Alien Warriors #2

Commander's Slave

Rate this book
After the destruction of the peace treaty between Earth and the invading Kall, First Daughter of the United States Betsy Carson is convicted for crimes she did not commit in an act of political revenge. Sentenced to a lifetime of slavery on the Kall homeworld, she expects the rest of her days to be a constant struggle for survival, and when she finds herself naked on the auction block, staring into the eyes of a disgusting Kall who’s made the opening bid, she prays for anything but the misery and despair of being his. Fortunately, he’s outbid by a gentle, older man, who brings her to his mountain home as a gift for his brother, a fierce Kall warrior who loathes humans and blames them for the deaths of his wife and sons in the war with Earth. Her hopes to be left alone by her new master are dashed when he orders her to sleep in his bed, and she soon discovers disobedience will earn her a firm, bare-bottom spanking from the strong warrior.

Commander Edek enjoys disciplining the spirited Betsy, who grows more eager to submit to his dominance and obey his demands. And he finds owning a petite human slave has other benefits as well. Her silken red hair, sparkling blue eyes, and soft curves entice him to forget the past, and her sweet presence calms the storm of grief raging in his heart. But his new world is shattered when he arrives home one day to find her missing, and Edek’s skills as a Kall warrior are put to the ultimate test…

Oh man....

I did not like Betsy. I didn't like her from the first book, and it just got worse in this one. She was a 27 yo woman, the daughter of the President, and she acted like a petulant child. In the first book it said she was a party girl, who selfishly decided she couldn't stand to marry a Kall warrior, so she ran away. Betsy, was so selfish and narcissistic, she didn't care that her actions jeopardized the peace treaty and potentially the deaths of millions for the WHOLE WORLD.

She whined about how she was so scared she couldn't bring herself to marry a Kall, and that she couldn't believe nobody, including her father, took up for her to get her out of the punishment she brought upon herself. She kept crying about her dad abandoning her and not helping her get softer treatment, but what did she expect? He had to go along with the decision to keep the peace treaty for the whole world!!!

In the first book, Fiona took Betsy's place and married Merokk who ended up being a good loving man. After she's caught, Betsy finds out about how happy Fiona is and says she wishes she had just done that to begin with. Fiona took Betsy's place to protect her mother, just one person. Betsy couldn't bring herself to do the same thing to protect all the humans on earth. I was blown away by her self-centeredness and belief that she was a victim somehow.

Betsy never once really apologized, had true remorse, or took responsibility for putting herself above all the humans on earth. She never even acted like she understood the true potential ramifications of her actions. To me, Betsy never redeemed herself, instead her constant self-centered thoughts just made me angrier. I couldn't relate to her, and she made me not even want to finish this. The only good thing about this was Edek.

Edek was the bright spot in this story. It was due to his good heart and character that he was able to let go of his hatred and resentment to fall in love with her. He forgave human's for what happened to his family and opened his heart to Betsy. He treated her much better than she deserved, that's for sure.

My rating stems from forcing my way through a whole book, reading about a character I couldn't stand and made me angry. This author has many other books I've really enjoyed, and I look forward to Layla's story next.

Even though this is an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is one of those soppy little romances, the writing style reminding me much the same as a regency romance. Betsy runs away from an arranged marriage on earth to a krall warrior. When found she is sentenced to life as a slave on the Kralls home planet. There she is brought by a friendly Krall, as a gift for his brother.

In Surrender, Alien Warriors Book 1, Betsy Carson, the daughter of POTUS, was supposed to marry a Kall warrior, a member of an alien race who conquered Earth. But when she ran off, another woman had to step in and fulfill her duty. Now in Commander’s Slave, Alien Warriors 2, Betsy has to pay the piper. Angry because she weaseled, a Kall court convicts her on trumped up charges, she is transported to the Kall planet, and she is auctioned off as a slave.

I think Commander’s Slave is Sue Lyndon’s best sci-fi romance so far. The attention to world-building and setting enriched the story. The likable characters engaged me, the pacing moved quickly, the author used active voice in her writing (yay!), and the action scenes were dramatic. I also found the caring that Edek (the hero) had for Betsy to be touching.

On a side note, Commander’s Slave has the tone of an age play story. Although Betsy is 26, her adoration for Edek felt childlike and his coddling behavior toward her seemed “Daddy-like.” Not a complaint, just an observation.

All in all, an engaging, fast-paced read.

I also got this ebook with KU.

This is a very ADULT book with some dark sections in the beginning. The darkest part for me was how Betsy's father did absolutely nothing to stop her false conviction and subsequent deportation from 🌎Earth.

In book 1 of the Kall Alien Warriors series we get a glimpse of Betsy, the US president's daughter who ran away rather than uphold the peace treaty between the Earth and the alien Kalls. She put the entire Earth at risk by her selfish behavior, so what little we knew was not particularly good. When she is captured, she is "sentenced to a lifetime of slavery on the Kall homeworld". As a slave, she will be sold to the highest bidder and used or misused by her new master. She's bought by Draken to save her from being purchased by a cruel Kall and to "gift" her to his brother Edak. Edak's entire family was killed in an attach by humans and he hates them. This book is about redemption for both Betsy and Edak. They have chemistry they both try to deny, there are some surprises along the way, and some steamy fun. The book is fast paced and a page turner from start to finish.

Betsy is the daughter of the President of the United Sates. In order to avoid a prearranged marriage with a Kall Warrior, she ran away. Now that she has been captured, what will her life be like? Technically, she can be sentenced to death or a lifetime of slavery. Fortunately for her, a lifetime of slavery is better than death. Once she arrives on the Kall planet, she is bought by a gentle older man for his brother, Edek, who hates humans. Will Edek be able to accept Betsy as his slave? Will he punish and abuse her for the pain he has had to live with due to humans? Will Betsy’s calm and gentle spirit cause Edek to find solace through her?

This is a lovely story of two souls immersed in pain finding a way to survive.

This is a really enjoyable story about a Drakon buying a human slave for his brother. I get the feeling Drakon has this intuition of knowing and doing what's best for his brother Edek. He bought Betsy as a slave for Edek and, in doing that, saved Betsy from an evil alien and probably death. Betsy is frightened of Edek at first. Edek hates humans because they killed his wife and sons but his heart opens up for Betsy. Their feeling for each other grow quickly and Edek finds himself fighting for a life and marriage with Betsy.

The 11th hour crisis felt a bit unnecessary and so shortly after another crisis, made the story feel a bit scattered. Other than that it’s a thoroughly enjoyable read. The romance builds nicely and while there is some angst, it doesn’t wallow in it. The slave to lover storyline, which could have been problematic, was handled well in my opinion. The sex scenes and spanking were hot and the affection added to them.

A dark sci-fi romance
First daughter Betsy Carson is sentenced to lifelong slavery on the Kall home world. Upon arrival, she is purchased as a gift for Commander Edek who hates humans. The more time the spend together he more their preconceived notions are challenged... I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.

A great story. I enjoyed reading this story. It was so nice to know what happened to Betsy. Her story is very different from Fiona's story. I liked how different the stories were and they even took place on different planets. A fun read. I am looking forward to the next story.

The story was just okay. It would have turned out better, if the male alien held on to his anger towards humans. Also if he would have treated her a little rougher, it would have worked.

Good

Good, but not great. I don’t mind a little submissiveness, but…spankings constantly don’t seem to enjoyable to me. Still like the author tho.

My Review:
This book was not what I am used to reading but I am glad I did get the opportunity to read it.It is a Dystopian novel. This story was good, the plot was strong and the characters were well developed and very likable.
Betsy has been sentenced to life in slavery by an alien court for breaking a peace treaty between the United States and the Kall. Betsey is sold on the auction bock and luckily is bought by a kind older man, who has bought her for his brother, Commander Edek, whose wife and twin boys were killed when the US attacked the krall planet. At first Betsy resents the Commander, but he makes her realize that she will do as she is told or will be punished. After being spanked several times both of their feelings change towards each other and they fall in love. Betsey has come to realize the Commander is a true Alpha Male, and he expects her to listen or suffer the consequences. Betsey finds herself looking forward to being spanked every night when he gets home. They fall in love and he wants to marry her even though she is considered a slave. A series of events happen where Betsey is kidnapped by a Kall who tried to buy her at the auction, but lost to Commander Edek's brother, so this man decided to steal her and have his way with her anyway. Lukily his people look out for him and he goes to get his woman back and kills the man who did this to his slave.
There is light bdsm and spanking scenes in this story but they are done tastefully and add to the overall story. I look forward to reading more by this author and I give this book a 5 Star rating!

A marvellous second book in this splendid series, totally captivating
Betsy has been caught and then tried on earth for a false accusation as it cannot be known that the original Betsy Carson the President of the USA’s daughter had never married the proud and well respected Kall warrior but had in fact absconded and a look-a-like had taken her place.
Betsy is sentenced to spend the rest of her life as a slave on the Kall’s home planet where she is to be sold to the highest bidder, her life will be one of servitude and punishment under her new Master who will be able to use her for whatever he wants until the day she takes her last breath.
Draken had purchased the human female on the auction block to save her from the other Kall who he knew would have cruelly treated her, as he was not able to actually own a slave, he purchased her and put her under his brother’s name knowing Edak would not be able to turn down his gift without causing great dis-respect to his older brother.
Edak hated humans after they had been the cause of his wife and twin sons death and the terrible injuries his brother had received in the explosions and whilst trying to save them, he had not enemy might think twice prior to attacking their great army ought on earth but now was responsible for the training of over five hundred warriors on their home planet to ensure any.
As Edak and Betsy spend time together he relises that his slave is hiding her identity and also why she has been arrested and sentenced to a life as a slave, the feelings between them has grown and he realises that he has feelings for her and Betsy knows that she has found her true home with Edak and his brother who has become a firm and loyal caring friend.
This is a truly wonderful read there is lots of action and a great twist in the story however, I do not wish to spoil the story so will say no more. I am looking very much to the next book in this series, there are always great characters, a great plot and lots of wonderful human on alien action….

You get the feeling Betsy wasn't really a full person before she ran away from this political marriage. She was always watched, always criticized, and had only one personal connection in her entire life. She doesn't have time to get any since of self-hood before she goes through one traumatic episode after another: seeing countless episodes of horrific violence, abandoning everything she's ever known and going into hiding, nearly freezing to death, living in the refugee camps - and that's before she's even caught.

I always have a soft spot of characters dealing with trauma, since I'm one of them myself. Betsy's fear could be felt in the pit of my stomach, her disappointments felt like my own, and her loneliness felt like second nature. She clings to the first decent individual she encounters, and thanks to him, starts to find some semblance of life where she was supposed to face only misery. The emotions are felt strongly, even the little disappointments that she shrugs off leave a mark.

Edek has known a lot of violence, love, and loss. His older brother is all he has left, and he feels isolated. But humans are small and find ways into the slightest of cracks in an alien heart. And his brother Draken is truly a delight to read. He inherently sees worth in those society oppresses, and sees redemption in his violent angry brother. Seriously, I want to wrap him up and take him home with me and give him cookies.

And the ending is beautiful, as Draken prepares to save even more ladies!

First off I do not normally like futuristic books but I was asked to try something out of my comfort zone. This book was awesome!

This takes place in Earth 2070. Humans and Aliens do not get along. Betsy was charged with a crime that she didn't commit but her father let her be sold as a slave on a totally different planet!

Betsy is a very fiesty and used to the ways on Earth. Being sold into slavery and to have to call someone Master and do as told without talking back or taking any kind of action that would be considered bad coming from a slave. So she has a little bit of a problem learning her place.

Her Master is Edek. She was bought as a present by his older brother. Edek HATES humans and is not pleased with the gift. He is a KALL Commander and takes that very seriously. He needs his slave to obey him to the letter or actions will be taken.

The relationship between Edek and Betsy had me laughing from the beginning. Both trying to get to know each other but not in the normal way at first. But Edek and Betsy both learn just because you are from different planets doesn't mean things can't change and turn for the better. The sex scenes are so hot. A little spanking all in the right places makes for some very HOT SEX!!

This author is very talented and has my attention with her books! Her characters are lovable and have such a way with each other that makes me feel like I know them.

I didn’t read the first book in this series, Surrender, but I don’t think it was necessary. Enough of the back story was explained, without an over saturation, that I didn’t feel as though I had missed anything. Betsy Carson avoided a marriage with one of the alien Kall, and as punishment, she was to be sold into slavery. Luckily, her purchaser was a kind man, who had actually purchased her for his brother.

Commander Edek is a hot Alpha alien, with a tragic past, and a hatred towards Earthlings, as they caused the death of his wife and sons. However, he is intrigued by Betsy, and seems to get great pleasure in correcting her behavior (and by that, I mean spanking her!).

Here’s a relationship that seems doomed from the start, Betsy, a proud American turned into a slave, and Edek a Kall Commander with a grudge. But, it’s quickly evident that their attraction for one another makes those hurdles seem a little smaller. With an action packed ending, this book has a lot to offer, and was a very enjoyable read.

I would definitely recommend this book to the Alien lovers out there (where can I order one?), those who love to read troubled love stories, and of course, those searching for the perfect HAE.

“Commander’s Slave: A Dark Sci-Fi Romance” is the second book in the Kall Alien Warriors series and is a breathtaking and amazing story. This story begins where Surrender ends and we discover the fate of the First Daughter Betsy Carson. The negotiated Peace Treaty said she had to marry a Kall Warrior - well, if you read book 1, we know she ran away, was found and has been sentenced to a life on the Kall homeworld, as a slave. We develop feelings for Betsy because she has lived a life of privilege and now she will be sold to a Huge Warrior as his slave, all because she didn’t wish to be given away. Fortunately, at the auction, she was purchased by a kindly, wise, Kall
Citizen who purchased her for his brother, Edek. He is a distinguished Kall warrior who loathes humans since he lost his wife and children in the first attack. What surprises him, is his attraction to the little human.
Sue Lyndon has written another suspenseful, keep us guessing book, lots of love and steamy HOT sexy scenes ! The characters are described in depth and the storyline is filled with insights into relationships, self-understanding and learning that one can grow and obtain a better relationship then ever imagined. Now, can Kall and Betsy accept these revelations? One needs to read this book and find out! The story is compelling and a page turner.

I tried to read this story before reading the first one in the series "Surrender". Don't do it! I was totally lost. I bought the first one and read it and then went back to this one and am glad I did. Book One concerned what happened when Betsy Carson ran away from her upcoming arranged marriage with a Kall warrior--another woman is found and takes Betsy's place. This Book Two is about Betsy's life after she is caught and covers her conviction in a Kall court and sentencing to a life of slavery. She is bought by a man who gifts her to his brother, Edek. Although Edek, a Kall warrior, hates humans for the loss of his wife and twin sons in their initial attack on the Kall home world, he cannot help but be attracted to Betsy. This book contains light BDSM. I really liked the Kall and hope the author will write some more books featuring Kall warriors. It would also be nice to see if Betsy and Fiona ever meet. While I did not like this book as much as the first one, it was still satisfying and enjoyable. Recommended for all those enjoying alien romance type stories.

We continue with Betsy being charged and on trial for breaking the treaty with the Kall. She was to be Merokk’s bride but ended up running. Even being the President’s daughter wasn’t going to save her. She had made a terrible mistake and now her fate is far worse. She is to be auctioned and become a slave to a Kall warrior. Edek has no interest in the human’s. They took what he cherished and killed it. He has nothing but hate for them. When his brother gifts him Betsy, he doesn’t know what to do with her.
I felt sorry for her. She was running scared and when she got caught things just spiraled out of control. She was alone in the world. Things seem to get worse with Edek being her master but things aren’t always what they appear. Edek is hurting from his lose. It takes time to recover from loss. I have read this before and the story is more detailed now. You still feel for Betsy and and times weep for her. Edek is an alien of honor but there are things about the Kall customs that need changing. And his brother Draken is such a sweet male. He has a heart of gold.

I enjoyed this one more than the first. Betsy is dreading the worst, as she is sold as a slave on the planet Kall. But through a twist of fate, a peaceful businessman (Draken) purchases her as a gift for his brother (Edek). Draken is counting on Kall traditions and societal rules to keep Betsy safe even though his brother hates the humans that caused the death of his wife and sons.

I really loved the way Draken, Edek, and Betsy interacted with each other. Draken adding his calm wisdom to cool his hot headed brother. Betsy's caring and determined demeaner to make the best of her situation. Edek's quick tempered, no-nonsense command personality that slowly eases and allows him to see Betsy as a person and not as a hated enemy. The danger added at the end had me worried but thankfully the author gave us a happy ending (I would love to see what becomes of the General's daughters).

An overall entertaining and absorbing read. Sue Lyndon/Sue Mercury is my go to author when I want a quick and satisfying read.

Having loved "Surrender (Alien Warriors)"- the previous book to this one, I was sure I would also love "Commander's Slave" and Sue did not disappoint. When Betsy Carson ran, making Fiona Lockhart take her place in marrying a Kall warrior, I wanted to know what happened to the real Besty. I so thoroughly enjoyed the dramatic story of Betsy's experience after she was found, the story that makes up this book. The scene on the slave auction block had me covering my mouth to keep my excited gasps in. I adored Lanzo and Edek for their vastly different personalities. Lanzo's caring for both Betsy and Edek was sweet and I loved how he plotted to fix things. As the relationship spun and burned between Edek and Besty, I started to ponder the happily-ever-after that I was sure Sue had put at the end of her book. I loved it. Loved the drama followed by the exquisite happiness. I so hope some day that Sue writes mores delicious spanking romance crossed with intriguing science fiction.

This is the book where we get to know Betsy. In the first book, we got the impression that Betsy was selfish. That she left without any good reasons. Well, we learn that she had good reasons, she was scared. Scared to marry a Kall warrior and her father did nothing for her. She left to save herself. And she pays for that decision when she leaves on foot to get to a settlement. When they capture her, she is treated terribly and she fears for her life. But she is sent to the homeworld to be a slave. She is bought by Edek's brother because he wants to save her. Edek and Betsy eventually have their HEA.

Let me say that I read the original book and this one is even better. I wanted more detail and the author gave it to us. I quickly got into the story and had to finish. And I had to pull out my kleenex as well! I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

I am loving this new series. I love this author as well, she never disappoints with her books. Humans were illegally mining on the Kall planet, and caused an explosion that killed a lot of their people. The Kall took this for war and invaded Earth. It only took six months for the leaders all over the world to surrender. As part of the peace treaty, female leader and daughters of the leaders are to marry Kall warriors. After witnessing their brutality Betsy runs away. She is caught eventually and is to be a slave as punishment. Of course she is badly abused and is sold at an auction. She finally lucks out when she is bought by a nice Kall for his brother. Edek hates humans since his wife and sons were killed in the explosion and he can't believe that his brother bought a human slave for him. What will happen to Betsy now?

Betsey's scared . She's been sentenced to be a slave for life because she didn't want to be married to a Kall warrior, so she ran. Everything she knows about the Kall makes her believe that they are brutal and cruel. So when she's bought to be the slave of the commander whose wife was killed by humans, she's terrified that her life is over. Edek hates humans, so when his brother gifts him with this little female human slave he wants nothing to do with her. Humans are weak and not trustworthy. Somewhere along the way they begin to communicate and begin to understand that they both have to overcome the preconceptions that they have learned and maybe both of them can heal from the losses they have endured and find the in each other that they have a future. Loved it, loved the characters, the world building, the storyline. Great action and adventure. Couldn't put it down!

Kall homeworld

I like that the story continued onto the Kall homeworld.
Betsy gets sent to Kall as a slave for her punishment. She is bought by a sweetheart named Draken. He bought her for his brother in order to save her even though he doesn't believe in slavery.
Edek hates humans because his wife and sons died because of them. So things aren't great when these two meet.
I have to say that I really didn't care for Betsy. In my opinion she was very self centered. She blamed her father for a lot of stuff that she herself was the reason they happened. She should also realize the position she placed him in with her antics.
Edek grew and changed as the story progressed. I loved Draken he was so kind and considerate and i am glad to see that he will be getting his happy ever after too.

This was such a pleasure to read, but honestly my heart went out to Betsy for all she had been though. This is a book that you can let your emotions take over, with sadness for Betsy, anger at her father.
But the one saving grace was that even though she was auctioned as a slave, the man who brought her was an upright citizen named Draken, a kall who was known by many. He brought her for his brother, Commander Edek whose wife and sons had been killed .
Although Edek thought he hated all humans, he really couldnt hate Betsy, she was his. But he will punish her backside if she lies to him. Trust is something which is hard for Betsy but Trust she does in Edek, together they will come to love and get past their hurts.

A lovely story indeed, well worth one click
