My name's Heidi Rice, I'm a USA Today Bestselling author. I'm married with two sons (which gives me rather too much of an insight into the male psyche!).
I love my job because it involves sitting down at my computer and getting swept up in a world of high emotions, sensual excitement, funny feisty women, sexy tortured men and glamourous locations where laundry doesn't exist ...
I also tutor a 14-week in-depth online Write a Romance Novel course. So, if you have ever wanted to learn how to write romance from a bestselling author, check it out here: www.profwritingacademy.com/course/wri...
Now I believe wholeheartedly that readers should give honest and open reviews on Goodreads and Amazon and elsewhere. If you didn't like a book you are entitled to say so (even if it's mine! ouch). But you may notice that none of my book reviews are less than four-stars. That's simply because as an author myself I know how pathetically sensitive I am about bad reviews and with that in mind I prefer to spread the love among other authors — and don't do public reviews of books I didn't like. Just thought I'd clarify that!

Despite the negative feedback from other readers, I continued reading this because I saw myself in Kate (except for the lusty part). I was looking for a quick read and tried this one, without bothering to read reviews (I only read them halfway through the story).
So on to the review. The story was surprisingly not bad, I liked Kate because of her independence and her attitude towards life. She wants to earn her money through hard work and not because of sleeping with the boss. Zach is one of those men who always gets what he wants in his own ways, and of course he's a hotel tycoon so he does whatever he wants.
They have their own histories which were interesting, the sex was hot but I didn't like the parts where Kate wasn't able to resist Zach with just a touch or a kiss. Oh well, she's only human. I mentioned earlier this is not bad, but it's not good enough too.
Unconventional. That's the first word that came to mind when I first started reading the first few chapters of this novel. The writing style is more of the chicklit variety than that of a Harlequin novel. I don't see this as a bad thing, it's actually quite refreshing to read a Harlequin novel this way.
I have a bit of confusion when it comes to the characterization. It seems like both hero and heroine suffer from being 'hot one moment, cold the next'. Their ever changing attitudes boggled me, haha. The inner conflict of the hero's backstory is deep but was written shallowly. Same goes with the heroine's back story.
The sex scenes weren't overly graphic, the number and descriptions that of typical Harlequin sex scenes.
I'll look forward to reading more books from this author. Maybe I'll find her other books better.. as for this one, I liked it but I could have liked it more, if you know what I mean.
Great little story. Funny, and sexy. Kate and Zachary meet under unusual circumstances but the spark and chemistry between them was enhanced by the humour and engaging plot. Title though, as usual was dumb.
very light, fun n entertaining ! not the kinda of book u read if u're looking 4 some deep, intense emotions or i mean some serious feelings. both zack n kate had issues from the past but it was not given much importance here. they resolved their issues rather quickly in the end n had their HEA. i loved dat kate was no innocent virgin, she had some good sexual experience n enjoyed sex. she was a confident bed partner. the start was a definite 5 star n zack did seem 2 have acquired a knickers fetish. kate's knickers 2 be more precise !!lol:-P
I enjoyed this book but can't say it was one of my favorites. I loved Kate and her independence but to me it was a bit extreme. She should have told Zack a little about her before. Zack was to pushy for me as a lead. He kept kissing her even though she asked for him not to. I understand the light touches or suggestive words to lurer her but to me it crossed the line a little. It ended well though we never know the name of the baby even though Zack appears in Surf, Sea, and A Sexy Stranger.
Nothing major really. Found the male character a little too controlling and too much of an idiot. I know the whole story is based around him being controlling, but this was a little over the top. Why I give it 2/5 stars.
I enjoyed this HP far more than I expected to. The hero isn't some jerk (although, yes, he's rich as sin). The heroine isn't a virgin, and has her own issues to deal with as well.
I thought it was very well done, from a line I don't usually enjoy much anymore.
This was an enjoyable read. Kate is a personal assistant, but when her boss tries to take it further, she tells him no. He accosts her when she comes out of the bathroom in her underwear and she ends up out of the hotel room banging on the door trying to get back in. She is then taken to the CEO's office as the manager is in training. Zak assumes the worst and gets her story. As she is in his office, her former boss checks out of the hotel with her clothes, her purse, passport and plane ticket home. She gets a job at his hotel working 2 jobs to earn money to get home. Zak cans her and hires her as his personal assistant for a 2 week period for a deal he is trying to make. The rest his history and the angst you get before the Happy Ever After.
