Locker Room Power: Building an Athlete’s Mind is a powerful new book written by International Tennis Coach David Sammel. In his first book, David shares the step-by-step process and winning formula he has successfully instilled to serve players well on and off the court.
Locker Room Power: Building an Athletes Mind will help you identify the key factors you need to consistently perform at the highest level, exploring the impact LRP has on your performance and how to create that all-important psychological edge over your opponents.
Locker Room Power: Building and Athlete’s Mind draws on David’s relentless drive to help people improve at their game, utilising his vast experience, knowledge and understanding of the mental aptitude required to succeed as a professional sportsperson.
Introduction written by Judy Murray, interviews with Tim Henman and Sam Murray, observations and examples of LRP in practice are included throughout the book, coupled with contributions from leading sports psychologist Louise Scott and from Mark Nesti, reader of Sport Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University.
In taking the time to read this book, you can create your own LRP!
5 stars no question. David has the actual experience working with top athletes and I almost understand the pressure these top performing people feel. Having the mind set it key to go from top 1000 to top 100 and below.
Like he says, when you are competing at the top level - everyone knows how to hit a backend, is how you keep your brain in control is what gets results.
Anyone wanting to teach or play sport should read this book.
“Challenge existing rules and know you can go after anything in life if you put your mind to it”.
LRP is a must-read for all athletes and not only tennis players, from the young to the old and parents of aspiring young athletes. As a tennis parent, I resonated with a lot of the content in this book. The book covers areas such as Dedication, focus, ambition, hard work and how to deal with fear and stress, maximising own potentials.
A book that any athlete should read in order to better understand the mental aspect of competition and how it can help his or her performance. My full review can be read here:
