Connection, the second thriller in the Protopian Silo 42 series, begins four years after the end of book one Deception. Life underground continues but change is afoot. Ahotay, the Silo Chief and Native American grandson of the first Silo 42 Head of IT, has requested as his dying wish, that the many life-enhancing lessons learned by the Silo 42 residents be shared with other silos. This noble yet dangerous request carries great risk if discovered by Silo 1. It is up to Stewart the courageous shadow to Chief Ahotay, and his “bad-ass” senior electrical engineer Vanessa to figure out how to comply with Ahoytay's final wishes without endangering the lives of the ten-thousand souls who call Silo 42 home.
But not everyone thinks making contact is a good idea. A saboteur within Silo 42 is determined to stop what she sees as a reckless act that could easily end in disaster. During their first mission to deliver a special offering to another silo, she comes up with a plan with devastating consequences.
Is Ahotay’s altruistic dying wish worth the risk to Silo 42’s survival? What will happen if Silo 42’s life-saving mission is detected by Silo 1? Will sabotage change the future of Silo 42 and its inhabitants forever? Order Silo 42: Connection to find out!

I am a fan of the Silo universe and read pretty much whatever I can find. This story maintains the qualify and feel of the original and I recommend it to any other Silo fans out there.
👉Silo 42: Connection by Zev Paiss is an intense and thought-provoking sequel that expands on the world introduced in Silo 42. Set four years after the events of the first book, the story plunges readers back into the underground life of Silo 42, where survival is a delicate balance of order, secrecy, and hard-earned wisdom. But change is inevitable, and with change comes conflict. 🥰📚🤩
👉At the heart of this gripping narrative is Ahotay, the dying Silo Chief, whose final wish shakes the very foundation of their hidden world—he wants the knowledge and lessons of their community to be shared with other silos. This mission falls to Stewart, the new Silo Chief, and his wife, Vanessa, who must navigate the fine line between outreach and endangering the ten-thousand people who call Silo 42 home. While Stewart believes in fulfilling Ahotay’s wish, not everyone agrees, and resistance grows from within, setting the stage for a battle between progress and preservation. 😍📚😍
👉What makes Silo 42: Connection stand out is its masterful balance of suspense and philosophical depth. The narrative unfolds with gripping tension as Stewart and Vanessa wrestle with the risks of reaching out, while factions within the silo fight to maintain their fragile peace. Paiss skillfully weaves moments of high-stakes action with introspective scenes that explore the evolving culture of the silo, making the world feel rich and immersive. The pacing fluctuates between fast-moving sequences and reflective moments, allowing the weight of the characters’ decisions to sink in. 📚🤩
👉As the stakes rise, so does the intensity, culminating in an intellectually and emotionally charged conclusion that will leave readers eagerly awaiting the next installment. If you love dystopian fiction filled with moral dilemmas, complex characters, and a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, Silo 42: Connection is a must-read! 🔥
Silo 42: Connection is a continuing series based on Hugh Howey’s series Wool. In the previous book Silo 42: Deception, the reader is given the backdrop of Silo 42: Connection. After a nuclear explosion, the remnants of humanity have been placed in fifty underground silos, one for each state. These silos are controlled by Silo 1 and a governing law known as the Pact. Silo 42 leaders Senior Chief Ahotay Lathrop, his shadow Stewart Knight, and his wife, chief engineer Vanessa Villanova realize after a hundred years of living by the Pact its laws and rules do not work towards a healthy, self-sustaining silo. Four of the existing silos have already been eliminated or failed. Together, they initiated a new way of governing based upon the teaching of the Iroquois Nation. As they become increasingly independent from the Pact and Silo 1 control, Donald Keen, the head of Silo 1, decides the Pact dictates Silo 42 must be destroyed. In Silo 42: Connection, after the silo's survival, the Silo Chief of Silo 42, Ahotay Lathrop, makes a dangerous but, in his eyes, warranted decision. His plan, with the help of his shadow and the future Senior Chief Stewart Knight and his wife, Vanessa Villanova, will change not just the future of Silo 42 but also the future of humanity. Will Senior Chief's plan work, or will it cause Silo 42 to be discovered to still exist by Silo 1? Will everyone in Silo 42 agree with his plan, or will they sabotage it? The book leaves these questions unanswered. The fate of Silo 42 or the other silos is unknown. It is a continuing series with different books to be written and released. The Wool series is one of my favorite series of books. The setting of underground silos with a population of thousands of people governed by a non-relenting Pact was different and unique. Silo 42: Connection continues this story forward. I highly recommend this book as a worthwhile read and look forward to the next book in the series.
Zev Paiss's Silo 42: Connection continues the spin-off series, offering a more hopeful, "protopian" twist on Hugh Howey's original dystopian universe. Set four years after the first book, the story follows the inhabitants of the thriving Silo 42 as they attempt to honor their late leader's dying wish: to share their knowledge with the other silos. Incoming Silo Chief Stewart Knight and engineer Vanessa Villanova must navigate this perilous mission without alerting the controlling Silo 1, risking disaster if they fail. Reviews praise the book for its layered narrative, which blends action and intrigue, and its exploration of leadership and community. While some readers noted minor editorial flaws, fans of the Wool universe will appreciate this engaging expansion that offers a fresh and positive take on the series
I love these books showing human ingenuity and compassion. I believe a good life even in a silo would be possible if everyone worked together and innovation was encouaged. I hope the third in this beautiful trilogy is a 1000 pages because I enjoy it so very much and won't want it to end.
Not happy that the story is unfinished and left us hanging at the most crucial part of the story. Now waiting until June… I would have read the next book even without leaving me on a cliff hanger. But this is the way of the world now. Just disappointed because the other Silo series didn’t leave us hanging.
Drop in quality from first book. As much as I wanted to like this 2nd installment, I found that it was half baked. The deception story line was not flushed out and seemed to come out of nowhere. I also wish there were more time to delve in to the repercussions within Silo 42 of contacting other silos. Tons of potential to be a good story, but each plot line needed more time.
The Silo 42 books seem to be written for the 12-14 year old audience, not adults looking for the suspense, twists, and details of Howey's books. The Silo 42 plot and dialogue are simple and predictable, If you are looking for something like Wool and Dust, Silo 42 is not it.
I found this a very interesting addition to the Silo series. I especially liked how many of the native American values were incorporated into the story. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Excellent further silo sci-fi adventure Really enjoyed these first two and eagerly await the next installment Thanks you and I hope you are planning on writing more
