Devil's work
Shawn Crowley heads out to check a lead on the necromancer Clive. While investigating he stops at a secluded farm. The farmer is an old man on his death bed. He asks Shawn to do him a final kindness. "Bury me in the graveyard south of here." Seeing no issue in this he does so. While he is burying the man a group of grave robbers enter the graveyard. They break into a locked crypt. One of the men catches Shawn off guard and knocks him out cold. When he wakes there is a massive horned demon staring him in the face. Shawn learns the crypt was actually an entrance to Hell. One that the demon Alferious uses quite often. Shawn learns that the demon is the one who forged his ax. The Cleaver.
The thieves stole many things from the demon. And while he is upset. They also stole the hammer the demon uses tom forge the fabled Stygian steel weapons. The hammer is not meant to be in the mortal world. It exudes a strong demonic aura. If not returned it will warp the world around it. And if that's not bad enough it will summon demons. Now Shawn has to track the hammer down before its power flings the world into chaos.
