Portland. It's supposed to be a temporary fresh start, a chance to outrun the chaos back in New Haven and regroup. But even the chill of fall can't erase the heat of Nica's anger. It burns hotter than any Portland rain. She's consumed by the need to bring Sophia Falcone down, and I'm caught in the crossfire.
Her obsession is like a wildfire, and I’m desperately trying to shield her from the flames. When Peter Rodgers appears, the billionaire with a haunted gaze and a smile that hides a darkness I know all too well, my worries deepen. What does he want from her? He says he's offering a way in, a path to revenge that could bring down the Falcone empire. But the memory of what we did, Peter, Naomi, and I—it’s a past I can’t outrun.
I can't let Nica get close to him. I can't lose her to the darkness that’s already claimed so much.
Nica
The rain in Portland is like a cold shower, washing away the heat back home. But it can’t wash away the anger burning inside me.
I'm focused on one Sophia Falcone. Her reign of terror has to end. I need to make her pay for everything. But Elio is pushing back, frustratingly so. He wants to protect me, to shield me, wrap me in bubble wrap. He worries about Peter Rodgers where I see opportunity. Peter can give us what we need to bring Sophia down.
Elio doesn't understand me. He doesn't understand my drive, my need for justice. He doesn't understand what it's like to yearn for revenge with every inch of your soul. But he does agree to return to New Haven eventually.
We're going back. The city where it all began. The city where we'll finish it.

"I ate this book up and hated putting it down. - Reader Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I did the silly thing of reading this before Shadow Kings Kiss, which I will have to read to give a better review saying that I loved the book this picks up on the revenge of the deaths of Elio’s and Victoria family members, it’s fast paced lots of plots and twists edge of the seat moments I will have read the first book and then this one in time for The shadow kings Oath
This book was amazing the shadow king’s revenge is book 2 I absolutely love the book so much like I’ve been waiting for this book since I was reading the first book.
Raven Reeves delivers a pulse-pounding sequel in The Shadow King's Revenge, book two of The De Luca Empire Series. This gripping installment plunges deeper into the shadowy world of power, betrayal, and raw, unrelenting passion. If you’re a fan of stories where love and revenge dance a dangerous tango, this book is an absolute must-read.
At its core, this book is about obsession — with justice, with love, and with the past. Elio and Nica's relationship is the emotional anchor of the story, a fierce and tangled connection that’s as frustrating as it is heart-wrenching. Elio's protective nature is endearing but maddening, especially when paired with Nica's razor-sharp determination to bring down Sophia Falcone at any cost. Their push-and-pull dynamic had me emotionally invested from start to finish.
Nica stole the show for me. Her rage, her drive, and her refusal to be caged by anyone — even Elio — made her a standout protagonist. Her pursuit of justice felt personal, raw, and dangerously relatable. There’s something cathartic about following a heroine who refuses to be subdued. Her fire is palpable, and as she faces off against Elio and the enigmatic Peter Rodgers, I couldn't help but root for her. Her need for vengeance isn’t just justified — it’s essential to her character arc.
And then there’s Elio. If you’re a fan of the overprotective, brooding hero who struggles to let his love interest stand on her own, you’ll adore him. His love for Nica is the kind that borders on obsession, and it’s deliciously intense. The emotional weight he carries from his past with Peter and Naomi adds a whole new layer of complexity to his motives. His inner turmoil had me clenching my heart more than once.
Peter Rodgers, however, is the true wildcard of the story. There’s something magnetic about a man with haunted eyes and hidden motives. Every scene with him felt like stepping into a trap, unsure of who would walk away unscathed. He’s as compelling as he is dangerous, and his past connection to Elio raises the stakes tenfold. I couldn’t shake the feeling that Peter is the kind of villain you love to hate but secretly hope gets a redemption arc.
The pacing is relentless. From the rain-drenched streets of Portland to the gritty, familiar chaos of New Haven, every chapter raises the tension. The atmosphere is thick with danger and unresolved desire, which Raven Reeves writes with cinematic precision. The rain in Portland feels like a cleansing storm, but it’s clear that not even the rain can wash away the sins that follow Elio and Nica.
If you’re a reader who loves:
Protective, brooding heroes who can’t stop fighting their feelings Fierce, relentless heroines who refuse to back down Enemies-to-allies (or enemies-to-lovers) tension Plots driven by vengeance, power, and family secrets
…then this book will have you hooked. It’s not just a love story — it’s a battlefield where emotions are as sharp as knives.
Final Verdict: The Shadow King's Revenge is a gripping, emotional, and high-stakes sequel that doesn’t pull its punches. Nica’s obsession with justice, Elio’s battle with his past, and the danger posed by Peter Rodgers come together in a storm of tension, romance, and intrigue. This book will have you flipping pages late into the night, desperate to see how it all ends. If you love love stories that burn with the fire of revenge and redemption, this one’s for you.

What you can count on: 🖤Forbidden romance 🔥Dark Mafia 🖤Morally gray characters 🔥Touch her and 💀 vibe 🖤Steamy scenes
True rating is 3.75 and here’s why: The story picks up where the previous Book left off…. On a mission to continue to seek revenge for the deaths of loved ones in Victoria and Elio’s lives. The book is so full of great plot twists, the returning characters’ well paced developments as well as super steamy scenes that aren’t cheesy or unrealistic! The part that I struggled with , which in the grand scheme of things , aren’t even that bad or that big of a deal, is sometimes I found Elio to be whiny. Like in a “oh my gosh, whatever shall I do” kind of way… so really, not that bad. Victoria continues to be a no-nonsense, bada$$ FMC that I enjoyed in the previous book! Her loyalty to Elio is so strong and their chemistry is scorching hot 🔥 Elio is madly in love with Victoria:
“I curse myself for falling for her. But I love her, I love her with every damn cell in my body, every tense muscle, every thought. She’s in my blood, in my bones.”
And Victoria is just as in love with him as he is with her:
“I don’t just care. I love him. I love him with all my soul, a burning, fiery love. It’s not just a feeling; it’s a force, a current running through me. My breath hitches. It’s like a dam breaking, a flood of emotions rushing over me, all fueled by the intensity of my feelings.”
I enjoyed this story and its HFN ending has left me curious and looking forward to the next instalment in the series, The Shadow King’s Oath.
The Shadow King’s Revenge was quite suspenseful and most definitely a page turning mafia romance. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this mafia romance story from start to finish. I couldn’t put this book down until I read the last page of the story. I was completely captivated by the plot of this book, the wonderful characters, and the final outcome was absolutely incredible. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the story. I enjoyed getting to know the main characters and seeing their story come to life through Author Raven Reeves’s writing. Author Raven Reeves continues to show what an incredible author, storyteller and writer she is with each book that I have read from this author so far. The Shadow King’s Revenge is definitely a book that I would encourage others to read who enjoy mafia romance books. I’m looking forward to reading more amazing romances from this author in the future.

The Shadow Kings Revenge is book 2 in the De Luca Empire series and picks up where The Shadow Kings Kiss left off with Elio and Victoria's story. I love these two characters together! Their love for each other is utterly explosive and as readers we feel the depth of that love.
"She’s in my blood, in my bones."
" I love him with all my soul. A burning, fiery love."
Revenge continues to be high on their list of priorities and Nica has one at the very top of her list. The Shadow Kings Revenge is absolutely fantastic and has all of the danger, excitement, chaos, twists and turns that we love. I can't wait for The Shadow Kings Oath.
"A shadow flickers across his face—something dark, untamed. It doesn’t scare me, though. It’s something I crave: darkness. His darkness."
OMG 😱 this was absolutely a great story. The book cover caught my attention and it was spicy and handsome man. It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was intense and I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. He wanted revenge on his family death and he was going to anything to get to the bottom of the truth. Will he be able to redemption himself. Their romance was forbidden but they couldn’t escape and fight the temptation anymore. Could this be love or chaos. I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. In all honesty it was okay and but I didn't speed through it like I do most books.
Were as in The Shadow King's Kiss I really like Elio and Nica in this one I still liked Elio but Nica annoyed me. Stuff that Elio was doing for all their safety and she was going behind his back and doing what she wanted anyway. I'm not being funny but if the man I supposedly loved tell me to stay away from someone that he know that I don't because he's a bad dude, i'm staying away not taking a trip to his house.

The Shadow King's Revenge is a great follow up and picks up where the previous book stops.
The dynamic between Elio and Nica is a riveting story. After fleeing to Portland to escape harm. Nica is so focused on getting revenge on Sophia Falcone and Elio is focused on protecting them. The need for revenge is going to pull them right back into the life they escaped from.
A good book full of twists and turns, revenge, desire and chemistry.

"The Shadow King's Revenge" is the second book in the De Luca Empire series, continuing the saga of Elio and Victoria from where "The Shadow King's Kiss" concluded. The narrative remains thrilling as revenge continues to drive the characters. There are dangers, excitements, chaos, and unexpected developments in this book. Anticipation is high for the release of "The Shadow King's Oath."

I haven't read the books prior to this one, (I'll have to) but as I understand it it is based on revenge for the death of Elio and Victoria's family members, with a fast pace and many unexpected twists and turns. I loved the chemistry of the main characters and the love they have for each other. Action, suspense, emotion in a mafia environment that won't let you leave your seat. Highly recommended.

This was my first book to read of Raven's. I'm going to find a few more of Raven's books to read and see how those books fair. I usually like a good mafia and enemies to lovers book, but this one didn't seem like an enemies to lovers book. Elio and Nica were already in love when the story started. There were a few plot holes that didn't quite make sense and a few spelling errors. Over all this was a good story. Lovers trying to take down another crime family for crimes against theirs.
The shadow king’s revenge was Elio and Nica’s story. Sophia Falcone. Her reign of terror has to end. Nica needs to make her pay for everything. But Elio is pushing back, frustratingly so. He wants to protect her. He’s worries about Peter Rodgers where she sees opportunity. Peter can give them what we need to bring Sophia down. An intriguing read. I got a copy of the book and voluntarily leaving my review.
Elio and Victoria are back with their Revenge agenda in mind. It was amazing to learn more about Elio and Victoria and their chemistry. Past secrets come out and action plans are made. The whole book had me on edge, wanting to know more and more. It was an intense read and I loved the writing style. I would recommend this book to all Mafia Romance Lovers.
I really enjoyed the first book in the series but I DNF book two. Nica just got on my nerves all through what I did read. She doesn't listen, kept putting herself in dangerous position just prove she is such a B.A. I don't mind strong women but stupid ones just get on my nerves. I have enjoyed many books from Ms. Reeves so this won't stop me from trying again.
Once I started reading this book I didn't want to stop. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. The storyline grabbed my attention from the start and held it all the way through to the very end. Highly recommend reading this book!.

★ “I'm starting to understand that I’m not the hunter but instead the prey.” ★
This second installment of the DeLuca Empire Series is full of the best elements of enemy-to-lovers angst and steam. Revenge for the death of Victoria/Nica’s father is still first and foremost on her mind, and she will risk anything to achieve that goal. What comes next will be interesting!
Book 2 in the De Luca Empire series does not disappoint!! It picks up where it left off in book one and it’s constant action from the get go! Loved the twists in this book. I’m loving Nica’s fire in this book and she is the perfect queen for the shadow king!!
A love that never ends . A connection no one can break. They've been friends since they were young and their love even though it was never spoken while they were young only grew to a love that has become unbreakable
This review is for The Shadow King's Kiss and The Shadow King's Revenge: Fast-paced thrillers with twists and turns, OTT drama, incredibly dysfunctional families, plenty of spice, betrayals, and true romance.
Good second book. The steamy scenes were terrific. I still would have liked to know more about the hook-up at the end (no spoilers...). But an in all a good read for this book two!!
Intense read. I don’t usually read Mafia books, but I did enjoy this story and the characters. A little unrealistic that after being stabbed she didn’t go to the hospital.
