A heavy metal horror gem.

Corrosive Ravens follows Tonya, the blossoming manager and creative inspiration for a heavier than heavy metal band deeply rooted in the black occult.

Her story is one of self-reflection and transformation as she explores her role in the three piece ensemble featuring Icarus, Niko, and their leader Sigurd. The opening scene is dynamite, kicking things off with a human sacrifice to summon the power of Zorothrax. As the story unfolds, Tonya suddenly finds herself needing to fill a role within the band itself, and tapping into the power of the Dark Goddess she is becoming with all her might. Is the Black Widow simply a role, or is it her actual being?

Once the reader is comfortable with Tonya and the Corrosive Ravens, the story introduces another group from the perspective of the fans. The reader meets Vanessa and Leslie, two teenaged girls struggling to survive without their parents, and finding solace in heavy metal. The stories of band members and fans comes together in an unexpected and intriguing way.

Tonya, Vanessa and Leslie are all fantastic lead ladies with their own personal struggles and fascinating journeys. Their characters and the story are infused with many music references that will be thoroughly enjoyed by the metal enthusiast.

The story is the perfect setup for the next book, Suck-A-Bus, which is its only heavy metal delight. I definitely need to reread it now that I have the intriguing pre-story.

If you love the dark occult and heavy metal, this one is for you.

Thank you Blood Bound Books for the beautiful print copy!

Before I started to read, I was excited to find out how everything originated. I found all the occult aspects and it being set in the 90's made this really interesting to me. I am not familiar with these genres of music, but I could still appreciate how dedicated the fans were and how much it helped most of them cope. It was fun finding little hints from their other books inside, I got excited every time I found one.
I enjoyed the descriptions of the muse and her moments with Tonya. Vanessa and Leslie's situation had me stressing out, I kept worrying for both of them, but Leslie's character had me anxious. I had several characters I enjoyed and I really appreciated how strong the female characters were. Lobo's character had me feeling unsettled every time he popped up, but I still liked his character. I found myself later in the story feeling bad for Niko and Icarus. All the characters did a good job of making me question what everybody's motivations were and it made me curious how it would impact everyone else.
Overall, I liked how much this story made me think. I thought the heavier subjects were done nicely. The grief and addiction themes stood out to me the most.

What would you give to obtain a new lease on life? For the success of your career, the support of the crowd, the escape from your current state… would you give your soul?

I enjoyed this read from the very first sentence. I knew going into it that it contained themes that excited me, I’m a huge Metal fan and I love a good demon story. I was surprised however by the extent of background we got and how complex the character backgrounds really were. This book hits so many dark and horrific topics, grief, depression, addiction, toxic relationships and abuse. It took me way deeper into the Mother’s than I thought I would get, and I really loved it. I feel so terribly bad for all of them, for all of their unique reasons, but I’m really stoked for book 3, where chaos will reign and the Mothers of Suck-U-Bus will get all the revenge they deserve.

Corrosive Ravens was an incredibly dark, depraved and demonic origin story. If you have not yet read Suck-U-Bus, you will need to before this one.

I love origin stories and was so happy when I found out there was going to be a prequel to Suck-U-Bus. Noir and Mendes did a fabulous job taking two story lines and and having them converge into a cohesive story.
Leslie and Vanessa's story gave me such anxiety for them. The way Leslie changed throughout the book was subtle and well done.
Vanessa was the most complex character. A teenager trying to graduate while also being a sister and mother. I felt proud of her that she was able to stick with her convictions.
Tonya's story made me feel angry for her, angry at her and sad for all that she's gone through.
The dark magic aspect of the story didn't overtake the actual story. It's like it was just the vehicle in which the story was delivered.
Heavy metal, dark magic, grief, addiction, toxic relationships, manipulation and organized crime this book is a full on experience that will leave you reeling.

Corrosive Ravens wasn't just a prequel, it was the epitome of full-throttle, amps-all-the-way-to-11 origin story of the Mothers of Suck-U-Bus.

And trust me… this book kicks the doors open, screams into the mic, and drags you headfirst into the chaos of heavy metal, heartbreak, and hell-touched ambition.

What I loved about this book is how it slammed two worlds together: a metal band spiraling into supernatural disaster and two sisters grieving their losses, long before they rise up to become the epic team members of Suck-U-Bus.

If you ever wondered how Suck-U-Bus came to be, this is the raw, unfiltered novel you’ve been waiting for.

It’s loud, it’s wicked, and it’s one hell of a ride from the first downbeat to the final scream.

So, make sure to grab your headphones, crank up something heavy, and dive in—because this prequel doesn’t just set the stage… it will burn it down.🎸🔥

Metal af, occult, violent, and full of drama—that’s the best way to describe Corrosive Ravens. This book drags you into a world that’s as chaotic as it is captivating, blending heavy metal energy with dark, unsettling themes. Mendes and Noir deliver a raw and unflinching story that’s not for the faint of heart, but perfect for readers who crave intensity and aren’t afraid of the shadows.
