may be the key for both of these two deeply soulful characters to move forward to a better life together.
And Amber Nation does it again! This beautifully written third installment of the Brown County series delivers every aspect we have come to expect from Amber ~ heartache, romance, intrigue, misunderstanding, falling in love and the absolutely necessary happily ever after.
I think what I love most about Amber's writing style is that she doesn't seem to be afraid to take chances. She writes about those topics no one wants to think about ~ death, abuse, trauma, deception. But with the way she writes it, its a reminder to all of us that by not thinking about doesn't mean it doesn't exist but there are survivors over and over again who have this amazing power within themselves to overcome.
Amber's books always make me cry. "How To Save A Life" was no different. Her words are so powerful, the story so touching, the emotions just pour out of you.
Of all the books in the series‚ so far How to Save a Life is my favorite.
Amber has once again succeeded in making an amazing balance between the romance‚ wittiness‚ dramatic angst and suspense and a bit more.
Mike and Sheridan´s story had me laughing out loud one minute and the next one crying like a baby. It really brings a set of emotions out of you. They were both a two broken souls whose paths crossed and since that moment their lives started to change. But it was not easy because they are still secrets that needed to come to the surface.
Amber´s writing style is sensual and easy to follow and has a perfect amount of edge in it to keep you glue to the story you are reading. Her characters have well-developed depth and are endearing. With each novel her writing is getting better. It´s more tightly woven and richer.
I simply loved everything about this novel and at the end I have to say just these two words: more please.
≧◔◡◔≦ 5 ✰ read ≧◉◡◉≦
>>>Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review<<<
Redemption. That is the true lesson in this book! The prologue was so difficult to read and had me in tears! Mike endures such a horrific loss and completely shuts everyone out. He moves far away from the town where the tragedy occurs. He swears off love and shuts himself off from everyone. He becomes a paramedic and one day rescues a girl who instantly captivates him. Sheridan is running. Running from an abusive relationship. Running to protect her family. She is in a wreck with a drunk driver and becomes stuck in a small town with no family or friends. She is rescued by Mike and he takes her in while she heals. Mike and Sheridan have a roller coaster friendship and open up to each other about their tragic pasts. There is so much chemistry between them but their fight their attraction. One night they finally give in. Mike is ready to commit but Sheridan still has a huge secret that just might make Mike run. I love this book. It was emotional at times with everything both mike and Sheridan go through. This is the first book I've read by Amber Nation but it will not be the last!
I really liked this book. I got attached to the characters right from the beginning. This is a love story plain and simple, showing how no matter how hard life is and no matter how broken your heart becomes, Love can conquer and mend it, if only you allow it. Mike is a dedicated father. He plays the role of both parents since his wife Erin is a manic depressive and refuses to take her medication properly, the result being a very hateful, lazy woman who doesn’t take a interest in her three year old daughter or her husband. Mike has to work, take care of everything for their daughter, and take care of everything in the house. But when tragedy strikes he vows to never let anyone close again. Sheridan is a beautiful but broken woman on the run from her dark and hurtful past, but fate decides to step in and bring them together. Can they let go of their hurtful past and let love in and become the family they are meant to be or is it just too hard.
Two broken souls that were dead for two different reason merge together for the HEA that sealed my heart even more for Brown County, Georgia. Mike and Sheridan was not your typical couple but being best friends to hide the feeling that are evident to everyone else did not work in their favor. Love, regret, protection, and closure had to come into play before the realization that they saved and needed each other was discovered.
I laughed and my heart broke in pieces then I left and visited St. Louis but the message was heard but not fully received until it was almost too late. Thank you Amber for another winner of bringing two different lives and making them one.
The title couldn't be more fitting!! I absolutely loved the story from start to finish. Mike and Sheridan have so many ups and downs between the two of them that my heart just seem to keep breaking for them. But the heart wants what the heart wants, right? No matter how hard they tried to fight their feelings for one another, there came a point where they couldn't fit them anymore. This story is about love, loss, and learning to heal. Amber did a fantastic job showing how someone CAN get back up after life knocks them down. This is a standalone, even though it is in a series. Great job Amber, I can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of the Brown County Series!
Brown County series this one is by far my favorite. It had me in tears through out the whole book. Mike is broken he lost his daughter to a tragic accident due to his awful wife that wasnt the mother she shoukd have been. He wanta to save lives since he coulsnt hpsave Hannahs and becmes a paramedic and stumbles onto Sheridan in a car accident and takes her in to help her on the mend. Even more broken than Mike she is hiding from an abusive powerful husband she loves Mike but he doesnt want kids and she hasa huge secret that would break his heart. Unavoidable events take place and this book had me on my toes! !!! What an amazing HEA.
Very good book. I enjoyed the chemistry between Mike and Sheridan. The bumps in the road of romance are definitely evident for Mike & Sheridan! Just enough suspense to keep you on edge. Again, as in the first book in this series, the small town feel is awesome. I like the hometown feel of the Diner and EmmaLynne's bar. I skipped the #2 book and now I need to read it! Each book is a stand alone, but I want to know everyone's stories! *** I was given this book as a gift in exchange for my honest review. ***

this will rip your heart out and put it back together. it is amazing well written and the story that is told makes you think that you are right along for the ride. don't pass this book up.
I loved it! Both Mike and Sheridan have tragic pasts but are still drawn together and can't help falling in love with easy other. I love that they end up not only saving each other, but themselves. It's a very heartfelt story and I can't wait to read more by Amber Nation!
