Loving in fast forward...

Love on the fast track has been the definition of Harper and Deacon McCoy's relationship. In between studio sessions with Deacon's band, Oblivion, and building a new clientele for Harper's catering business, the newlyweds haven't had time to sleep let alone have a honeymoon.

Deacon convinces Harper that they need a week alone together before her business as well as a new album and tour swallows them whole. Since Texas has always held special meaning for them, they head to Galveston to recharge and remember what it's like to just be a couple.

A beachfront cottage, hours of alone time, and plenty of skin on skin action is just what the rock star ordered. Until the future once again comes much quicker than they expected, threatening to crumble not only their perfect honeymoon but also their brand new marriage.

**What comes after happily ever after? This book is a standalone title in the Lost in Oblivion series.**

Rock, Rattle and Roll, book 1.5 in Lost in Oblivion Series, is novella about Deacon and Harper, who have spent very little time together since they got “hitched” due to their careers keeping them apart and Deacon has arranged a short break from the band to take his loved one on a belated honeymoon.

A secluded beachfront villa in Galveston, one of their favorite places in the world, is just the perfect place to be with each other.

They spend their days in bed, making love, making more love, eating and drinking and making love again…….on the beach….making love again and again….yes, they do that a lot over such a few pages!!!!

Quite a few surprises, a couple of twists.
I enjoy this quick read….just wished that Harper hadn’t behaved like she did when she made that momentous discovery….but it was a sweet story.

My favorite quote:

And yay….can’t wait for the next book, Twisted. Finally getting Jazz (my fav band drummer ever!!!) and of course Gray…story!!!

A good story featuring Harper and Deacon on their honeymoon, with some twists and lots of sex! Now that would be nice, but it only covers the first half of this book. Everything is fine and suddenly a sad vibe penetrates the plot line with no apparent reason.

Deacon and Harper are finally taking some time off and they start their honeymoon trip with the best intenions.. They have fun, sex, too much sex actually, they drink, they party they dance, and they have sex again..

As good as it gets, right? Then why the sudden change? Why the whole over dramatic "is this marriage going to work" conundrum? I love a good drama but only when it's needed and has an additional element to the story.

I understand why Deacon might feel betrayed in a way and hurt by Harper's reaction to her pregnancy, but isn't more important that they are together, in love, and they are finally starting their new life as a couple? There is time for everything, relaxe.

At a point i felt it would have been better if i read 160 pages of them having sex in every surface like rabbits.. But the end was a nice save so ok..

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- Some editing issues.
- I hated Nick's reaction, what the hell.
- Jazz is still my favorite.
- DJ was a little too much for my liking, although highly entertaining.
- Dual POV.

A celebration of love, a time for tenderness and pleasure in an intimate and secluded place that holds special meaning to them. That was Harper and Deacon’s only objective. But “sometimes the cosmos, or fate, or God, whatever you want to call it… sometimes it has other plans.”

I just love having more of my favorite characters. And getting a novella full of this delectable sexy couple is a treat. But it’s more than just them on their honeymoon, it’s them moving forward in their relationship and learning how to navigate together through life’s many twists and turns.
“They still had their marriage training wheels on.”

You may guess at the general plot line, it’s something I’ve read before but I liked that the tone is different. It’s set between fear and anxiety of the unknown and excitement for the future.

Taryn and Carin bring back Deacon’s swoony and unique way of loving, Harper’s independence, their fun easy banter, their love for food. Overall they write a story full of beautiful depictions that make it come to life in a very vivid way. Together with the love and desire that these two wonderfully appealing characters make this an enticing and touching short story.
“Deacon was her air. When life bombarded and suffocated, just the touch of his warm skin brought balance.”

“She was exactly what he’d needed. Exactly what he’d been longing for before he’d even know what it was like to love.”

This is also a great setting for what’s to come, leaving the door open for more stories of Oblivion’s colorful and eclectic band members.

If you’d like to see all the inspiration for Rock, Rattle and Roll you can go here.

I LOVE Deacon & Harper! Loved getting this novella of their long delayed honeymoon. If anything, I fell more in love with Deacon. Talk about H.O.T. *whew* I enjoyed being the fly on the wall as they finally take a week to celebrate their marriage & love alone in a little beach house by the sea. The sex is frequent, erotic, and blows the top out of the Sex'Ometer! Holy Moly! I'd say "take a shower", but it's not any cooler in there with these two...some of those shower scenes are...*fanning self*...well, Steamy! But, it's not all fun & games in paradise as Deacon realizes something is amiss with Harper. You'll want to be there to watch as this couple works through their issues. Rock, Rattle, & Roll is another Page Burner in this series!

Just when you think you can't get any more of Deacon McCoy, here he is again.

This picks up where Rocked ended and I won't get into details in case you haven't read it, but just know that this is the little piece of cake you were missing when the first book ended. If you're anything like me, you wanted just a little bit more to see how everything plays out for Harper and Deacon.

I listened to this one. I've made it my mission to listen to as much Kai and Wen as humanly possible. At this rate, I'm not sure if I'll ever catch up, but I will try!

I thank those two for bringing Deacon and Harper and the band of Oblivion to life. They've done a spectacular job. Again.

*Arc provided by Netgalley for a fair and honest review.

This novella from the Lost in Oblivion series was a quick and hot view into the life of Harper and Deacon, post-wedding. On their honeymoon, no less, so you know that it is at least going to be interesting on one area. As you can tell from the title, it does delve into more than just sex though. On that note...

I wish I could say more than this novella was more than just okay. That's all it was for me though, just okay. I am a little over the unplanned pregnancy trope rampant in this genre of books. It was handled slightly differently in this book, which was a good thing though. It added something that makes it stand out a little more. It's hard to write book that stands out despite following the same basic formula, but this author does manage to do that. Interesting characters and good writing make a huge difference.

Anyhoo. If you were already a fan of the great chemistry inspired by Harper and Deacon, you'll dig this novella. It's just enough to keep your appetite going for more of the series.

Deacon and Harper got married in the previous book, but since then their lives have gotten extremely busy. He is trying to make a new album, she is starting her own business. Feeling the need to get away and connect, Deacon takes Harper to a quiet little beach house for a week-long honeymoon. Harper is practically insatiable for the first few days. When her tastebuds start acting up, she realizes that time with Deacon wasn't all she was missing.

Often romances end once the MCs wed, but we get the honeymoon story in this novella. It starts off hot - smut factor 4 out of 5 - but I felt like the happy feelings spiraled down when Harper figured out she was pregnant. While her state of mind might be realistic, it was a little too much for me to keep wondering if she was going to keep the baby or not. I felt like the author tried so hard not to push an agenda with Harper's choice, that it had the opposite effect. Just my two cents.

Rock, Rattle & Roll is the third book in the Lost in Oblivion Series and after having read this, I can’t wait for more. Harper and Deacon are finally slipping away for their much needed honeymoon and the sheets are going to be set on fire. This may have been a short novella, but this was packed with heat and passion. Deacon is sexy, loving and I have dubbed him my newest book boyfriend. Loved every second of this story. I thought it was well paced, steamy and kept me panting for more.

I read this book because it fits in a category of a competition I am in. The fact that I have not read the first book in the series is possibly why I didn't think a great deal of it but I doubt it. Basically the book is a lot of sex scenes and drinking at the start of the belated honeymoon, for Deacon and Harper McCoy. Deacon is trying to go incognito by growing a beard as he is a member of an up and coming rock band but despite the beard he is still recognised. Harper is a chef and has just started her own business hence there is a lot of talk about food. The rest of the book follows the discovery that Harper is pregnant and when she first suspects it instead of telling her husband Harper seeks out the waitress she met while on the honeymoon. The book has the inevitable ending.

Deacon is a bass player for a band that is up and coming getting ready to make a big tour ,but is wanting to spend time with his with his wife since they have not been able to go on a honeymoon or spend any time together in a while since she is starting a new business. Finally he shows up at her last job and tells Harper that it is all worked out for them to get away for a week. At first she is not wanting to leave but after a few minutes she is calm and realizes that she does need time off as well. They both need to be away and just be together skin on skin. Once they reach their destination that is what happens for the next four days barley taking a break for food and for a couple of nights at a local bar. On the fourth day Harper is not feeling good and she talks to a waitress that she meet at the bar. She finds out she is pregnant but does not tell Deacon for one full day and he knows the entire time that something is wrong with. Once she tells him he is frustrated that she waited to tell him, trying to get her out of always doing things by herself. They talk and she talks that night to the female member of the band, Jazz, to let her know and to voice her fears and concerns. The next morning after they talk he tells her though this was not planed everything will work out and she starts to feel better and they enjoy the last two days of the trip. One they get back into town they break the news to the band and everyone is happy except for one member who throws a fit and storms. The rest of the band is cool and Deacon says they will make the tour work. Then the book ends once again the same author as another book I read, you have to wait for the next book or who knows how many books to find out what happens and you have to wait months before the next book comes out. I really enjoyed the story and the characters once again from this author. I am just not a big fan of waiting for book after book for a story to finish. I know that for some people that is okay, but for me it is not. Too many people ask me to read their books so I can’t remember to look for a book months down the road. Other than that it was a good book. I got this book from net galley.

I fell in love with Deacon and Harper in Rocked and most of the band as well. I was ecstatic when I first found out this novella would be released shortly after I finished the book. I hadn't been ready to leave Oblivion behind yet, and Twisted, Jazz and Gray's book wouldn't be released until October 2014.

This novella picks up slightly after the end of Rocked. I was so happy to see Harper and Deacon doing well. I was a little surprised and delighted at how hot and heavy the two were on their honeymoon. I was a little concerned that's all I was going to read for over a hundred pages, but I shouldn't have been. Taryn and Cari definitely brought their story telling flare to Rock, Rattle & Roll.

When I finally found out what was going on, I was rocked (no pun intended). I love the sensitivity with which both Harper and Deacon treated the new hurdle they were facing. Things could've turned out differently and broken both of them apart, but I'm so glad they didn't. I think one of my favorite scenes/dialogues is between Jazz and Harper. Jazz gave Harper some really solid and sound advice we all need to remember at times.

At the end of the novella there was an excerpt of Twisted, I loved and sort of wished wasn't included. It wasn't that it was bad, but just that I really wanted to read the rest of Twisted and I wasn't able to. I will be keeping my fingers crossed the book will be available in October. If you haven't checked out this series, you should, but start with the prequel novella Seduced, you won't regret it!

4 "Just what you have always wanted stars"

This book takes up shortly after the first book in the Oblivion series and is a novella giving you more of Deacon and Harper's story. What I loved is that you get what you want. To explain, when I finish a book about a couple I have enjoyed I find myself wishing we could get just a little more. I often want to know what happens next. Even in a series, we normally only get a glimpse of a couple again and never the details we are craving. Well this novella gives you the details.

After a crazy schedule has ensued, Harper and Deacon take a break and take the honeymoon that never happened. We get more of the steamy scenes that filled their first book and we get to enjoy them as a couple a little longer. Then of course something comes along to mess up their perfect time together. I had mixed feelings on everything that goes down. At first glance, Harper really bothered me with the way she handled everything. But with more thought I realized her reaction was probably spot on. This couple, though married, really doesn't know that much about each other as it has only been a few months of time spent together. Keeping that in mind, I guess I understand why she freaked.

Like the other books, this one intermingles itself with the band as well and more of the tension and drama that is most likely to come in the rest of the series is palpable. On a side note, the end of this book contains some bonus scenes including the memorable trio moment in the prequel. Can't wait to see what Jazz and Gray's story will be.

As the third book in the Lost in Oblivion series, Rock, Rattle & Roll is yet another home run. These two authors, Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott are incredible individually, however, when they team up, they cannot miss.

This novella is the story of Deacon and Harper's honeymoon and is anything except run of the mill. The steam and the emotions, the feels, are off the charts and some of the lines in the book are so descriptive, I thought I was there with them. The incredible writing and the rocky and tender story made me want to BE Harper.

At the same time, I wanted to knock her upside the head, as I did Nick, and wanted to hug her tight at the moment she found out....well, I'll leave that to the writers to tell. As for Deacon, that manster is my favorite book boyfriend and wish that I had a man, much less a rock star, in my life that was that compassionate, sweet, hot and oh god, tender as he is....not to to mention a rock star in bed. DAYUM!

All in all, this one is a book that I will reread on a regular basis. Looking forward to book four, Twisted, in the fall!!!

Deacon and Harper finally get to take their long-delayed honeymoon after a jam-packed schedule for both of them. What begins as a wonderful getaway turns into another moment of crisis.

While it was wonderful to continue my love affair with this couple, it didn’t wow me like their longer story. I have to admit skipping some of the steamy moments as they seemed to dominate this book, even though part of that was relevant. Still, just more than the length of the book dictated. The conflict was completely in keeping with the characterizations of Deacon and Harper and I liked how it played out.

I’m looking forward to what’s next for Oblivion and how Deacon and Harper manage their future. This series just really works for me. 3.5 stars

I loved the first book in this series and was so pleased to carry on the story of Harper and Deacon.

After a manic few weeks Harper and Deacon finally get their honeymoon but after struggling to spend any time together challenges face their relationship needs a little work.

Loved the characters and the story, I'm looking forward to reading the next one.

Rock, Rattle & Roll

This one was...OK. I give it 3.5...maybe 3.75...stars.

I think this whole review may basically be a spoiler, so even though the blurb pretty much gave away most of the story, read at your own risk.

After being married for a little less than 2 months, Deacon and Harper finally carve out some time for a much-needed honeymoon. Almost immediately, Harper starts to act strangely. And this strange behavior is drawn out--rather needlessly--over several chapters.

Harper is pregnant. To say it's unplanned is an understatement.

Her initial response is panic--they're too young; they're just starting out; they're not ready; etc, etc, insert next panicked thought here. I suppose all of that is understandable.

I can't go into all things that happened that I didn't like because I'd be giving away most of the book. The one thing...OK, two things... I really didn't like were that she kept it from Deacon, even when she just suspected, and that the two women she does initially confide in suggest she get rid of it... one even says that she doesn't even have to tell Deacon.

Who does that?!

Poor Deacon, when he does find out, is torn: he wants a family...he wants this baby...but he lived through having a mother who didn't want to be a mother. He doesn't want to force Harper to do something she may not want to do...but can he live with the alternative?

This book was very emotional. I think one of the hallmarks of good writing is that, whether you've been in that situation or not, you can feel every rollercoaster of emotion that these characters are feeling. And I did.

There was very little of the band in this book, but when the others were involved, Simon brought the humor/ridiculousness...I love Simon...and Nick brought the angst...Jazz brought the bubbliness (is that a word?)...and Gray is kinda just there.

The next book is about Gray and I can't wait to get started on it!

Cute, very cute, lots of beach frolicking, day drinking, and banging it out at any given opportunity.

I love these two.
But what really got me was the baby surprise.
Is this real?
Did this happen?
Did an MC accidentally get pregnant, mutually freak out about not being ready, talk about abortion without instantly vetoing it, and come to a conclusion that was about them, their relationship, and not about a bunch of cells?
Did I read that right?!
...
Miladies Quinn and Elliott...

I generally feel suffocated under the sheer quantities of babies conceived in the romance genre, as if having one is the absolute only happy ending available.
If you haven't procreated, you're not really in love.
The same goes for marriage.
Two things I strongly support, but it'd be nice for those of us who don't want those things to read a romance where the MC are just happy living together until the clock runs out.
Which is an equally worthy and important style of relationship.
But if I have to be subjected to endless babies, can it be done like this? Where there are freakouts and guilt-free discussions about not having a child?
Just 10%, it's all i'm asking.

So, thank you, Taryn Quinn for going there, and making it messy and a little heartbreaking but showing a little realness in the genre.
I may never have a baby, but I'll damn well protect my right and everyone else's to choose, especially in our current war against women's bodily autonomy climate.

Fabulous Story & Audible Listen🎧 Deacon💘Harper Rocking their Love!

Rock, Rattle and Roll
Lost in Oblivion, 1.5
By: Taryn Elliott, Cari Quinn
Narrated by: Kai Kennicott, Wen Ross

I loved everything about this book, from Taryn Elliott & Cari Quinn’s wonderful writing style to the storylines they created. This is a continuation of Deacon & Harper’s story, I had the pleasure of meeting them in the first book “Rocked”, if you have not read it and you should it is an awesome book. The newlyweds finally get their honeymoon, they have not had much alone time because Deacon’s been busy working with the band and Harper with her new catering business. So off they go to a cottage on the beach in Galveston. Their honeymoon is amazing & steamy, until they are faced with an unexpected surprise and some life changing news. I love these two together, their love is new but it is solid and strong and it is great to see how they hashed things outsI am looking forward to hear more about them in this great series. Thank you Taryn Elliott & Cari Quinn for another amazing heartfelt and super hot story.

I listened to the Audible edition, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are talented narrators and voice artists. They continue to bring these characters and their story to life. I love Kai’s take on Harper, she sounds just as I picture her, strong, independent and fierce. Wen’s portrayal of Deacon is awesome too, hot rocker god with a heart of gold. This narration team is simply amazing, their duet performance brings the story up another notch of greatness. It is always a pleasure to listen to their work. Thank you for another fabulous listen🎧

This story continues where Rocked left off. But I love the focus on just the newlyweds. Harper and Deacon deserve some alone time and this story is all about them. But what would their crazy life be without interruptions and distractions from their true focus. There was so much packed into this novella. I cannot get enough of Harper and Deacon.. They have a romance like no other. It is full of excitement, turbulence and steam. They fit well together and that makes this story so addicting. I hope there is more to come from this couple.

Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott bring out the chemistry between Harper and Deacon like no one else can. Kai has a soft sweet voice that brings out the sweet, yet determined girl in Harper. Wen is amazing as Deacon. Wen has that voice that makes his characters so swoon worthy. Deacon, being a rock star, has fans falling at his feet, and Wen makes the readers fall as well. (Have I mentioned his chuckle gets me every time) I love this narrating team.

TrishswirlWhen an author you already love says "Hey, you guys wanna read my latest book?" You only have one answer. HELL YES. Such was the case when Taryn Elliott offered us a chance to read and review Rock, Rattle & Roll. This is the follow up novella to Rocked, which I gave 5 stars and made Deacon my book boyfriend. I love that Big Guy. This book didn't change a thing. I still loved it, and I still think Deacon is the most amazing guy ever.

Overall Rating: 4.5 stars- Screw sleep! I’ll let the kids watch TV and eat hot dogs tomorrow.

BookQuote4Okay. Here's the deal. I loved it. Now, Megan had some issues with how Harper reacted to some things and we got into a big argument about it. (Yes, we do argue over fictional characters. Regularly.) I can't tell you our exact argument because it would involve a massive spoiler. However, just know that I am right and she is wrong. So there.

Seriously, though. I found Harper realistic and believable. I wish she had handled things differently, but I didn't find her reaction out of character for her. When she's freaked, she runs. Deacon is strong and stoic. That's just how they are. But that's really all I can say about that w/o getting into spoilerific details. Just know that while I didn't LIKE it, I understood it.
"Do you realize I haven't been inside you in four days?"

Otherwise, this was an awesome glimpse into the life of Deacon and Harper as a married couple. They're still having smokin' hot sex. (I mean, SMOKIN' HOT.) and they're still adorable together. There's a night when they get drunk and rowdy in a bar that just had me giggling. I might, maybe, occasionally get drunk and rowdy too, so I loved it. I would definitely hang out with Harper and have a great time.
"Man, lucky girl. How'd you bag Mr. Universe?"
Harper pushed her shades up into her hair. "Coconut chocolate popovers."

I also loved that Harper went to Jazz when she needed to really talk. It made them seem more like family. Plus who doesn't love Jazz (MAN, I'm so ready for her book!) so getting a little snippet of her awesomeness was a major bonus.
"You're not alone anymore. You'll never be alone again."

The only thing I'm taking .5 off for is some continuity stuff and a few editing details. Plus it's short. I needed more! I think it's very, very hard to get me to a level 5 love in a novella. That being said, I stayed up until dawn one morning reading this because I was "just going to read one chapter to settle my brain..." and that was all she wrote. Literally, I read all she wrote. It was a good thing my kids were out of town so I got at least a few hours of sleep after that.
"Congratulations on fucking for a week straight."
"God, you're such an ass." Simon rose off the couch, two party hats on his head like horns. "It's congratulation on making love for a week straight."

I will say that if you liked Rocked, I think you'll like this. There are some controversial moments in it and maybe you'll side with Megan on Harper's handling of things (TRAITORS!) but I also think you'll be smiling by the end and it's worth the read.
"I'm sure about you. I'm sure about us."

Smut Factor: 5 stars- Had to wake my husband at 2am to quench my “need.”
Character likability:

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. I thought the story was great, however, and although I love sex, there was just a little too much in this book. I could have done without so much. It seemed to take up more than half the book, in my opinion. I prefer more story. I expected the waitress to have more story time. Looking forward to the next book in this series. The narrators, as always, did an excellent job with the characters and their personalities.

I love this couple!

Oh my! Just when I thought Deacon and Harper had their HEA, they finally go on their honeymoon *sigh*. Talk about steamy!!! And with both being so busy this is the perfect time for them to reconnect. Of course it can't be all smooth sailing, they have a big decision to make.

The companion story to Rocked, Deacon and Harper are enjoying time away together when Harper discovers a new someone is crashing their party. I loved the way the authors handled Harpers worry about pregnancy, the impartial sounding board they gave her, and the way Deacon didn't pressure her on the choice she needed to make. Filled with emotion, I loved this book.

Great play on the title

This is a continuation of Deacon and Harper’s story. Just because they got married doesn’t mean that life got less stressful or easier. But they finally get their honeymoon. And what an advance true that is. But it is so sweet, but also quite steamy. I’ll definitely be interested to see how this all plays out.

Good .....

This is a good addition or conclusion (depending on your take), to Deacon and Harper's story. It is about their one week honeymoon mostly and the obvious surprise package they came home with.
