The Territory

Rate this book
Bob Haze had a regular life as Sheriff of Redemption, Montana. A life that was blown apart when he discovered his wife and son had disappeared, last seen heading out of Redemption, with three men, all strangers, all riding north, which suggested they were bound for the Territory, a large forbidding area, also known as the badlands, a place no-one went unless they had to. A place known to harbour outlaws, murderers, and thieves, where even the most hard-bitten lawman dreaded to go.

Sheriff Bob embarked on a search, aided by a strange, mystic, Sioux Indian, named Blue Eagle, renowned tracker and ex-scout for Custer.

The search enlarged from Montana to Denver, Colorado, and, eventually, Arizona and New Mexico. It affected the lives of all involved, including Bob's trusted Deputy, Carl Tolliver. The outcome involved gunplay, murder, and drastic twists and turns. All overshadowed by the strange pull of the Territory. A place Sheriff Bob was drawn to. The shattering end was to be in the centre of the Territory, marked by a cottonwood tree, whose skeletal branches pointed to the sky and beyond.
