A man has been shot and left for dead on Echo Mountain, and Search and Rescue K-9 handler Breanna McBride wants answers. With no memory, all the injured man can recall is that his first name is Scott, and that someone wants him silenced. Scott knows better than to depend on strangers, yet he finds himself falling for his captivating protector. And although Breanna won't rest until she helps him piece together the rest of his past, she vows to ignore the attraction between them. But as they close in on the truth, she becomes the killer's next target. Now the pursuers will stop at nothing to ensure the pair is six feet under by Christmas.
Accused of being an eternal optimist, I was born and raised in the Midwest and migrated to the Pacific Northwest a few years ago. I began spinning tales of intrigue and adventure when I was in grade school, and wrote my first book when I was eleven — a thriller that ended with a mysterious phone call the reader never heard!
My college sweetheart and I have been married for over 20 years and are blessed with two wonderful sons, a bossy kitty and feisty Golden Retriever.
When not dreaming up inspirational tales, I’m usually out hiking in the Cascade Mountains, enjoying a fine cup of tea with friends, or hiding out in a movie theatre. I love to hear from readers! hopewhiteauthor@gmail.com
This is a Suspense Romance, and this is the second book in the Echo Mountain. I really enjoyed the characters in this book. The where really developed and had their own personally, and they where easy to follow. I really enjoyed reading this book. The suspense part of this book was good, but I guessed one of the twists of this book before it was reveal. There was a few twist and turns I did not guess. I liked the characters and the suspense part of this book. I really love the ending.
The tables are turned in this fast-action suspense as the heroine races to the rescue of the hero. It's a risky twist for a romance but White does a fantastic job of showing Scott's vulnerability and confusion without taking away from his masculinity. And Bree has this impossible-to-explain desire to protect Scott which drives her family crazy. The role reversal slowly rights itself as the story progresses. A page-turning nail-biter with a sprinkling of Christmas. A perfect read for the holiday season.
"Scott’s struggle to trust will elicit sympathy. The plot is well developed, and the secondary characters are well integrated" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars)

This is the second book in the Echo Mountain series I have read. I like the premise of the search and rescue team as well as the setting in the Echo Mountain Resort. Bree has been through some bad times with an ex-boyfriend. It is great to see her getting her confidence back as she and her S&R dog, Fiona, forge ahead with a new life. Scott, one of her S&R victims, definitely has amnesia and difficulty trusting people. But he connects with Bree and she reaches out to help him. I like the way their relationship developed through helping Scott figure out his identity. The plot is well developed with plenty of twists, turns, and unexpected surprises as well as including some interesting secondary characters.
I would have liked to have seen a bit stronger faith thread as this is included in the Love Inspired Suspense division as well as a little more Christmas feel; but overall, a good read. I would recommend this book to those who like clean, easy to read suspense.

I’m sorry!! I hate to say anything mean about an authors work but wow… I read this and I really did hate it. I let my friend borrow it and she hated it. Bree is such an annoying stupid main character, Scott is weirdly sexist and annoying. Loved the dog, that was about it.. Poor Aiden getting dragged into all these scenarios when the poor guy has PTSD. So many grammar errors, I’m not an English person by any means but come on. There was a sentence in the book that made me cringe so hard one of the side side characters was described as having “little girl experience” is it just me or is that soooo creepy. Also the bathroom scene? How is knowing his deodorant a look into his soul?? Lol okay. The ending was underwhelming and the suspense just wasn’t good. By the end of the book I found looking at the dirt on my shoes was more interesting than this book. All of this being said… I’m reading the rest of the series lol. Misery loves company?
Breanna is hiding in the park for SAR dog training when she sees a wounded man being chased by men with guns. She gets him to safety, but when he comes to, he can't remember anything except his name, Scott. Then men keep trying to hurt him. Bree does her best to help Scott figure out what is happening and gets drawn into the danger. The story is full of twists and turns as well as a ton of action.
The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with an action and character oriented storyline that has some kisses but no steam. The characters are vibrant and engaging. The Christian ideals are woven into the and and make it more interesting. Read Safe Harbor by Hope White first and then this series in order. Enjoy!
I almost ranked it less than average. I didn't find the story intriguing. About the only good thing I can say is at least the author had the sense to only have the characters agree to be dating at the end--they weren't engaged or married. Considering they'd only met a short time before and for most of the story Scott had no memory--I would consider it a real stretch if they'd done anything more than agree to explore their attraction for each other.
This book was terrible. For Bree’s family supposedly being such strong Christians, they sure judge Scott a lot. Scott having amnesia but yet they expect Scott to have all the answers to their questions. Everyone expect Bree pretty much hated Scott throughout the whole book til the end. In the end they treated Scott like a king because he saved the day. It was ridiculous. Bree was the only one that stood by his side through everything.

I loved Scott and Bree's instant connection. The fact that they worked with the police rather than going off on their own was a refreshing change from a lot of stories like this one. Scott mirroring Bree's former vulnerability made the speed of their relationship make sense. I liked the amnesia angle, especially since little glimpses would bring information back to Scott.
I really enjoyed this story. It was interesting, and kept me guessing what was happening. I really appreciated Bree's faith. Here was Scott trying to figure out who he was, and Bree was a life line. Very satisfying conclusion.
Enjoyed the suspense and mystery of this book! Cute romance, although at times I felt the romance could use a bit more depth. But overall was a good read!
I really liked this book. How Bree learned to be more confident , less afraid and able to face her fears. How Scott was able to lean on someone, trust and make friends. Heartwarming, romantic and suspenseful. A great read.
I always enjoy a romantic suspense without vulgar language and explicit sex. I enjoyed this read - it actually didn't have a lot of scenes that make you say "how dumb was that".
