No one on Phaethon has ever dealt with someone as resourceful as Tom. And no one there has ever had quite this many resources to defend their homestead . . .

Particle Two is the second book in the Star Farmer series by Jaxon Reed and just as much fun to read as the first book, Tom Savage. Particle Two took me by storm from the first page and I hung on on every page as I raced to the end, unable to turn the pages as fast as I wanted.

I loved reading more about Tom and his way of life. There were plenty of battles and brawls to keep the pages turning. The action just kept on rolling out from one page to the next. I love the world that was created for Particle Two.

The descriptions were so well done I had no problem seeing the planet, the ships, and the characters as they went about their lives. I enjoyed every minute of it. I could easily see every character as they fought battle after battle. I love the nanobot tech knowledge and how it could rejuvenate things.

I loved the banter between Tom and Gwen. Tom is a wonderful character and I can’t wait to read more about Tom and his way of life in future books in the Star Farmer series. I love the mix between Western and science fiction.

I highly recommend picking up a copy of Particle Two but I do suggest that you read the first book Tom Savage before reading book two Particle Two. The first book in the Star Farmer series, Tom Savage introduces Tom and how he began his new life on a new planet.

Tom and Gwen are back for another fun adventure that reads like a mix of tech and a western. Quite a few of the supporting cast is back and so is trouble and danger with a surprise guest that makes a big splash. Tom is busy doing his thing and Gwen is right beside him enjoying the fun. And then the bad guys try their usual thing and the story gets really entertaining. Some action, drama, surprises and all round entertaining.

Wow…

This author never ceases to amaze me. He builds a believable world right around the reader so that we feel that we are actually there experiencing it all firsthand. The blending of high-tech and a cowboy western in this one is brilliant and actually believable! As always, the storyline is action-packed and exciting as it races along, leaving the reader confident that Tom Savage will somehow get us out of the messes we stumble into. And Tom’s “toys” are fascinating and add even more spark to the story. You can never miss with this author. He will take you on the ride of your life and eventually bring you back for the next adventure. So grab your copy and immerse yourself into one of the best reading experiences you will ever survive… uh, I mean enjoy! And don’t worry… there is plenty more excitement on the way!

Tom, Gwen, and Timmy are back for another installment in their Phaethon adventure. This picks up where Tom Savage left off, with Tom continuing his star harvest experiment. There is more building out of the high tech/wild west world, which is quite enjoyable. Of course, the Ever Riders haven't given up on causing trouble for Tom and Gwen, and Tom's resourcefulness in dealing with their escalation of the fight is always enjoyable. There's also a new phenomenon of a giant dust storm to deal with, which only adds to the adventure.

Like all the previous titles in this universe, this is a great, fun ride, and it's over all too soon. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Full disclosure: I received an ARC of this title and this review is voluntary.

Good sci fi adventure

But there is too much carnage for my tastes. I enjoyed Timmy, Lisa, and the bots in the first book, as well as the story of a young man making his way on a new world (with a little unexpected help from family and "friends"). I like Tom and Gwen. Wink isn't a good person; he knows what he is selling could easily devastate the colonies on Phaeton. I will read Farm Hand with hope of the return of experimentation and discovery.

Adventure continues

Alternate universe, SF advanced technology, space opera

Tom and Gwen and their friends are targeted by the Ever gang. Plenty of action. Excellent editing. Okay, I'm hooked.

An enjoyable space Western

This is a story of a young man and his female friend on a homestead on a remote planet that has fallen back to the 1880s in terms of technology. He has a lot of new technology, and is finding out what works and what doesn't where he is. This is ingenious storytelling, it's a lot of fun, and I will definitely read the next book in the series.

Fun story

This is a fun fast-paced series. I love the easy character development and the integration of high-tech in an old west setting. Keep them coming

Book 2 in the series

Another young adult book this time with some mature language and a bit of violence but only implied sex. The bad guys are nasty. A great story.

Reboot necessary

Okay, first off, there are some brief references to a desire to commit sexual assault by the villians. Nothing so far detailed.

Most of the first two books have been light weight action and slice of life. Seems oriented to young adult readers (maybe younger than college age, except for the SA references).

Good side takes on bad side. Everyone loses a lot.

Young fellow early on continues building his homestead. Bad old guy, with reputation of bullying entire towns decides he wants what young guy has.

Not everyone wins.

Smugglers are new characters who add to the violence. So far they seem to get away with it.

Science project once again needs expensive replacement.

Will there eventually be a Happily Ever After (HEA)?

Guess we keep reading to find out.

Frontier farming on a new world has gotten both more traditional and more high-tech, particularly for Tom Savage and his expanding enterprise. This has all the day-to-day detail of "Little House on the Prairie" as told in the vein of Robert Heinlein's "Farmer in the Sky" mixed with the action and excitement of Max Brand's Silvertip books. Again, I am enjoying the fun mix of the science fiction and western genres in this series.

I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a good story, better than the first book in the series. The characters are fully formed and interactive, the plot is straightforward, the atmosphere is a lot like the old west, here in North America, and the plot is stopping a mercenary band from taking over the nearby city, killing off the Rangers, and taking out our main characters, just to get hold of an illegal and dangerous gun. The answers did not favor the band. I definitely recommend this book.

It’s Not Bad

The storyline while not compelling, is mostly a good read. Some scifi scenes rely on magic tech, and Tom’s wealthy off-planet family certainly provides a comfortable support line for Tom and Gwen. The action scenes tend to be a bit over-the-top, with significant collateral damages, but our protagonists manage to survive, so there is that. Book 2 resolves some story threads, and the rest will continue in the next installment.

Good Enough

Decent story, and I still like the MC. Unfortunately Gwen is not very likeable, she is spoiled, and takes advantage of people. This book has a fair amount of boring parts, so I just skimmed them. Getting ready to read book 3 of the series.

Nope

Not a bad story but the enemies has, more going for it than Tom does . Blew up Toms house with his friend in it .I wonder if Tom will gain smarts or remain a bit dumb regarding combat

Again short but good

These books seem quite short, but they're good little stories. I wish more were combined into a single novel. However this is what we get so still fun.
