From New York Times & USA Today Bestselling Author, Deborah Bladon.Part One of The Exposed SeriesHarvard student, Sadie Lockwood, was given a second chance and she's determined to make it count. She planned her life out with precision and she refuses to be deterred from her course. She knows what she wants and that is to honor the person who lost their life to save hers. When Hunter Reynolds steps into Sadie's world, she is knocked off of her axis. He's bold, charismatic and intense. She's committed to not let him lead her off her prearranged path but he's persuasive and a little fun never hurt anyone, right? As Sadie sets out on a journey to pull back the layers of Hunter's emotional façade, she begins to question the very heart that beats within her. Will shedding her own inhibitions help Sadie to accept the man she craves or will everything change once all is exposed?
Deborah Bladon has never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She's a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you can often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan is definitely her second home.
She cherishes her family and believes that each day is a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.
Exposed does not start with a strong start. Hunter and Sadie's story is not as addictive. But still, I enjoyed it OK. I wish Miss Bladon gives more plot or twist.
The conversayion between Hunter and Sadie is lukewarm. Especially at their first encounter. I can not help thinking, I need more.
I saw most of the twists coming, but I still found it interesting to read. Maybe I’ll continue the series maybe not.
One thing I really liked was that the main character and her best friend are both NOT virgins and even though her friend sleeps around a bit, there’s never any kind of slut shaming. The main character is basically like “that’s your thing, and this is mine.”
I mean, this is Deborah Bladon's work, right? That's what I thought, too.
I hate the "naive, almost-like-a-virgin girl with insecurities" cliché that the author plays with Sadie.
It isn't cute, believe me.
Hunter is OBVIOUSLY a liar. Any girl with an average IQ would have stayed away from him the second they caught one of his lies. But, no. Sadie isn't a very bright girl now, is she? So she has to agree to meet him, AT HIS PLACE by the way, and jump right into bed with him, not even asking for a proper explanation.
And I saw the so-called "cliffhanger" coming a mile away.
I will finish the series, because COME ON, these are novellas. It will take me, like, 2 hours tops to finish all of them.
Wow, I thought it was going to be so great and I literally could not believe what I was reading. For some reason though, I kept reading, hoping this main character would get a TINY BIT of sense. However, for the 4 books, she had none! Holy crap, HUNTER/ZANDER??? Could a male lead be any more bipolar or a LIAR?!?!??! I can only laugh at myself that I took 4 hours to read these 4 books, 4 that I will never get back.
Holy smokes I can’t believe she dropped this bomb on me! I knew Hunter was lying about several things but I can’t believe he lied about 😬. I’m totally on the edge of my seat now. On to the next book
Sadie Lockwood owes her life to someone she’s never met and has decided to make it count. Everything is planned out. She’s studying medicine at Harvard and she refuses to let anything to deter her course. This is another one of those alpha male stories; he’s dominant, powerful, HOT, controlling... but as always the characters’ pasts collide in the most unbelievable way; what were the chances? Can you call it fate? I totally would. This book literally broke me. Every time a little bit of the truth came out and Sadie was that little bit more exposed and Hunter turned out to be lying that little bit more my heart broke and broke and broke again. The plot is so completely different to anything I’d read before. I felt cut in two; one side I loved Hunter and on the other I just couldn’t completely trust him. It’s easy reading at its best. It’s another serial so be ready for cliff hangers galore but it’s well worth reading; these two characters have stayed with me for years now and I still think back to them often now that Bladon’s world of characters has grown so much.
4-4.5 stars. While I loved Sadie and Hunter together, Hunter was so confusing. He seemed so out of reach and enigmatic, full of sexual promise and nothing else. He wants Sadie without commitment knowing full well that she isn't that type of girl. Then he decides that maybe they could have an arrangement for a temporary period. Later he wants all of her, yet he reveals so very little about himself when it's obvious he is hiding something. Sadie is extremely intelligent, attractive and the sort of person who will do big things in her life because she makes it her purpose to achieve the highest possible goal. Her love life is less lucky so she's self-conscious of Hunter's attraction to her, especially because she knows intimacy will reveal something ugly about herself. I saw the ending coming and that up until that point, the story was good but I didn't know where it was going and now that I do, I'm a lot more interested to continue.
Another great read! Hunter and Sadie were great characters. This series reminded me of the Obsessed series. I enjoyed the similarities with the difference of intrigue. I kind of saw the cliffhanger coming at the end. After reading the Obsessed series, I learned to have all three books before beginning a series by Deborah Bladon because if not, the suspense of waiting will torture you. After reading part one, I was extremely excited to see where part two would take us.
After reading Bladon's Obsessed series I thought it might be time to read more by the author and moved onto Exposed. This time around we meet Jax's old friend Hunter and we get to follow his story with Sadie.
This first book is all about setting the scene so to speak and how Hunter and Sadie meet. In typical Bladon fashion the story ends in a cliffhanger and I look forward to seeing what happens in the next part.
Good writing. Great story line. I believe it deserved 2.5-3 stars because of Hunter's "lack of intimacy." Think about it: Hunter wants to just screw around with Sadie from the beginning. Is that the behavior of someone who is in Hunter's position? (Trying not to spoil the ending here!!) It felt cheap and tawdry; I expected a tad more longing from Hunter.
As I started to read this I thought I wasn't going to like it. It started off slow nothing really going on. Then things started getting interesting and my mind kept wanting more. The ending however took me by surprise and I wanted to scream. Tricky, tricky, tricky. Starting the second book tomorrow because I know I won't be able to put it down.
I have to say this series isn't my favorite from Deborah Bladon. I love her other stories. f#!/ pulse has me tied up in knotts I'm so in love with it. however this series just didn't do it for me. the sex scene to me ( and smut is what I live for) seemed unnecessary and out of place. I finished the series with no loss of love for Deborah Bladon or her mad writing skills.
Another great read, I'm so glad I am able to delve right into the next chapter. I'm not completely fond of a Hunter yet, he's kind of on the arrogant side but I'm sure this story is much more complicated and he has his reasons. I kind of saw the cliffhanger coming a like away though. Still excited to see how the story unfolds.
I've read Alexa's and Kayla's stories before Sadie's and wasn't expecting to like this just was much or even better, but I did. I guess I could connect more with Sadie and man, how obnoxious were Alexa and Kayla back in the day huh!? ...and THAT END. OH. MY. GOD! How will poor Sadie get through it ? I don't know :(
I can't wait for the next book to come out!! I want to read what happens next with Hunter and Sadie. And I love that Ivy and Jax make an appearance in this story.
Wow what a loop. Sadie was annoying almost from start to finish. I like the story and everyone else enough to rate this a 4 but Sadie..ugh. BTW I saw that loop coming. I didn't see it coming out the way it did but I liked it.
Sort of saw what was coming..... The book just wasn't that great. It was a pretty quick read and then it just ended with a bam! I actually won't be reading on even though I'm a tiny bit curios that happens.... But I can probably guess.
Really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series. The only criticism I have is Alexa, Sadie's best friend, she was very irritating the way she was constantly pushing Sadie for information regardless of whether she was ready to or wanted to tell.
Here's what I love about this writer ...her unpredictability . The storylines she comes up with are so original and captivating. You get completely sucked in when you begin reading and just can't stop.
This was a quick read but it is not like all other Romance novels. I really enjoyed the way author got to the point of the story and didn't leave you hanging. This book is really a sweet love story like no other that has just a twist of the evil and lies to keep your mind wondering.
This series is weird but utterly captivating. Even though the books are much shorter than I normally even give a change to read, I'm really glad that I did. It moved at an extremely fast pace but it somehow flowed together very well. I felt compelled to immediately start the next one.
This book catches you from the beginning!!! You won't be able to put it down!!!!! And what a cliffhanger!!! Well written with a very interesting story that has a very big twist (one that will leave your heart hanging!) you'll just fall in love with Sadie and Hunter!!!! Two Thumbs Up!!!!
This one really had all the feels and the intense chemistry between the characters. I enjoyed the storyline in this book and it was full of drama, action and betrayal. It's one of the better books I have enjoyed by Deborah.
