The job was simple. Answer the phone, solve the single dad’s dilemma, and move on.

I’m the temporary solution.

The fill-in.

The short-term Single Dad Hotline Helper until a more suitable one can be found.

I don’t get attached, I don’t stick around, and I certainly don’t fall for the single dad.

Until the job said, “Hold my beer,” and tipped my world upside down.

Suddenly my past and present are colliding to create a future I didn’t ask for. One I’m not even sure I want. One I know I’m not cut out for. A live-in nanny for my childhood crush?

Yeah, no thanks!

But when Sebastian Walker reenters my life with three children full of sadness that I feel in my soul, how can I turn them away?

He takes my superstitions and runaway tendencies in stride while claiming my days. But before I know it, he’s demanding my nights too.

When it’s his touch that soothes the fears inside me, what’s a girl to do?

I didn't like it, but i didn't hate it either.

* I didn't feel the connection between the MCs at first! but this gets better in the second half.

* One of the good things about this book was the h's relationship with the H’s kids.

* There are a lot of side characters! It got confusing at some point and i forgot who these people were.
__________

Safety:

Safe

— H (35) / h (33)
— Single dad to 3 kids (12 yo / 8 yo / 6 yo)
— The H is the one who pursues the relationship
— No virgins (the H has been celibate since his divorce months ago / no info about the h)
— No 3rd act break up

— Separation for 20 years (before the book starts)

their past was (off-page) and no details

The MCs met for the first time when they were children (h 8 / H 10) at a summer camp and became friends (they met every summer).
They had a crush on each other when they were (h 13 / H 15) but her abusive stepfather took her out of summer camp and they never saw each other again for 20 years.
The h was in contact with the H's grandfather and they both heard about each other through him, but they never met or spoke in all those years.
they only met again because his grandfather was playing matchmaker.

He was telling her “it’s always been you” and i can't believe his crap 🤷🏻‍♀️ because he never thought of meeting her again during those years.

— The H is divorced recently
His ex-wife had an affair with his best friend for years, she disappeared from their lives after the scandal (they were caught at her daughter's school party by everyone).
Their marriage was arranged (both came from money and he didn’t really love her).

“Yes, marrying Mya was easy. It looked good on paper, it made our fathers exceedingly happy, and for the most part, she was easy to get along with. We had a good life, or at least I thought we did.
But not once did I have that jolt of longing I get staring at a very grown up Rowan Ellis, and that’s where the guilt comes in.
I don’t agree with how Mya handled things, but if I’m truly honest with myself, I have to wonder if either of us were ever actually in love. Even searching my memories of us, I can’t begin to fathom how we went from the white picket fence to this.”
**********
“Honestly, not much has changed from when I was with their mother. I was the parent who did carpools and doctor appointments. I took them to extra curriculars and playdates. The more I recall of our past, well, I’m realizing Mya acted more as a warm body to be present when I had to work. Physically she was there, but she was never really emotionally available to any of us. I chose not to see it because I wanted that nuclear family so badly.”
**********
“For the first time since we sat down, she shows a glimpse of real emotion. A glimpse of the woman I thought I’d loved. That woman never would’ve done what she’s done. How did we go from what we were to this?
She used to be gentle, kind even. When Seren was born, I’d never seen her so happy. But now, all I see is a vacant shell with no love left to give.
I may never understand her outside of my part in our downfall. I cared for her as a husband should care for his wife, but if I’m honest, I was never in love with her, and now any positive emotion I felt toward her is gone. I should have known better than to enter an arranged marriage to make my father happy.”

— Broken h
~ Her childhood was difficult and has an abusive family
~ She was homeless at 16
~ She had surgery to tied her tubes so she never has children.
~ She had one long term relationship in college, she caught her ex-fiance cheating on her with her step-sister they had an affair for four months. The h has lost trust in everyone so she avoided commitments and affection (probably just do hookups).

— No ow/om/cheating
~ Their exes show up at some point but didn’t cause any drama between MCs
~ His ex-wife wanted to cause drama between the h and her kids (This woman was really a b¡tch and didn't deserve them) she isn’t present in her kids's lives anymore.
~ Her ex-fiancé is now married to her step-sister and it seems that he still has some feelings for the h and feels remorseful. He said he cheated on her at that time because her step-sister was blackmailing him (later step-sister gets the karma she deserves)

Perfection!
This is what a romance novel is supposed to look like! This book is overflowing with emotional impact, steamy scenes, cute kids, and a tribe of friends I’m jealous of. Rowan and Sebastian have a long and fascinating history that you will love, it’s best to just buckle up and hang on for the ride.

Late Nights & Love Lines is a beautiful single dad and nanny trope of romance and I'm loving every single page of it. Surprisingly, I don't mind the chapter titles even though they're kind of spoilery. What's more, I truly adore the chemistry and sparks between the protagonists, Rowan and Sebastian, throughout the book. Their shared history from childhood adds many much-needed layers to the overall depth of the story, making it even more believable when Sebastian helps Rowan get back on her feet after all the traumatic experiences she endured. Seeing both of them become better versions of themselves and eventually build a life together along with Sebastian's three kids really makes my heart full. This book is a real gem and I will cherish Rowan and Seb's journey forever. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

***Thanks to the author and Hambright PR for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.***

Single dad x Nanny trope?! Is there anything better?!!

4 ⭐️ 2🌶️
Single dad
Nanny
He falls first
Childhood friends

Sebastian and Rowan first met at a camp when they were kids and were really good friends until Rowans step father wrenches her from a camp performance and she is not seen at the camp again…

Years later Sebastian has three kids with his now ex wife who cheated on him with his business partner/best friend….

He now finds himself moving from Boston to shield the children from all the chaos caused by the cheating scandal, to the area where he used to go to camp.

Then we have Rowan who has had a really hard time in her life and is extremely closed off to people to protect herself but has found her self once again connected to the camp.

Rowan works for a single dad hotline which helps single dads navigate through the tough stages of parenting. But with the business expanding to offering nanny services Rowan finds herself nannying for her childhood best friend!

Sebastian was so sweet and patient and it was so refreshing in this dynamic he is definitely a golden retriever boyfriend but he is so protective of Rowan who is your closed off black cat in this duo 🖤

This book was so sweet and honestly if you are looking for a single dad romance right now! This is the one ❤️

After the less than ideal downfall of his marriage, Sebastian and his three kids move back near where his grandfather lives and to the camp that he grew up in. He needs to start over in a place where he and his children feel safe, while also being able to work with his business partners to save the business that his soon to be ex business partner is threatening to destroy.

What Sebastian doesn’t expect is to see a blast from his past. Rowan, the broken and damaged girl, now woman, who has had a tough life. A life that is unfair to anyone to live. And she’s here, at the place where both her dreams came true and were shattered in one day.

🩷Small town romance
🩷Single dad
🩷Second chance-ish
🩷Billionaire cinnamon roll MMC
🩷Damaged and hurt FMC
🩷Single dad x nanny

While this wasn’t a true second chance, I definitely felt like it was a second chance for these two to be together! They were so young when they knew one another, but now they are adults and have lived two completely different lives.

This journey was not an easy one, especially for Rowan. But I loved how Seb and his kids brought her back to life in the best way. The relationship between his daughter Seran and Rowan was the absolute star of the show!

We definitely get a glimpse into a potential couple for the future and I can’t wait.

Spice - 🌶🌶

Trope - single dad, billionaire romance, single dad hotline responder, friends to lovers, he falls first, cute kids, forced proximity, nanny, commitment phobic FMC, it's always been you, found family, grief, no-third act breakup, second chance, small town, workplace.
Bonus chapter - 1

This book revolves around Sebastian and Rowan. Sebastian is a recently divorced billionaire who urgently needs help with his three children. Enter Rowan, Sebastian's childhood friend, who works for the Single Dad Hotline as a helper. She agrees to assist as a nanny for her friend's brother's business partner. Unknown to both of them, they cross paths, and destiny works its magic, leaving both unable to do anything but let their feelings rekindle.

Their relationship is filled with ups and downs. Rowan carries a previous burden and hasn't found her forever home because of it. However, Sebastian makes it his mission to show her what she has been missing all her life.

The men's joining forces to help Sebastian is both hilarious and sweet. But what made it more enjoyable was reading Sebastian follow the plan and flirt with Rowan. Those banter-filled moments are utterly delightful.

Rowan is sweet, caring, and incredibly strong given all that she has gone through. She also expresses herself beautifully, demonstrating the author's thorough research on therapy and trauma response. Her bond with the kids is precious, and I relished each moment they shared.

The way Sebastian consistently supported Rowan broke my heart - he knew it could lead to heartache, but he remained present for her regardless of the pain he might endure later.

Moreover, he was a wonderful and loving dad. The balance he maintains between love and firm parenting was so well portrayed. He was such a caring and mature character.

There is some drama done by their exes and haters, but in the end, it all turns out in their favour. Loved how there was no third-act break-up, but great character development where both the MCs got to show their strength and love.

Side characters -
1. The kids - Seren is often mature, but she has been hurt badly, so she acts out in several ways. Miles, sweet Miles, is empathetic, caring, and immensely loving. Kade, that wrecking ball of a kid, brings a smile in the toughest moments. His innocence is like a wave of fresh water that washes away all the bad things.
2. Pappy, oh Pappy. His love and care for Rowan surpassed what blood relatives typically show, and I cherished every moment he was present.
3. The friend group is a chef's kiss. The way that not only Sebastian but the entire friend group and family fight for Rowan soothes my heart. The found family trope here is unique and beautiful.
4. I never thought I would see Beck as a family man who not only welcomes people but also accepts them into his world. Watching him be a great friend, dad, and uncle is pure bliss - this is what I envision when I say I love; when previous book characters not only grow but also provide constant support to the new couple and family.
_____________________________

This book strikes a balance between emotion and plot. It is not too emotional but certainly not bland. The chemistry between the couple, side characters, and kids is exquisitely written.

The bonus chapter was so damn beautiful - I almost cried.
I really enjoyed it.
Can't wait to read the next book.

Some romances give us a group of friends who are warm and inviting, and then others, like this one, give us a group of friends who feel like family and make us yearn for a fictional place. While this is a story in the Single Dad Hotline series, we're back in the small, coastal town of Sailport Bay, and it feels like coming home.

Sebastian Walker and his three children, Seren, Miles, and Kade, will spend the summer at and enjoy the same camp Seb attended as a child. The same camp where he first met Rowan Ellis, the same gal who is now his kids' temporary nanny. On the heels of betrayal and divorce, Rowan is just what this heartbroken family needs to heal and thrive.

This gifted wordsmith brought this one alive, so much so that I felt I was living this story right alongside the characters. I adore this group of friends, the kids, and Seb's Pappy so much, but Rowan is the one who owned my heart completely. This poor girl has been a student in the school of hard knocks for so long that she doesn’t know what to do when a place and its people feel like her home. But like any people worth their salt, this group surrounds Rowan, cares for her, and shows her they have her back time and time again.

This is the full-of-feels read your romantic heart has been longing for. It will take you on an epic emotional ride, with all the highs and lows and in between, and you’ll love this place and these characters so much that you'll never want to leave. This talented storyteller once again one-ups herself with this funny, evocative, steamy romance. Seb and Rowan will own your heart and you'll want to hold on to them forever, so don’t miss this extraordinary read.

5⭐

This is book two of the Single Dad Hotline. This novel is everything I never knew I needed in a single dad small town friends to lovers story.

Sebastian is a father of three kids, whose life just imploded due to his wife cheating on him with his friend and business partner. He decides to give his kids the reprieve they need from the fall out and brings them to his grandparents camp that he used to go to as a kid.

Sebastian reconnects with his childhood friend Rowan who he always thought about and is instantly reminded of all those feelings he had for her as a young boy. Rowan has suffered so much trauma at the hands of her mother and step father that she is constantly running from any attachments thinking that will keep her safe. She’s temporarily helping her friend Lottie with the “single dads hotline” as a temporary nanny for single dads that need help with their children until a permanent one is found. She has one person in her life that she cares for and that just s happens to be

I was all up in my feelings. I always get emotionally invested in stories with children. Sebastian’s patience and kindness never faltered for his kids and for Rowan. It was so heartwarming and beautiful. He gives Rowan the grace she needs to work through her insecurities and anxieties. I also loved the found family dynamic with the dads and how all the girls included Rowan. Pappy Sebastian’s grandfather made me laugh with his words of wisdom. They all were just there for each other in the most beautiful way. Lastly, the connection Rowan was able to form with Seren. The trust that was formulated was just everything 🥹

This was my first Avery maxwell book and it definitely won’t be my last! I think was the perfect book to read as an end to my summer reads because it’s everything that a summer romance should be! Filled with sun, happiness, a quirky small town, a perfect group of friends and an endless amount of love!

After his marriage is destroyed, Sebastian returns to his childhood camp with his kids to get away. And that’s where he sees his friend (more like his first love) Rowan. Rowan has lived a long and hard life, and while she has run away from it, she also has never stopped running. That is until Sebastian, seren, miles, Kade and Pappy stop her.

I really enjoyed this book. It was very heartfelt and emotional. It was a lot deeper than I was expecting for a cute single dad beach town romance but I loved it (even if I cried). I loved the kids so much ugh I wish I could hug them. I loved how doting Sebastian was. He never gave up on Rowan and he fought for her. Rowan may have struggled to accept the love that wasn’t used to getting in the beginning but she learned to herself bask in it. And that never stopped her from being such a loving and gentle soul to everyone around her. I truly loved how Seb and Rowan helped and healed each other’s wounds. I also really loved the found family aspect and the ending was genuinely SO CUTE!!! I also appreciate there not being a third act break up because the circumstances could’ve been a lot different.

If I had to say anything about this book, it would be that maybe it was a little long? Some parts of the book felt a little too wordy and unnecessary because i wasn’t really paying attention. I think that happened more when the business and all those complications were being discussed. Also I think there were too many side characters like I was struggling to keep up and remember who was who. It also added too many background stories and plots that added to some confusion. But I despite that I did actually love the side characters especially the moments where seren and Rowan could have some moments of true girlhood!!

Anywyas I’m glad I read this book! It was super cute! I’m so grateful for the arc I received! Thank you to Avery Maxwell and Hambright PR!

Holy wow, this series just keeps grabbing me and making me want more! Rowan and Sebastian have quite the past, that one doesn’t wish to acknowledge, and could have an incredibly happy future, if the fear doesn’t cause one (or both?) to flee from the possibility.

But even with all of the angst of the past, the pain of what was, the confusion of figuring out how to love and what IS, these two have so many people behind them that it’s hard to fathom failure in any sort of way, no matter how minuscule or gigantic. And even though someone has pranks up their sleeve, and I’m pretty sure I know who another prankster was, everyone comes together when it counts. Every time. Little things. Big things. Family things. All of it.

Don’t get me wrong. Rowan’s past will make you so sad, but the fact that she takes it to help others? A bit of genius. And Seb has a lot of pain behind his smile also. But he’s not afraid to get bruised again if it means helping Rowan see just how loved and valued she is by all. And the men who meddle? Oh, they’re clutch every step of the way.

Enjoy this ride. Say hi to some familiar friends. And yeah, you’ll wonder about something with 22 and the person who helps to serve as the catalyst. But you’ll still be surprised by just how far these folks are willing to go for love over all. Personally? I can’t wait to see more of them. All of them.

Another amazing story by Avery and the perfect book to continue this series!

I was hooked right from the beginning. Nanny/Single Dad vibes & throw in they actually knew each other in their childhood? I was sold.

I found myself instantly connecting with the children in this one and feeling for their situation.

I thought the MMC was perfect for the FMC, he loved her unconditionally and for exactly who she was!

You get:
• Spicy Contemporary Romance
• Small Town
• Found Family
• Second Chance
• Nanny/Single Dad
• Reverse Grumpy X Sunshine
• Past Trauma

I can't wait to read the next one in this series! Available on KU, ebook, and paperback.

Sebastian Walker has three kids, Seren, Miles and six year old Kade. When his now ex left them, he is trying to raise them on his own along with building a new business adventure. Needing help is just where the singles dad hotline comes in! Rowan aka Peach is friends with the owner of the hotline and that’s how she ends up being Sebastian’s new temporary nanny. They aren’t strangers though, they knew each other when they were kids. What could happen when they all get together to fix up a new camp and entertain three kids at the same time? A wonderful mix of silly pranks with a heartwarming and emotional story interwoven. Get ready for a summer romance with all the feels! Told in first person and dual POV.

Sebastian Walker has know Rowan Ellis since she was 8 years old and they were at camp together. Rowan’s life changed when her dad died at 10 years old and her mother remarried a man who made it his mission to torture her. Her stepsister was no better. Years later she comes across Sebastian at the same camp when he buys a house on the grounds and needs a nanny for his 3 children. His children have had their own trauma with their mother so Sebastian needs to get them out of Boston and away from the ridicule of their mother’s action.
This book gave me hope that no matter the childhood you can find your HEA! Loved every word of it and I love the town of Sailport Bay! Can’t wait for the next installment.

It was a cute, sweet, steamy and emotional book with fantastic side characters and adorable kids. Be prepared to let this story take hold of you and not let go!

I am not even sure how to review this book! What an amazing ride!! I absolutely loved it!! This book is emotional and heart wrenching. It is a story of resilience, strength and the unconditional love of those we call family. I laughed and I cried. I laughed until I cried!! It was a roller coaster of emotions!!

Rowan and Sebastian are two souls who were destined to meet more than once in a lifetime. Both are beaten down by life. They need each other. Rowan is a runner but Sebastian makes her want to stay. One pappy, three kids and a tribe of meddling friends make for a fun, sweet (but very romantic and sexy) heartwarming story you have got to read!

A Thoughtful Sequel with Heart and Found Family.

I enjoyed this read! It was a little wordy at times, especially with the internal narrative, but I liked it overall. The inclusion of children made the story more robust and added depth to the plot.

The theme of chosen family was a nice thread throughout. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the first, but it was still a solid read — and I’m looking forward to the next series.

Rowan has been taking care of herself for years, loosing her father when she was young had a huge impact on her life.
Her love was always music and visiting the summer camp until her step father ruined her last experience.
Sebastian is desperate to help his children Serena, Miles and Kade after his ex wife Mya's & former business partner Nick's betrayal.
When the two meet at again camp he knows he needs her in their life & not just any nanny. How to stop a runner?
A truly wonderful story.

I am honored to say: Welcome to my first ever pre-published book review. SO freaking honored to be a part of this PR team and give you my honest thoughts on this wonderful read! 5+ stars! Thank you for my copy! … This is the story of Rowan (or should I say ‘Peach’) and Sebastian! …Out of touch for many years with only his grandfathers’ updates to keep in touch with the girl he fell in love with when he was 12 at summer camp, Sebastian finds Rowan back in his life once again, and himself back at the very same camp- except helping run it this time. Needing a nanny for his kids while he gets things settled with this new business venture, Rowan temporarily steps up to the plate until he can find someone else to help out. Was it fate? …An invisible string? Or maybe even a perfectly meddling grandfather playing a hand here at their reconnection? And how long can they stay reconnected? A sizzling romance of true love and self development, this story had it all and I am so proud to say I was one of the first readers! “For today and tomorrow…”

By Ch 3 I was really invested. Out of a 400 page book, by 50 I was flying through….

I love how the story had realness to it; that Rowan had her own struggles with trust and love, and Sebastian trying his best to be the best dad he could be under the circumstances & still be a good man himself. It made the story more compelling and layered. Real, really. They just seemed like genuine, good people, ya know? Even if it was fictional. At times, it was a bit over the top, but glad she got those reassurances anyway.

The chapter names were really funny (and accurate too!). Very clever. I really appreciated that and it was always a cool moment to realize why the chapters were named what they were. A real ‘aha moment’ and super cute. Love that.

It had great unrequited sexual tension (at first unrequited hehe), HOT physical chemistry. Duel POV. Great micro-troupes like helping with first aid, accidentally getting close from slipping but not pulling away right away once caught in the beginning, a hidden meaningful tattoo… Hot speeches from him. Plus he’s protective and kind. Almost to a fault. Seeing both of them with the kids & their dynamic was great too.

Rowan (female mc) is kind and guarded while also being very lovable. Some might find her stuck, but she was sweet. Seren and the kids were a great read as well. I appreciate how the kids were not ignored, but well worked into the plot line as well. Loved Pappy and bathroom girls as well.

Perfectly descriptive. Great scene flow. Not confusing in the least. The plot also moves at a great pace. It all had a very smooth flow and all made sense. Like a well rehearsed dance and I appreciate that so much in writing. Perfectly descriptive. So well versed it’s like I was picturing it in my mind. Who was standing where… what characters were in the room, the smooth multitasking of the writing is what I really appreciated and loved as well. And considering there were so many side friends, I’m impressed by the end I was able to keep up. Good sign!!

At first, I will say, I was a bit confused on the friends introduced so quickly, (I was actually taking notes in my phone). But it ended up falling into place as the story went on. And the friends were just too funny!! Added a great dynamic to the story and light fun. Turns out you just kind of catch on.

I really liked the psychological insight that the author included in there from time to time as well. Sometimes it was a lot, but I understand.

The pep talks & beautiful little speeches had for one another. To the kids, from the dad. To Rowan. From Rowan to the kids. Pappy. The daughter to Rowan; the girls. Just an all ‘round circle of trust, comfort and love - from everybody!! The friends’ too!! The development of the friends by the end were so monumental and the banter was great. Really enjoyable.

The speeches really had me going, ‘wow. what beautiful advice.’ and I was truly touched by each of their words for each other. But there were a lot of them, I will say. I did still appreciate it for the most part. (Kind of like Rowan??)

All in all: Beautiful story, not just about love; but about life, overcoming struggles and personal strife. Loved the daughter, Seren, & how it all came full circle.

What a heart wrenchingly good book about your childhood friend who you lose touch with only to have fate send you back to each other years later. I don't know how Avery was able to write most of this book thru her tears. So touching and if ever a couple.were.meant to be it's Sebastian and Rowan. Here's one of my favorite lines:
“But promise me that you’ll talk to us, okay? We can’t make the world make sense, but we can love you through the pain of it.”

This was by far the best second chance, single dad romance I have read in a while. Late Nights & Love Lines took me through a series of emotions from smiling, laughing, crying and swooning. It was like riding the best kind of roller coaster.

Rowan & Sebastian are truly meant for each other. They are part of destiny...written in the stars so to speak.

My heart absolutely broke for Rowan. Her past is not an easy one and she is a runner. But when Sebastian and his children enter the picture..Rowan starts to think that she can finally stop running and set down roots but she just needs someone to show her how to do that.

The relationships Rowan builds with each of Sebastian's children as individuals was so beautiful. For the children being young they were quick to really see Rowan and her internal battles and call her out on some of it (not in a rude way in a more intuitive way). I especially loved Rowan and Seren’s relationship. They were two birds of a feather and helped heal each other in ways they both needed and understood.

Sebastian….this man was so patient with Rowan. I can’t even put into words how this man slowly built trust with Rowan and showed her that he was there and all in with her but understood if she was ready to run but wanted her to know she always had a home with him.

Truly this book was heartbreaking and beautiful. The growth for Rowan was amazing and the relationship not only between her and the kids and Sebastian but also his friend group was everything( “Down there, yes. But one of our lost souls still hasn’t fully entered the orphanage.” Stella grins. “So we brought the orphanage to her.”)

I will add Pappy…I adored him and how he was always there for Rowan and gave her just the right amount of space she needed but was there for her when she needed it the most just didn’t realize it or ask for it.

This book will live rent free in my head for a while and for sure will be a reread for me. I highly recommend this if you want a single dad, second chance, found family book.

Thank you Hambright PR and Avery Maxwell for the arc of this book.

She is a temporary nanny who keeps everyone at arm's length. He is the single dad who vowed to marry her the first time he met her when they were kids.

Rowan is broken and runs from emotional ties. Her job as a temporary nanny helps her keep moving so she doesn't get hurt by caring about people. Her family was horrible to her as a child. Her only positive memories were of Pappy and his summer camp. It was there she met Pappy's grandson who always seemed to be there when she needed him. Now all these years later, he needs her.

Sebastian is taking his kids from their narcissistic birth mother and the toxic environment they used to call home. The best place on earth, his grandfather's camp in North Carolina, will be the place where his kids can heal. Knowing he needs a nanny, Pappy suggests the perfect person for a few weeks, the girl Sebastian never forgot.

Seeing Rowan all these years later makes his heart stutter. Has he really been in love with her since they were children? And why is he just now realizing she was destined to be his?

Rowan is full of unpleasant, foreign emotions around Seb and his kids. Soon they start to become the most important thing in her life and she has no idea what to do about it. Her broken heart doesn't know how to stay.

Dual POV, childhood friends to lovers, single dad, open door love scenes.

This story has a layer of depth I wasn't expecting. Rowan is a broken mess. About half way through, I was so heartsick for her thinking there is no way she can heal from all her pain. By the end, I'm still convinced she needs to do some intense therapy but at least she grew as a character. Sebastian is darling and the kind of man you want to cheer for. His sweet affection for Rowan is like a healing balm. While some of the chaos and unnecessary details of this story kept me from giving it 5 stars, these two MCs are still pretty great together. Nice HEA and Epilogues.

There are so many secondary characters from the other books. This is a series best enjoyed reading in order all at once so you can keep track of everyone.

Dear future me, yes, read the next one in this series and anything by this author.

My group of go-to authors includes the extremely talented Avery Maxwell. I never need a blurb or a cover to snare my attention - her name guarantees a purchase!

How do you spell relief? H-O-T-L-I-N-E. A voice over the phone, available 24-7, soothes frayed nerves like a Xanax or a stiff drink. An experienced nanny can de-escalate situations providing the advice single dads need to cope.

Hotline employee, Rowan, uses the phone and her temporary nanny fill-in jobs to insulate herself by isolation. If she doesn't stick around, feelings can't form in her or the family she helps. Very young when her father died, Rowan's family life became hellish. She did escape into music playing her beloved piano, and a few brief early years of summer camp introduced her to Sebastian (a boy a few years older) and his grandfather, Pappy. But her piano and camp were soon stolen from her.

Each new revelation about her formative years led to her adoption of her heartbreaking attitude about relationships. She's a great believer in bad luck and highly superstitious as well. Pappy managed to keep in touch by letters, and through her nannying, Row met Sebastian again when he moved back home and his three children. Reeling from his ex-wife's personal and business betrayal, Seb is trying to heal his children's shattered emotions and save his business with his partners.

His feelings have grown since childhood, and Seb slowly convinces commitment-phobe Row to give him just her "todays and tomorrows". His business partners/friends and families begin to fold her into their "orphanage of lost souls". Rowan slides back and forth stressing about building relationships and then everything seems to explode in her face. But Avery's books end in HEAs. It's the surprises and shocks that keep you guessing how it could ever end well, but the humor (like the name of his friends' chat group!) and love keeps you grounded.

I adored this book (as I do all of them) and loved the hints of the next in the series. I can't wait!

This is what perfection looks like in a story.

Wow! Sebastian and Rowan have known each other most of their lives, connecting each summer at camp as kids. When Rowan is ripped away from camp their lives are separated. Years later Sebastian moved to Sailport Bay with his three children to begin anew after a public and disappointing dissolution of his marriage. Enter Rowan, an operator on the single dad’s hotline, as the temporary nanny, and all the feelings Sebastion had as a young man come flooding back. He sees this as fate giving him a second chance. Past tr@uma, present frustrations, and future desires create an emotionally gripping story. I love the fortitude and genuine strength Rowan displays despite her rough past. She is the definition of a strong-willed, capable heroine. Sebastion’s kindness and intensity are shown in his love for his children.

Avery Maxwell’s is easily a one-click author for me. The characters she creates live on long in my mind and heart after I’ve finished reading their story. Sebastian’s three children were wonderful, from the grumpy pre-teen girl Seren to the younger eight-year-old Miles who is just delightful, and the irrepressible six-year-old Kade. Some of the best scenes were between the adults and the children, especially Seren and Rowan. I love that he is present in their lives and is willing to let someone else step in to help him and the kids. I love it when Ms. Maxwell brings characters from previous stories to the current read, I feel like I’m being reacquainted with old friends. Seeing Beck and Stella was a joy. I was so captivated by this story, that when it was over, I literally wondered what I would do next. I’m looking forward to the next single dad hotline book and hope to see all my favorite people back again.

This was perfection. This book has all the emotions, found family, interfering pappy, heat and a load of super cute kids. Throw in childhoods reconnecting and you've got the ideal end of summer novel. This felt like I was transported to Sailport Bay and I can honestly say, I want to move there!

Sebastian's ex-wife brought embarrassment and anger to his family when she crashed through the curtains at his daughter's school concert, entangled with his ex-business partner. When the disgrace gets too much for his kids, he flees Boston for the summer to be near his grandfather at the camp he grew up at. When his temporary nanny shows up, it turns out that it's Rowan Ellis, the little girl that came to camp every year, until one year she didn't. Sebastian always remembered that girl, but now she's a beautiful woman. But Rowan, didn't have that great of an upbringing and she is scarred so deep, that she doesn't know anything other than to run! She never stays too long and when someone starts to get attached, she flees. Rowan understands the trauma that Sebastian's eldest daughter is going through, and tries to bond with her to ease her anger and hurt, but Seren is not easy to win over. As Rowan and Sebastian spend more time together, Sebastian realizes that he is falling for Rowan, but she can't commit to longer than a few weeks. The people of Sailport Bay are very welcoming and bring Rowan into their fold and try to show her that you can rely on others.

This is a story of found family, of the "orphanage of lost souls" and the love that can surround you if you open yourself up. I love Ms. Maxwell's style of writing and I'm invested, right from the very start. With Beck and Stella from the first book in the series and the additional characters, that engulf Rowan in love and acceptance, this is a great story!

Thank you so much Hambright PR for sending me this ARC!

Late Night & Love Lines is the second book in a Single Dad Hotline series of standalones and after loving the first book, I think I fell in love with Seb and Rowan’s story even more!

After a disastrous divorce, Sebastian with his 3 kids moves to a small town to be closer to his business partners and the last thing he expects is for his childhood friend, Rowan, to be the temporary nanny he hired. Rowan has never had an easy life, she treats everything as temporary and is always ready for the next adventure, but when she starts catching feelings for Sebastian and his children, she has to decide whether she is ready to risk her heart and try to stay in their lives.

To say I love Rowan, Seb and his children would be an understatement, they were all such amazing and three dimensional characters I was invested in their story since the first page and my heart was breaking for all of them so many times, they all went through a lot and I loved how they helped each other heal, they made such a beautiful family. Sebastian and Rowan were amazing as a couple, I could understand Rowan’s reservation about relationships, but the way Seb always understood her, helped her with her struggles, was there for her and made her a part of his family was so beautiful and their scenes together made me tear up a few times, they were so perfect for each other and I loved seeing them together. It was also great to see familiar faces from the previous book because I really like all the characters in this series and already can’t wait for the next book to see them again.

Late Nights and Love Lines is an amazing book with great character, beautiful romance and many funny and emotional moments that I really loved and definitely recommend to everyone. I can’t wait for the next book!

Genre & Tropes : romance contempo x single dad x second chance romance x small town romance x past trauma x evil ex

A second chance romance that I read with pleasure with characters who have lived through very difficult times

This is the second book of this series and I really liked this book like the previous one with characters who have lived through such horrible things (Sebastian's ex !! And Rowan's family !!)!

But like the previous one, I would have liked more details on Jake's lies, on what exactly happened with Sebastian's ex, on the reasons behind Rowan's family's behavior ... Everything is implied and therefore it lacks details !

Small detail : like the previous book, these are characters who have experienced very painful moments so beware of triggers !

In short, a romance that I read with pleasure !

LOVED this book!! Sebastian and Rowan’s story nearly tore my heart apart. So much pain, so much isolation and so much indifference defines their pasts. Fate or perhaps a love line, tethered their souls together when they were children. Even then Rowan was dealing with far too much pain, parental indifference and a step-family nightmare. It was Sebastian (Seb), with his own terrible family problems, who went out of his way to protect, encourage and befriend her. His grandfather, Pappy, became a constant in both of their lives, an anchor to keep them sane, to show them someone cared. Now years later, Rowan and Seb come face to face again, that love line that tethered them then is reeling them in and still providing a strong connection to each other as well as the chance to heal themselves, each other and the hearts of his young children.

Rowan and Seb are two characters that I will always remember and admire. They both put the needs of others first and struggle when it comes to asking for help for themselves. They have forged lives for themselves that have broken foundations and have feared trying to mend them would leave them even more broken. The connection they felt as children is given a chance to grow, change, bind them tightly together and heal them. Of course, along with Pappy, both Seb and Rowan also have a great group of friends, a found family, that encourages, advises and cheers them on to a well deserved happily ever after. Their story is most definitely emotional, inducing laughter, tears and finally elated smiles. It is well worth reading.

I would give this incredible book my highest recommendation. It deserves much more than five stars and is at the top of my keepers list.
