My girlfriend and I are experimenting with using cookbooks to create healthy meals. We found this one at a dollar store, and decided to buy it because why not? It only cost a dollar.
It's definitely worth a dollar, but I wouldn't spend more than a few on it. The recipes here are interesting, but many aren't very simple. In fact, many are expensive.
I also did some digging and found out that the author, Ian Smith is a self promoting quack, who peddles weight loss books like they are candy, and appears on a daytime TV show called The Doctors.
In other words, he's just a rung above Doctor Oz on the credibility scale.
I picked this up from the library as a joke, but the recipes aren't trash. I can't really find where the diet stuff is. All the recipes seem to not skimp on flavors or ingredients that most 'diet' books shy away from. It's a bit big for my taste, but it was a great thing to get from the library.
Easy, healthy and flavorful recipes. The book is organized into morning, midday and evening recipes. Also, great sections on snacks and healthy smoothies.
Although I've read through the whole book, I've only made 2 recipes so far. To be honest I made 2 of the smoothies, and they were both excellent and surprisingly filling.
The recipes all seem very doable, both in ease of preparation and availability of ingredients. I will update this review once I have made some of the recipes.
