4.5🌟 I am actually upset with myself for taking so long to finish this book. I guess reading while sick wasn't the best decision. This book was incredible, I was completely sucked in, I kept trying to figure out what was going to happen, and the writer kept taking me for a run.
The only negative point for me was the big chapters, but by the end of the book, the story is going so fast, and u so into it that I didn't even care about the long chapters anymore 😂.
I can't wait for book 2 because I need answers so bad 😫.
I loved this book. I LOVED this book. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!Been in a book slump for the longest time, and this was just what I needed. Warnings are no joke - I wasn't sure if I wanted to carry on once I read the 1st bully scene... but I pushed through and man am I glad I did. It was so intense that the rest was totally okay in comparison!!!! If you can make it past that scene you will not regret it!
I also love a H when he has NO SHAME in broadcasting how he feels about the h. Until I read this book I didn't realise how refreshing and sexy it is when they OWN their feelings... And boy - Gant doesn't have a shy bone in his body!!! I kept thinking that it was a typo, his name being Gant, I kept reading Grant... Just me???
Anyway - can't wait for the next book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's gonna be LIT!!!
I have read dark " enemies to lovers " romance books and thought they were good . However this is the second one I have tried that goes so far beyond anything that could be perceived as " entertainment " Very early in this book the main male character humiliates the female.....THEN he spits and urinates on her in a group of people . I have to wonder who edits and approves publishing of this garbage . It sets a dangerous precedent. I had to give it 1 star to be able to write a review . I don't recommend this book to anyone .
First, the warnings from the author are no joke. The bullies are closer to black than morally grey. However, their behavior plays well within the story line and the writing is superb. The book moves along quickly and as the characters play out, the reasons behind their actions soften.
Our book centers around Eloise, whose passion is ballet, which is a huge part of her escaping her life of poverty and dread. Dancing is more than a tool as she feels her best when dancing. It is her true north where others' expectations and worries for her mother, are forgotten. Eloise does not have the typical slim build of prima ballerinas. She is big boned with a curvy body type. It's her biggest insecurity and though she was the best at her public school, when comparing against the effluent academy dancers.
We are first introduced to Gant when they meet at a renowned dance studio after winning a contest. The teacher is highly critical of Elle's talent, and she starts to lose faith in her abilities. On the last day, she meets Gant who is an outstanding dancer and give her tips on her strengths and weakness. This short lesson soon starts a cascade of horrific events that have Elle and her mom fleeing the town.
Gant believes Elle is responsible for what happened. He becomes obsessed with finding her and after two years he sees her during an interview about the closing of the dance at her new school. Gant is determined to get his revenge despite being both full of conflict for his disgust and attraction to her. He arranges a bogus scholarship so as to ensure she spends her senior year at his school.
Gaun wastes no time in humiliating her physically and verbally in front of the student body. These actions were to shock her and let the students know she was his and encourages the girls to "have at it" in their bully behavior. It also sets the tone for the hell Eloise is going to spend her senior year. While Elle could leave, Gaun knows she is impassioned about ballet and sees it as is her only way to build a better life.
The lengths Gaun goes to wreak vengeance is some of the darkest I've read. Elle gradually realizes things about her sexuality from Gant. She too is both disgusted and attracted to Gaun. These characters begin to look beyond the past and towards a future. This is not a seemingly graceful transition. Its raw and gritty much like their passion for each other. They are the poster children demonstrating that love, and hate are so very close.
The secondary characters are layered and complex. Gaun and his 4 friends are the kings of the school which is used to the fullest by the author. These 4 friends clearly have stories of their own and we are offered glimpse into what they be.
While this is a very dark book, none of the behavior seems beyond the reasonable. The story is fast paced and multi-faceted. The pain and torment that Gaun feels at having his life irrevocably change that first meeting with Elle is vivid. The author does a wonderful job of giving a glimpse into what occurred and what it meant to him. The same is done for Elle. And it's through those moments, we see why he feels the way he does.
Elle does not know anything about what happened after her and her mom rushed out of town so frantically. The quality of the high school program she now attending is second grade at best. But she a star here and easily the best dancer they have. When she receives that scholarship, it appears her prayers have been answered. Gaun knows nothing about the abuse and trauma Elle has suffered from her father. Her mother's unwillingness to let go of the marriage is disgusting and hurtful to Elle. However, she loves her mom and continues trying to reason why she choose dad over her daughter.
This book is full of passion, vengeance, grief and letting gilt go. The emotions are so well written that the readers feel the pain, the passion and the growing love and understanding. I could not read fast enough as I was so engrossed and committed to reach the end.
I cannot wait until the next book in the series comes out. It will be one of my automatic purchases. I urge you to submerge yourself into this world.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Talk about a bee up your skirt to get your blood flowing. ‘Swallow Your Sorrows’ is an edge of your seat, gripping, can not put it down until it’s done, then click ten times to make sure there aren’t hidden pages because you WANT there to be hidden pages because you don’t want it to end kind of book. Seriously. And I’m not giving anything away here. Just know it’s worth the read.

This book is THICK but she is dark and delicious! I kind of wanted to throw my book at the MMC a few times but ended up loving him! The emotions this book put you theirs is insane, it’s literally so dark but worth it. One of my favorite dark romance couples for sure, can’t wait to see their story continue. I really loved this book!
Doubt I’ll stick around for part 2. I skimmed most of this one because the inner monologues were lengthy and repetitive. There were lots of scenes that appear unnecessary, like the club, unless it’s needed for part 2. So much of this book is unrealistic. The only saying grace is that the fmc didn’t fall for mmc easily, unlike what usually happens in these types of books.
First of all I want to take the time to acknowledge what an Incredible author Rosi Rust is. The way she created this story with care, intelligent and a profound knowledge of her characters but also the overall arc of the story. The twists and turns are incredible and so well done with clues put all over the chapters in front of very naives readers.
Also the characters were incredibly well written with gut wrenching back stories showing us how the trauma of our chilhood can make us the person that we are. Ella never feeling worthy of beautiful things, craving the love, attention and validation she never received from her parents. Gant was such a complex character, i feel I can't really talk about him without spoiling an important part of his arc. The chemistry between Ella and him was electric, sizzling and profound.
I loved how diverse Gant's group of friends was, with mixed race person, asian, curvy girl etc it was really refreshing.
The ending of this book 1 was heartbreaking, I can't wait to read the 2nd book, learn more about Gant's mother, see how Gant and Ella's relationship is going to be able to get through what went down and read more about Aria, Etienne, Stassi, Zedd, Halle, Bae, hopefully each of them will be able to have their own books.
This was one I couldn’t put down. It grabbed me right from the start. Your heart breaks quite a few times, to have it put back together with Gants obsessive quest to get his Little Dove. The untouchable, suddenly wants to be touched, and will happily give up his kingdom, just to break her and make her his. It ends on a cliffhanger and I'm straight away jumping into the next book, as I HAVE to know. An epic enemies to lovers, with some pitch black scenes, morally grey characters and a plot twist that will have you SCREAMING.
So glad I stumbled upon this book! The plot was so good with a sprinkling of spice and the twists and turns kept me wondering who I could trust.
I love a MMC who is unapologetic with his devotion to the FMC. Whether that devotion takes the form of bullying her, lusting after her or loving her. Gant is all those things and more. He owns his crazy and wears it like a badge of honor.
Eloisa has always felt less than and never enough for anyone, even the people who are supposed to love her the most. She is drawn to Gant, but her inner voice keeps telling her she’s not enough. Even through all the humiliation that Gant as put her through, either with his own actions or those of his minions, she is still drawn to the boy she met at the dance studio several years prior.
The bullying in the beginning of this book is brutal. Especially what Gant did to her in the auditorium. It even made me cringe, and I don’t do that very often. Make sure you check your triggers!
The book was very well written. The characters were well written and compelling. I loved the heartbreaking back stories of Elle and Gant. I could really feel how their childhood trauma changed them into the people they are today, especially for Gant. Even though it was mostly misplaced, I could understand why Gant was out for revenge with Elle. I was intrigued by the secondary characters and can’t wait to see how their relationships play out.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. The cliffhanger was heartbreaking! Gant and his Dovey need a HEA! I would highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a morally grey MMC who’s out for revenge and a curvy FMC who deserves to find love. Great job Rosi, I look forward to reading more of your books in the future.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
1. I can not wait for book two as this book does end on a cliff hanger and what a cliff hanger!! These two need their HEA, I can't say that enough.
2. Trigger Warnings people - read them and take them to heart - this book has some dark moments and deals with some very dark and heavy emotions and situations. Take care of you!!
Now how to the this book! it was amazing! Gant and Elle meet, sparks fly and then combust and then the world burns.
What's left in the ruin two years later is Elle not understanding what happened two years prior or how Gant believes it all her fault for all the wrong reasons. How she did something on purpose for reasons that she wasn't even aware of. Elle of course didn't mean to burn his world to the ground and she certainly wasn't doing thing for the reasons he believes she was.
So now he is out for revenge and to make her hurt and to turn her as inside out as he is. While she just wants to live a better life at an Elite school that she has suddenly been granted a scholarship to.
But Gant and his rich, elite friends rule the school and make her life hell! Bullying is a nice term for what they do to her from day one.
The characters in this book are so real - even the side characters who all have their own plots and stories going on (I hope we get a series of books, so we can keep up with these characters). The emotions are thick and real.
Do yourself a favor and get this book! Take this journey of passion, guilt, revenge, and learning how to let it all go.
I'd like to say first and foremost, make sure you read the triggers listed and heed the warnings if you're not comfortable with those subjects (the beginning of the book made me cry, it was so brutal and painful to read).
Now, onto the characters, Gant, the MMC, and Elle, the FMC. I hated Gant for awhile because of how he behaved and treated Elle, but I did warm up to him and ended up loving him. He's completely unapologetic with all of his behaviors. Elle just broke my heart; she never felt like she was enough for anyone, then Gant piles on top of that with his stunts, further adding to her misery. Trauma doesn't forget you, nor do you forget the trauma.
The story is well-written and enjoyable, but it is quite a dark story. The characters and world are beautifully detailed, and felt so life-like, with a great pace.
I wasn't ready for that cliffhanger, so now I'm waiting for the next book, because I'm dying to find out what happens next. I'm cheering Elle and Gant on, everyone deserves a happy forever. Thank you for the ARC, I loved it.
This book had me in all kinds of emotions swirling all over. I couldn't get enough of Elle and Gant - like holy moly, one of the best Bully, enemies to lovers I've read recently.
I was high and then I was low and then my heart was double pumping with every page I read. I was smitten with this story since the first chapter and from then on ... game over! I was a goner for this story.
I felt for Elle because this truly was a rags to riches start of a story. She came from nothing and Gant had everything he could possibly want, but they both lacked the love their parents. They were both alone. Then one night tragedy strikes and Elle is the one to be blamed for it and that's when Gant's hatred for her starts and will stop at nothing to get his revenge on his little doll.
Guys, if you like bully, enemies to lovers romances, give this one a try - if you haven't already, I promise you will be as entranced as I was.
Holy cow…. Absolutely amazing. Before starting this book I was in a slump, starting several books and not finishing. Nothing just grabbed my attention. This book? These characters? Grabbed me from the first few paragraphs. Before I had finished the first chapter I was already recommending it to my friends. This book will not only capture your attention it will keep you entranced. Constant twist and turns, second guessing your own thoughts. Character development galore. This is definitely a spicy book, the tension will have you screaming, but there’s also a story line that’s fun to follow. Side characters you want to see more of, it’s bring you into the book, into the head of these characters just enough to think you have it all figured out. Just to realize you don’t. Whatever you do, don’t hesitate just read it. You won’t regret it. As always check your trigger warnings! And enjoy
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
65procent.
This book is really good, Ellie believes she has won a scholarship into a prestigious school, hoping to kick start her career as a ballerina, unfortunately for her, two years before she made a choice that didn't just affect her but Gant as well...leading to him turning her into his little toy. To be bullied and hurt by nearly everyone in the school.... leading to that cliffhanger...that's just downright scary...
This book has it all, angst, drama, bullying, spice, hidden secrets and more twists and turns than you expect.
While this book took me a few chapters to get into, by the end I was completely invested..and couldn't put it down.
You will need tissues, a few breaks to stop you wanting to throw your device across the room and probably a couple of drinks.
Swallow Your Sorries is book 1 in the Blue Blooded Boys duet and ends on a cliffhanger. If triggers are a thing for you make sure you check trigger warnings before you start. This is a dark, intense, gritty story that pulls you in from the start and keeps you there until the end. Eloise/Ella just wants to dance. But Gant Auclair who Ella meets earlier is set on revenge in a huge way. When he arranges for Ella to attend the same school for her senior year, he also sets into play a "mean girl" type scenario. Because of events that took place upon them first meeting he feels completely justified in doing the things he does. Problem is he not only wants revenge, he wants her! This book played on every emotion and had me feeling absolutely EVERYTHING! I can't wait for book 2!
Wow, this is definitely a favorite of the year!! The ending had me in shock and I’m already so excited for the second to release! This was a bit smuttier than I thought it would be, or maybe it was just the detail that had me surprised. But anyway, I loved this one! At times it felt poetic the way details of emotions and realizations pieced together for Elle (mostly). The ending had me gasping and wanting to cry at certain lines. I seriously can’t wait for the next one. I would LOVE to see stories with the side characters, they’re all so interesting especially in how they connect to each other.
I absolutely devoured this book in a few nights, and it was so good! Rosi writes an amazing dark romance, with twists and turns that I did not see coming at all. The push and pull between the two main characters was so well written, and I loved the psychological mind games they are playing, and yet they were still drawn to one another.
This does end on a cliffhanger, and I am so desperate to read the next book - but it's not in a bad way, there is simply just more to come and I will be buying that second book the second it's available. I am already missing Elle and Gant, and I can't wait until they're back. Naturally hoping for a happy ending for them, but with these two... who knows!
Ummmm excuse me… I need more. This book sucked me in, Elle and Gant, two enemies but then lovers. Gant made me so mad, but then I loved him and now I hate him. Elle, I can relate to I wear my heart on my sleeve. I will help anyone that I can, and all I want is to love and be loved in return. I could not put this down, the characters, the plot, the suspense, the imagination, the dreams and let’s not forget the smut. This book was fantastic…. But I need book 2 like right now.
Enimies to lovers, bully, boarding school and more! Once I started reading, I quickly became invested. This book took my emotions on a roller-coaster ride. Hurt, sadness, revenge, guilt, and brief moments of love and hope. Ella and Gant, wow...the tension between these to was crazy. All I can say is hang on!!! I think it was a great book! We are left with a cliffhanger, so be prepared.
This book is part one of a duet and therefore NOT a standalone. This is the first book in Gant and Elle's story. This book is deliciously dark and twisted. This is my first book by the author, but will not be the last! I was hooked right from the start till the very last page. The characters and world are beautifully detailed, and felt so life-like, with a great pace. I loved the heartbreaking back stories of Elle and Gant. That cliffhanger ending was brutal! I cannot wait for the next book!
I couldn’t put this book down! Wow! This is dark romance perfection. This is a new author to me. I loved the drama, tension, secrets and the twists. There was never a dull moment.
Elle and Gant have excellent chemistry. The push/ pull was incredible. Loved watching their relationship develop- the banter was incredible.
The last chapter was a blur! Can’t wait to see what comes in book 2. Definitely hooked
This story pulled me in and did not let go into until the last page the mmc is unhinged and I'm here for it the fmc is strong she tugged at my heart stings so many great side characters she is chunky but the bullying the intrigue obsession the mmc has for the fmc i will keep you reading check your trigger warning
What a great book. It captured and kept my attention really quick and I mean I was hooked! I thought Gant and Ella were a very … interesting couple. I loved how he'll do anything for her, and I mean who doesn't love that? It was definitely worth the read.
I received an advanced copy of the story and am voluntarily leaving a review
Just need to say I read this book months ago, I didn't know my review wasn't posted but I still think about the messed up sh!t that happens in this amazing twisted book. I love it so much! The cliffhanger at the end had me pissed. I'm doing a reread in the next few weeks. I don't do rereads ;) that's how good this book is though
This is the first book in the Blue Blooded Boys series. It’s an enemies-to-lovers, bully romance set in boarding school. It’s an intriguing story that had me on the edge of my seat. Gant is unhinged crazy! The chemistry between him and Ella was hot. I enjoyed this book.
In a book slump and like the bully trope? I would DEFINITELY pick up this book and start reading it like yesterday. Cause it sure as hell got me out of my book slump.!5 stars all around and can’t wait for the next book!
This book was really entertaining. The hero Gaunt was the way I like them jealous, obsessive and completely unhinged,he shocked me more than one time but I couldn't get enough of his craziness.
I liked to read the evolution of his relationship with Ella. The bullying was quite hard to read at the beginning so it was nice to see them evolve develop feelings for each others, their moments of vulnerabilities and tenderness.
The books ends on a sad and shocking cliffhanger, the second one will be quite explosive. Also I'm really intrigued by all the secondary characters especially Etienne and Aria i would love to read their tumultuous forbidden love story.
