The DADDY adventure continues in GIRL as Daddy, Soyoung, Lisa, and Maddie welcome a new “friend”—Soyoung’s idol, kidnapped as the ultimate birthday gift when their favorite girl turns 19.
But there’s no time to celebrate. From battling rednecks and fending off vicious biker gangbangers to tracking down an unhinged billionaire kidnapper, the family faces–and creates–blood-soaked chaos at every turn.
And that’s not the worst of it. Soyoung’s estranged mother is back, too, and Selena is determined to recruit her daughter into the military. She can't wait to get Soyoung under her—and she’s not taking no for an answer.
Daddy’s off his meds and more dangerous than ever. Lisa’s never even heard of self-control. Maddie’s frustrations are boiling over. Cassie-Oh-Kay has her worst day ever, then things go downhill from there… And Soyoung? She’s finally stepping into her own—and it’s terrifying.
Packed with blood, chaos, betrayal, plot twists and deranged “love”, GIRL cranks up the violence and twisted family drama in the most explosive showdown yet.
GIRL is the sequel to DADDY, and is best enjoyed after reading Book 1.
Trigger There are no animals or children harmed in this book. There is a lot of violence (including strong SA against male characters) and a lot of borderline consensual love scenes. There is also cannibalism, blood, edge play, drug taking, alcohol abuse, and torture.
DNF at 41%. I like the Barns Brothers’ works for the most part. Always extremely vulgar, sexually despicable, and a mindless good time for splatterpunk fans. I didn’t hate this book, but it was just too similar to the first story in the series. However, this time, it all felt like a step down, as nothing was terribly new or innovative. And, it was way, way too long for this sort of book. Probably would have been better served at about half the length. Not my particular cup of tea, this time around, but please don’t let this review dissuade you from reading any of the Barns Boys’ books.
The follow up to Daddy, doesn't dissapoint in the slightest. The most fucked up family out there continue in the most outrageous fashion, murdering and fucking everything in sight. Looking forward to the third and final installment.
More of the same, the story development was a bit slow due to drawn out scenes of various depravity. Still loved it, just didn't hit as hard as the first. Will absolutely be reading the next installment. I feel somewhat invested in the characters now!!
GIRL: Splatterpunk Horror Mayhem by Crowley Barns and The Barns Brothers delivers exactly what its title promises—a wild ride filled with intense violence, over-the-top mayhem, and twisted family dynamics. Picking up where DADDY left off, this sequel plunges readers into a world of blood-soaked chaos and deranged "love" as the story escalates in brutality and complexity.
The authors certainly know how to create a vivid, relentless atmosphere, and the action never lets up. Each character brings their own brand of dysfunction, adding layers of chaos to the plot. Fans of splatterpunk will appreciate the sheer audacity of the writing and the unapologetically dark tone.
That said, the extreme nature of the content won't appeal to everyone. While the book is packed with action and plot twists, it sometimes feels overwhelming and lacks the nuanced storytelling needed to make the characters truly resonate. For me, it wasn’t as captivating as I’d hoped, but it certainly delivers for readers looking for high-octane horror with no holds barred.
If you’re into graphic, shocking tales with unfiltered violence and twisted relationships, GIRL will satisfy your craving for the extreme. It’s a chaotic continuation of DADDY, best suited for readers who enjoy splatterpunk in its rawest form.
Just when I thought I was over my infatuation with the first book in this rather effed up series, DADDY, I read this treasure. GIRL is everything that DADDY was, multiplied ten fold. More sexy time, - and taboo AF sexy time at that- more action, more drama, and more of the iconic loveable characters that made the first novel all that it was! For those of you that are new to the series, take that big kid step and read DADDY, take a bath because of how dirty you feel for reading it, and then come back for round two as this is definitely a sequel. You will appreciate that you did, solely for the flow of the plot and the amplified, unhinged personalities of a peculiar grouping of misfits that love to screw up the world, while screwing each other. This work has it all with strong character development, raunchy comedy, and utterly outlandish scenarios that will make you squirm while still turning the page to find out what happens next. I would also highly recommend this series for anyone that is in a reading slump, as this one pulled me out of mine.
Such a good second part to daddy. I couldn’t put it down. It wasn’t as shocking as daddy but it was still just as good. I can’t wait to read mommy. This book definitely gets you addicted to the lives and minds of every character. We might need a Maddie spin off omh that would be so good or even a Lisa one
I really like this series and it just got better. I truly never know which direction this storyline is going to take and that’s a first. Can’t wait for “Mommy” to come out.
It was a pretty good book honestly it was confusing to me like the storyline but it all made sense in the end took me forever to read bc i wasn’t 100% into it but decent book.
