Stuck together with a swoony firefighter in a haunted house? There are probably worse ways to spend Halloween night.
All Harmony wanted was to take some pictures of a spooky old house. She didn’t know she’d get stranded there, unable to escape. And she certainly didn’t expect to have a meet cute with a hardheaded firefighter named Dale, or think she’d have her heart stolen by a dog named Boo.
Now the three of them are on the track of a ghostly mystery that’s been haunting the old house for generations. As they navigate eerie corridors and dodge supernatural hijinks, the danger becomes harder and harder to avoid—and so do the sparks that are flying between Harmony and her handsome, if sometimes broody, hero. But the house keeps its secrets locked up tight, and so does Dale.
Can they survive the night and keep their wits intact, or will this haunted mansion change everything they know about life, love, and maybe even a few things that go bump in the night?
Be My Boo is a paranormal romcom novella with all the cozy spooky vibes but no big scares.
You might not think that an addiction to television would inspire a career in writing, but that is exactly what happened with me. When I was about six years old, my mother “encouraged” me to turn off the TV and pick up a book by offering to pay me two cents for every page I read. It was an unusual strategy, but it worked: soon I was a bona fide book junkie (thanks Mom!). Of course, it wasn't long before I graduated from reading to writing. I write multiple genres of closed-door romance, including small town family sagas with a touch of mystery, romantic suspense, and even a dash of paranormal.

Her POV didn't come in till chapter six so thirty-four percent is her first pov chapter which was different than I'm used to. It was interesting because Harmony's pov is first person and Dale's pov is third person. I did really enjoy this and the spooky elements weren't to scary but still a little spooky. I really liked the ending, and it was really clean as well.
The characters ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Harmony ~ I liked her she was a little weird but in a good way.
Dale ~ He was so sweet and broken I felt so bad for him. He just needs a hug.
Jenner ~ he was ok. I don't really know what to say about him.

My thoughts: I had to fight for every minute of reading time today. This story was kinda cute but some parts were beyond my movie reel imagination so I didn't love it.
Recommend to others: Maybe. It's a quick cozy read.
Memorable Quotes: Kiss a ghost? He didn’t know if that was creepy or cool.
This is a cute story for Halloween. We meet a guy and girl and dog that get stuck in a haunted house for Halloween. They go through many things trying to get out before they are stuck their till at least the next Halloween.
I did not know what I was expecting from this little novella, but this blew my expectations out of the water! There was emotional depth and character development! I laughed, I cried, I had such hope for these two! And Boo is my favorite!
If I could, I’ll give 3.5 stars. This book was a short quick read for me compared to my normal books. It was a good Halloween vibe book.
Here’s my stand, I didn’t get any romance vibes from this book. At the end you’re led to believe the two like each other and want to date but throughout the book there was not much that pinpoint to the attraction they felt towards each other. It was merely focused on the aspect of both trying to escape the haunted house and not getting locked in with ghosts and spirits. I feel that it is forced proximity since they are locked together for a night but like I mentioned there’s the lack of lust or attraction between the characters. Overall I liked the concept of the book
This novella focuses on one reflective shard after another, with the characters--and reader--always unsteady and confused!
Compelled to learn which view is reality, and find out whether the "hero and/or heroine" survive the figurative tornado? Only enter if you're ready for a spooky and uncertain fate.
The "storyteller" toys with every expectation. Every idea is shaken and rattled. Is it a paranormal rollercoaster? Yes. Is it more? Yes. Exactly what, you'll have to decide.
I would not read another story like this, and certainly not a full-length book. Call me old-fashioned; I like a more sane path, and my adventures with less fractured perception.
I decided to throw in one more book in October. Be My Boo by Misha Crews seemed like it could be a fun read. Dale is a firefighter who has been tasked with keeping an eye on an old house on Halloween night. The mayor is concerned that someone may try to break in as a prank and it could be a safety issue. Dale isn’t in the house long before weird things start happening. He finds a woman named Harmony going through his things and they end up trapped in the house over night. This is a quick read. I didn’t connect with these characters. The romance seemed forced and manufactured. The haunting and backstory of it is lame. The cutest thing about this story is the ghost dog named Boo. This wasn’t my kind of book. 2/5 stars. Instagram book reviews @CandaceOnline
This touched more on the emotional aspect, and not so much on the romance. I was caught off guard by the twist in this, and I thought it was done so well!
I think the pairing between Dale and Harmony was a bit out of nowhere though, and I don't know if I see it as something long-term. But, it was cute for the novella. And, of course, bonus points for Boo 💛
Overall, as a short read, I thought this was good. The plot was structured well. Although there were certain details that would've been better expounded on if it were a full-on novel, I think the author did the best she could with this novella.
I didn’t understand this story at all. It didn’t feel like a Halloween story to me. It was supposed to be this paranormal adventure story but it didn’t feel like it to me.
This story was about a firefighter named Dale who was put on an assignment to stay at this house that is said to be haunted. He goes there and he sees this dog named BOO. He also meets a young woman named Harmony who apparently she is a ghost or that something might have happened to her in this house. They go through this house and things happened which I didn’t understand. Dale rescues her out of the house along with the dog BOO. The only thing I liked in this story was the dog BOO.
Be My Boo by Misha Crews was such a super cute Halloween novella! 🎃 It perfectly captured that cozy meets spooky October vibe I love so much. The mix of mystery, paranormal elements, and the festive Halloween setting made it such an easy and enjoyable read.
I really appreciated that it was light on the spice and heavy on the plot. It let the story and atmosphere shine. And Boo! I absolutely adored Boo and how he tied the whole story together. 🖤
Short, sweet, and just the right amount of eerie! Definitely a lovely pick for anyone looking for a quick, festive October read!
“Harmony wasn’t beautiful, but she wasn’t not beautiful” …. Wow, don’t we all want that kind of sweet talker in our lives🥰
I unfortunately struggled through this book. Both of the main characters were childish and unbearable. They were so defensive and easily annoyed (which in turn made me annoyed😃)
The plot was meh. A lot of “it can’t be that simple” to the point of I don’t even know what the fucks going on and how were trying to get out of this house anymore
What an amazing and spooky read this is! It’s the kind of ghostly tale that you just have to keep reading; waiting to find out what unexpected or unexplainable thing is going to happen next. The characters were very believable, and I certainly loved Boo (Blue, the dog - but from where?). This is the first selection I’ve read by Ms Crews. She has a way with words and keeping the storyline flowing. I look forward to reading more of her works.
Be My Boo is a sweet and playful romantic comedy with just the right amount of humor and heart. The story flows easily, and the chemistry between the characters is cute, though at times a bit predictable. While it's an enjoyable, breezy read, the plot doesn’t break new ground, and some parts felt a little rushed. Still, if you’re in the mood for something light and charming with a fun Halloween twist, Be My Boo is a delightful, cozy escape.
This was a cute little read. I loved the plot and how it all can't together. Dale had to relive his past to forgive. Harmony had to figure out what had happened to herself. The only thing I would have changed was getting to see what happened when Harmony went home for the first time.
Um I’m sorry but did I read the same book as all the people giving this 4 and 5 stars?
I’m so confused on what direction this book wanted to take. I know this is a Halloween novella but I didn’t connect with any of it. It was rushed, the conversations were everywhere and the plot was plain boring.
This was a twist on the haunted house story with Halloween vibes. A firefighter, and student photographer, and a dog need to escape the house. Some of them may be ghosts. It was a cute story with a hint of romance but mostly forced proximity.
This was a great spooky Halloween romcom! I got hooked from the very beginning I didn't want to stop reading. I feel the ending wrapped up too quickly, even with the epilogue, but it was still a great read.
Picked this one up on a whim because I wanted a possibly wacky KU novella with Halloween vibes...and that's exactly what I got! Very light romance, this is mostly about the haunted house and the mystery about it. Very fun, and there is a cute dog.
Need a quick and quirky read with lots of unexpected twists and turns, I highly recommend this book. I truly enjoyed the mystery and the unexpected twists. What also was enjoyable was little life lessons that I can use in my life.
It was worth the read. The author can weave a good tale, without useless repetition or thoughtless plot twists. It was a fun departure from the ordinary.
This was definitely a fun read. I gave it 3 stars because a lot of the story didn’t come together to make much sense. But it was a quick fun read for Halloween and there were a few parts that made me tear up a little.
It's short but it is detailed and cute. It wraps up nicely. Very cute story especially around Halloween. I would recommend it to everyone it's really a good little book and a quick read if you need to add to your already read pile!
This novella is unbelievable in a fun way. I enjoyed the whole ridiculousness of it. And there were times I was actually a little spooked lol. If you're interested in a fun read, I'd recommend.
It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good… I feel like it started out okay but then just got very complicated and the writing got very sloppy and kinda juvenile? Idk how to put it, I mean I didn’t hate it so that’s always good?
