IT'S SUMMERWEEN! is a cute and clever book that brings Halloween creatures into the summertime. The book counts up from one to ten as witches, mummies, and ghosts are enjoying summer holidays.

What I loved: This is such a fun and adorable read. The story features counting fun with counting up from one to ten, perfect for young toddlers who are beginning their number journey. The text is rhyming, which sounds great when read aloud and will really appeal to little ones. The font is large, clear, and easy to read with contrasting colors that stand out against each background.

The illustrations are fantastic - full of bright colors, summer themes, and lots of detail. Children will love exploring each page visually to see all the great summer details and colors. The Halloween creatures in each scene bring some silly laughs and charm to the book that celebrates summer for kids who love Halloween!

Final verdict: Rhyming and counting fun, IT'S SUMMERWEEN! is a charming and delightful board book that is sure to enchant Halloween-loving toddlers.

Please note that I received an ARC. All opinions are my own.

A fun counting book to teach babies about Summerween! Filled with delightful, colorful illustrations, this book goes over counting concepts from 1 to 10, and also teaches readers about different monsters and creatures related to Halloween, including witches and mummies. It’s Summerween is told in rhyme, with each number describing a different Summerween-related item told in rhyming couplet (ex. “Six sporty pumpkins dive into the sea,/Swimming and surfing as fast as can be!”). The book also turns some iconic summer items into Halloween-related things, like the jolly watermelon jack-o-lanterns. The illustrations create the perfect balance of cute and slightly-spooky, and the book is an entertaining read for both kids and caregivers alike. Link to complete review: https://ysbookreviews.wordpress.com/2...

Apparently, there are those individuals who need more reasons to celebrate in the summer than the Fourth of July. In this colorful board book, which also serves as a counting book, various celebrants, including a witch, six pumpkins, and eight skeletons, among others, find different ways to have a blast. The rhyming lines add to the fun as do the participants themselves. But as someone who grew up on a farm knows, there aren't any round, ripe pumpkins ready to join any parties in the summer. Those pumpkins wouldn't be ready until the fall. Still, the combination of summer bliss and a hint of Halloween makes this one appealing for its intended young audience.

Occasionally I read kids' books. This one has a much brighter and vibrant cover than is shown on this site; FYI. I judged the book by the cover and read it. It's a board book that introduces the concepts of rhyming verse and counting from 1 to 10. It also intoduces the idea of Summerween where people celebrate the holiday all summer and not just one day. Anyway- cute book!

Cute idea for tots who can't get enough of Halloween. Fun to see the summer-time spins on Halloween items, such as the pineapples and watermelons carved like Jack o'Lanterns, mummies chasing an ice cream truck, or witches floating on inner-tubes in the pool.

I received this book from the publisher in exchange of an honest review!

A big big thank you to the publisher Tiger Tales for approving my request on Edelweiss, I have been hoping to read this book for a long time now. Summerween!

In this wonderful book we are not just counting upwards, but we also get to see how everyone in the spooky world is celebrating Summerween. What Summerween is? Well, see the GIF in the middle. Uncle Stan explains that it is Halloween, but in summer, because why celebrate it once? I loved that episode in Gravity Falls and I am so happy to see this picture book appear. So in this book we meet all sorts of spooky critters from mummies to witches to cats to skeletons and see how they are having the best best best Summerween. From splashing in the water with some watermelons shaped like Jack o’ Lanterns to 7 small bats flying in the wind with some gorgeous kites. I really had so much fun reading this one and I wish I could just step in an be part of the celebrations. Just like in Gravity Falls, well OK that is right up to the moment we met the Trickster, that was the point I was like well, nope. Thankfully, there are no Tricksters in this book, so let me step in!

The art is just so much fun and I adore the style. It is colourful, it gets the spookiness but makes it cute and fun.

All in all, if you need a book about Summerween, love cuteness and spoopiness then I would HIGHLY recommend this wonderful book. And I hope that more people will incorporate Summerween in their books!
