Snow Dates #3

North Pole Dancer

Rate this book
Ben

Getting dumped and having nowhere to live isn’t the best way to start my second year at Boston College. Thankfully, my best friend Kaleb’s couch is available, though his efforts to help me over my break-up by finding me a top are a bit over the top. Things start to look up when I land a job at The Stable, a gay bar. I'm not keen on hookups, but there’s this one guy – we keep bumping into each other – and I’d take whatever he wanted to give me, even if it’s just one night.

Richard

Life is busy between the financial firm I manage and the gym that I co-own. I don’t really have time for more than one night with anyone, and after losing my husband eleven years ago, I wouldn’t want more than that anyway. Until Ben.

On the surface, he’s physical perfection and has every hormone in my body begging for release. But there’s something else, something vulnerable and fragile, and it ignites a tiny part of my heart that I thought was lost forever.

North Pole Dancer is gay, rom-com, age gap, holiday novella with cameos from Snowballing. It is recommended to read the Snow Dates series in order. This story features public s*x and voyeurism, a remote vibrator, spanking, so many jockstraps and a HFN. Snow Dates is an annual kink-positive, holiday series about men falling in love with other men.

Finn Dixon made a childhood dream come true and has worked in the zoological field since 2006. He’s taken care of everything from alligators to zebras, but his favorites will always be rhinos. Thus far, his MM romances have focused on contemporary stories that include jocks (and jockstraps), but fantasy, paranormal, and historical have been observed in the crystal ball of Finn’s future.

In his spare time, he likes watching gay films and shows with happy endings (giggity), playing Disney Dreamlight Valley, re-watching Jurassic Park and Clue, and traveling when he can afford it.

And yes, he likes jocks, but he promises all his books won’t be about them.

Or will they?

Very sweet, very smutty, very Finn Dixon. I love this little novella series, and while nothing will ever beat Snowballing for me, this one was almost a tie. Richard and Ben were presh and I loved the whole thing.

4.5/5. Always a good time and a perfect little slice of HEA to go with the real-feel and spicy bits.

Loved this so much I devoured it in one sitting!

In true Finn Dixon style, Ben and Richard are sweet, cute and hot a f*ck. whilst this story is mostly, extremely well written smut, there is a beautiful story there too, along with loveable side characters.

Holiday Cheer Meter: 2/5
(Where 1 is as Christmassy as 'Die Hard' and 5 is more like 'Elf')

1st person, past tense, dual PoV
Benjamin Elio Giordano (19), student
Richard Hawk (49), financial advisor / co-owner of Dick's gym

I know it's February! It's Finn's fault I'm reading a holiday story outside of my usual Nov/Dec Christmas reading since this book just released and I don't want to wait nine months to read it.

In all fairness it's pretty light on the festive feelings so it can be enjoyed anytime. While it's billed as book three of the Snow Dates series (after Snowballing and Jack Frosting), it does stand alone well, you would just be missing a small amount of context of a few secondary characters, namely the delightful coincidence that Eli from the first book is Ben's uncle and Richard is his boss!!! Oooooh!!!

Following a break-up Ben's bestie encourages him to get back in the saddle and under a hottie pronto. Cue Dick, stage left, who has only done one night stands since the death of his husband eleven years prior. Their one night was so much more than either of them expected and I giggled like a maniac at the lengths Ben went through to ensure the possibility of a second encounter. I loved how these two clicked and went with it.

This was a smutty, kinky, amusing, good time. While I was enthralled by the chemistry and jockstrap melting sexy fun times, what makes it a memorable read is the humour, which begins before we even get to the story in the text of the disclaimer. I proceeded to highlight half the book of amusing quotes and sentiments.

The secondary characters were all great additions to the story. I loved Richard's sister, Holly, and Ben's best friend, Kaleb, and even his co-worker at The Stable, fellow bartender Drake. In fact I'm obsessed with the teasing glimpses of the Kaleb-Drake relationship we caught throughout the story. And remember that awful ex-, he gets his nose rubbed in what he's missing out on so good. It's delicious!

This steers clear of the deep feelings and self reflection/character growth that could make it a five star read for me. Still, there's something so much fun about a lighthearted read that doesn't take itself too seriously, like a classic rom-com with steam and wacky fun times.

I was given an ARC (after I read the book in KU) and voluntarily wrote an honest review.

I love the genuine warmth of Finn's writing style, the way he finds the tiniest bit of hope and positivity, even in the darkest moments of his character's life experience, spinning them into an uplifting tale for " There is something good in everything bad that happens". And of course the story has a generous sprinkle of humor, spice, entertaining banter, kinky exploration and two men who are willing to take a risk for a fresh start. I loved Richard and Ben and felt deeply their struggles and doubts before and after the unorthodox beginning of what was supposed to be a single night of fun. Richard never thought he will find someone to love after he lost his husband years ago, Ben was blindsided by his cheating ex. Two hurting men, came up with an interesting solution separately - One night to unwind! But it turned something entirely different. The transition to something deeper and meaningful was natural and flawless and made the HEA for the couple candy sweet without being too much. It was perfect balance between all the feelings and a light plot line.

This was a fun read written in true Finn style. It is quirky, sassy, flirty and full of humour, heart and steam. Ben is about to start his second year of college and is about to move in with his boyfriend when he gets dumped by his cheating boyfriend. He moves in with his best friend who is keen for Ben to get back on the dating scene. At the gym they meet co-owner Richard and there is an attraction between them but nothing happens between them then. Since losing his husband Richard has only had one night stands. Ben gets a job at a kinky gay bar and Richard comes in one night and that's the start of their fling. What initially starts as a one night stand turns into more nights and their connection grows stronger quickly despite their age gap. This was a fun read that I really enjoyed reading.

I love Ben and Richard's story, I love that they're both open to trying everything with each other and the connection they clearly have. The just between them comments about Christmas presents had me chuckling.
The scene where he ran Ben a bath with candles etc was beautiful and so caring, it's Richard's way.of showing how much Ben means to him. Their chemistry is off the charts bland while the sex scenes are steamy and explorative the deeper bond between them is so clear in the words they use and the way they care for each other in small ways, there's no misunderstanding that they belong only to each other even when others are invited to join their scenes.

Richard is a widower of about 10 years, he's hooked up during that time but never wanted anything more, until he meets Ben at his gym and then again at the bar where Ben starts working, they can't stop thinking about each other.
There's an age gap, Ben has only been with 1 other person, there's kinky sex but overall there's a love story that will keep you reading until the very last page!

Another fantastic story from Finn, his writing has me waiting for his next couple!

This is a sweet and very steamy age gap story between Richard (a gym owner + widower) and Ben (college student/bar worker). Ben and Richard meet at Richard's gym after an unpleasant encounter with a different gym goer. Kaleb, Ben's friend, encourages Ben to go out to a local gay bar where Ben encounters Richard again. It is very sweet to see them start to fall for one another, especially since Richard has had high walls up since his husband's death. Even early on, Richard is clearly charmed by Ben and demonstrates caring and kindness towards Ben. Ben is adorable, flirty, and a ball of energy - so eager to please! Even with a 30yr age gap, their spicy index is super high!!! I loved this story and the side characters were also great, especially Kaleb, but also Drake and Holly. This is such an enjoyable, smutty read!

And age-gap romance with an older gym owner/business man who keeps running into the young (I think under 21) gym member who now works at a gay bar (not usually as a dancer which you would presume by the title). There is lots of public sex and I know this is my own bias coming through, but when a 45 year old man is more or less leading a 20 year old into public sex at a bar, I always wonder how much agency the younger guy has even though he appears to be on board. That's very ... I don't know. I know there are many 20 year olds who know exactly what they are doing but it always seemed to me to be a bit like it was Richard's idea and that Ben just went with it in a haze of lust. *shrug* Again, this is my hang-up, not anything to do with the book necessarily. Not all books for all people.

Scorching hot.

This series gets impossibly better with each book and that is saying A LOT.

In this spicy installment we find 19 year old Ben (Eli from book 1’s nephew) falling into bed with 49 year old Richard. When I say sparks FLY I mean it. Chemistry jumping off the page, so much top tier spice and still, somehow, a sweet Christmas romance all swirled together.

Amazing characters, both new and past favs. Our favorite gay club, The Stable, makes a prominent return, and the daddy of all age gaps makes this a very naughty Christmas romance.

If you’re looking for a steamy, spice filled, Christmas romance with a surprising amount of heart? Then this one is for you.

Do you need a spicy, kinky holiday novella in your life? Maybe not, but if you're like me - you want one and once again, Finn Dixon delivers all the exhibitionist, kinky goodness you didn't know you wanted.

I love that Finn can infuse a steamy novella with good character and world building so that you only feel mildly guilty reading about Ben & Richard's age gap romps, spankings and of course the requisite jock straps (even though the story doesn't take place in Jocktober...)

If you like a story that doesn't take itself too seriously, but still gives good character and lots of steam, you'll want to grab your copy of North Pole Dancer ASAP.

Of Finn……your words are so beautiful yet filthy at the same time. How you’re able to explicitly bring your thoughts to paper and allow others to vividly reflect their perception on these magnificent characters. And I can’t forget his inclusion of enticingly bear of a man 😫, makes me sweat every single time!

This has to be the most beautiful story written by Finn. The emotional connection between Richard and Ben was incredible, and the respect shown by Ben regarding Richard’s late husband was very touching. His patience mixed with his love helped Richard finally overcome his fears of moving forward in life.

Get Ready for a non stop spicy fun ride!

Ben and Richard’s relationship was sweet and spicy and their chemistry was off the charts.
The relationship Richard has with his sister is something I wish I had with my brothers and everyone wishes they have a best friend like Kaleb in their corner. I am really hoping that we get Kaleb’s and Derek’s story in the future.

Thanks for this fun story Finn :)

My favorite snowdates couple so far! I absolutely loved Ben and Richard!

Love the exhibitionism and Richard’s caretaking that just came naturally.

They seem like such an odd pair but Ben’s confidence in what he likes was really refreshing even in is inexperience.

I love Richard’s relationship with his sister.

And I love that even though Ben was always Richard’s “type” there was something more drawing him to Ben.

Read for a kinky but sweet good time!

If you liked Finn's book, Snowballing--I did-- you will love this book! I laughed so hard in places. And swooned in others. I loved the interactions between the MCs, Richard and Ben. I also loved the spicey scenes. In fact, I thought my tablet would catch fire. Finn Dixon is a great storyteller, who writes entertaining tales of love and laughter. If you love rom coms with heat, this is a great book.

My goodness, that was smutty.

I mean, do these people have much besides chemistry and very hard dicks? I’m not entirely sure. But as “gosh we seem to be fucking a lot, should we call this. Relationship?” books go, you could do a lot worse. I’m not sure if gay bars in Boston are as sex-positive as the one in this book claims to be, and the side characters are one-dimensional. But it’s PwP, not fine literature. You’ll be okay.

After Ben got dumped by his boyfriend, he meets Richard at the gym and the attraction is mutual. This book is super steamy and hilarious. I laughed so much at their photo and text exchanges but every conversation was good. I also loved Ben's BF Kaleb and Richard's sister. It's an ode to jockstraps, exhibitionism and age gap. I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary opinion.

I love the Snow Dates series, and this might just be the best one yet! Ben and Richard were so adorable and spicy on this fun, fast-paced novella. This is the spiciest book I have read of Finn's but still had all the banter, well developed characters, and heart I expect from a Finn book. It's a great read, especially on a snowy day!

Might be challenging for some

A standalone book considered part of a series of Christmas time gay romances. Deals with topics some readers might find uncomfortable. Extreme age differences, the rougher edges MM sex. While a HEA ending occurs, it is a somewhat darker story than the the two related books.

This is a fantastically spicy, kinky, love story that made me smile the entire time I was reading it. I love how saucy Ben is and how willing Richard was to break his own rules and give Ben a chance. Highly recommend this book!

Super spicy short read, with just enough plot to give it some depth. The MCs were both very sweet and really fit together well, with many of the same (physical) interests. The age gap was big, but it definitely worked.

North Pole Dancer is the third book in the Snow Dates series and should be read in order. This is a sweet, age gap, steamy, fun, kinky holiday read about Richard and Ben. This was such a funny sweet storyline with wonderful characters, including some from past books.

There is something so compelling - so real - about Finn Dixon’s writing. The age gap between Ben and Richard is incredibly appealing, the scenes steamy and so well done that I couldn’t put it down. Funny, sweet and so, so sexy - just what I needed!
