Pedro was the Chief Analytics and AI Officer at True Corporation, a prominent telecommunications company in Thailand. There, he oversaw analytics and AI initiatives for the digital segment of the business, leading a unit that utilized telecommunications data to develop corporate solutions in advertising, credit scoring, and consumer intelligence. Additionally, he serves as a visiting lecturer in AI for business at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.
Before his tenure at True Corporation, Pedro was Vice President of Analytics at Axiata, a digital and telecommunications conglomerate operating in six Asian markets. Previously, he worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, focusing on telecommunications and financial services.
Pedro has a strong interest in entrepreneurship and served as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Antler, a venture capital studio in Singapore. He is also an official member and contributor to the Forbes Technology Council and has been a speaker at two TEDx events. From the deepest parts of the past and into the glorious future!
I am a very pro robot and Ai person in life. To me, it is the progression of the future to create the machines that will continue us farther into the next era of civilization. This book here is filled to the brim with all sorts of deep and well researched knowledge on the dawn of machines. Going back to ancient history and finding all the previous incarnations and building up to where we are now and the future to come. I really have learned so much more in the computer, robot, and Ai journey.
There are tons of great information to take in here, that is never biased and just gives a great resource for anyone who wants to know more on the subject. There is a wide variety of topics covered from robots in the media of storytelling, political conquests, military technology, historical periods, health care, robot rights, and preparing us all for the Jetsons like future. In an easy to digest, yet filled to the brim like an encyclopedia of robo knowledge. I made notes along the way and saved certain pages throughout to come back to. This is definitely a book that I'll be coming back to for multiple reads. I'm looking even more towards the future than ever!

If you are one of those who finds the recent AI development a bit scary like I do, you will find it a very well written and insightful book that explains the current potential use cases, limitation , different players in the field and most importantly, the challenges it poses to humanity and how we can guide it to our benefits.
The book also brings a lot of history and patterns from the past that provides bases if speculation in the future.

Comprehensive and a bit frightening
This is a comprehensive review of AI and its impact in humanity from its earliest conception in ancient times (China, India, etc), to its contemporary presence (like that of Deep Blue defeating Kasparov), its current form in our browsers and cellphones, and its possible ascendance into sentience and self-awareness in the future (will AI become God?). People who consider The Terminator should probably not read this book; I myself found it more than a little disturbing that we have allowed ourselves to be influenced by AI as much as we have (and we haven't even hit the Singularity). And yet, it seems that the further development of AI to this level is inevitable, and since they say information is the best weapon of all, it seems that everyone (especially the younger generations) should read this book or some variation thereof to be better prepared for the future. In more practical terms, I was impressed by the level of research that went into the writing of this book, as evidenced by the plentiful references at the back. It is also well - written and would rival any fictional techno-thriller in terms of interest and suspense.
This is a comprehensive review of AI and its impact in humanity from its earliest conception in ancient times (China, India, etc), to its contemporary presence (like that of Deep Blue defeating Kasparov), its current form in our browsers and cellphones, and its possible ascendance into sentience and self-awareness in the future (will AI become God?). People who consider The Terminator should probably not read this book; I myself found it more than a little disturbing that we have allowed ourselves to be influenced by AI as much as we have (and we haven't even hit the Singularity). And yet, it seems that the further development of AI to this level is inevitable, and since they say information is the best weapon of all, it seems that everyone (especially the younger generations) should read this book or some variation thereof to be better prepared for the future. In more practical terms, I was impressed by the level of research that went into the writing of this book, as evidenced by the plentiful references at the back. It is also well - written and would rival any fictional techno-thriller in terms of interest and suspense.

Mucho contenido, muy valioso y entretenido según los intereses de cada uno (ya que abarca muchas áreas). Irónicamente, algunas partes se sentías como escritas por IA generativa por su tono repetitivo y referenciado una y otra vez ciertos conceptos explícitamente... pero puede que sea sólo el estilo del autor.
Empieza prometedor, se pone algo denso en el durante y acaba abriéndote totalmente la cabeza. Tiene mucho de ciencia ficción y hasta terror... así que muy completo. Afortunadamente, el autor mantiene un tono bastante optimista hacia el final, lo cual nos puede dar apenas un poco más de tranquilidad.

an incredibly thorough review of the state of AI
Its weakness is its focus on interlacing, the conjunction of AI and human intelligence. I doubt it. Same with its focus on quantum computing, a great idea with many obstacles. He fails to talk about neuromorphic computing and cognitive computing. Those are my preferences for future AGI but who knows?
