I just remembered how amazing it is...to go to school and know you’ll be there.
That. Was. So nerve-racking! I mean, I’m glad it happened, and it’s not as though I didn’t like it, but...pull yourself together, Yuki! You can survive a hot springs trip with your boyfriend! Wait, why the heck is the rest of the team here?! Yeah, I’m not sure I’m ready for a second round, but, well―this was supposed to be OUR romantic getaway, not a graduation trip. Or...is this his way of saying he’s over me?
I was kicking my feet, screaming into my pillow and begging to be struck down where I stood so I could die happy after that last chapter. Yuki actually properly communicated, Naruse said “oh baby” which might as well have been the last thing I witnessed before death. And he sprinted off to go kick ass but violence? Oh no. Drawing a turd on Hakamada and with it saying “I’m a piece of shit” oh yes please. (Hakamada Kissed Yuki without her consent and knowing she is with Naruse)
idk why would yuki even care about A STAIN on hakamada's clothes yk like... she knows she has to draw a line (and hkmd too) but this one is so overboard
Volume 13 runs from chapters 71 to 76. I love seeing them grow and get into the same college but I'm getting exasperated by how frequent Yuki hesitates. It's been years and she's still annoying. Hakamada, too. That guy needs to know how to move on and shit. I hope they stop using him for drama and make the guy move on ffs.
Yuki and Naruse have taken the next step in their relationship, but along with that intimacy comes a whole new set of emotions to work through. Additionally, another school year has passed, and Naruse is now joining Yuki as a college student. Everyone tells her she needs to keep an eye on her handsome boyfriend... but she trusts him! Right?
One thing I like about this manga is how realistic it can be, especially in terms of the coming-of-age aspects of this romance story. Both Yuki and Naruse are handling their first truly serious romantic relationship, and that means that they're figuring out who they are while also trying to understand someone else. It's a time that's both magical and adorable and gives you the butterflies, but is also studded with anxiety, self-doubt, and frustrations--and sometimes, those frustrations make you want to shake a character and shout, "Get it together!"
When I started this volume I was smiling and really loving the dynamic between Yuki and Naruse and how they were communicating so well. So what’s the issue you may ask? Was it the trip and the annoying guys that showed up? Yeah a little but I would’ve given a 4 star if that was the big issue but no Hakamada has to conveniently show up at the same college as Yuki and Naruse(honestly its a stretch that they are in the same school but I let that go) and once again has to be like oh I like you 🙄🙄. This forced triangle(if you can even call it that) is not cute. Hopefully we move away from this stupid dynamic and focus more on Yuki and Naruse being open and honest with each other since that is when Cheeky Brat is at its best.

Cheeky Brat is a thoroughly enjoyable young romance. Yuki is the high school basketball team manager, a very stoic and dedicated individual who is always professional in her job and in her personal life. Stumbling upon her when she's showing an unusual bit of emotion, Haruse, the team's cheeky playboy, is intrigued with Yuki and pursues her romantically. Their romance continues to be about opposites that attract. Her dedication to avoiding romance is infuriating, but it doesn't make it any less enjoyable to read. I see many comparisons to Maid Sama, but My Little Monster also comes to mind. I enjoyed the story, and especially the likeably awkward third point on the love triangle. Additionally, the illustrations, especially those of the basketball players, are excellent.
Yuki and Naruse have taken their relationship to the next level... Naruse has graduated high school... there's a double date to a hot spring... and a new college year starts. And there's a whole new barrage of anxiety and insecurities for Yuki (and Naruse) to wade through.
But I'm so happy; my boy Hakamada is still in the story. I couldn't keep the smile off my face and I hope I see more of his sunshine smiles.
This is an “ehhh” series for me and I keep trying to drop it but then I come back!!!! I don’t get it! But I think I was wanting to see if Naruse and Hakamada end up at the same college, therefore on the same team … which would be interesting! AND IT DID! I might have to read on a little longer… LOL
Don’t mind me I’m just a puddle of swoon over here. No matter what happens naruse always makes sure to communicate with yuki no matter what’s going on and I LOVE that. It’s so refreshing and it’s rare to see in manga. Him doing the heavy lifting in the relationship vs. her. I’m here for it!! He reassures her, makes time for her and most importantly adores her. My favorite volume yet!!
Aku harap volume selanjutnya (terjemahan bahasa indonesia) akan rilis secepatnya! Walaupun pada akhirnya udah baca sampai volume terbaru lewat web, tapi tetap pengen versi cetaknya...
