I need Your help and sooner would be better than later. Wouldn't you know it, just as soon as I decide to attempt the 5-Day Bible Study Challenge, my parents start heaping on loads of pressure to get me into Julliard. My friend Amy isn’t any better, urging me to ask Luke Ryan to homecoming. As if the cute, transfer jock would actually go out with me. I mean, we’re kinda friends, and I’ve enjoyed our Geometry study sessions, but in case Amy hasn’t noticed, I’m the invisible one at Aubrey Christian Academy, and I like it that way. On top of that, I have a feeling Luke’s concealing something behind those chocolate-brown eyes of his. I know I can be self-centered and a bit melodramatic, but I really do want to seek Your will for my life. Then maybe I’ll even figure out which direction points up.

Oh my goodness! This was so cute! I really liked all the Spiritual content in “Andrea’s 5-Day Challenge” and I laughed a lot! The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the Minor Cussing and the bit of romance/crushes. But truly, it all seemed believable to me. :)

GOOD NEWS! Luke's Book is coming this Christmas!!
Hey Readers! I hope you will enjoy Andrea's story. This is Book 1 in the Aubrey Christian Academy Series. Here is a little bit about my main characters Andrea & Luke.
Andrea considers herself to be the least interesting of her group of friends. In her mind, she isn’t smart like Amy or artistic like Angie or beautiful and popular like Alisha. She sees herself as that girl with the plain brown hair, size nine feet, and who doesn’t participate much in school activities. She’s a lot like most kids. I think the average person can relate to her. Except she does have this exceptional talent she likes to downplay. She’s actually a wonderful pianist and her parents have all these designs to get her into a performing arts school so she can one day end up at a place like Julliard. In addition to that, Andrea has a sweet, caring spirit and this is something that Luke, our hero, notices right away. It sets her apart from every other girl at school in his eyes.
Then we have Luke, cute transfer student from California. Luke might be an all-star varsity baseball player, but he’s not like the rest of the A-list kids. He’s very down to earth and not looking for what’s popular and cool. He’s had to mature quickly. His family life is not the greatest. They’ve experienced a personal tragedy, and that’s part of the reason why he latches on to Andrea early on. He sees something in her that every one else seems to miss. She has value and when they get together they just kind of have that spark.

I was asked to read and review this book, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. When I read the synopsis on it, it didn’t really seem like something I would read, but in the end, it was much better than I thought it was going to be.
Andrea is a 16 year old girl in a Christian Academy. She plays the piano, likes to read, and diligently keeps up with her Bible Challenge. When Andrea starts to realize that Luke Ryan, the new, cute guy from California, has an interest in being more than friends, she kind of freaks out. Andrea doesn’t believe that there is anyway a popular guy like Luke, would have any interest in her. When she finally starts to accept their relationship, more things come up, and she’s just doesn’t know what to do. With Luke, her piano recital, and homecoming right around the corner, Andrea doesn’t know if she can handle all that’s on her plate.
Like I said before, this book was better than I thought it would be. I wasn’t actually a huge fan of Andrea, though. I didn’t like that she was always down on herself, thinking that no one would ever like her. There were some parts in the book that I was just like, “For Gosh sakes Andrea, just let the boy love you!” Haha. Seriously though, at some points Andrea kind of got on my nerves. Luke, on the other hand, is AMAZING. He’s exactly the kind of girl everyone wants to have as their own, so when he starts to take an interest in Andrea, the main character, every girl reading this book went, “YES! Finally!” And every time Luke did something gentleman-like, I swooned. Haha. It’s true though, Luke is perfect. You will quickly fall in love with him when you read this book, and discover that sometimes life will throw stuff at you that may seem hard, but you just have to trust God in the same way Andrea did, and things will get better.

The main reason I tried this story is because the excerpt on Amazon made me laugh—which is a big achievement. So I downloaded the novel with no real expectations other than I hoped it would be good enough to finish.
Long story short: It was!!!
Swept up into Andrea’s life, I laughed at a teenage girl’s humor (even though she doesn’t realize she’s funny), cringed at random daily life in high school, and shared sympathy as she struggles out of her comfort zone.
I totally loved the budding relationship between Andrea and Luke. Cute to watch as they both tackle their insecurities. They kept me anxious to see how it’d all would end.
Every girls’ name in Andrea’s circle started with the letter “A”. Originally, I thought this would be an issue throughout the book. I pictured myself struggling to figure out what A-name goes with which girl, but the author captured descriptive personalities, backgrounds, and quirks, making it effortless to associate names with each friend.
The interactions between Andrea and her parents were written in a way to view both sides of the story, showing that parents are in fact—humans. ☺ They can be wise and yet aren’t perfect either. However, I did think it odd for her mom to call her “daughter” during their conversations…?
The faith element weaved throughout the story well. Mostly found in the journaling sections, or in Andrea’s thought process, which never felt out of place.

First I want to thanks the author for providing me an ebook copy in an exchange for an honest review.
This was soo good, fun, and such an easy read. I laughed which I love to do and I'm so glad I had the chance to read this book.
The books is told from the POV of Andrea a 16 years-old girl. This girl, even though she's insecure and dislike changes, is funny, a little stubborn but a good girl. She's always trying to do the right thing, and one thing I really liked about her is that she accepted her errors something not every teenager her age does.
I found Andrea, Amy, Angie, and Alisha's friendship amazing, they where really supportive with each other. Amy, Angie and Alisha knew when to push Andrea and when to back down. At first I confused Angie with Alisha but a couple of pages later I knew the difference between the two of them.
Luke... he was simply cute and sweet and gorgeous. It was a shame I didn't got to read a little bit more about how he was feeling at the end of the book, how he was coping with his issues and his lost.
The whole events of the book happens in 5 day. I did felt some things where a little bit rushed, like the end, but overall things where really good. I would have loved to read a little bit more about Andrea after homecoming and Andrea and Luke's relationship though.
I really recommend this book to everyone looking for a sweet, funny YA story.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't think I would like this book very much, only because I'm more of a historical fiction type of girl. But I decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did! I loved how the characters were so different. They each represented the different types of your "basic high schoolers" and I liked that! What I really loved about it was that it was so relatable. Reading this book was almost like reading my own diary (especially all the awkward moments). One thing that really stood out to me was when Andrea, the main character, writes this in her journal:
"In fact, maybe the problem is that I don’t have enough faith in myself, or You either, Lord.
Nugget of Truth: Proverbs 2:5-6 You will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom."
And then there's Luke Ryan! I'd love to meet a guy half as great as he is. He's like a modern day Prince Charming! All I have left to say is, you can have Mr. Darcy, I want Luke Ryan!

For anyone that's been following me for any length of time, knows that I'm pretty picky when it comes to books...And to e-books! As a matter of fact, I'm not a big fan of e-books....But this book pleasantly surprised me! This YA/Contemporary/Christian book is about a girl named Andrea. Right now, her life isn't exactly going as planned and she's super stressed out. In the midst of her chaotic life, she's reading through a 5 Day Challenge and she's not sure whether or not it's working for her! Going through this spiritual and emotional journey with Andrea was like riding a crazy (good) rollercoaster full of surprises and tests. I don't have anything wrong to say about it!Seriously guys, you must check out this book!

I absolutely fell in love with Andrea. She reminds me so much of me. I was just like her when I was in school and even still now in some aspects. This book was an easy read and one that I think any young girl would love. I mean, I'm 25 and I really enjoyed it and so what does that say ;) I was so wrapped up in the story that I was able to sit down and read it in one sitting. I think this book and possibly future books have a great chance of becoming big and greatly loved by girls of all ages. The message it presents is very real and inspirational....Stormi

This was a fun little read. I blasted through it in a few hours and it held my attention all the way through. I liked the author's style of writing and related to the main character's neuroses. I really enjoyed Andrea's inner dialogue.
I would recommend this book more for the teenage readers as it was pretty predictable for someone like me with a little more distance between my current age and the world of highschool, but that said, within the first few pages I was immediately swept right back to that time in my life and I did enjoy the ride.
This would make a great summer vacation read. It trucks along pretty fluidly.
I am curious to read more from Cindy Green.

"Andrea and the five day challenge" by Cindy K.Green is a must read for all young adult readers. The author really lets you feel like you are right there by your characters side and feel what they feel and get emotional with them as their problems and experiences unfold. And also adding Andrea doing the 5 day challenge while going through all of that emotional turmoil really completed the book. The protagonist, Andrea, helped by the A-Company will steal your hearts as they did mine. I highly recommend this book to anybody who needs a great read.

I think what I enjoyed most about Andrea and the 5-Day Challenge is that she reminds me of me when I was a teen—quirky but hopeful. Andrea’s life is a roller coaster, overwhelming at times—but she paves her way through challenges and doubts by leaning on her friends, her faith and a wonderful young man who sweeps into her life. With humor and heart, Cindy K Green puts right in the middle of Andrea’s world, which is a treat. I love finding great YA books like this one that are geared toward Christians. Can’t wait for what comes next at Aubrey Christian Academy.

perfect YA beach read for summer, Cindy Green still has her touch as an author to weave character, plot, and message with heart. sweet story. great new series for young readers. high school setting, longing for things that are, things that could be only to discover what truly matters.

I loved this YA book told in Andrea's point of view. I can relate as I grew up this way also. This is my first read by this author and I found it amazing. I highly recommend this book to teens. I was given this book for an honest review.

This was a delightful YA contemporary book. Andrea's wishy-washy angst and the close bond with her friends was like traveling back to high school. It's so nice to see YA Christian fiction.

Andrea is starting that complicated phase of adolescence in which one already has some definitions of what wants for life and begins to reject others. She is now god-fearing, extremely obedient to her parents, and loyal to her friends. But her friend Amy is urging her to invite rookie Luke to Homecoming banquet at the Christian school where she studies and her parents do not want her to get involved with any boy, just devote herself to her piano studies and recital.
Luke is a true Prince Charming and a saint because he does everything to please Andrea and uses a thousand subterfuges to stay close to her but the girl runs away from him and ignores him at various times, which made me very angry and at some points of reading bored . Even coming from the trauma of parental divorce and suffering from his father's pressure, he proves to be more mature than his age and I fell in love with him.
The basis of the story is fantastic, I love books that use biblical passages and positive messages, but the writer exaggerated in creating 200 pages of a girl only running away from a cute-handsome-perfect boy. I think she could have give more dynamic by showing situations with Andrea's friend and even putting in more Bible messages. She missed the chance to make a 6/5 star book.
I really enjoyed the accounts of Andrea's diaries of challenges where she always ends with a biblical passage. I'm going to look for more of this author's books, because I believe that she should gradually would mature her writing and have many chances to write more fun stories like this one.

I didn't realise this was "Christian" fiction when I requested it at NetGalley, but it wasn't too OTT in that regard which was nice. Although I kind of missed what Andrea's five day challenge actually WAS because I pretty much skimmed over her letters to god, oops. But yeah it wasn't overly religious, just a couple of mentions of bible study etc... and then she and Luke "read the bible" after homecoming which I'm wondering is that a weird new euphemism or did they legit read the bible?
Anyway, I did like this enough but it felt terribly long and my interest started to wane... and I also didn't like Andrea as a main character - I honestly don't see why she couldn't have just told Luke straight away "look, my parents are super strict and won't let me date" instead of making up wishy-washy excuses which then in turn made him feel really bad.
Also I feel like "my parents won't let me go to homecoming/prom" could be an entire genre of American high school novels! As an Aussie I find it all a bit fascinating... and don't quite get it either... makes me wonder if American parents in real life are all a bunch of meanies too, because homecoming sounds like kind of a big deal school event that a kid should be banned from only in extreme circumstances as a super punishment? Not just "oh you have that piano recital to concentrate on"...
And let me talk about that - it really felt like Andrea's parents were forcing her to become a concert pianist, and that their dreams of her going to Julliard aren't really her dreams.
I probably wouldn't read any more in this series, but then again I might.

This is a YA Christian fiction. Andrea Jamison is almost 17 years old, a piano protegee and very sheltered. When she begins experiencing normal teenage emotions she freaks out.
From the daily life I see of teens and tweens, her behavior is more on a middle school level than high school.
It is a clean early romance that doesn't over preach, but little reminders are thrown in to let the listener know.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Leonor A Woodworth's voice was a little mature for this book, in my opinion.

I really like how this book showed christianity. I have a hard time actually going to God for my 'small's problems, even though it is encouraged. This book had Andrea praying/journaling to God about her problems. Even boy problems. The reason I didn't give this book five stars is because, I wish there would have been a little plot resolve. Along with the fact that the parent pressure wasn't a bigger part of the story. I felt like that was one of the key plots, but the author didn't focus on it much, and it was hardly resolved in the end in my preference.

i read this book to fulfil the goal read a book with pop, sugar, or challenge in the title. i'm not sure what is with me and christian fiction. i'm not drawn too it. i should be. my faith is the most important thing in my life. right next to my family, but i just find the characters to be shallow, the circumstances contrived. the whole thing had a sunday school feel to it. that shouldn't be a bad thing, but it just kindof bores me. still a good bathtub read.

I went into this knowing nothing about this author or much about the book itself when I checked it out through Overdrive. However I really ended up enjoying this book. I liked the cast of characters and how they interacted. I also liked the fact that the author gave the characters some depth and back story! Will be looking for more of these books 📚

March 18, 2023DNF about 2/3 through. The characters aren’t interesting. The only thing that has happened is that she likes a boy and feels bad about it. I’m confused why she doesn’t want to talk to her best friend and not convinced she actually likes piano. And I simply can’t stand the switching from past to present tense over and over again when it’s supposed to be past tense.

Fast-paced and Entertaining
When Andrea promises to complete a 5-day bible study and journal, she isn’t sure if she will be successful or how it will affect her life. But as the week wears on, she faces a number of seemingly insurmountable challenges, most of them concerning school and her crush on new guy Luke Ryan, not to mention Luke’s crush on her. Then there’s the piano recital and the potential to be scouted for Julliard. To make matters worse, mean girl Stephanie is also interested in Luke. Will Andrea survive the week, let alone see her 5-day challenge through to the end?
Cindy K. Green’s Andrea and the 5-Day Challenge is a quick and entertaining read, one which I finished over the course of 4 days. The story is fast-paced and the characters are believable. Poor Andrea is stuck feeling like such a hopeless failure as she tries to please everyone around her: her parents, whose only dream is to see her be a successful pianist, her friends who want her to let loose and have fun with Luke, she neglects to please herself. Rather than embrace a chaste relationship with Luke, she spurns him several times, but by the end of her 5-day challenge, she learns how to communicate and negotiate and that, if she’s simply honest with the people in her life, there is a way to make everyone, including herself, happy.
Though I’ll admit I was a bit wary of the religious aspect of this text, Green manages to work in the importance of prayer and God in one’s life without hitting the reader over the head with it. The Bible passages are short and relevant to what’s happening in Andrea’s life. In addition, Andrea uses the passages she chooses on each day of the challenge to find solace in her life and to become a better person, which is kind of cool. Young girls will be able to identify with Andrea’s search for her identity, her soul, and for a way to have it all.

This is a delightful YA novel, the first I have read by Cindy K Green, and I am definitely impressed! Now I realize I'm somewhat past my teen years, but if I were a teen I would love this book. Oh, might as well admit it--I'm not that young but I still loved it.
Andrea Jamison is the typical awkward-feeling teen girl. Sixteen going fast on seventeen, she's pretty sure she's the ugliest girl in school, not to mention a dweeb of the most awfully boring life imaginable. She's not in the popular set--well, some of her friends are, but still. One of the four A's (Andrea, Amy, Angie, and Alisha) since the fourth grade, she was the most backward.
Yet Amy thought she, Andrea the Dork, should ask the most popular guy in the school, Luke Ryan, to Homecoming. Sure. Like if she ever dared to do that he wouldn't turn her down in a split second. Yes, they were friends, but no way would Luke think of her that way.
Besides, her parents didn't want her to date until she was eighteen. They wanted her to focus on the piano. The big recital is Saturday, the same day as Homecoming. Her parents believe she has a huge chance to go to one of the big musical schools, like Julliard, and representatives of a high school with a musical focus (there was that word again) would be there.
So you see, no way could she go with Luke. Not even if he asked her three times. Really.

As Andrea tells her story from a teen girl's perspective- everyone in the world is more smart, pretty, funny, . A new boy comes to the school and actually finds Andrea all those things she could not see in herself. Her friends keep assuring her that Luke really is interested in her. Realistic scenarios play out with skirting the rules and interaction with her parents who are against her dating until she is 18, and want her to focus on getting into Julliard. As soon as she starts her 5 day Bible challenge, it seems like everything is working against her. I would have liked to see more integration of the 5 day challenge as it was part of the title, but other than that, this was an enjoyable book. I was given a copy of this book for my honest review.
