I do love a shifter romance and this one did not disappoint, I’ve read all the others books in this series and loved them. I have been hoping that Fisher Would get his own story one day, he was perfect for Averie.
Averie is the on the run from the psycho shifter who wants her to be his mate and killed her father after he tried to save her, Averie hasn’t spent much time time in human form as she has mostly been in wolf form since being on the run. When she discovers Fisher injured she stays to help him.
I find in some shifter books the men can be real alphaholes but the male characters in Eve Bale’s books aren’t like that, Fisher is actually quite sweet and perfect for Averie. I enjoyed the storyline, I love the world set in Hardin and all the characters, it was good to read more about Mart Fisher’s Dad and I wasn’t surprised that he knows more than he lets on. What I love most about this series is you get a sneak peek into the next book so that the series flows and isn’t just a series of standalones. If you like shifter or paranormal romance then I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to you.
I seriously love this series. I found it right before Halle and Kier’s story was published. It was my first introduction to the paranormal romance genre so it really kills me to say that this book just didn’t do it for me. It felt forced, like some of their conversations just felt out of nowhere. Once sentence is talking about something completely normal then the next is a random love declaration. It also felt super rushed. These books aren’t normally long by any means and are typically a fast burn but this one felt like everything happened within 5 minutes. I was really disappointed. Eve, please make the next one just a little longer. The story lines are normally great but this one felt like it was just published to put something new out.
A wonderful way to revisit some of my favorite characters and intriguing world is another great story to add to the series. I became immersed in this book by the immediate connection I had with the characters - the emotionally engaging scenes made it impossible to put this book down. I loved it and cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
