SHUT UP. I CANT.
This was so perfect. And I’m a sobbing mess and I have so much joy and I can’t believe it’s over and I want to restart the series because I love them and I never want to leave.
My heart is in pieces but is also whole and I wish there was a movie or tv show for it. Even just for this book. It deserves a wider audience.
Becka is an absolute master, this is the kind of writing I aspire for. I love you 😭😭🩷❤️🩹❤️🩹

I'd like to preface this review by saying, I wasn't really the biggest fan of the first four books of this series. I stuck around because I was waiting for this book. I was waiting for Emmet and Cara's story. Quite frankly I was waiting to get my heart absolutely shattered.
I'll admit that I'm not a fan of Becka Mack's writing. I think it's cringy and overdone most of the time. I hate the way that these supposed "grown adults" act, and I think being married to a manchild is not something that should be romanticized. Regardless, Breathe with me was my favorite installation of this series.
I know next to nothing about infertility issues, so I cannot comment on the accuracy of the events portrayed in this book. I trust that the author did her research because this is such an incredibly sensitive subject. With that, I'd like to say that the struggles in this book felt very real and the emotions were certainly running high.
what I liked:
✓insta lust/love (it was ridiculous and I actually didn't mind it)
✓Cara's character (I see so much of myself in her)
✓made me cry multiple times
✓Emmet and Cara's character arc
✓found family (truly unmatched, never read anything like it)
what I didn't like:
✗plot progression was kinda all over the place
✗every male character is a horndog, like calm down sir
✗Carter Beckett. Can I hear everyone say "biggest man child in the world" He seriously had wayyyyy too much page time. It was embarrassing to read about this "grown man" ain't no way he's the captain of an NHL team.
✗Cringe writing.
✗Why is literally every character pregnant the entire book? This is why I don't read epilogues, I don't care to see the couple as parents and this book seemed like one giant epilogue.
I have issues with this book, and this series as a whole, but I was able to actually enjoy this one which was a HUGE surprise. I really waited all these years and I think the wait was worth it.

ok yeah, I folded when Emmett made her contact name in his phone Mrs.Brodie during their first meeting because he knew he was going to marry her. WHAT GOD DO YOU NEED TO PRAY TO FOR THAT?!?!? is it so much to ask for when I say I want an obsessed man?!?!? 🤭😔 anyways, this was a heartbreaking book, however, I thought it was a little long...and with that, I finished the series.

Emmett and Cara were a fucking masterpiece. From their first meeting to them dating, to their marriage and all through their highs and lows. Their struggles were so devastating because yes even though you know whats coming, IT STILL FUCKING HURTS!! These are our babies who I know we all just want to see happy and in love and thriving, so it's gut wrenching when you have to watch your little angels fight so hard for their happiness. THEY DESERVE IT WITH NO ISSUES 😭
But seeing them fight through infertility, seeing them fight for themselves and each other, SEEING CARA BREAK AND REBUILD AND EMMETT STAND BY HER SIDE AND SUPPORT HER THE ENTIRE TIME??!! BECKA!! I actually cant-
THEIR FIRST MEETING??? Emmett had me MELTING!! And CARA?? Oh I love that queen. She is EVERYTHING and MORE. I love how Emmett was 100% about her and for her from the beginning and their entire relationship. Not once did that man let me down. He is the DREAM.
And ofc he was there is supporting and loving his queen, but seeing Cara have to her own self reflection/work and healing. Oh god- The tears are back!! She is such a strong fucking warrior goddess (ALL you infertility warriors are!!!)
Their story was heartbreaking, it was heart warming, it was heartfelt and it was absolute perfection.
ps Emmett is mine. I have had him claimed since wattpad and none of you are taking him from me ☺️

This was a great, bittersweet end to a series that I fell in love with last year and refer to as one of my favorites. Mack created such a beautiful found family of friends and relatives that have grown endlessly and shown up for each other in every possible circumstance. This book was no different.
Cara and Emmett
The star couple since the very first book who were already married, funny, goofy, and quirky, underwent so much stress, pain, and heartbreak while trying to conceive. Their relationship went through many challenges and struggles throughout the course of the novel. I commend Mack for writing Cara's character so shamelessly raw and real, even when it can be "ugly" to feel and think certain things. Emmett, to nobody's surprise, was completely lovable. He showed up for Cara in every way he could, showing his love and proving her her worth as much as he could and was able to. But the journey of infertility is not an easy one, and it wreaked havoc on their relationship as Cara's confidence began to dwindle. Watching her slowly lose herself was heartbreaking. We were introduced to Cara in the beginning of the series as spunky and fun and feisty, and she really, truly lost herself to the fight against infertility. But watching the family come together and show up for her, watching Emmett shower her with love and appreciation, was beautiful. Even in the moments where she admitted jealousy for her friends and animosity towards them for being pregnant together, etc, I thought it was written and handled really respectfully while still realistic and painful. I really love their relationship and dynamic. However, while the spice was good, it felt extremely overdone in this book, and I skipped probably half of the intimacy scenes.
When Cara and Emmett foster Abel, a boy from a broken home, things start to look up. I appreciated this route for both of them. Abel was such a beautiful boy and character and taught Cara and Emmett just how much love they still had in them to share. With this small plotline, I especially appreciated that Abel's birth mother, Catharine, relinquished her parental rights after being forced to birth because of her parents. Mack did not shy away from the conflicting and troublesome feelings and situation that many women and mothers find themselves in and it's important to normalize and discuss those situations. Emmett's love for Abel, and his being able to relate to such a bad upbringing and also learning more about Emmett's childhood life, was so wonderful.
The found family in this entire series is unmatched. I truly love all of them, and they all fit so well together. I find them all to be as ridiculous as they are endearing, and I can't believe that I'm saying goodbye to them for the last time.
Now, I did have a few issues with this book, and I can totally blame this on not being in a romance-y mood and then reading one of most probable cringe authors with the writing, but there were a few things that I may have ignored in the past about the writing that I couldn't ignore now.
First, I really hate when a character has a mouthful of food, and Mack actually writes out those unintelligble words (which happened SO much). It's ridiculous to read. I hate it. I hate reading baby talk written out, too. Reading grown men talk like literal babies because Mack thought it was necessary to have them speak that way was exhausting. For example: "Pwus, you took us thwew da Wendy's dwive-thwu". Seriously??? "I wish I got twee of dem" like these are literally grown ass men and women... I couldn't handle it in this book mostly because it seemed everyone was pregnant and constantly stuffing their faces.
Second, the plot was a mess. I knew we were following Cara and Emmett's journey through infertility, but the pacing was very clunky, and while all of her books in the series have been long and repetitive (by the last 40%, instances and internal monologues just repeat over and over again, and it was tiresome to read in this case), the plot in this one felt lost. There was a weird thing that happened with a character who talks to a tabloid to "out" their relationship issues, but that situation is NEVER brought up again. Nothing about Emmett's family is EVER discussed or brought up again. I also feel like these characters had no personalities in this book. We had a few flashback chapters in the beginning, which moved incredibly quickly, and then before maybe the first 30%, we were done with flashback chapters? In one chapter, it went all from 8 months ago, 7 months ago, 6 months ago, etc, and was all one liners from Cara "giving up" on trying to get pregnant. By the end, there are a few more gaps in time, which led to something I really didn't like: Cara magically getting pregnant by the end of the novel. I'm happy for her, sure, but after their intense struggle, I feel like a character whose fertility reserve or whatever that was genuinely so poor, and had SUCH a hard time even creating viable eggs and embryos, that it was completely unrealistic. And yes "miracle" babies happen all of the time but I really expected Mack to not follow the trajectory of the "miracle" baby plotline that so many infertility books fall victim too, because unfortunately it is NOT the case for everyone who struggles to get pregnant. This bothered me (not because I struggle with infertility or anything like that) but just because it felt like it undermined the entire character arc that Mack set Cara on. It also bothered me because we weren't even told that they were planning to undergo more of the fertility treatments again? As I mentioned, there was a time jump that fast forwarded two months after her being with the friends, and she's talking about how there wasn't an email from the clinic about the results. But there was NO leadup to tell us that they were trying again? So it quite literally came out of nowhere... and having seen them give up previously, I hadn't expected that at all, and it was kind of disappointing to just wedge in there. More disappointing it was rushed and paved over so quickly, when there was SO MUCH PAGE TIME dedicated to Carter getting an Oreo commercial. If you read the series you know Carter LOVEs oreos. When i tell you that he got more page time talking about his fucking oreos than Cara and Emmett talking about trying to conceive again (again it was just kinda thrown in there) I really mean it. Had we had more time to see them struggle to think about going down that road again, i think it would have been more impactful than what we got.
Third, every character was focused on sex, dicks, and cum, 24/7. I genuinely do not feel like the girls especially talked about anything aside from being dicked down by their men, being horny for their men, or their men being alpha and the women being like "I dont need another kid!" There was a chapter where for Cara and Emmett they had to abstain from ejaculation and the rest of the crew was participating in solidarity... and they ALL freaked out about not having sex for 5 days. They were always super high on testosterone throughout the series (and it is obviously an intentionally spicy series i know!!!) but in this book they were sex-crazed maniacs and that was literally all they ever talked about... Because of their horniess too, I feel like with Emmett is was severely overdone. He was talking about how he was going to fuck Cara, IN DETAIL, in front of their nurse... like sir can you wait?? I know you're a big horndog but like in a doctor's office while your wife is undergoing infertility treatments, in front of a nurse? It was seriously over the top.
This is probably my least favorite book of the series, just because so much of it felt rushed and not fleshed out properly, the plot feeling messy, and their characters just kind of being overall annoying after a certain point. I know this series is not everybody's cup of tea because Mack's writing can really be over the top ridiculous and crazy and I was always okay with it, until this book lol. It was still a good conclusion to a great series.

Let me preface this review with the important thing: the pain that comes with infertility, pregnancy loss, and the hatred of one's own body while fighting through those things is so real. And my heart breaks for anyone who has experienced any of that on some level, including myself.
Having said that, this book was horrible. I can't take you seriously when you are intermingling the very real, very painful topic of infertility with grown ass adults talking with their mouth full like they are children, spending a third of the book talking about oreos, and even though this is smutty romance, naming a man's junk "the pu$$y pounder 5000"
Can Carter please just GO THE F AWAY and never come back?

really REALLY wanted to like this, especially because cara and emmett have been my favourites throughout the series. but left feeling kinda let down??
first we start with a bit of back story, which i love. we know from the other books they had this whole ‘insta-love’ thing, and that’s fine! not my favourite but it wasn’t the worst. but by about 30% the flashbacks are done. this would be more acceptable if it didn’t bring me into my second issue…..
…..there are so many paragraphs of pointless or repeated conversations. there’s only so many times you can read how much carter loves oreo’s (we know!), or worse about how these grown adults - most of them with children - are constantly talking with their mouth full. i do not understand this writing style one bit. it’s completely childish and for lack of a better word, cringe. is there seriously nothing more meaningful to put in these chapters? complete waste of reading time.
further on the above point. from memory (i finished this twenty minutes ago) olivia and cara are the only two female characters that have a meaningful conversation that isn’t about sex. don’t get me wrong, the smut is part of the reason everyone reads these books. but that was completely exhausting. if these characters were not acting childish (will be my next point) they were just talking about sex. isn’t the found family an entire reason everyone loves these books? just felt completely lacking in that regard, there were maybe 3 meaningful conversations outside of cara and emmetts this entire book. the others were more or less repeated conversations (above point again).

first we start with a bit of back story, which i love. we know from the other books they had this whole ‘insta-love’ thing, and that’s fine! not my favourite but it wasn’t the worst. but by about 30% the flashbacks are done. this would be more acceptable if it didn’t bring me into my second issue…..
…..there are so many paragraphs of pointless or repeated conversations. there’s only so many times you can read how much carter loves oreo’s (we know!), or worse about how these grown adults - most of them with children - are constantly talking with their mouth full. i do not understand this writing style one bit. it’s completely childish and for lack of a better word, cringe. is there seriously nothing more meaningful to put in these chapters? complete waste of reading time.
further on the above point. from memory (i finished this twenty minutes ago) olivia and cara are the only two female characters that have a meaningful conversation that isn’t about sex. don’t get me wrong, the smut is part of the reason everyone reads these books. but that was completely exhausting. if these characters were not acting childish (will be my next point) they were just talking about sex. isn’t the found family an entire reason everyone loves these books? just felt completely lacking in that regard, there were maybe 3 meaningful conversations outside of cara and emmetts this entire book. the others were more or less repeated conversations (above point again).

I cried more times than they screwed in this book and that's saying something because they went at it a lot...
On a serious note, this book was so devastatingly beautiful and heart wrenching. I've never cried so much while reading a romance and let me tell you, I loved every minute that flew by. The ups and downs that Emmet and Cara went through were so realistic, from their whirlwind romance to their fertility struggle, everything was so refreshingly honest and tender. The two were always supporting each other, even when they couldn't hold their own heads up and it was so sweet how you could just feel how much of a team they were. Their steady love for each other was one of the most beautiful things I've ever read, and I don't think I'll be able to stop thinking about this romance for years to come.

it has been 11 days since i finished this book (it finished me, lbr) and i still find it so hard to find the words of just how much i loved it… how much it devastated me and then put me back together again over and over. becka poured her heart and soul out on every single page and it shows in such a hauntingly beautiful way.
cara and emmett have been a massive obsession of mine since meeting them in book one, i had been waiting so impatiently for this book for almost exactly 3 years and they were every bit worth the wait 😭

I have no words. Literal perfection. My first 6✨ read of the year.
I’m gonna do my best not to make this book review about me but it’s like Becka Mack saw the last 6 years of my life and wrote a book for me. The love, the hope, the pain, the jealousy, the healing. I could relate to everything. Cara and Emmett have always been a fan favorite in the other books, but they are just so special. I want to wrap these two in a hug forever. I thought the found family trope in the other books hit, but the way they come together in this one, there’s nothing like it. This may be one painful book, but I promise it’s worth it all in the end. I don’t know how many times I was crying from sadness to laughter to happiness. I’m going to miss this crew so much 🖤

I was so happy to finally get Cara and Emmett’s story! it was equal parts beautiful and heartbreaking, and I’m honestly so sad this is the last book because I LOVE this friend group so much🥹💞
I did skip some of the spicy scenes since they were a bit too graphic and frequent for my taste, and some of the guys’ antics felt a little over the top—but overall, I really enjoyed it. here’s hoping for a second-generation series 🤞🏼

I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much reading a book. I also don’t think I’ve ever felt as seen as I did while reading this book.
Emett and Cara were already my faves of this series, but getting their story broke me and put me back together in ways I don’t think I even knew I needed.
They really are everything, and this book wrecked me.

Cara and Emmett… I don’t even have words for how much I love them as a couple. This topic, infertility struggles is a hard one to write and an even harder one to read as someone who has been in Cara’s shoes. And the way Becka brings Emmett along this journey too… oh my heart.
This book still has the fun, it still has the found family vibes that we love about this series, but this one has so much angst, strength and perseverance.
Cara Brodie is my absolute hero. This story was hers in such a profound way, and ir was everything I needed and more. Her struggle was real and hard and beautiful in a visceral way. I cried, and when I say I cried, I mean I sobbed my entire eyeballs out.
Some of this story was physically hard for me to keep turning the pages, but for every single one I flipped, something in ky soul was seen and a bit of it was healed. Thank you Becka for making me and so many like me feel seen.
I needed every tissue the world had but this was absolutely beautiful.

What an ending to a series. Becka Mack truly wrapped this one up in the most gutwrenching way.
I can’t even tell you how many times I cried while reading Breathe With Me. I have friends who have struggled with infertility, and I never fully understood the emotional and mental toll it can take until reading Cara and Emmitt’s story. Watching them navigate that pain was absolutely heartbreaking.
The love between them and the love their found family had for them was so powerful and deeply moving. Becka Mack handled such a sensitive topic with care and honesty, and I’m so grateful for her vulnerability in writing it.
I would highly recommend checking content warnings before starting, but know that it does end with an HEA. You’ll definitely go through it for the first 70% or so, but the payoff is so worth it. An emotional, beautiful, and unforgettable read.

I’ve never read anything like this before, and it’s hard to know where to begin.
After a full reread I can confidently say this is one of my very favorite series of all time, incredible from start to finish.
I definitely wouldn’t suggest reading this as a standalone… the way Becka writes found family, you need it all - the build up to this final chapter.
We’ve gotten so many bits and pieces of Cara & Emmett’s story along the way, and I loved re-reading the previous books before this one.
Having a dual timeline was completely necessary & perfect to see all the details of their love story. It also provided a lot of balance to so much of the heaviness in the present.
Becka outdid herself with this one, taking an incredibly heavy topic, diving very deeply into it, but also making sure we got so much laughter along with our tears.
And the spice 😮💨 Cara & Emmett are so hot for each other from day 1, and that continues throughout their story.

I can’t just talk about the romance in this one, because the LOVE between this entire group is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read.

Avery Caris was such a perfect Cara, capturing all the emotions she went through in the story, and all the sides to who she is.

Ce livre m’a absolument démolie… mais dans la meilleure manière possible. Mon cœur a été brisé en mille morceaux en remit ensemble à plusieurs reprises tout en me faisant ressentir toutes sortes d’émotions.
Je n’ai jamais lu ni vécu rien de similaire à ce que Cara et Emmett ont vécu comme aventure et challenge, mais au fil des chapitres et des peines de cœur j’ai vraiment eu l’impression de vivre tout cela avec eux. On sent que cette histoire est vraiment plus personnelle pour Becka Mack et je crois que c’est ce qui la rend encore plus bouleversante. Tout dans ce livre est écrit et traité avec une immense délicatesse. Ce tôme m’a fait pleurer (beaucoup), sourire, rire, j'ai été vraiment pissed à plusieurs reprises aussi et tellement plus encore. J’ai adoré voir Cara et Emmett se rencontrer pour la première fois (honnêtement je n’aurais pas pu imaginer leur 'meet cute' de n'importe quelle autre manière lol) et les voir grandir ensemble tout en traversant la pire des épreuves était à la fois déchirant et inspirant.

Breathe With Me is a beautifully heartbreaking story that so many of us feel more than we want to express. It’s written with such tenderness and love and I already know it will stay with me for a very long time. It’s vulnerable, it’s raw, it’s honest, and it’s healing.

In Consider Me I fell in love with these characters and their friendship and this final book is the pinnacle of their support and love for each other. There’s moments of laughter and freedom but also quiet support, loud celebration and everything in between.
I never wanted this series to end but since it had to, i wouldn’t want it any other way. It was perfect.
I recommend this series often and I will continue to because wow, nothing else compares.

and that’s a wrap on one of the best sports romance series–truly, i remember, three years ago when i first read consider me, i had this giddy feeling and i knew right there that i would love this series with my whole heart. i have seen a lot of discourse about it and about its writing, how it’s too much and vulgar, how characters are too clingy and acting childish. i totally agree that language used is not for everyone and i understand why some may not like it, but to me, the way they acted added this huge joy to the story. all of the characters are the greenest flags. you may love one more than the other but you cannot tell me that either one of them is bad. they are very open group of friends, in the sense of talking openly about their feelings and all that they go through.
breathe with me brought me so much joy and happiness, but heartbreak too. i knew that emmett’s and cara’s story would destroy me. if you have not read previous books, these two are together from the first book, you start to love them way before and it’s hinted throughout books that they have fertility issues. their book focuses on their journey through all of the issues and hardships but also we get glimpses of them the night they met and all that comes next. their love was very instant and fast, which i usually do not like, but with them i didn’t mind. emmett did his big one with ”it’s tomorrow.”–i was preach thatt! anyway, i love this series and this set of the most diabolical characters ever with everything in me. go read it and try for yourself–it’s worth it.

and that’s a wrap on one of the best sports romance series–truly, i remember, three years ago when i first read consider me, i had this giddy feeling and i knew right there that i would love this series with my whole heart. i have seen a lot of discourse about it and about its writing, how it’s too much and vulgar, how characters are too clingy and acting childish. i totally agree that language used is not for everyone and i understand why some may not like it, but to me, the way they acted added this huge joy to the story. all of the characters are the greenest flags. you may love one more than the other but you cannot tell me that either one of them is bad. they are very open group of friends, in the sense of talking openly about their feelings and all that they go through.
breathe with me brought me so much joy and happiness, but heartbreak too. i knew that emmett’s and cara’s story would destroy me. if you have not read previous books, these two are together from the first book, you start to love them way before and it’s hinted throughout books that they have fertility issues. their book focuses on their journey through all of the issues and hardships but also we get glimpses of them the night they met and all that comes next. their love was very instant and fast, which i usually do not like, but with them i didn’t mind. emmett did his big one with ”it’s tomorrow.”–i was preach thatt! anyway, i love this series and this set of the most diabolical characters ever with everything in me. go read it and try for yourself–it’s worth it.

a dor da Cara, senti que foi mesmo um espelho a todas as mulheres que lutam contra a infertilidade e as dificuldades em engravidar
o Emmet, nem consigo expressar, a maneira como ele a ama incondicionalmente, mesmo de lágrimas nos olhos nunca desiste dele, dela e da relação dos dois

espero mesmo que a becka nos traga um second generation, até porque como este livro acabou, é mesmo uma necessidade
