**Do not read if you have yet to read SOAR (book 1). My review may contain spoilers for that book! You have been warned!**

At the end of SOAR, Casey finds out she is Pteron by being thrown off The Empire State building. How's that for discovering your part bird? Not only that but she is royalty. And now she has to deal with Jared rejecting her for also being Petron. If you remember correctly Pterons are not to mate with other Pterons. It’s a pesky unofficial rule of their kind. And he isn’t about to put his family through that again. So she turns to the only other person she can trust: Toby.

Man o’ man! I flew through this book like no other. I wanted to take my time with it but I couldn’t help myself. I had to know what was going on and who Casey would end up with. Yeah, so we thought she has chosen Jared at the end of SOAR. Well, things are not that simple. Lots of things come into play and we have to really wonder what feelings were real and what were brought on by outside forces. What am I talking about you may ask? Oh goodness…you’re just going to have to read to find out. It is crazy all that happens in such a short amount of time.

I do like Jared, so don’t get me wrong when I say he was a bootie head (and that is putting it lightly…Amazon has sensitive ears when reading our reviews). We all know he is a bootie head, but he was definitely more so in this book. The things he says made me want to throat punch him. I get that he is hurt and that is how he deals, but come on!

Sometimes it is too much. Now as for Toby. Wooo boy. He definitely has changed in a short amount of time. Fearing he lost Casey to Jared, only to learn he actually didn’t…he amps up his game and is out to win her over. Yes, he actually got better in this one. And I loved him in SOAR, so that is saying something.

I am still sitting here a day later wondering about that ending. I mean seriously…what just happened here? What the flip just happened? I am having to mentally go back through the book and wonder about some people and things that were said. I am flabbergasted by it all. Most of our favorite characters are in trouble and I am so nervous for them and what is to come.

So here is the deal…I loved it, I couldn’t put it down, and I inhaled it rather quickly. So yes I recommend it to anyone and everyone. It is a no brainer that if you read SOAR you are going to want to read this one. How could you not, right? So, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts as soon as you read it.

Jared, I was shocked to see a different side of the fun loving boy that I fell in love with, he's more harsh and kind of an a**, "that just makes it better. She lets me eff her then goes crying to Toby. Effing perfect." Grandma Georgina bless that woman's heart, "she made some sort of grunting noise. "You will be moving. I don't know anything about this cousin, but a Lauren doesn't live in such squalor." I mean Jared that boy is more crude then normal in this book, "not a big deal? And I didn't just sleep with her. I lost count of how many times we went." Casey we learn is a little bold when it comes to Toby, "we were both wearing only underwear, and I moved to take off mine. He pushed away my hand and did it himself, slowly sliding them down my legs. I did the same thing for him, but I took him in my hand before his boxers reached the carpeted floor." I mean Toby he doesn't hide the fact that Casey really affects him:
"I don't think I could ever get enough of you."
" Yeah. I can kind of tell." I could feel how hard and ready he was. I wondered if he'd ever be fully sated."
And Toby seriously has no qualms about being nude in front of Casey, "you're no fun." He stood up, giving me a full frontal view of his body. He was aroused and just as gorgeous as always. I tossed his boxers at him." The ending wasn't bad, not a major cliffhanger and I was quite pleased with Toby and Casey and where they were at and that's really all I cared about. I love these characters all of them even if they get on my nerves like Jared did, but he pulled his head out of his a** and got his sh** together.

I recevid this book from the author.

OMG she did it again...she left me HANGING!! OMG she totally kicked my butt again in this series......i abso looooove loooove loooove this series. It is an awesome Paranormal series that keeps twists and turns and secrets and lies and deceit and...........

SO in this book Casey and Jared are O.V.E.R. And she runs right back to Toby which is where she belonged anyway!! So why did she just dump Toby for Jared...dont get me wrong I mean he IS httoei Jared but she was allll Toby Toby Toby.....Well we find out and its a good one!! Then we discover that Casey isnt just one shifter but made up of two shifters ...SAY WHAT!!! But her bird shift is the dominant shifter.....sooo we also get to see her meet her dad...AKA The old king....AKA Levi the current kings dad. It was kinda interesting to hear his side and I cannot wait for it in book 3. I also loved Levi's mom reaching out to meet Casey knowing her husband has committed adultery with another woman. She wanted to make sure Casey felt loved...kinda awesome. As the Allie's little issues with being an Enchantress were also expalined as to WHY it happened...again way cool twist.

So Jared is a total JERK in this novel at first. He is not going to love a shifter, i mean it is a big no no. He is going to be with a human even if his heart is saying he likes Casey. When she confronts him...WOW I wanted to punch him in the face!! What a jerk. Anyway Jared does go back to being awesome Jared and i am curious about the next book IF a certain BEAR shifter will be his HEA???? Maybe???? That would be fun.

Toby...sigh....I really hated Toby in the first series but am sooo in love with him this series. I was a but heartbroken when Casey dumped him for Jared but was glad to see and understand why she was back with him. He doesnt care if she is part bird. He loves her for her and her soul.... sniff sniff...amazing guy. I also loved hearing them admit their love.....all is right with the world......

Ok the "bad guy" in this book...I was going HOLY CRAP when it was told and I can not wait for the next book because it will be EPIC!!!

Warning this review may contain spoilers if you haven’t read book 1.

I loved this second book in the Empire Chronicles series by Alyssa Rose Ivy. I read book 1 and 2 back to back, having not read any of Alyssa Rose Ivy paranormal book’s before. I really enjoyed this book, it is a great series.

The book starts with Casey dealing with fact that she isn’t Human but a Pteron princess. The only person she feels she can turn to is Toby after Jared turned in a right arse in this book. I just didn’t get the change in him in the first half of the book but he did redeem himself by the end of the book. Toby is great once again, I really felt sorry for Toby on book 1 but I felt we really got to know him better in the this books and I love how he cared and supported Casey and decided to fight for her. What I really like about this book is that it told from Casey’s, Toby’s and Jared’s POV so you really get to learn about the characters feelings and thoughts. It helps to put a different perspective on story and helps to understand their actions. I really like that is a new adult romance story with the mix of the paranormal story. It’ not often you get both in a great book.

This book is very well written and their and lots of twists and turns. I wanted to keep reading throughout. The secondary characters were great and after reading this I will most definitely be reading Levi and Allie’s story. There was a slight cliff-hanger ending and I can’t wait to find out what happens to the gang in the next book.
Overall a great book full of suspense, drama and romance.

At first I had to struggle with getting into the book. It's been a while since I read this particular series, so it took me a little into the book to catch up. I thought it was really good until the end. The cliffhanger ending was just dumped on U, I know that's the point of a cliffhanger. But there was so much build up, walking on eggshells waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm still finding it hard to like Toby, he was such a douche to Allie in the first 3 books. I find it hard to forgive him. I also dislike how everyone gets their heart broken, then all of a sudden they find their "soul mate". It's like a teenage soap opera.

So I actually didn't like the first book too much. The love triangle was a major bummer for me. But I LOVE everything else by Alyssa Rose Ivy so I decided to try this one and I'm happy I did. The love triangle resolved itself well. There was yet another exciting cliffhanger! And we got to see Ally and Levi get married!

OMG how exciting, again I didn't realise the end of the book was upon me lol. Casey has come full circle and is now finding out all sorts about her life, her family, and what she she is capable of now but what will she do when things go wrong again? Will Toby be able to get to Casey? Will Jared get over his own issues to save the day? Will Levi and Allie have the honeymoon they planned? Or will the war brewing take over everything?
Again another great read, the plot, and writing are good. The characters again come together. Huge amounts of angst, lots of twists and turns. Some very sweet romantic moments as well as hot sexy ones. Diving right into the next book, would recommend.

I liked this book better than the first. I was still hoping she would get with Jared, but she definitely can't now at the end of this book. I thought Tiffany was working with the Bears, I just didn't think she was The Boss.

I have to agree with every review before this one. It was an amazing book and does deserve the five stars I gave it for how the book was composed. However, from my PERSONAL feelings (what I thought of the content) about the book were not so satisfied. I'm saying I was satisfied with the book but I wasn't over the edge like I was with the first book. I read the entire Crescent Chronicles trilogy and loved it. That is how I fell in love with this author. The characters were amazing and seeing them pop up in here made me excited. I would have to say Jared Florence was one of my favorite characters from the Crescent Chronicles trilogy and I was really disappointed on how he was characterized in this series. I wasn't a fan of Toby from the Crescent Chronicles trilogy, but I wouldn't say that is why I disliked the book.

Usually when I start to read a book I find out the characters involved and when I knew Jared was in it I was so excited to see what would happen. In the first book I was hooked on the idea that he would get the girl (just sayin'). Normally I'm right when it comes to that sort of thing but "Search" took me by surprise. I know most people don't like love triangles, but I love them. However, I do understand that reading the inside of a girl's mind as she whiningly struggles over her feelings for both guys could get annoying; especially if it happens too much (trust me I know a series that did just that).

Okay, now from the first book, from Jared's thoughts, I REALLY thought that he was serious about being in love with her. He says that she was his match, he would fight for her love, etc. I fell in love with him for this. I also had hope for their love because he hadn't been with any other girl since her (as we find out in the second from his point of view). He felt differently about her than any other girl and he said things he never said to any other girl. Even what Casey said back to him made me believe in their love. It might just have been me but I was sold on the idea that he would win over her heart. As soon as they introduced her as being a pteron (hoped I spelled that right) I was shocked and immediately thought back to Jared's brother, Bryant. With this information I had hoped that this book would show Jared confronting the fact he was in the same situation as Bryant was before, of course he would be freaked out and against her at first, but I truly wanted him to be able to overcome that (like a moral development). Sad to say that didn't happen. I mean sure, I was happy they came to terms with each other but not satisfied. I do know that she was 'bewitched' (her emotions were influenced), but I thought that by the time they did 'it' she was herself (she had self control around Toby, why not Jared).

I was well pushed over the edge emotionally when Jared started eyeing her sister. I MEAN ARE YOU SERIOUS! After reading their meeting with each other I was ready to end the book because I was shocked to death at this point but I just couldn't put the book down, no matter how angry I was I needed to know how it ended (with a cliffhanger of course). The ending was shocking as well (for a different reason) and I had to give Alyssa Rose Ivy her props for fooling me. I had thought 'the boss' was someone else, I even made a suspect list, but the character she made 'the boss' had my jaw on the floor and surprise scrawled on my face.

I did truly love the book even if my review didn't say it. I guess it was because I was a Jared fan that my experience wasn't that of excitement, nothing against Toby at all though. This book was really good and again I apologize for not saying that enough. I know all the Toby fans were happy. Alyssa Rose Ivy is honestly one of the best authors I have come across and I will continue to read her books. For me that is really saying something because I don't hesitate to stop in the middle of reading a book if I don't like it(trust me I won't turn back), so the fact that I read the book even if my guy in it wasn't what I expected means a lot. I recommend this book to any one and everyone. It is amazing! If you haven't read the Crescent Chronicles by Alyssa Rose Ivy yet, then you are definitely missing out on an awesome trilogy!

This was a fantastic sequel to Soar, more than I could ever want in a sequel. This review will contain spoilers for Soar, so read no further if you haven't read it. At the end of Soar, we were left with Casey finding out she was a Pteron and the daughter of Robert (Levi's father). She's left reeling from not only that surprising revelation, but also from Jared's rejection of her after they slept together. In other words, major drama was going down at the end of the last book. This book isn't any exception. There is still major drama as Casey is faced to deal with her new abilities, Jared and Toby, and some other very surprising revelations about her past. Ms. Ivy knows how to throw some major twists at the reader, and just when you think you have things figured out, there's another surprise that leaves you in a state of shock (ahem...the ending).

The story alternates between Casey, Jared, and Toby's POV. While this might be a challenge for a lot of authors, Ms. Ivy handles is perfectly, giving each character their own distinct voice. You are never once confused at who is talking (even if you didn't see the character's name at the beginning of the chapter). Casey is great as our female lead. She's an extremely realistic character, one that many people can easily relate to. One of the things I love the most about Casey's character though is how she handles everything. She handles all the situations she is thrown in a way that anyone would. She is prone to freaking-out, which who wouldn't, but at the same time, she is strong and handles things with grace. Jared is certainly an enigma. I absolutely love his character, and would love to see more from him (possibly another spin off series??). You can tell when reading his perspective, how much he truly cares about Casey. He didn't want to hurt her, and it was nice to see their reconciliation. You know that beneath that tough, stern exterior, there is something sweet underneath. However, if the ending is anything to go by though, he is for some major challenges in the next book. Toby's character is one I absolutely adore. He's no Levi, but man I love this boy! His feelings for Casey are so obvious, and I love that he is finally happy. He and Casey have some steamy scenes, and I love how they are with each other. They interact in a way that most couples only hope for, and it's something all girls want. Toby will go to the ends of the earth for Casey, and after something huge happens after a favorite couple gets married (yes that's right...there's a romantic wedding!) he does everything in his power to ensure Casey's safety.

This book has non-stop action, excitement, and steamy scenes. I flew through this book (pun totally intended), and never wanted to put it down. This is a must read for fans of Ms. Ivy and either the Crescent Chronicles or the Empire Chronicles. Ms. Ivy's writing is superb, and it is the right mix of funny and serious. I can't wait until the third one is released, and I sincerely hope that there is at least another series featuring these characters. I don't want to say goodbye yet! I will warn you now...there is a huge twist at the end resulting in an even bigger cliffhanger. Highly recommended!!

Happy reading :)

I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review, I was in no way compensated for this review.

Alyssa Rose Ivy certainly knows how to write an exceedingly good Paranormal New Adult novel! For a fast becoming popular genre, you would think New Adult books would have more paranormal involved with a few of them. Luckily Alyssa writes both kinds: paranormal and contemporary! And when she offered me an ARC of Search, I couldn't say yes fast enough!

I was completely blown away with her Crescent Chronicles series and was over the moon for her Empire Chronicles! Soar was amazing and Search only adds to the ingenuity of this series!

After reading Soar, we all know now that Casey isn't human, not entirely. She's part Pteron and has most of the skills and abilities as the other full blooded Pterons, but she learns that they are a few abilities she lacks, but she's still a powerful sight to behold!

Her love life remains to be utterly complicated. She had the attention of two Pterons before--Jared and Toby--but now she learns that Pterons don't normally become couples with other Pterons. It's simply not done. But as she learns Toby doesn't care about the rules, Jared is more a stickler for the rules. And while this series, or possibly trilogy, is still running strong, I think the answer to who Casey ends up with is answered very early on.

I have to admit that I absolutely love Toby! Of course, he pretty much won my heart in Soar! He's a completely different guy now that he has distanced himself from Allie. He still cares for her, but in the friendly sort of way. Casey is who has his attention now! And oh wow, do these two have chemistry together! Toby is by far the better choice. He has strong feelings for Casey and does anything and everything to make her happy.

Casey learns more about her birth and the all the secrets behind it. There still even seems to be more to know behind it all, but we haven't learned it yet. It was only hinted at. The pacing, therefore, was nicely done. It's another good blend of Casey adjusting to her new side of life, but yet, still trying to live pieces of her old one; job, trying to go back to school and a natural, trying to adjust to a newly found family.

And wow! What an ending!! I was sad to see there's another jilting cliffhanger, but my only problem with those are the wait until the next book! Let's hope it will only be some odd months and not a year to get the conclusion to that bit of info! The story is far from over and Alyssa throws a whopper of a surprise at us! I have to admit, I had an inkling of a suspicion of it during Search, but I was still thrown off kilter when it actually happened! I wasn't putting much stock into my suspicion, to say the least!

Overall, Search was a truly amazing read! I love that Alyssa writes Paranormal New Adult! New Adult is such a rising genre, but most of the ones I come across tend to be contemporary and that's not my kind of read, but she writes them both! Paranormal New Adult is such a treat to read! You get a nice segue between teenager and adult and how their lives roll. Casey deals with real life problems, struggling to earn enough money to get back into college. Alyssa can really blend the normal life tendencies with the excitement of being a newly realized Pteron!

Bring on book 3!

Overall Rating 5/5 stars

I was so excited to get into search book 2 of (The Empire chronicles) I mean that ending of Soar just wow. Search dives straight in from where we was left in book 1, and this changes everything, I loved that surprise and twist Alyssa put in. I had an idea Casey was different but that just blew me away, just made this series even more amazing and exciting. Two words LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So much went on in this book, like it was full of twist, turns, completely action packed. I read this in like a few hours, and was literally clued to the pages till I finished it. We learn so much more about Casey, and we actually find out lots more about her family, we even get to meet one of them in this book. But Casey's background and the answers we get is astounding. Toby is just the sweetest, he melts my heart, the time and care he puts himself through, to find answers for Casey is so incredible. I love how their relationship builds together. It's truly beautiful. Makes me want a Toby, every girl needs a man as caring as he is.

𝙄 𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨, 𝙜𝙡𝙖𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙣'𝙩 𝙥𝙪𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮."𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙚." 𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙚. 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣.

Jared puts himself through it, doing the one thing he said he never do, and now he can't let it go, but he's got to find his way of moving on with his life. We also meet new characters, and again Alyssa lol you are the queen of cliffhangers haha, omg that end was shocking, seriously I can't believe I never worked that out, absolutely jaw dropping.

Again amazing and an extraordinary second book, bring on Stay book 3. I can't wait to see what epic surprises you have waiting for us.

I am a huge fan of Alyssa Rose Ivy's and I love all of her books. The Empire Chronicles is a spin-off series from The Crescent Chronicles. Both are New Adult/Mature YA paranormal romances. I used to love to read paranormal romance, but got kind of burnt out on it, and for the past year or two, haven't read that many books from that genre. I have to say that The Empire Chronicles and The Crescent Chronicles are both in my top ten list of all-time favorites in this category, and have spurred a renewal in my passion for paranormal romance. Alyssa Rose Ivy has written a story that is original and entertaining, which just sucks you up into the world she has created, with characters you will grow to totally fall in love with.

Search is the the second book in The Empire Chronicles series and picks up where Soar left off. Let me just take a minute to tell you how much I loved Soar. Jared was one of my favorite characters in The Crescent Chronicles, so I could wait to see more of him in The Empire Chronicles. The Events in Soar were a mixture of hot, suspenseful, intense, and kept you turning the pages wanting more. We were introduced to Casey, who is one of the main characters in both Soar and Search, and Ivy threw a twist in at the end of that novel that left you dying for the next book in the series. Needless to say, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Search to see where she would take these characters next. The wings you see in the cover are not angels, but Pterons - and trust me, you will want to get to know them better. We get to know more about some of the other shifters in this book also. Another one of the main characters in this book was Toby. Now I did not like Toby much in The Crescent Chronicles, but I did like him in Soar, but he didn't blow me away. In Search, I totally fell in love with him.

At first I wasn't sure I'd be happy with where the romance was going, because I was kind of rooting for the other guy, but I couldn't be happier with where things ended up, not to mention the fact that it was HOT. Jared, who I have loved from the get go, was kind of a jerk in this one, but I still love him, and the author has set the stage for the third book in the series in such a way that I have a feeling he will redeem himself big time, or at least I hope he does, and I can't wait to read it. We also get to see Levi and Allie, who also play a part in Search, as well as a few of the other characters we have come to love. I also really loved the fact that we got to read this from the guys (Jared and Toby's) point of view, as well as Casey's, and Alyssa Rose Ivy did an excellent job in that regard.

If you love paranormal romance, then you will definitely want to read this series. Search is a wonderful and engaging second installment in The Empire Chronicles, and I couldn't recommend it more, especially if you are looking for something fresh and different in the world of New Adult books that are out there.

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Alyssa Rose Ivy's Pterons. I loved the first book in this series, and I was excited for more. But I liked this less than Soar, mainly because of the "love triangle" and the fact that there wasn't enough suspense and danger.

Rating: 4 stars!

I don't know why I really disliked the romance in this book, but maybe because it was so strongly focused on in the beginning. Casey took a few steps back and had to think about the consequences of her choices. She spent so much time thinking about Jared and Toby, about how she regretted sleeping with Jared, and how she wanted a second chance with Toby. I was kind of disappointed a little bit. I was already biased going into this series because of my love for Jared. But it wasn't even just because of that; I was tired of the back and forth. I can understand it, because Casey's whole life has just turned upside down and she doesn't know how to deal with it. She made a mistake, and she wants to rectify it. I was still a little annoyed with the love triangle, probably because I was still a little weary of Toby as a "good" character and I didn't know who Casey really wanted until later on. But by the end of this novel, I was okay with her choice regarding the two boys. It made perfect sense for her and him.

The characters developed even further in this book; some going forward, some going backward. Casey was more bold and confident in herself and her life. Toby was so sweet, so caring; you could truly see that he loved Casey. Jared, though, was portrayed as a huge jerk. I kind of hated him for the things he said to Casey. But, he did grow as a character, one who is starting to see that shutting off his emotions isn't always the best and that he should let people in. There are so many different characters in these books! From Levi and Allie to Owen and Hailey, from Eric and Cade to Casey's grandmother and her father. I liked how they all played a part in this story.

The plot itself was a little dragging, and I felt it wasn't as suspenseful as it could have been. I never had this sense of urgency that something bad would happen until near the end (when everything bad happened!) and I never felt the danger. Throughout the book, Jared and Toby are both trying to figure things out and not talking to each other about their discoveries. There are still secrets, and the book ended on a FREAKING cliffhanger. Seriously horrible cliffhanger!

Overall, I still really liked this book! I just didn't love it as much as the first.

um.
so many mixed feelings
i don't even
*heavy sigh*

Alright here is the thing, this is the second in the Empire Chronicles I haven't wrote my review on book one yet, but I am going to after this one. Here is the thing I liked the first one, actually it was the point i did not want to stop reading it. This one took me a bit longer, I felt it was dragging things out, and pulling me long for certain aspects that i really didn't care for. It that makes sense. There was a lot of self-hatred in this book and a lot of discoveries.

So here is my thing, last book she was way into Toby at the beginning but there was an attraction instantly to Jared, okay you can consider someone else hot, nah big deal, but seriously, what really bothered me was that she was so eager to jump into bed with Jared but always took her time with Toby. I felt it was an unnecessary complication that was dragged out into this book. She is a grown-ish ass woman, so you slept with a guy, he is a douche congrats, forgive and forget. It happened, its done let it GOOOOOOOO. I was annoyed with this in the first book but even more now because it again seemed so unnecessary to me. sorry i will get over that eventually

So in this book it was a lot of sitting on our thumbs just waiting for something to happen. seriously waiting for this thing that was going to happen, everyone knew was going to happen and yet doesn't happen until wait for it, wait for it, wait for it, wait for it (are you getting it yet?) at the VERY END OF THE BOOK! yay! but all the while we are finding out more about Casey and her past, but never learning more about her mother, which i was very very curious about.

It was about Casey and Toby re-solidifying their relationship - good for them ;) but seriously i was just annoyed with Casey in this book. I was put off by the pace. Meeting some of the new characters i can't talk about because of spoilers I was just not very, very pleased with this. I didn't care for how they treated Casey like her opinion didn't really matter, and she sort of let it happen too. There ughhh sorry I am just sort of annoyed with the characters.

And yet i found myself still wanting to keep going, find out who this mysterious boss was and i thought i knew, i was soooo wrong which pleased me. so much! Then i am not sure i want to keep going with the series especially with that ending, because hello cliffhanger, but i also am damn curious to see what happens next. *sigh* i just hope that I don't get mad with the pace or characters in the next one :/

Why I Picked It Up

Search is the second installment in the companion series to The Crescent Chronicles. The first novel was great, so was really excited to read book two.

Plot

Search takes place after we find out that Casey isn’t exactly human—in fact, she has wings. Black ones, in particular. So of course, that creates problems, especially once they find out who her father is. I don’t want to spoil anything so I won’t talk about that point. Nonetheless, it throws a wrench in everything. I thought this installment was definitely more interesting than the previous one, especially because we have a few battle scenes and a kidnapping. It was an intense book.

Leading Lady

Casey was definitely stronger in this novel, especially given all of the knowledge that was being thrown at her. I thought she held up very well and that she handled the situations she was in strongly and bravely. I am interested to see how she will handle the problems that were presented at the end of this book.

Leading Male

Toby was definitely the better of the two in this book. I had favored him before this installment, and even more so afterwards. Jared, on the other hand, is a total flake. My previous description of him as a jerk definitely still stands, and was even proven, in this installment. We see something spark in him, though, towards the end of the novel, which seemed promising and hopefully are, because I would really like to see under the jerkish exterior he presents.

Romance

The romance in this novel was mainly focused on Toby and Casey. To be honest, the possible love triangle has completely been obliterated with what happened to Casey. I liked seeing Toby and Casey together. I though that they complemented each other well, and I love that Toby didn’t just drop her when he found out about her heritage. I thought it said a lot about how he felt for her, and how genuine it was. I am excited to see if their love can overcome the inevitable obstacles they will face in the next installment.

Conclusion

Search was another great installment to what I am sure will be a great novel. With the ending presenting yet another wrench in the plot, I am very interested to see what will happen in book three!

Search is the second book in “The Empire Chronicles” which is a spin-off of “The Crescent Chronicles”. If you have not read the first book in the series Soar than you may want to avoid this review.

At the ending of Soar Casey finds out that she is a Pteron- in reality not just any Pteron but Levi’s little sister. That is right boys and girls she is the long lost sister of the new King of the Pterons. Once her grandma Georgina finds out who Casey is she decides that Casey needs to be living like the princess that she is and swoops in to save the day. Georgina is a character and a half one in which the reader will come to love.

In Soar, we had a love triangle- Casey, Toby and Jared. I have always been a Jared fan so I was cheering for him in Soar. In Search he acts like such a donkey I just cannot be on his side anymore. Once her parentage is revealed, Jared treats Casey like any of his previous girls. Pretty much like crap which leads her back into Toby’s arms. Toby for his part takes her back and doesn’t really seem to mind all the crap that she did at the beginning of their relationship.

Casey is intent on finding her sister Vera- who is with some bear Pterons. Will she like what she finds? Is her sister who she thinks she is? Is Murphy really that big of a threat or is there a bigger one in the horizon? Someone will betray them, but who?

Soar ended in a cliffhanger and a love triangle. In Search the love triangle seems to be resolved but there is another cliffhanger. This cliffhanger threw me for a loop. I was not expecting the big baddie to be who it was. I was literally thrown. It even took me a minute to re-call the person in my head.

Search was a noteworthy sequel to an enjoyable book. The cliffhanger leaves the reader wondering when Stay will be published. What will happen to our favorite shapeshifters? How much trouble is Jared, Levi, Allie and Casey in?

My Rating 3 out of 5 stars

Favorite Quote “Please find a way to forgive yourself. That’s the one thing I can’t do for you, and you know I’d do anything for you.”

Other People
Levi- Casey’s big brother
Allie- Levi’s fiancé
Hailey- Allie’s best friend
Owen- Levi and Jared’s best friend

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book. Man, Jared was a complete and utter a*sehole in how he treated Casey when he found out that she was a Pteron and Levi’s sister. She ended up with the right guy and it makes sense that Nelly, Toby’s witch assistant put power behind the lies she told Casey about Toby not being over Allie since Nelly wanted the power that being with Toby would be like even if he never gave her any reason to think that they’d be together as it didn’t make sense too not even ask Toby if what Nelly said was true or give up on him who she really liked and was heading towards a relationship with to Jared who she knew would hurt her even though she thought he was hot when she was with Toby, plus her being half Pteron her mind can be messed with hence the real reason why Pteron’s only date humans. I loved when it really counted when Levi explained that Casey may be in danger Jared came through and apologised to Casey about what happened between them and agreed to help train her how to protect herself. It was nice to see Jared have a soft spot for a women apart from Allie. I loved meeting Vera, Casey’s sister and loved how happy Georgina was when she found out about Casey. I loved how Georgina locked Robert and Casey in a room so they could talk things out since Robert hasn’t spoken to anyone about the news that Casey is his daughter meaning that he cheated on his mate Helen. Everyone thinks that he knowingly cheated on Helen so I’m glad that after being away at meetings without Helen and waking back up in New Orleans with no memory of what happened and how he got back and received a baby photo he’d already spoke to Helen about everything, so it’s nice to know that Robert isn’t a complete d*ck and that he knows he made so many mistakes with Levi and as well as Casey as his job meant more than being a good father so he wants to start having a relationship with both his children. Wow, I was shocked to find out who The Boss in charge of the Bears are who were after Casey and trying to overthrow the Laurents. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

Now the continuation of the Empire Chronicles.

So now Casey knows she's a Pteron. How is Jared going to respond to this news? How will Toby? Not that she wants to have anything to do with him... or does she?

My heart ached for Toby. Yes that's right. ACHED. And if you read this book, you'll know why it is past tense. Casey has mixed feelings for the boys, and I hate love triangles. But Casey, thankfully, has a brain! And she quickly finds out who is good for her and who she really loves. THough, it wasn't surprising, so I don't think it's a spoiler when I say she chose TOby. ANd yes! I was so happy! But now, beside dealing with her new Pteron powers and training with Hailey, AND dealing with some new knowledge of her heritage and family, and worrying about the bears chasing after her, she also has to deal with the uncertainty and awkwardness of facing Jared.

The whole plot was kind of bland. TO be honest. What really made this book appealing and interesting to me was solely the Romance. And that's... good-ish. If this is just a romance novel. But the thing is, this isn't supposed to be pure romance. SO that does dock a little points off, sadly.

But the good news is that I wasn't completely disappointed. Though it did lack, in my opinion, a stronger plot, it did keep a firm grip on my interest. Things do get more intense and suspenceful toward the end, and that's where the mother-of-all twists occurs. Throughout the whole book, I kept wondering who "the boss" might be. TOby's dead grandfather that is suddenly not-so-dead? Or Vera herself? or even Robert. But this twist changes everything. And it was enough to distract me from the plotline that could have been stronger, but this was the best part. And the ending leaves you with a worrysome cliffhanger. ANd now we got to wait for a looooong time until book 3 comes out. :(

All in all. Four stars. Reasoning: plot could have been better, and could have been less focused on the romance and more on the actual conflict. But despite that, it was a great book and held my interest.

Search definitely had a lot of key things happen that I was hoping for. After what happened in Soar, I was dying to get back into this world of Pterons and see how Casey is handling things. Ivy doesn’t disappoint, this book is packed with paranormal action, intrigue, fun moments, and a good amount of romance. I love that Ivy is able to grab your attention right from the start and keep you engaged until the end.

Things finally pick up for Toby and Casey, but of course, it’s not a smooth ride for them. As the truth about Casey comes to light, she has to deal with accepting the new people in her life, her status, and the fact that others are still out to get her. With all that aside, I really liked the way Toby and Casey’s relationship progressed. They’ve both been through the ringer with past relationships so I liked that they took things slow and you could really tell how much they care for each other. Toby has definitely turned things around and I really like his character.

Jared, on the other hand, I didn’t know what to make of. I guess because I’m on Team Toby, as much as I like Jared, it was hard to see him around Casey. Things are pretty tense between them however and he brings his A game to the story in being a major jerk, but no matter what, I liked how loyal he is to Levi and he really is a good guy. I didn’t know how his story was going to play out, but towards the end, you can kind of guess where Ivy will take his character and I have to say, I’m pleasantly surprised.

The mystery of what the bears want with Casey and what they’re planning against the Pterons is further revealed and even though not much real action happens until towards the end, I was still kept very entertained and happy throughout the book. Search is a great sequel and Ivy continues to be one of my favorite authors. She always leaves me wanting more and I never want her stories to end. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Just to prove how amazing the first book of this series was I found myself breaking my one rule. ‘Don’t read two different books at once’ it always tends to get confusing, but I just couldn’t wait any longer to read the book when it came out. The first book was just shockingly amazing I actually read it in a day. The second book Search came out I love the main characters of this book: Casey, Toby and Jared. Admittedly I still think that Toby is a little whiny and I don’t really know how I feel about him yet. Obviously there is a little bit of a love triangle, but it was more prominent in the first book. By the end of the third book I had decided who I wanted Casey to be with (I wont tell) and at the end of the first book they were together, but of course things happen and now she’s with the other guy!!!! This is probably the only thing that annoys me about the book. It is beautifully written with so much detail about everything. The author has a seriously amazing imagination and I love her stories and her cliff hangers…….just why!!! That’s all I can say. I now realise I have to wait a year for the third book, but I don’t think I can! That’s how good she ends a book. There wasn’t a moment when I was bored, which is probably why I finished it so fast. Both books I admit are quite short but I don’t think it matters much because you just get to the main bulk of the book quicker. I would definitely recommend these books. They are probably one of the best books I’ve read. Hope you liked my review I still don’t think I’m very good at it, but hopefully I will get better with practice :) Any questions about my review or the book it self please feel free to post in the comments. Thanks for taking the time to read my review. :) BYE!
