M. B. Zucker has been interested in storytelling for as long as he can remember. He devoted himself to historical fiction at fifteen and earned his B.A. at Occidental College and his J.D. at Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He lives in Virginia with his family. He is the author of three other novels. Among his honors is the Best Fictional Biography Award at the 2023 BookFest.

Few people in the world know more about Dwight Eisenhower than author Michael Zucker. With The Eisenhower Chronicles, Zucker takes us on a trip through Eisenhower’s life, focusing on the last thirty years of Eisenhower’s life. The attention to detail is superb as we follow Ike up the military ladder to the position of Supreme Allied Commander in Europe during WWII. We read about his contemporaries as well as his subordinates during the war and later during his presidency, as Zucker builds a narrative where we learn what motivated Eisenhower during his generalship and his time as President. This book is strongly recommended for anyone that loves history, the study of politics, or just a good read.

One of my favorite non-fiction books was Jean Edward Smith's Eisenhower in War and Peace. Zucker's novel serves as a perfect complement to that great book as it brings to life many of the same stories and makes it more personal and real. Zucker cites Smith among many other Eisenhower biographers as well as the Eisenhower family itself as sources for his book. This lends authenticity to every interaction, especially the dialogues, which are the best part of this read. Finally, Zucker is very effective at driving home the point that "Ike's" greatest accomplishment may well have been what did NOT happen on his watch (use of nukes).

I absolutely loved this book. It’s one of those stories that pulls you in and keeps you thinking about it even after you’ve put it down.

I really enjoyed the way M. B. Zucker brings Eisenhower and the world around him to life. The historical detail is fascinating, but the story never feels dry or overly academic. I felt completely immersed in the time period and came away with an even greater appreciation for Eisenhower and the enormous challenges he faced.

A truly enjoyable and memorable read. Highly recommended!

I enjoyed the narration of Cory Cunningham

This book shows us the challenges and the decisions that Eisenhower make in wartime and after to keep the peace. We learn about his sense of duty to America. You feel that you are witnessing history . The conversations that took place between Ike and Bradley discussing Omaha Beach on D-Day, making you feel as if you were in the room with them.

This is by far the best historical fiction novel I have ever read. I felt like I was right next to Ike throughout the entire story. Zucker does a great job going in depth without dragging on with the boring stuff like other historical authors. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in American history, especially presidential history.
