(slight warning for anyone who doesn't like sexual innuendos! this webtoon doesn't feature explicit sexual material or content, but it does get suggestive (yippee))

out of my pre-read goals (see bottom of my review), here is what came true:
-why is this fucker still alive
-why is this fucker also still alive
-why did this fucker become a homewrecker (I STILL SORT OF HAVE SOME FAITH IN YOU)
-i've given up on calling everyone fuckers. but ranamun i want you to be a fucker!! just tryyy to seduce latil you're not reading all of those appealing-to-women lit for nothing!!!
-yes. mostly.
-HE'S GETTING PAGETIME HE'S GETTING PAGETIME YIPPEEEEE YIPPEEE YAYAYAYYY oh hes gone again WHY MUST YOU BREAK MY HEART LIKE THIS
-IT BASICALLY HAPPENED but sighhhhhh it didn't actually

it was phenomenal. every shortcoming from season 1 became as long as tasir's dick. the storytelling? excellent. the art? delicious. the consorts? hot as hell. latil? badass and amazing as ever.

it's still beyond me how webtoons are made. i understand there is oftentimes, if not always, a team working on the art and adaptation, but how does even a team create such high-quality, lengthy, and of course beautiful chapters weekly?! i will be confuzzled forever.

this season balanced romance with plot a great deal better than season 1, though i still found the romance to take a major backseat with the plot. but this time around, it was easier to follow as well, and more attention was given evenly to everybody! a lot of the mysteries shrouding the first season were addressed or even answered here, and i was simultaneously satisfied yet eager to read on.

i am eternally grateful that i arrived roughly 4 years after the webtoon started updating, because i have a whole wealth of episodes to gorge myself on. i truly feel terrible for the people who are reading weekly updates. the cliffhangers must kill you!

and now, a bit of fujoshi ramblings. your last chance to turn away! (includes season spoilers)

there's no way these people aren't gay.

-in season 1, zaicin literally touches ranamun's dick—yes, to heal him, but also he touched it, okay!
-zaicin, being devout, prays naked because it's to show maximum respect ("look, o holy one! look at how well i've been caring for the body you've blessed me!") and tasir sees!
-tasir thinks about a naked zaicin! latil spies on tasir's mind and sees this!
-tasir sends latil a nude portrait! she actually says, "could he really have something so big hanging off of him?!"
-portrait note says: "this is not an exaggeration. if you are skeptical, you can check yourself."
-sir sonnaught sees the portrait too! he marvels at the sheer size too! he's jealous.
-girgoll and carlein??? TRAVEL BUDDIES?! "THEY WERE ROOMMATES" TYPE SHIT
-hyarlan and cardun. I CAN SEE YOU I CAN FREAKING SEE YOU
-okay hear me out thula and the fox mask...
-there is more. THERE IS MORE, I TELL YOU! THERE IS MORE!!!

The Catalog: why choose (MFMMMM), revenge plot, Emperor FMC, building a harem, political intrigue

Thoughts:
I have mixed feelings about this series. On the one hand, I find the political aspects to be quite entertaining, and the characters are goofy in the best way. On the other hand, I’m struggling with the lack of actual romance in a series that is advertised as being a harem / why choose situation. Even rated Teen, I assumed there would be more romance.

Undecided if I will continue this series.

One of my favorites from webtoon! It makes me unbelievably happy to have these in physical form and to flip through all the beautiful pages. I love that the story had multiple plot lines and is a master at slow burn romance. I love to read and giggle and kick my feet while falling for the harem in real time!
