Sui Ishida is his penname; nobody knows his real name or what he looks like.
I recently started and caught up on Choujin X, and it’s quickly become a must read. The dynamic between Tokio, Azuma, and Ely is exceptionally well written - complex, unpredictable, and deeply human. What makes the story so captivating is its moral ambiguity; I genuinely can’t tell who will fall into villainy or who will remain steadfast, though “good” and “evil” hardly seem adequate terms in the world of Choujin X.
Batista stands out as one of the most compelling antagonists I’ve encountered in any manga, his motivations layered and understandable on a human level. I’m so invested in the story that I find myself genuinely anxious about which of Tokio’s friends might turn. I so deeply want them all to find peace, a happy ending that feels so out of reach. It’s heartbreaking.
From its stunning artwork and intricate world building to its deliberate pacing and emotional depth, Choujin X solidifies itself as one of the best manga of this generation. I recommend this to anyone, it doesn’t matter if you are in to manga or not, Choujin X is simply that great.
Bador being called the heartthrob general and then we are shown a panel with the prettiest looking guy in the series. I see your game Ishida.
Gosh I love Simon and him being a sword choujin. He’s just such a cool character that I wish we saw more of.
Okay, okay. Bador. Bador is pretty fucking cool man. Him getting ready for round three is insane. O hear me out on this one.
Fuck I just realized that parallel of Ely’s mom being a taker and not a giver and how Ely wasn’t going to be like her mom but she ended up being a taker choujin anyways. WOW.
I AM SORRY CHILDREN OF ZORA WHO RECEIVED HER BLOOD WILL CEASE TO EXIST IF SHE IS KILLED?!!!!??? Ishida, you monster!
Oh god Azuma. That ending. The bringing back of the tracks. Him actually being lonely bc his family is gone. Gosh Ishida you have really stepped up your fucking game on this one.
The designs and different changes and transformations of the characters are interesting, fun and qeird and I really like it. It makes the story more unsettling and gives gravitas to the people, and so far it is not as gimmicky as for example, Freeza's transformations were. The attack is pure carnage and in some cases, it works well and in others not so much. But overall I think Ishida manages to put together fast-paced interesting gore fest.
idk it's basically tokyo ghoul but a lot more shonen like and stripped down. it's a lot funner i think but it definitely doesn't have anywhere near the bite. azuma and tokio's dynamic is also stupid good it actually might be better than any of the relationships in tokyo ghoul.
Absolutely enthralling an artist at his prime, flexing every single skill he has. Ishida is a gem and his art just keeps getting better and better. This is insane to witness.
