Long drawn out novel. Too many red herrings and loose ends. Only reason I kept reading was I love the main character Lucien and knowing he was as frustrated as me, the reader, buried under too many questions and no answers I waited for him to untangle it all and see the light and what he would do with Darrow. That too was a disappointing conclusion me and for Lucien too.
I usually really enjoy this author, but this particular book made me feel like a dog chasing its tail. The story kept going round and round as to how and why people were involved in a scam, and no real answers came until the very, very end. It was a bit frustrating. Maybe that was the author's point, but if it was, it was wasted on me.
This was an intense, extremely complex, and intriguing story that will hook you from beginning to end. It's a fantastic series that I would love to see more of. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
