4.5, rounding up -- it would be a clear 5 stars if there were accompanying videos for the broom making process, because that's how I learn best, but I understand that multi-modal books are not always feasible. While I found the written instructions easy to follow, I think having previously watched some videos from other broom crafters helped significantly.

The book is a very fast read; about 30% of the book is on history, tools, techniques and spells, 50% is on the metaphysical and physical properties of wood (to be used as a broom handle), and 20% of the book contains instructions on how to create six different types of brooms. The book contains a bibliography with sources and further reading. I found the book very inviting, to the point that it was hard to sit still and keep reading -- with every page I wanted to go on a walk and explore the trees that could be incorporated into the craft. While the actual task of assembling a broom is fairly speedy, the task of selecting and processing a handle could take anywhere from six months to several years. Many recommendations are given for how to approach the task with the appropriate amount of intention.

This is a really great addition to your personal library if you are interested in crafting your own tools!

I loved this book. Simple to read, informative, and clear explanations on how to build your own tools and brooms. Plus the list of woods, wow! I great reference. My one complaint? Now I want all the brooms.

If you want to learn more about broom magic or want to learn to make your own, this is definitely the book for you.
