Book: Prophecy's Child
Series: Prophecy Series - Book 2
Author: Brenda Dyer
Genre: Paranormal Romance (Vampire)
Length: Approximately 287 Pages

I'd have to say that PROPHECY'S CHILD by BRENDA DYER is the book that I've been waiting for release with the most anticipation. I couldn't wait for this book to be released and when I found out what day it was going up on Amazon, I stalked it, checking several times throughout the day for it to magically appear so I could "Buy now with 1-Click".

After reading the first book in the Prophecy Series, LOVE'S PROPHECY, and getting to know and love the characters, I couldn't wait to read Kal's story in PROPHECY'S CHILD and find out just how he fit into the Vampire Prophecy.

Katherine Colby's life was torn apart ten years ago by the abandonment of all those she held dearest to her but through it all, she was given the gift of Ike, her son. Her saving grace.

Years ago, Kal walked away without a word from the woman he loved to protect her from his world. He has never gotten over her and swore that if he ever found love again, he'd grab onto it and never let go. Life changed for everyone when fate stepped in and Katherine and Kal were reunited. Can he ever let go of the guilt of leaving her all those years ago? Can Katherine find it in her heart to forgive him? You are just going to have to read it and find out! You won't be disappointed.

Without giving any spoilers, I just want to say that there was a standout scene involving Katherine, Ike, Kal and a demon that was so exciting and so frightening, it had me hyperventilating. Ms. Dyer truly has a phenomenal way with setting scenes and character building. If PNR is not your thing but you are interested in trying it, I'd highly recommend starting with the Prophecy Series. You will be hooked.

While POPHECY'S CHILD is the second book in the Prophecy Series, this is a standalone novel. The only reason this book did not get the full 5 Stars was because there were some grammatical errors. They, however, did not slow my reading. I just couldn't put this book down.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed there is going to be a third book in this series that I can stalk.

When you see Brenda Dyer's name, hit the big red plunger, and stop everything to read her story! She is not a one hit wonder! In book two, Prophecy's Child, we fall in love with Kal.

A conscience and ten years, couldn't obliterate Kal's undeniable, forever love for Katherine. Time brings these two characters on a collision course with destiny. Where would that happen? Wal-mart, of course!

Ms. Dyer writes with depth, originality, tension, and great timing when deploying humor, the four most important elements of great story writing. The next book better be on the printing press or at least her home computer, because once you've consumed the first two books of this series, your heart and your naughty bits will be on "slow burn" until you can devour the next story. Wonder who it will be?

Just because this book wasn't as long as the first one didn't mean that I felt I was missing anything. If these vampires get any hotter I will have to stop reading about them. I can't really see myself doing that.

I got to see a little of Kal in the first book and he comes across as a romeo. I liked knowing that there was a different side to Kal and that I was wrong about him.

I can understand how mad Katherine was with Kal and that she has raised their son Ike by herself for ten years. Kal found out about Ike in the nick of time before any damage happened.

I am hoping that there will be more in this series.

Book 2 in the Prophecy series did not disappoint.
Kal met a girl 10 years prior, her name was Katherine. They feel for eachother very quickly but Kal ended things when he left while Katherine was sleeping one night. He didn’t want her living the life he was chosen to live. Katherine, was a human.

Kal is in WalMart one evening when who does he bump into but Katherine.
She’s not happy , for a few reasons, one being, her 10 year old son, Ike, he is Kal’s and no one, including Kal, knows about him.

Then we have George, he’s a slime ball demon, portraying himself as a human and Katherine’s landlord.
He wants her.

Once you start this you will not put it down. Kal and Katherine unite, their love is so special, especially with their son and Katherine holds a secret, not even she knows she has…..

This is the second book in the Prophecy series by Brenda Dyer.

I read book one, Love's Prophecy, not long ago and enjoyed it immensely. So I was really looking forward to delving into book 2 and I must say it did not disappoint!

The story centre's around the main protagonists, Katherine and Kal.
Katherine is a struggling single mum, working as a waitress and raising her now, 10 year old son Ike - whose such a sweet boy. The struggles are real and her back story is a sad one. There are past issues around overbearing religious parents, struggling with life, jobs and motherhood, and being abandoned by the love of her life Kal.

The story keeps us in the present, with Katherine's and Ike's current life issues. This brings us to the point in the book, where Kal and Katherine pump into each other again for the first time in over a decade. As expected, Katherine is defensive and angry and Kal, who never really got over losing Katherine, decides he will not lose her again.

From here the story really shifts gear. I won't put in any spoilers. There is a lot of emotional angst, carried forward from the past, and tons of emotional and sexual tension between Kal and Katherine. There are themes of forgiveness, being honest, and secret keeping to work out. Thrown in the mix is of course, Kal's deadly world, which he had kept from Katherine. All of this turns Katherine's world upside down.

Brenda has such a nice style of writing. The flow and pace keeps you interested, page after page. Her characters and their thoughts and emotions play a large part of this book, and you are able to relate and identify with their troubles and emotions, which in many parts of the book, are completely justifiable!

I also enjoyed the element of danger. This element puts Kal and Katherine's relationship in danger from forces outside and within. There are demons to hunt, and demons who are hunting them. And lastly, there is a prophecy to fulfil. All exciting and engaging points of the story in their own right!

I highly recommend this series from the two books I have read so far. I will definitely read book 3 soon!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars

I started reading this book the day after I finished Love's Prophecy, the first book in the series. I really liked Love's Prophecy, and if I'm being honest, I didn't expect to like Kal's story as well. To me, he came across sounding like a teenager in Love's Prophecy. I wasn't sure I could buy into a vampire warrior/love story with a 100+ year old vampire sounding like a kid. Well, I can't begin to tell you how wrong I was. I liked this story even more than the first. It was close to 5 stars for me, but I'm holding out to see if the next story is even better...and it seriously has the potential to be.

This story picks up where Love's Prophecy ended. Just like the first story, this one jumps in and takes off. There's action, suspense, and chemistry. I enjoyed the story of Kal and Katherine more than Mel and Breeana, and I think it may have been because they had more to bind them together than Mel and Breeana. There was a history already there, so it was less instant love. I bought Kal's reason for leaving Katherine, and really liked that Katherine understood it as well, even if she did have to work to forgive him and move on. I liked that Kal wasn't a fool the second time around. He knew what he lost the first time and was determined not to make the same mistake.
Again, like the first book, this one flows well and at a good pace. It keeps your attention with a good bit of action, suspense and great characters. My only regret in reading these is that the entire series isn't out. I'm too impatient!! I highly recommend this series!

So I've waited for this book for quite a while. In the first book, Love's Prophecy, we are introduced to Kal who is the fun-loving ladies' man prankster. This second book in the series, shows a deeper side of Kal that I hadn't expected.

Prophecy's Child is an emotional, character-driven read that's a second chance romance. Our hero and heroine have a shot at a happily ever after that neither thought possible.

Now, I'll admit Katherine spent a large portion of the book dealing with her emotions - feelings of distrust, abandonment, rage, and the need to protect her son. There were times I wanted her to give in and trust Kal, but I understood her reasons. He didn't have the best track record in their past, and then he left her alone to deal with all the unexpected, frightening consequences of their time together. Yep, I get her anger for sure. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have let it go. That being said, I'm a meanie, so there you go. But, I suppose time does heal all wounds. Of course, a hot groveling vampire doesn't hurt either.

And groveling he was. I really loved that about Kal. He owned up to his mistakes. While he thought his leaving Katherine was a better choice for her in the long run, he had no problem making amends and showing her that he was the hero she could count on. He wasn't too much of a stiff male that he couldn't open up and truly reveal the depth of his love for her. And it was quite endearing. That bedroom scene with the picture. *Sigh*

Yep, so I'm hooked. Overall, this is a great addition to the series. I can't wait to read the next one.

I remember when I read the first book, Love's Prophecy, I knew that Kal would be the next book. I just knew it. Then I was even happier when I realized that Kal was the next warrior to get a book.

Basically this is the story of Kal and Katherine. They had a relationship for a few months ten years ago and just as it was coming to a major turning point for them, Kal essentially disappeared. He thought he was doing the best for Katherine; however, Katherine is forced to endure a pregnancy, birth, and the first ten years of their son's life alone, wondering what had happened to Kal. Then fate somehow brings them together and they are forced to be honest with each other... all the while a really fucked up demon lusts after Katherine and threatens the safety of all three of them.

I absolutely loved this book. The best part of Brenda's characters is that though they have their faults, at no point are you annoyed with them. You know how someone romance novels have a female lead that is a pretty vile, unrealistic bitch who repeatedly tries to sabotage every effort the male lead makes? That does not happen here. Sure, Katherine is pissed off and reluctant to trust but it is fully understandable. But Kal tries so hard and it just pulls at you. You root for these two and yes. I loved it. A lot.

And now I'm eagerly awaiting the third book. Is Black next? Because it's either Black or Ace but I'm hoping for Black.

Fresh - Unique - Original

The moment I heard Brenda Dyer's second book in the Prophecy series was available to buy on Smashwords (it wasn't available on Amazon yet), I couldn't click through fast enough. Her first book, Love's Prophecy, is an outstanding, heartwarming love story that I read no less than three times and then bought the paperback. This series is unlike any vampire story I've ever read before. Filled with intrigue, humor, heat, and thrills, she's written another book to be read over and over.

Prophecy's Child grabbed me on the first page and didn't let go. It's a romance story that'll keep you up late because you can't put it down. Many characters from her first book make an appearance and heighten the unfolding drama. Her new characters will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Fantastic writing that put me right there in the book. Again, Ms. Dyer didn't disappoint with her creative mind and originality.

Authors like Ms. Dyer absolutely amaze me! I'm trying to write a book myself and I'm struggling. And I'm dealing with every day people, something I know about.

Ms. Dyer's ability to take a fantasy type of subject such as vampires and make it a real human story is just incredible! She writes a basic love story that just happens to involve the supernatural. She still does a great job of integrating the paranormal so you don't forget what you are actually reading, but she makes it human, if that makes sense. What happens with these characters could happen to anyone, really. I have the utmost respect and admiration for authors like this to write stories like that!

I read the second book first. Now I can't wait to see what the first book offers!

What a feel good story with a a little darkness

This is the second book in the series. So far Kal is my favorite. He has big heart even though it was broken. He covered that break with partying and girls but it was never enough. She was the only thing that could fix it’s well her and Ike. It was perfect!

Oh my gosh! Book two in Brenda Dyer’s amazing Prophecy series does not disappoint!
I especially love how one can enjoy book two and not have read book one. Book two enriches the world even more and (as others have said) made me want to read the first book again just to go back and experience it all once more!

It was wonderful to see Kal’s story; Katherine and he have a lot of baggage to wade through – being front and centre for their adventure was so fabulous.

GEORGE! *shivers in disgust* What an amazing character! Brenda does not hold back showing us exactly what this slim ball is all about – real grit, real hatred, real cringe that’ll have you clutching your blanket closer and clasping a strong hot drink! He adds a lot to this world and I absolutely love it.

This book is heart wrenching, heartfelt, deep, violent, bloody, SPICY and full of detail that’ll have you swooning, gasping and holding your breath to find out what happens next!

Can our Kal and Katherine get through all the hurdles life has thrown at them? Can they get past themselves!? Is love enough to trust again? A second chance vampire romance.

I’m so glad there are more books in this series!! I can’t wait to dive into book three!

Another brilliant read in the series. The build up and the introduction to the protagonists will draw you in instantly. You'll connect with them and hope for them. I was a little angry at Katherine a few times.
It's exciting, interesting and will make you not want to miss out on what happens next.
I love how the first and second book are connected and building towards the Prophecy and yet doesn't give away how the Prophecy will pan out.
If you love vampires, love and gore with spice and a bit of trepidation, this series is the one for you.
I definitely be reading the next in the series.
I would definitely recommend.
Not to much, just right on every level..
Some graphic details for those who aren't able for that..

This is the review from my blog post
I loved it. Do I need to say more? :-) Betcha you're worried that's all I'm going to say.

I am a little worried. I have my fingers crossed. PC does kinda worry me…

Well stop worrying. Let's start with - I loved Brenda's first book – Love's Prophecy. (My review is in archives – March 2012.) So I was worried could she do it again. Could she suck me into the book and not let me go until I hit the dreaded words – The End. And yuppers – she did it. As I said – I was doing the beta – so I had to read slow and check each word. I'd look up and I was 5 chapters further into the story. I had to backtrack and figure out where I was and start again. Her characters kept grabbing me and wouldn't let go.

What Brenda's worried about is the heroine is a bitch. She's madder than hell at Kal and she's got a good reason to be. But that's the beauty of the story. Brenda doesn't transform this angry woman overnight. It is a slow and realistic change. A bit of two steps forward and one step back that will drive the reader crazy and yell at the pages – Stop it. Stop being so angry. Love him!!!!!

The sexual tension is superb and I write erotic romance, so I kinda know what I'm talking about.
Oh, and the bad guy in the book – the creepy evil villain – you'll cheer at his comeuppance (comeuppance -noun - deserved reward or just deserts, usually unpleasant).

Would I recommend this book? Only if you wanted to read a great romance, full of action and passion and realistic characters with faults and plots twists and turns and a very satisfying ending – especially to a nasty bad guy.

As I said at the end of Love's Prophecy review and it holds true for Prophecy's Child - This is not a I'll put this on my TBR list book – this is a get the damn book and read it book!

Fantasic Series

This is the second book in this series which i downloaded as soon as i had finished the first book as these are highly addictive and have me hooked in the Prophecy and how it is coming together.

I love Kal and in the first book as he was a fun loving, hard drinking, joker of a ladys man with his good looks and Black (with blue highlights) hair that you just wanted to run your fingers through, but in this book it showed you a more serious side of Kal and his emotional side which i loved also.

Katherine has been on her own with her son for the last 10 years struggling to bring her son up on her own when she bumps (literally) into Kal and the sparks fly but not in a good way. Kat had a hard time dealing with her emotions after Kel abandened her that she distrust him, and her past feelings she has locked away and put a steel wall up around her heart.

Kat gets pulled into Kal's world of Vampires,Demons and Prophecy's against her will but soon learns that to be with Kel and her son this is what she has to deal with. This is a true love story that happens to involve the supernatural and it makes it a incredible read,it keep me gripped and is a page turner as the story unfolds

You can read this as a standalone as there are no cliffhangers but i would advice reading them in order as you get to here about the Prophecy that is going to happen in the future. If you love PNR this series is a must read,i now cant wait for the next book in this chapter.

Holy Moly, I like this book even better than Love's Prophecy. Kal is one hot vampire, but he is victim to the same short comings as human men. They just do not handle love well, but I am sure you all know that. Funny thing is Katherine (Kat) has her own problems and does not handle love well either. Add in one vampire/human 10 year old son and stir up a lot of good stuff. You know, and I know, that Kal and Kat get together in the end for their HEA, but the road to there is fun to read about.

I like this prophecy stuff involving vampires and humans united in love and bearing the children that will save the world from Lucifer and his Demons. Interesting new revelations about that. Can't wait for Soren's story. I think he actually might have smiled in this book. . .

In the spirit of full disclosure I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely adored Kal in the first book {despite him being a side character} so I was thrilled to learn he got his own book. Catherine is a strong woman forged into the strong person she is today because of the circumstances of her past.
Their story is full of inner turmoil and they must form a unified front to overcome the obstacles that still lay ahead.

My only complaint is Kal changed from the Jovial jokester of the first book into a brooding male in this one. I missed his joking ways from the first book.

Well done Brenda. :)

WHY KAL IS REALLY A MAN WH#RE?????

Kat comes from a very religious home and fell in love. Her parents disowned her when she gave her virginity to her lover. The lover disappears, turns off his phone and for a decade she's been on her own barely making ends meet. Kal left because vampires aren't allowed to fall for a human. Kal and Kats story is AWESOME.. They run into each other at Wal-Mart and she wants nothing to do with him never, ever again. But never say never. I REALLY love this series. There's really great sexy time too in every book. This story is really touching. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!#!!

Ms. Dyer has hit another one out of the park with her new book. I have been a big fan since book one of this series, and Kal's story did not disappoint. This book has everything any self-respecting PNR fan would want: hot vamps, a strong-willed heroine, and some interesting twists to the mythos. That's my "official" review, but really what I want to say is this: Kal, oh yes, sigh (dribble dribble). Yes, that was me drooling.

Book2 was just as amazing as Book 1!

I'm so happy to have been introduced to this series! I loved Kal and Katherine's story. Their love for one another was so strong and true even after all the hurt they endured on their way back to each other. Kal's love for his son Ike was so sweet even though he had just met him. The only thing I'm sad about is finishing the book, lol! Can't wait to read the next story!!

I like this book. Katherine was a struggling single mother trying to raise her son. She was still angry at the man she had fallen in love with for abandoning her. Kal didn't know he had a son until he by chance ran into Katherine at the WalMart and took her bill to her house and his son opens the door. Meanwhile, ole pepping Tom across the way is lusting after Katherine and the story is off and running. Great story!

This sequel was just as great as the first. This story centers around Katherine and Kal. Katherine is a single mom who struggles to get by, Kal is the vampire who left her without realizing she was pregnant. You understand why both of them made the choices they did and why it is hard for Katherine to forgive Kal. But trust that their love story is amazing to read.

i know it kind of weird to read books out of order but i have to say i wasn't the least bit lost when i started to read this book i loved it. Katherine Colby’s woke up one morning to find her lover and love of her life gone. he had left her without so much as a good bye and she is heartbroken and finds it hard to move on. Kal the man who broke poor Katherine's heart leaves because he believes he will ruin her life with his secret little does he know he has left a bit of himself with her.
Years later Kal comes back into Katherine's life and she is non to thrilled when he sees her he also see she has a son and thinks she has moved on which isn't the case. he finds out ten year old ike is his son and is like him in every sense of the word. It turns out that ike is a child of prophecy and katherine is a huge part of that prophecy as well. needless to say if i tell you anymore i will kill the story. Will Kal and Katrine get back together? what is Ike's purpose? will this family have a happy ending to find out get the book its a great read and i thoroughly enjoyed it.

Beauty of forgiveness, atonement & forever love
Ok Im big big fan of Duty First reads that create decisions that in end remove lovers from each other. Either by another force or all their own protective decision making at the time i.e I thought this was the right thing to do.

I love a big secret.
This secret is a doozy and the suspense as it drew out between Kal & Kat meeting again after 10 years was angst, hate and loves gift all rolled into one grear story. Plus dont forget sexy Kal Vampire vibe.!

✅️ Hot Cover
✅️Urban Fantasy
✅️Second chance HEA
✅️Great contemporary feel
✅️ Paranormal society - was well intergrated
✅️Finally a fresh take on Vampire persona and creation
✅️MCs are interesting,likeble, believable
✅️GREAT Effort made for worldbuilding and great varied characters you meet in in future books.
❤️ I loved the inner voice monologues their self talk - what the character is thinking, considering or tormenting themselves with.

I loved this book and I couldn't put it down, ive reread it 15 more times and bought the paperback- most enjoyable 2nd chance PNR.

I read this book in a night. The Author again wrote with passion and loved the angst in this book.

I can't wait for book four. Kal and Kat came around in the end and they both had to find themselves before they could be honest with each other. I have to admit that there was a couple of points in the book that I thought there was not going to be a happy ending for them. Brenda Dyer knows how to bring out the best and worst in her characters. You seen Kat and Kal struggle through hatred of themselves as well as anger for all the pain that they have been put through. It is very rare when an author can create characters that feel like real people with extraordinary circumstances even though you know they are fictional. I love a book that can keep my attention as well as help me imagine that I am living in the world created by the author.
