Darlin' don't say a word, 'cause I already heard
What your body's sayin' to mine

(That song has been in my head since I put this book on my reader! And oh how appropriate it is for the story.) Slow Hand doesn't waste any time diving into the attraction between the characters, and still gives the necessary backstory to make everything believable. The chemistry between Jared and Teri is instant and intense. One of the things I enjoyed most about this story was how creative the love scenes were... not in a 'wow, that's new' sort of way but that Jared doesn't rush into the "good part" like many stories do, and he fully enjoys Teri's body in ways many books don't take the time to explore in the quest for consummation.

I want a man with a slow hand
I want a lover with an easy touch
I want somebody who will spend some time
Not come and go in a heated rush

(There's that song again.) On the other hand, while definitely hot, there were a few things that bothered me about the love scenes. There's a lot of (what I think is) unnecessary talking. Some talking is good, ups the heat level, especially if it's in the right tone of voice and in the right circumstances, but too much takes me out of the scene. The sex language is also a little overly colorful, not quite purple prose but reminiscent of it. People's skin doesn't taste like candy or desserts (unless you rub something like that on it first) and there are some adjectives I just don't want to see in the middle of a sex scene, like 'turgid'.

All that aside, this was a fun quick read with a lot of heart and one very patient and gentle pirate determined to sweep his woman off her expensive designer stilettos. Teri and Jared have such easy and comfortable chemistry, their playfulness is infectious and makes me want to charter a boat sailing the Caribbean right now!

I found a lover with a slow hand
A lover with a slow hand
And I get all excited with his easy touch
I found somebody who will spend the night
Not come and go in a heated rush

(Now will this song PLEASE get out of my head?! Is it in your head yet? It's all yours - you can keep it!!)

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

A jilted bride and a laid back captain of a luxury boat can only mean one thing. Hot and steamy sex -- and this book delivers.

Both Teri and Jared have had bad experiences in the romance department but when sparks fly - literally - when they touch, each knows they have to see where this will lead.

Grab a tall glass of iced tea and sit back and enjoy the story of Teri and Jared.

A jilted bride hell-bent on spending her honeymoon alone on a boat sailing in the Caribbean.
This changes when she sets eyes on the captain and sparks fly the first time they touch.
Jared McKay's family is cursed. He knows exactly what such a spark did to his father and brother...
The interested reader is soon to find out about the consequences. And if one cares to take a closer look at cover and title of this book there is no need to spell the details out...
So, while it was fun to accompany Jared and Teri on their journey, the ending was a little rushed for this reader's taste.

This is a quick full of scorching heat read in that if you are looking for a way to get the blood flowing on a slow morning than this is for you. This is the first time in reading this author which is always a treat for me. Right away you are going on deck getting introduced to the captain who has his eye on the woman who is boarding. Reaction instant but thinking no action since this was to be for two who are on their honeymoon he will be having for this charter. Not going to allow the shoes though tells her to take them off and she does something funny in my thinking. When he goes to help her they have electricity between them that could probably light up a room. In his family that means something so wary he is. Come to find out there will be no honeymoon but this author still takes you on a trip with sights you will read that will have you curling your toes. The captain Jared is her pirate candy (he can whisk me away to check out his decks) while Teri is not at all hard on the eyes giving him instant reactions continuously. Cursing with these two for the time that was to be for the trip they both find out that they make a perfect fit. No longer denying what that electricity that is shared between the two of them will be a good persuader also for Jared to delve deep with Teri. connecting with a man like she has never done before is the plus on her thinking feeding the feeling side freely. When the trip comes to its conclusion they have found they are more than sated and satisfied with each other and with a great opportunity he wants to do that comes along for his business more than a partner is what you can find out he gets if you take the time to read this juicy morsel for yourself. A bit of warning though if it happens to warm at the time of the reading of this tasty you might want to wait till the cool of the evening to indulge meeting this captain and his guest.

What do you do when you get left at the alter? You go on the honeymoon by yourself. A Jamaican cruise for a week. And what better way to forget your cheating ex-fiance then a sexy pirate? Teri can't believe that she didn't know he was cheating on her with her friend. Captain Jared is drawn to her from the first look. When he touches her to help her on board, the electricity shocks them both. Can the tale of the MacKay men finding their true loves by this electricity be true? Can he make Teri see that they are meant to be together? A great story when a jilted bride is taken by a gentle loving man with a slow hand to bring her back to life. This one will have you glued to your kindle for the very first page to the end. This is a first for my by Bonnie Edwards and I loved it. Looking forward to reading more from her.

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

What a sexy, fun, and romantic read. Pour yourself a drink, curl up in your favourite chair and escape to the Caribbean with this lovely romp of a novella.

This well written, fast paced (for a slow hand), steamy adventure is packed into an impressively short story. My compliments, Ms Edwards

I enjoyed this short read of love at first touch. Teri and Jared made a great pair. I would liked to have had a bit more witty banter between the two. I don't agree with offing the shoes overboard but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. I look forward to reading the next book and maybe seeing Teri and Jared in it too!

Cute story

Cute story

Considering the title Slow Hand the action is fast and sexy. It is a good story where even something normally bad can turn out to be good.

A so-so short story about a woman who is jilted at the altar and takes her honeymoon cruise around Jamaica by herself and falls for the boat captain.

Cute, not super deep... not christmasy -- mentioned because this also part of a holiday anthology.

This is a story of love at first sight - or should that be first touch?

Teri has been left standing at the alter, but still decided to go on her honeymoon - alone. When she embarks on the boat Jared is instantly attracted to her, and when he touches her to help her there is a spark that they both feel, but let slide.

Teri only has seven days and she intends to make everyone of them count with the sexy pirate as she calls him, and it doesn't take her long to seduce Jared, not that he needed much persuasion.

This was a quick steamy read that was maybe just too short but you certainly get a feel for the characters and their story, I just didnt want it to end.
