Yolani Ian has always been one of God's favorites when it came to her professional endeavors, but the same cannot be said when it comes to love. It seems like every man she runs across is either threatened by her success, jealous of it, or cannot deal with such a hectic schedule, but whatever their reasoning, they all seem to resort to the same being unfaithful. Coupled with the fact that she is battling an undiagnosed and debilitating condition that most men find burdensome, the songstress begins to believe that true love just isn't in the cards for her. Having had enough of being mistreated, Yolani vows to focus on her career and her career only until a man can prove that not only can he understand her real life, but that he is mature enough not to fall for any woman with a pretty face and an abundance of assets to match. So when she meets a well-known playboy, famous for his one-night stands, and baby mama drama, Yolani finds it comical and slightly infuriating that he is hell-bent on making her his. What she soon realizes though, is that everything isn't always what it appears to be, including him, but with an overbearing family, fanbase, and jealous contemporaries, Yolani will learn just how difficult obtaining real love is.
Cemone Compton, the cocky, aggressive, and promiscuous NBA player for the Los Angeles Bulldogs is living life to the fullest. Or at least he was until his bed-hopping ways left him with two baby mamas and a set of ghetto twins to match. And his violent behavior, on and off the court, garnered him and his team much negative publicity. Always one to have and get whatever he wants, when he sets his eyes on the most beautiful and talented woman he is sure he's ever seen, he decides to simply make her his. However, what the handsome ball player doesn't realize is that this woman is far different from what he is used to. Unable to dangle his fame, money, cockiness, and playboy persona in her face to make her fall for him, Cemone is nonplussed, becoming obsessed with convincing the woman he truly believes is for him, to take him seriously. Her being a difficult woman to break down accompanied by his uncontrollable temper and conniving baby mamas, has Cemone at a loss.
But one thing this talented shooting guard hates more than anything is losing, especially when it's the woman of his dreams, so he sets out to do whatever and whenever just to have her, allowing nothing to stand in his way.
Find out in this story filled with healing love, shocking reveals, betrayal, and jealousy, just what a man in a deep, all-consuming love will do.
I'm unsure how I feel about this book. It was a cool read; I doubt I'll remember it in December, but that's how most of my reads have been this year. We have Yolani and Cemone a psycho. Cemone has had his eye on Yolani, a superstar, but he's a notorious f boy. But what the Compton boys want, they get. Yolani said either come correctly or don't come at all. Despite the fact that this was a new experience for Cemone, he was prepared to work hard. Despite the criticism from others, they take their time and begin to develop a connection. They are both able to grow together and simply make things work in this relationship. I wasn’t a fan of Avery or Yolani dad I just think they were doing too much. Did this book need 558 pages? No. Did I like that twist towards the end? No. I do think as the Crenshaw Kings series continue it just doesn’t give me the same feel as book 1-3.
Yesssss lawd Cemone. He earned second spot in my Compton brother's ranking. I just knew I wasn't going to like him. I was pleasantly surprised. He met his match😂😂😂😂👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Feelings For You reminded me of that Drake and 21 Savage song “Spin Bout U” . I don’t think Cemone was expecting to fall for Yolani the way he did, but boy did he!! He was a simp behind her but in the best way. I was not ready because of the way his character was in previous books. I loved Yolani’s character because she knew her worth. Overall, this was another good addition to the series. Avery and the BMs showed their tails the entire book! Whew lord!😩
Cemone is the pycho we knew him to be in previous books 😅
Cemone has never been one to think women are the prize. He lets it be known that he is the prize! That is until he meets Yolani and she is just as famous, beautiful, and has her own! Cemone can't handle her not giving him the time of day, but he doesn't give up, and having the Compton charm helps! While Yolani and Cemone build their bond and friendship, everyone tries to break them apart. The family situation was wild and reminded me of the female rapper from Assist by Alexandria House and her struggle with overbearing family dynamics and mismanagement. Not exactly the same but similar situations. Cemone’s story was “everything isn't always what it seems.” Cemone’s character matures so much in this book because he has to consider someone other than himself in the public eye with his actions. I loved the growth! I loved the slow build between Cemone and Yolani too because it gave you time to experience them both changing for the better! Avery is trash and good riddance! Solene and Ananda also trash. Also, Shvonne Latrice is funny as hell because all of her books give extremely unrealistic elements that just have you wondering like “What??” lmao I enjoy the extremes and the NBA Finals extreme made me chuckle. If you are not into sports you won't catch it but if so you are going to be like this Aint real lol and to be fair it is fiction so in the words of my girl Erica Lenis “live in the world the author is building!” Lol I am learning to enjoy that aspect of her writing. Overall a great addition to the series and I'm so ready for Asif’s book!!! I also want Bambi to find someone soon! Check out the content warnings at the beginning of the book and be safe reading!
I’m on the fence about how I feel about this book. The series has started to feel repetitive, with the same baby mama drama and side character issues. I want something fresh. The only books I truly enjoyed were the first and third ones—the rest were just okay, and I wasn’t a fan of books four and five. Honestly, this book could’ve been wrapped up in 300 pages or less; it dragged on and made me yawn at times. I’m really hoping the next ones have a new plot, but I’m still curious to see how the series ends.
It had no business being that long! It was getting repetitive. I enjoyed the book at the beginning though when Cemone was still trying to get with Yolani but as it went on it became a rollercoaster that I wanted to get off on, a LOT was going on, most of the stuff didn't even need to happen frfr. plot twist after plot twist. 🥲
Because the author has to be putting crack on the pages of this series to make it so good and addictive. Each book is either 4 or 5 stars, and this one was 🤌🏾 perfection.
#Hood🥷🏾 #PlayboyF♡kboiFindsLove #CC CC and the C stands for Cray/Crazy Cemone. The joy of this series is that if you have read each book by now, you've seen Cemone in the background. He always seemed funny but immature and very braggadocious. Hereeeee. Heree. He cleans it all up for Lani. She said, "Get on my level, and then maybe I might let you play," and it sparked something deep in him. This man was planning a wedding when he was simping and stalking her because she wasn't answering his calls/DMs/gifts back. He was calling her wife, not wifey, before he could get a date in real good. He was talking about babies and wedding ring design when he had to beg for a 2nd date. But even with that little bit of play by play, the book sucks you in. Cemone is a straight-up hood ass dude in the best of ways. He's a gentleman to the woman he loves and cherishes. He will put others on notice about how they respect his girl, he will put that pew pew in your face if you come out your neck over his and he was a freak freak eating the booty while licking the kitty cat from the back. He told Lani I'm not going nowhere, and unless you want me to air it out, you best not play with me.
#TopTierRomance The author always gives top-tier romance hands down. Each couple's journey feels unique to them. Each couple has their road of tribulations, but the MMC comes correct. Cemone may play ball, but he doesn't play games, and he will lay a person out. He isn't a fake pimpthugsnotnosedexthang can be him. He's a real one. The way he brought life into Yolani's body and calmed her spirit was beautiful to watch. Seeing the hothead don't give a damn persona melt away as he listens to her and allows himself the chance to change and let some things go was amazing to witness.
#SuperstarIGotMyOwnBagFMC Yolani was the perfect blend of characteristics. She had some vulnerabilities, an auto immune disorder, and powerhouse talent, but she was also sweet and down to earth. Cemone was a bona-fide f♡ckboi. So her original play was to give him a piece of his own medicine. She wasn't going to take him seriously, not date him, not have smex with him just string him along on read like he plays with other girls. Then she slipped up and fell in love with his growth, progress, and down-home vibes he gave. Watching them was so affirming and joyful.
“Women are such warriors you know, and it takes the right man to come in, remove that armor, and wear it for us. That’s what he did for you."
Yessss 🫰🏾🫰🏾🫰🏾
Extras: 🥰There were some twists, but the trash took itself out eventually, and what's done in the dark will come to light. 🥰Miscommunication will never be a trope in this series. 🥰Avery, Avery Avery, smh. Let's just say he was foul for that. 🥰Don't let the Babymomma/OW drama put you off. Cemone isn't a playboy in this one, and his bird brain BMs don't get entertained, but they are villains who like to stir the pot just cuz.
4.5⭐️ because I thought the book could’ve been shorter. Cemone (don’t give AF about anything but his Yolani & his family) was everythinggggggggg! I loved his character development so much. To go from running through so many females to falling in love was truly enjoyable to read. That man was a goner over Yolani lol
Yolani’s story was ok. I wanted to get more from her illness. That situation with her “brother” Avery was ughhhhhh as well as Cemone’s situation with his “two baby mothers” which turned out to be a shit show! 😡
Cemone is in my fav Top 3 Compton/ St. Thomas brothers 😍! Also added him to the fav eater list 😋
I’m sure I’m in the minority but I didn’t like Cemone much. He reminded me of another one of Shvonne Latrice’s MMC’s, Ocean Pendrell 🙄 a whole professional athlete doing all that. I wish he dealt with his baby mamas differently. They were foul and deserved humiliation and other consequences, but all that was necessary??? It really ain’t have to get that crazy.
When I was first introduced to adult Cemone, I couldn't stand him because of his arrogance. However, he grew on me during this book with the way he loved and protected Yolani.
Yolani challenged him, which he needed. I'm glad it worked out in their favor against all odds. Lequay remains my top favorite Compton, but Cemone has definitely become a close second with the way he made me smile.
Solene and Ananda were pure 🚮.Avery got exactly what he deserved. Yolani’s dad pmo but it was nice to finally see him come around.
Cemone has probably been one of my least favourite of the Compton brothers because of how juvenile and misogynistic he’s always come across while never acknowledging that he’s no better than the groupies he trolls. Enter in Yolani, a megastar singer, who isn’t charmed by him and tells him about himself so that he grows up and gains some sense.
I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would- and while Cemone wasn’t quite salvaged to me as a character, I liked how committed he was to standing up for Yolani in every circumstance. I did not particularly care for the resolution with his kids and didn’t think that things had to end as extremely as they did but I suppose it makes sense given the characterization of the Compton brothers and Cemone particularly being with the sh*ts. Was it super realistic that no one looked at him with suspicion, no, was the resolution incredibly problematic, yes, but was this a super interesting page turner that made me wish the next book was already out, YES! Looking forward to the last 3 books in this series.
So heading into this I wasn’t a fan of Cemone because of his arrogance. But he grew on me during this book because of the way he loved & protected Yolani. I liked them together. I do think the back and forth in the beginning dragged on a bit much for me but I get why it needed to happen that way. Definitely didn’t see one of the major plot twists coming so I enjoyed the drama that added to the story. As always I enjoy the relationships between all of the brothers & their wives and the way they all embrace the newest lady into their group.
The BMs & Avery got what they deserved. I needed Yolani’s dad to get a little something though even if just a nice strong cuss out because while I get he wanted to protect his kid he was a little too vocal about her love life IMO for her to be a grown woman.
I really enjoyed this book so much. I love the way Cemone loved on Yolani. He was all in and stopped at nothing to prove his love. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the way Asif was still referred to as a stepbrother, which I get, because technically he is, but they are brothers. Prime is their father. I was also disappointed at the distance after the results I can't say I blame him, but it still put a bad taste in my mouth. This book was such a roller coaster and it was written exceptionally well. I can't wait to read about Asif.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed in this book. Especially after the other books in the Crenshaw Kings were a bit more exciting and had all kinds of plot twists. Honestly, I felt like most of the chapters could have been eliminated, because all they were about is Cemone saying how pretty Yolani was and she stating how fine Cemone was as they had endless sex.
Just when I thought Lequay was gone be my only Compton husband here comes Cemone proving me different with his rude ass… but nevertheless that’s Bae and I love him…Chile I was so happy when Yolani got on board I was like sis you play too many games with a real one…The BMs and Weird ninjas got what they hands dealt and I’m not mad… Yall know i love this family down and can’t wait for the next book
Idc idc idc! I’m a fan of Cemone. He got his ish together real fast and never let up. Yolanda held out as long as she could, and longer than I think I could have. I really enjoyed them!
It’s safe to say Cemone is my least favorite brother. The story wasn’t bad…it just seemed a lot like one of his brothers (can’t remember who)- but crazy/obsessive ex, somewhat of a slow burn, eventually engaged/married, FMC gets pregnant…etc.
I was hoping for something a little different, and less repetitive… starting Asif’s story soon. I’m hoping it’s better.
this was too good! i started skimming a lil ngl bc i thought yolani’s pov were dragging a bit and it was getting a bit long, and i didnt think it needed all 558 pages. but i enjoyed it alot but cemone is not beating lequay or khari for me.
This one started off a little shaky and I almost didn’t finish. Cemone’s character was outrageously cocky and arrogant and I don’t remember him being that way in previous books. However after continuing for another chapter or two, his character took a change for the better. I don’t know if the author did this intentionally or unintentionally to show growth but the change kept me reading. In the beginning of the series I was excited to know we would get a book for each of the brothers but as we get further along, the books aren’t quite hitting the same. I don’t even know if I’m interested in the next two in the series
Cemone really thought Yolani would be just another notch but she flipped the script and let him know come correct or don’t come at all. And Cemone came hard and never took his foot off the gas. Solene and Ananda are straight gutter. Avery got exactly what was coming to him. And it was nice to see Yolani’s dad finally come around. As always, another good book from the Crenshaw series. I’m looking forward to seeing all these brothers and Prime act a whole fool and a half in Banks book.
In order… Prime, Lequay, Bashar, Cemone, Khari, Shakur (As much as I want to put Shakur before Khari I can’t…he gets major points taking away from being with Teyaira)
Cemone Cemone Cemone, boy was I not expecting any of this 😮💨🥹👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💯 I love a man that stand on business about his woman!!! I think I speak for many ppl when I say, Cemone’s cocky, smart mouth, womanizing, rude and ignorant tail self, annoyed us in the previous books. Like this man was literally not liked since he was a jit 😂😂😂
On a serious note, I love the character development when it came to how he stood on everything he said he would be for Yolani, and I love that my girl was not going for anything less! She said what she said and he came correct every time.
So we’re just going to act like everyone involved in that paternity scandal dropping like flies isn’t suspicious??? 🫣
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I just wanted to say that I tried listening to the audiobook version of this book however, I could not get into it so I switched to the E-book. I love that Yolani gave Cemone a hard time in the beginning. Avery the fake brother really had all of audacity in the world. Cemone fake baby mamas really pissed me off throughout this book and I am glad that got what they deserved at the end of the book. Yolani and Cemone took me on a ride but I am happy they got the love story. Overall one of my to reads of the year so far.
I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. It was longer but not really noticeable! love how authentic the author wrote Cemone! He was matter of fact which made him hilarious throughout the book. His baby mamas were the most delusional people I’ve ever read about lol! Just delu delu after ONE time —- is wild! Avery is another one that deserves all bad things to come to him! I love how Yolani stood on business when it came to her business, standards, and her man! Now Shvonne come to the front please— can the editor do a control F next time and take out the word guffawed —- we get it. They laughed hard, but we don’t ever need to see that word again, it’s almost as bad as the use of “the latter” in the first book of the series! Despite that small annoyance, the book was good and took me one day to complete.
Baby one thing i love is character development. When i first was introduced to adult Cemone i couldnt stand him, but after reading feelings for you i really grew to love him. My boy was really the definition on standing on business. Love him and Lani down badddd!!!!!
I loved Yolani and Cemone man!!!! She really had him working and there was no promise that anything would happen. I also liked that Cemone didn’t necessarily change but the adjustments he made for his woman might make him my favorite. I can’t say for sure because I have a feeling about Asif. We shall see.
These books keep getting better and better. I love how Yolani and Cemone were on the same playing field and the love triangle was not in this book. Cemone is exactly who he thinks he is. Yolanda knew how to tame the beast
I don't mind a man with no filter, so I enjoy Cemone. Yolani got him right together. I love how tender he was for her. And chile, Shvonne is gonna write a delusional, annoying baby mama. SMH
