From New York Times bestselling author Lynn Kurland comes the enchanting tale of a holiday that goes completely sideways and love found in the most unlikely of places . . .
Oliver Phillips can’t think of a worse place for a holiday than Scotland, land of midges, rain, and Highlanders with swords. His freedom from his enforced seclusion hinges on three things: avoiding very sharp Claymores used by those Highlanders, completing a program of self-care perfectly curated to refresh and restore his ability to do serious damage to the friends who’ve sent him on his unwanted holiday, and, most importantly, avoiding any and all gates through time that might lead him to encountering any possible maidens in Renaissance distress who might be in need of a rescue.
But two out of three isn’t bad . . . right?
Mairead leads a Cinderella-like existence despite being the oldest daughter of the laird of the clan MacLeod. When she miraculously finds a book about a saucy kitchen maid and the Duke who adores her, she’s convinced she has the key to escaping her own terrible straits. Her problem? She only has the first half of the curiously written manuscript and she’s convinced the solution lies in the remainder of the missing tale.
And when a man who looks just like the gallant nobleman on its cover walks out of the magical forest near her home, she knows she’s found the one person who can show her how to have a different life entirely . . .
But sometimes the past and the future become intertwined in unpredictable ways and the best-laid plans, even on holiday in Scotland, can go awry, leaving two souls wondering just how far they’ll have to bend time to have their own happily ever after . . .
Lynn began her writing career at the tender age of five with a series of illustrated novellas entitled Clinton’s Troubles in which the compelling hero found himself in all sorts of . . . well, trouble. She was living in Hawaii at the time and the scope for her imagination (poisoned fish, tropical cliffs, large spiders) was great and poor Clinton bore the brunt of it. After returning to the mainland, her writing gave way to training in classical music and Clinton, who had been felled with arrows, eaten by fish and sent tumbling off cars, was put aside for operatic heroes in tights.
Somehow during high school, in between bouts of Verdi and Rossini, she managed to find time to submerge herself in equal parts Tolkien, Barbara Cartland and Mad Magazine. During college, a chance encounter with a large library stack of romances left her hooked, gave her the courage to put pen to paper herself, and finally satisfied that need for a little bit of fantasy with a whole lot of romance!
I am so excited when LK released her book. The moment I received it, straightly I download to my kindle and read it.
I was very happy to see familiar characters that have place in my heart especially MacLeod clans and their kids.
I usually devour her book in one day but frankly I took my sweet time to finish it. Its not that I dont like it.. I did like the book, but I was not in love with it.
I just feel its not her best compare to others Macleod series. This one... unfortunately, wasn’t for me.
Anyone who has read Lynn Kurland knows you are in for a wonderful read, but Every Day of My Life goes one better. The twist and turns and even a few gasps make this a book where you keep guessing what will the next page bring. We'll done, Ms Kurland! Looking forward to who comes next.
Perfect. It didn’t feel like a reunion fest. It had a great standalone story, but you were able to still see the characters and their children, which was lovely.
All the feelgoods; some family angst; some nasty characters; a poignant very long wait for nice long extended HEA. Lovely humor with familiar characters from previous books. Ahhhh... satisfying in the extreme.
This started out rather bland and slow, but I was surprised when it finally picked up and then got even more complicated with the time-traveling twists. I did find that towards the end it had a bit too much padding, but I enjoyed the relationship even when it got a bit sappy, as it was so cozy. So I'm giving this 4 stars. With this latest book she seems to have started getting out of the rut of mediocrity that her last handful of books have been stuck in. I hope she manages to climb fully out and start producing more of the stuff that I fell in love with long ago.
2 1/2 stars Ah, I usually really enjoy these books, but this one did not hold any appeal once I started it. Oliver was one dimensional, and really had nothing that made him stand out. Mairead was far more interesting but over all this was a story that was done before, in a better book. There were a lot of characters from previous books (and I mean a lot) and that was fine, but it did not make the book any more attractive. Oliver rescues Mairead from her drab life, brings her to modern times, where she is embraced by all. There should have been more.
Every Day of My Life was…cute. It had more lovey-dovey moments rather than the more action-packed stories I’m used to. I enjoyed the fact that many of the earlier books’ characters were present, which makes me want to re-read their stories. I just don’t see myself re-reading this book with the same enthusiasm. It wasn’t a bad book! It’s just didn’t have more of what I was expecting.
Is it possible to fall in love with a book, or a series of books? If so, I'm totally, utterly in love with this book and the others in this series!! I just love the characters, the plot, everything about it. The couple in this book is very compelling while being saucy at the same time. I love the chemistry between them! This story had me glued to my Kindle for hours on end. I read it in less than two days, that's how much it hooked me. Totally recommend it.
Oliver needs a holiday; his coworkers, friends, and “family “ tie him up and dump him in Scotland. He inadvertently ends up in 1600s Scotland when people were being accused of being witches. He meets Mairead during his travels. They both travel back and forth. He ultimately has to rescue her to save her life. Such a sweet love story. Some really unique twists in the plot. I continue to love Lynn Kurland’s books.
Oliver is a hero of the first water. Mairead his perfect match. Once again all your favorite people in Kurlands world grace the pages of a true romance. Immerse yourself in the highlands with all the highland magic and fall in love. I love this series and go back to it over and over
Glenn carlin is 1 of the best time travel authors I've ever read and I've read a lot I like most of them but I just love her stories I love happy ending it's great if you're looking for something to lift your spirits make you feel good Cry little read the book you'll love it
Time travel meets ghost story meets witch trials wrapped in a sickly sweet love story. Many favourite characters make cameo appearances throughout, including Jackson Kilchurn V who is on a hunt for his missing nephews. I suppose this book is a segue to the next books in the series that will undoubtedly feature Theo and Sam de Piaget.
I have read every one of the authors books but this one was a little hard to fellow. I had to put it down and think about all the different people that continued to show up through out the story line. I would go back and reread to make sure what time they were in. I was glad it ended well. Great author, supper imagination.
I usually LOVE Lynn Kirkland books, but this one just felt flat. Not to mention it was a bit of a confusing read, especially at the beginning. It picked up in the middle with some good twists, but the end was anticlimactic. I did like seeing the return of some of my favorite characters from earlier novels, though it did seem to emphasize how unoriginal Oliver was as a character.
Love Lynn Kurland, but this book was confusing. It started slowly and with no clear definition of why the hero was there and who was he anyway. The dialogue was repetitive, and tiresome. I usually I love Kurlands books, and read them several times, but I didn't even have any empathy with these characters.
Absolutely wonderful read. As always this author delivers a romantic story with charismatic characters. I’ve been reading her novels for years and I can they never fail to charm and delight me.
I love Lynn Kurland stories but this one? Disjointed. Very confusing start and long, drawn out ending. I appreciate that she incorporates familiar characters but I have to say that whoever edited this book did a poor job. Read her first books. Skip this one. A disappointment.
Lynn Kurland’s MacLeod & de Piaget series are and always will be a must read for me. I’ve loved her books since 1999 and think I always will. Her books are closed door and so sweet as to cause a tooth ache. She also does an excellent job of including cameos by many of her previous characters, that it feels like catching up with old friends. Truly, the way she weaves all of her books together is wonderful. It’s also amazing because most of them are time travel books and she manages to skillfully keep track of everything across multiple timelines, it’s incredible. This book is no exception. Oliver Phillips and Mairead MacLeod are a sweet couple that meet across time and though they fight it because of their circumstances they find true love. There are, of course, challenges along the way and there are scenes that break your heart but thankfully, we get an HEA. Each book in both series features a different couple and HEA.
