يمثل دوستويفسكي عتبة أساسية يجب الوقوف عندها لقارئ الأدب في مكان في العالم. والرواية التي بين يديك عزيزي القارئ، وهي رواية الأبله، تصنف مع بقية روايات دوستويفسكي الكبرى كواحدة من أهم الأعمال الروائية للعصر الذهبي للأدب الروسي. نشر دوستويفسكي روايته "الأبله" أولا مسلسلة في مجلة الرسول الروسي الأدبية في عامي 1868- 1869 . و"الأبله" صفة المقصود بها خطأ بطل الرواية الرئيسي الأمير الشاب الطيب ميشكين، الذي تدفع طيبته وقلبه المفتوح على الحياة والبشر، بعض الشخصيات لاعتباره "الأبله" الذي ينقصه الذكاء والذي يمكن خداعه واللعب به كيفما يشاء اللاعبون والمخادعون، لكن مجريات الأحداث تفاجئ الجميع. صنفت رواية "الأبله" من قبل النقاد ومؤرخي الرواية بأنها رواية فلسفية.
