Cindy Claus, the daughter of Santa Claus, has left the safety of the North Pole to open a bakery in the small town of Silver Shoals. Her friend and landlord, Ronnie, makes a public announcement that he is going to change his will to leave her the building that houses her bakery. Before he can finalize the change, he is killed and Cindy becomes a suspect. Luckily Cindy has the support of the handsome medical examiner, Keith Winters, and Artikoa an enchanted arctic fox sent by Santa to help protect Cindy. They all work together to find clues that will prove Cindy's innocence and locate the real killer.

This is a cute, lighthearted cozy mystery with an unworldly, but capable Cindy learning to live independently. Her romance with Ketih is sweet and perfect for a holiday series. In addition to "Arti", the talking fox, this book has a little more paranormal elements in it than the first book. An unexpected enemy of Cindy's father presents a new danger for Cindy, providing additional obstacles to Cindy's new life. This is a fun book that sets up potential storylines for future books. It wraps up with recipes for sweets like apple dumplings and cinnamon rolls that are mentioned in the story.

I received an advance copy of this ebook from the author, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.

Cindy is finally settling in and adapting to her life as a baker, and she loves it! Unfortunately, while checking on a friend, she finds a dead body.

Come along  with Cindy for a delightful, light holiday read. You don't want to miss this lovely book! It's perfect for all of the occasions when you only have a few minutes at a time to escape, but will want to return as soon as possible. I absolutely love this author, and this book has been a welcome addition to my library.

Cute second installent of Cindy Claus, the daughter of Santa Claus, and her small town bakery. Silvertale is great at creating small little towns you wish you could visit. She is also a master at creating animal side kicks that the reader ends up loving more than the people. She definitely did that again with this story! I adore Artikoa!

While the story itself didn't live up to her Mitzy Moon series, it was still enjoyable and would be perfect for a quick Christmas time read. I can't wait for more books so we can watch the characters develop, the world build, and the relationships bloom.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from Great Escapes Book Tours. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Apple Dumpling Murder by Trixie Silvertale is a well-written holiday mystery.

Will Cindy Claus determine what happened to Ronnie before she gets sent back to the North Pole?

Cynthia Cherubim Claus
Our sleuth is Cindy Claus. Yes, she is related to Santa Claus. However, she would prefer that people don't know that tidbit about her. Cindy is a baker, and she bakes fantastically delicious pastries. She lives with an Arctic fox who is also an advisor to her father.

Her neighbor happens to be the local medical examiner, which makes it easier for her to investigate a murder. Not that Cindy wants to be involved in murders. But perhaps being involved with her neighbor might be fun.

I like Cindy. She is sweet, innocent, and super cute. Although she has no idea how to act around humans, she does her best to fit in. I think she is doing a good job. However, Cindy is still learning to handle her daily needs, as she hasn't gotten the hang of cleaning up after herself.  I find it endearing that she isn't perfect.

The Mystery
Cindy's landlord is murdered after he announces that he is leaving the bakery building to Cindy instead of his family. She tries to talk him out of that, but he doesn't listen to what she says. After a few hours, Cindy has a minute and decides to go talk to Ronnie; when she gets to his house, he is already dead. Ronnie is the first person close to Cindy that has passed away. Cindy's grief is real, and at times, it is hard for her to keep going. Yet, she teams up with Keith to find the culprit before Christmas, especially since she is one of the suspects.

Five Stars
My rating for Apple Dumpling Murder by Trixie Silvertale is five stars. I love the humor and real-life traits that Ms. Silvertale incorporates into her characters and the events that happen in their lives. I highly recommend this book to all.

There are even some delicious-sounding recipes at the back of the book that I can't wait to try out this holiday season. Those recipes are Holiday Apple Dumplings, North Pole Gooey Caramel Cinnamon Rolls, Santa's Surprise Peanut Butter Cookies, Cranberry-Orange Yuletide Scones, and Christmas Carrot Cookies.

Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of Apple Dumpling Murder by Trixie Silvertale.

The daughter of Santa Claus running a bakery in a small northern town? Well, you’ve got my attention. I love a bit of magical realism in fiction (which is really what I’d classify this series as, rather than paranormal, despite a brief ghost sighting), and there’s definitely a lot of magic surrounding the world of Santa Claus. Couple that with my love of cozy mysteries, yummy baked goods, endearing heroines, and – of course – Christmas, and I definitely wanted to read Apple Dumpling Murder!

Cindy Claus is cute as a button and kindhearted, and her adorable innocence when it comes to the human world made me smile. It’s not over the top though – all of her ‘fish out of water’ moments make sense when you remember that she grew up as Princess of the North Pole and has no clue about dating or funerals or sarcasm/idioms. I also loved her Christmasy expressions of surprise or frustration, and I’m sure it won’t be long in this series before she really does slip up and reveal her actual identity. Her guardian, an arctic fox who doubles as her father’s trusted servant and appears as a dog to the people of Silver Shoals, added an interesting element to the story, as did her neighbor (and medical investigator) Keith who also acts as the series’ romantic interest.

The mystery in Apple Dumpling Murder is layered, despite the fairly quick nature of the read, and the more we uncovered the less sure I was about how it would all play out. Even if I had been confident that I knew who the culprit was, I could never have predicted where the author was going to take the story from there. Having Keith as a member of law enforcement helps lend believability to Cindy’s involvement, and Cindy’s ability to sense whether someone is ‘naughty’ or ‘nice’ made narrowing down the suspect list even more fun.

Bottom Line: Apple Dumpling Murder by Trixie Silvertale is charming and festive and just plain cute. It’s a pretty fast read so the mystery doesn’t go too deep but it’s layered enough that you’ll enjoy trying to solve it. The author does a good job of balancing the fantasy elements with the clues and red herrings, tying it all together with the endearingly adorable Cindy Claus and her ‘fish out of water’ learning curve. Recommended for fans of Hallmark movies, short mysteries, Christmas, and Elf.

It is not always you can say a murder mystery can be endearing! But this second book in the Christmas Catastrophe series is just that! Cindy Clause, Santa's only daughter was destined to carry on Santa's legacy when he couldn't any more. But she had different ideas. She loved baking and she wanted to see if she could live among the humans and open her own bakery. Well, having learned some ways to get by, she is still so naive that there are some very humorous times. Her first friend, Ronnie is the owner of a bakery his wife had until her demise and also the landlord of the building. So, he rented her the room above the bakery along with the bakery so she could open her own. He also gave her the gift of his wife's cookbooks. Her neighbor in the other apartment across the hall is Keith, a medical investigator who seems to have taken a liking to Cindy and laughs at her faux pas like she is making a joke. The caveat that Santa gave to Cindy is that for her protection, he was sending Artikoa, her arctic fox, who fa is actually an elder to look out for her and often tries to cover up her gaffes. In this book, her beloved friend and landlord, Ronnie wanted to change his will to leave the building and shop to Cindy. She tells him not to but to leave it to his nephew, he's family after all. When he is not found where he usually is, Cindy went to his house to talk him out of leaving the building to her. BUT, she found him dead and called the police and Keith came too to investigate as well. Of course, Keith knows how hard this hit her but the police chief has her as his prime suspect. So with Keith and friends, she must find the real murderer to clear her name. And since it is near to Christmas, her father will be coming for a visit. What a wonderful, well written book with the cutest main character trying to fit into the human world. And Keith seems to want to have a relationship with Cindy. I just couldn't put it down once I began. I highly recommend the first and this second book and can't wait for more. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Apple Dumpling Murder was such an enjoyable follow-up to Peppermint Cookie Murder. This sequel brings us right back into the life of Cindy Clause—Santa’s daughter—who’s still carving out her independence while running her bakery in the small town of Silver Shoals. Her sidekick Arti, the snarky but loyal Arctic fox who originally served as Santa’s advisor, is right there beside her as she gets caught up in yet another cozy paranormal murder mystery.
What I really appreciated was how different this book feels from the first one. While many familiar faces return, several characters who were barely mentioned in book one step into larger roles here, giving us a deeper look into the town and its residents. Even though the story picks up a full year later, nothing feels missing—the transition is smooth, and it’s extremely easy to follow.
This was one of those quick, cozy reads that I finished in a single sitting—just under two hours, thanks to having zero interruptions. The pacing stays light and enjoyable while still keeping you pulled into the mystery.
One of my favorite aspects this time around was the bigger paranormal element. We get to learn a little more about Arti, and the book starts nudging at the idea that he might not be just a talking Arctic fox from the North Pole. Is there more to him than he’s letting on? You’ll have to read the book to find out—but the hints were definitely intriguing.
The ending brings some exciting revelations for Cindy, and I can’t wait to see how they shape her future in the human world. Will she be able to keep her true identity and abilities a secret from everyone—especially Keith? There’s something building between those two, and I’m really hoping book three gives us even more of that dynamic.
Overall, Apple Dumpling Murder is a charming, magical sequel that expands Cindy’s world in all the right ways. I’m absolutely looking forward to diving into the next chapter of her story.

This is the 2nd book in the cozy mystery series which is all about christmas and Cindy Claus, santa's own daughter, who left the North Pole to live her life amongst humans, doing what she loves best. She opens a bakery and cafe treating all her customers to excellent delicacies. She is overjoyed when Ronnie, her ageing landlord promises to change his will to leave her not only her bakery but the rest of the building. He is the kindest man ever, her first human friend who even shared his dead wife's baking books with Cindy. However before Ronnie had time to change his will someone kills him and Cindy ends up being the prime suspect who comes up before lawenforcement. Now Cindy is jolly, kindhearted and very naive, especially where human ways are needed, she really has no clue. Artikoa, her arctic fox, who in fact is a venerable elder sent by her father to look out for her, often tries to cover up her gaffes, but he does not always manage. She is driving Keith, her neighbour, who she is falling in love with crazy but he takes it all in stride and good fun, not realising what she says is real. Cindy and Keith embark on a whodunnit search to clear her name off the suspect list, but poor Cindy is really not up to what happens next!! This is another solved mystery case, but boy was it terrifying for poor Cindy, I would not have liked to be in her shoes either!! I look forward to more romance maybe in the following books!

Santa's sweet-natured daughter Cindy left the North Pole to experience life in the human world but continues to get more than she bargained for in this super cozy whodunnit!

Silvertale's books have become some of my favorite comfort reads. I can always count on them for escapist fun and an intriguing mystery. This series hits all the right notes for me: a charming small town, a fun premise, a likable sleuth, a wise and witty animal companion, a paranormal element, humor, and puzzling mysteries.

Cindy is sweet, innocent, and a fish out of water. She is learning about life in the human world with help from her father's trusted Arctic fox, Artikoa. We learn more about him in this book. He is a unique, magical creature and something of an enigma even to Cindy herself, and I enjoy their dynamic and banter. Cindy's love interest, Keith, is also a fantastic character, and the way he responds to her naivety is adorable, even though he doesn't know who she really is yet. I also enjoy the cameos from Santa himself,

The magic and creatures in this series are intriguing, and the world-building progresses with each installment. The revelations about the magic add a fun layer to the plot, balancing well with the romance and mystery. Well-written and fast-paced, this is a delightfully cozy way to spend an afternoon. Delicious recipes are included, and I cannot wait to see where Silvertale takes these characters next.

Oh my gingerbread, this book was SO much fun! Imagine Santa’s daughter, Cindy Claus, running a bakery in the human world. This adorable mystery has everything: a magical arctic fox sidekick (hello, Arti!), an aging landlord who promises to leave Cindy the bakery... and then he winds up dead!

Cindy is the sweetest, but also totally naive when it comes to human slang and customs, which leads to all kinds of hilarious moments. Watching her navigate this murder investigation with her heart of gold and clueless charm had me smiling the whole time. She’s trying to figure out life, love, and how not to be accused of murder!

I loved the humor, the festive vibes, and the blossoming friendship (and maybe something more?) with Keith, her neighbor. The mystery kept me guessing, and the recipes at the back sent me straight to my favorite bakery. Seriously, you’ll want to snuggle up with a cup of cocoa while reading this delightful Christmas cozy.

If you’re into charming heroines, talking foxes, holiday magic, and murder with a sprinkle of sugar, grab this book! Cindy Claus is the ultimate feel-good sleuth, and I’m already itching for the next adventure. This series is the perfect mix of mystery, whimsy, and heart!

I received an advance copy of this book. Opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

I enjoyed this Christmassy mystery so much. This is the second book in the series. I love Cindy Claus and her artic fox, Artikoa. Cindy is getting accustomed to her life away from the North Pole and the running of her bakery. She has much to learn and her blunders are a part of the charm. Cindy is a sweet, kind and innocent person with a secret. Artikoa, a much wiser and protective character, helps her keep her secret and keep her safe. Keith Winters, her neighbor and medical investigator, is a friend with potential boyfriend vibes. I am enjoying their relationship. Cindy is a bit new to dating so this offers a unique storyline. I don't like to go into the mystery as I think it is best to enjoy it without input of fellow readers. Suffice it to say that I enjoyed it and was a bit surprised by the ending. I am definitely looking forward to future books in this series.
There are several delicious recipes included. If you are looking for a treat to bake be sure to check them out. They are located after the story.
My review is voluntary and is based on an electronic ARC of this book. My opinion is based upon my honest feelings while reading it and how I felt afterwards.

Cyndi Claus is enjoying her life in the human world baking sweet treats for the town. Her bakery, with the building owned by her first friend in town, Ronnie, is quite popular, and when he announces that he plans on changing his will to leave the building to her, that’s when things get interesting. The next morning, he is found, by Cyndi, dead. And her fingerprints are on the murder weapon. But who was the actual murderer, and why?

This was the second book in the Christmas Catastrophe series. I read a review copy and enjoyed it a great deal. Ms. Silvertale, as always, has written a fun and entertaining cozy mystery. In this book, she has interwoven several holiday legends, traditions, and stories of the season and also provided us with some tasty sounding holiday dessert recipes. While I have not yet tried making any of them, they do sound delicious.

If you enjoy reading cozy mysteries, stories involving Christmas, Santa Claus and other seasonal traditions and legends, as well as any of the other books written by Ms. Silvertale, then you are very likely to enjoy this book. And if you enjoy baking, you will want to try making some of the recipes included in this book.

I absolutely adored this quick Christmas read, starting and finishing it in one day! While this is book two in the Christmas Catastrophe Mysteries, it’s the first I have read. And yes, as soon as I finished, I purchased book one (Peppermint Cookie Murder) for my kindle and added it to my festive reads TBR for the coming months.

Here we have Santa’s daughter, Cindy Claus, running a bakery in the human world. She’s funny and quirky and magical and kind. Did you see the 2019 Noelle movie? This book gave me the same fun, heartwarming vibes, despite the murder mystery Cindy must solve. And of course there’s a magical sidekick – an arctic fox.

This was the perfect magical escape with a lovely mix of mystery and humor and Christmas cheer. Yes, you have to suspend your disbelief as you dive into this paranormal cozy mystery, but as I have said before, that’s one of the main reasons I read – to enjoy something totally different than real life! Readers looking for a pause from the day to day business of the season or who are looking for a little Christmas spirit, should purchase this as a holiday treat for themselves. We all need treats! This also includes yummy recipes.

Cindy is still small town living her best life as a bakery owner but finds herself in the middle of irritation when her landowner informs he’s leaving the building to her in his will. Cindy immediately isn’t wanting to step on toes, mentioning his children but his children don’t even talk to him. So when the cousin confronts her in anger driven by money issues, Cindy goes out to fix things, only finding Ronnie murdered in his own home. Second murder, second time she is the #1 suspect. She continues with Keith’s faith she is not guilty and helps him with the case, him being the medical owner. She’s instantly finding who she assumes is the culprit after clearing Ronnie’s cousin or nephew or whichever. But when the culprit confronts Cindy, she is amazed to witness the woman transforming into Krampus. Her trusty artic fox companion also surprises her by coming to her defense as a transformed yeti-type creature, causing Krampus to disappear.

I really like Cindy. She kind of stumbles her way through the human world and learns as she goes. When the owner of her building makes an announcement that he will be leaving the building to Cindy in his will. She immediately tells him that she doesn't want him to do that. The building should go to his relatives. When she goes to his home, she finds him dead. She really loved the old guy, and she knows nothing of death, so it was a big shock. Of course she is a suspect, but so is his cousin. The cousin has more of a motive, but Cindy knows he wouldn't do anything like that. As she snoops around, she finds a few other likely suspects. The real killer is someone she never would have suspected. It is almost Christmas Eve, and she is awaiting her father's visit. This year he brings her something extra special.

Cindy Claus is Back and Baking Up Adventure

Cindy Claus is back n Silver Shoals and doing her best to live her dream, she has her bakery doing great business and is happy to bake all day long. Unfortunately during this time she also learns a lesson about humans she would have gladly skipped over, Cindy loses a friend and finds out what sorrow is for the first time in her life, not only that but she finds out that her friend has been murdered. Well as you all know this is just the beginning of an adventure for Cindy and believe me, you don’t want to miss a second of this story. So since you are a true fan of Cindy’s father, I recommend you get this book and read it to the end, you will never be sorry when you visit Cindy and all her family and friends. Oh and I almost forgot, I Wish All Of You Readers A Very Happy Holiday Season!!!

Cindy Claus has loved living in the human world with her arctic fox companion. She enjoys running her bakery; she's happy when her landlord takes her under his wing and she treasures their friendship. Then he tells her he's going to leave her the bakery in his will, but he's killed before he makes the change. Of course, Cindy becomes a prime suspect and must prove her innocence. Can she find the real killer or will all be lost?

This is the second book in the series and I really enjoyed it. This was a well-written book with wonderful characters and fast-paced plot. I was drawn into the captivating story immediately and simply didn't want to put it down. It was a quick, fun read with magic and an intriguing mystery. Trixie Silvertale is an amazing author and storyteller whose books are a joy to read. I loved this book and am looking forward to the next one.

I love the warmth of this series. If only everyone were like Cindy! This is a short story so I don't want to spoil the storyline by revealing too much. So, Cindy Claus isn't like everyone else and is learning bit by bit how humans work and she comes across a wide variety during her day.

For the most part, people are kind and she has a great friend in Keith, their friendship is slowly blossoming. When someone close to her is murdered fingers are pointing in all directions, including at her. Was she framed, if so, by who? Little pieces come into play as more is unwrapped about those around her as she learns that not everything is sweetness and light and not all are who they appear to be on the surface. I loved the end of this cozy and look forward to the next.

Cindy is opening a bakery and her friend and landlord Ronnie is so pleased that he gives her his wife's recipes and secrets. She makes it a success by creating wonderful treats and when she hears he is leaving not only the bakery, but the building to her, she hurries to see him and encourage him to leave the building to his nephew. She feels that would be the right thing to do. When she gets to his house, she finds him murdered. This puts her in the number one suspect slot so she begins to investigate. The next in line is his nephew, who she feels to her bones that he is innocent. This is a delightful mystery, one with twists and unexpected turns.

The absolutely sweetest Christmas gift from Trixie, book 2 in the Christmas Catastrophe Murders takes us back to Cindy Claus and Silver Shoals. I just adore the worlds that Trixie creates and Silver Shoals is no exception. A cozy mystery with wonderful characters and an intriguing mystery sprinkled liberally with Christmas magic, this is the perfect story to curl up with on a cold day. No bad language or explicit scenes make this suitable for most people in my opinion and the delicious recipes in the back are a lovely added bonus! This is part of a series so if haven’t read Peppermint Cookie Murder then definitely start there. Highly recommended.

I love this series! Cindy Claus is equal parts sweet and sassy! Her journey in the human world is full of funny misunderstandings and lots of happy accidents. This is only the second book, but I already feel like Silver Shoals is a familiar location due to the great descriptions of the town and its inhabitants. The supernatural twist of Santa folklore keeps the story fresh and interesting. My favorite line from this book-
“My mother always told me if you don't have something nice to say, it's best to eat a cookie. That doesn't sound exactly right, but you know what I mean.”

I can’t wait for the next installment in this series!

This is such a charming read! Cindy Claus is Santa's naive daughter who has left the North Pole and is running a successful bakery. Too bad murders continue to interrupt her business plan!

The murder mystery is solid, with a couple of surprises. I like that Cindy and the medical examiner, Keith, are getting closer while investigating. The paranormal aspects are much more forward this time, and it will be intriguing to discover how Cindy will navigate a new skill. Artikoa has more secrets than expected for an arctic fox, and a certain artifact belonging to Keith has me giving him some serious side-eye! Trixie Silvertale has me eager to know what's coming.

A cute story with a very puzzling murder mystery.

Amazon synopsis:

With suspicion instantly falling on the budding baker, Cindy must rely on her fragile new friendships and her father’s trusted arctic fox. She’ll have to sidestep local law enforcement as she gathers crumbs, and one wrong move could crush her dreams…

Can Cindy find the proof she needs, or will this villain punch down her last hope?

I devoured this one so quickly!!!!! Loved it!

Cindy is gearing up for her favourite holiday - Christmas. However the holidays aren’t going as planned when she discovers the dead body of her friend and landlord, Ronnie. With the help of medical inspector, Keith, can Cindy solve this before Christmas?

I read this one in a day and I loved it so much. I’ve tried reading another cozy series with the Claus family and couldn’t get into it. I’m glad I’ve given this one a try because the first two books are fantastic.

Perfect for mystery readers that like Christmas year round!

I enjoyed this second story and am glad to have read it. The main character, Cindy, is still making a few minor blunders as far as her interaction with the human world goes, but nothing the humans cannot see as sarcastic humor. The plot is easily followed and the premise is finding out who killed her friend and landlord and why. The answers were fantastical and she is saved by a mystical guardian. I definitely recommend this book and the first one. I am also looking forward to the third and final book in the series.

This series is becoming a sweet (readers of the books will get this pun) Christmas series. Cindy, daughter of Santa and Mrs. Claus, has spent another year in Silver Shoals among humans. She is somewhat relatable to me as she doesn't always know what to say so she either doesn't say anything or says the wrong thing. Take my advice and read this book and series during the holidays.....or anytime of the year.

I loved this book so much!

The opening draws me into the story, it immediately carries that excited feeling, Christmassy and cozy. I really like Cindy and Keith together, they’re sweet, and I feel their bond. I thought the mystery was great and the magic used was intriguing. I love how Cindy’s bond with Artikoa seems to be growing. I was very much impressed by this book!

One of Cindy Claus’s friends die and she is a suspect again. She needs to get to the bottom of the mystery while trying to figure out the human world with her protector Arti. She works with the investigator who makes her blood heat up. This is such a cute Christmas cozy complete with some yummy recipes.
