This Blood Hunt tie-in collection brings together ‘Black Panther: Blood Hunt’ #1-3, ‘Strange Academy: Blood Hunt’ #1-3 and the ‘Hulk: Blood Hunt’ one-shot (which is also in the Blood Hunters collection, oddly).
I really enjoyed the Strange Academy story, although the ending was a bit weird.
The Hulk one-shot was OK, although the editor should have had a word with the colourist as the whole point of this Blood Hunt event was that the entire Earth was covered with pitch black darkforce skies and the skies in this story were very blue.
The Black Panther story was the weakest link, though. Just a mess, story-wise, although the artwork was nice. I said in my ‘review’ of the Spider-Man tie-in that it was the weakest link in the Blood Hunt chain but, on reflection, I think that dubious honour actually goes to this Black Panther story.

An okay book. I did not enjoy this book as much as the other Bloodhunt books.
The Black Panther arc went down a route I was not expecting. It went more mystical as in a war of Marvel/Disney's elder deities. The story was about Black Panther's defiance, but to me, he looked more of a pawn than anything else.
The Strang Academy, with its wacky cast, was pretty much what I was expecting. The students go against orders to save one of their own as well as find another misfit. The line
"From one walking apocalypse to another"
Sums up this story arc perfectly.
The Hulk is not in the main Bloodhunt storyline, but with his character going the more horror path, it was a good choice to add him to a side story. This was my favourite story of the book, but I had already read it in the current Hulk series, so I can't give it full credit in this book. The book finishes with a varient covers gallery.

First up we have the Black Panther mini-series, which features a vampire T'Challa trying to resist his brainwashing at the hands of Blade in the main Blood Hunt book. This one draws on a lot of the mythology that was laid out in Coates' Black Panther, which I appreciate, but it mostly spends time establishing history for Varnae's temple rather than really digging into T'Challa's plight. The art's very detailed though, Farad Karami is one to watch.
Also included is the Strange Academy mini-series, which is actually pretty important if you're curious about the appearance of the Darkhold and the Strange Academy kids in the conclusion to Blood Hunt proper. Daniel Older seems to have become the unofficial Strange Academy writer since the main series finished, and he focuses neatly on a select few kids, as well as introducing a new face to keep things fresh.
And finally there's the Hulk one-shot, which is fine. It's mostly Hulk punching vampires, there's nothing greatly important or interesting here, but it's good fun for twenty pages, and fills out the space inoffensively.

June 10, 2025Borrowed chiefly for the Strange Academy miniseries, which sadly serves mainly to show how crucial that series' initial creative team were to its appeal, because this is a deeply unengaging and generic runaround. Still, at least it makes the Black Panther story look good in comparison, even though that reduces one of my favourite Marvel characters into a bit player in a cramped story overstuffed with cosmic flashbacks. The best thing here is the Hulk issue, but I'd already read that in a Hulk collection, so...yeah.

The stories contained here are all great!
First was the Black Panther story. It was really cool to see how T'Challa handled being turned into a Vampire, and how his history, his gods, and his internal strength helped him to navigate his bloodlust. The artwork, and especially the color scheme was just beautiful and incredibly well done.
Second was the Strange Academy. I've not had the chance to read anything from this lot before, but this mix of characters was awesome, refreshing, and although dealing with heavy issues, had a certain light-heartedness that brought joy to the read. Great characters, great artwork, and a really solid story (especially as it ties into the main storyline.)
Finally, the Hulk solo story. This one, although kind of interesting was abrupt and just mediocre. Not a fan of the artwork, especially compared to the other to arcs, and all in all, it kind of fell flat.

Collected here are three stories centered around the events of Blood Hunt, Marvel's big crossover. First, Black Panther (newly turned Vampire) and his attempts to thwart Blade. The art was stunning but there was too much concerning the African pantheon that didn't actually have anything to do with anything. The second tale was about Strange Academy and how the deal with Blood Hunt and a new recruit. It was fun and felt like it fit into their book (which was cancelled) and the crossover. I really like Pia and her twist along with the kids wanting to help. The art fit the title very well. More Strange Academy is a good thing. The final story was just a solid Hulk vampire fight. It was gruesome and fits into Phillip Kennedy Johnson's run. Overall, not the most important read but Strange Academy is enough to read this on their own.

Part of my low score in this is WHAT appears in the volume and how it all hangs together. Back when I read Hulk Vol 3 of the current run, I noted how disjointed the one-off felt from the rest of the volume (which also contained a Giant-sized issue). Here, it feels at best tacked on simply because Hulk has run across the Strange Academy kids. The SA stuff is fine — it reminds me tonally of Runaways even if it also feels totally detached from Blood Hunt save for the introduction of an anthropomorphic Darkhold. The Black Panther issues at the beginning…I get that they’re trying to lay groundwork for Varnae as the big bad, but the stakes and characters just feel flat and convoluted. Other than getting Bast involved, I’m not sure why this needed to play out in a Black Panther context.

Three very different sets of stories that don't have much to do with each other. I didn't care for the Black Panther or Hulk ones (I'd give each of these 2 stars), but it was fun to keep up with the Strange Academy students (I'd give this 4, but it is pretty formulaic).
It was interesting to see the various African deities in the Black Panther issues, but it seemed to either require some precious knowledge I did have, or it is setting things up for following stories I haven't read either.
Except for possibly the Strange Academy story, none of these stories provided any real insight into the Blood Hunt event.

More mishmash of disconnected stories all just thrown together to (I guess) make a buck. The Black Panther story is fairly good, though a bit weird and overly talky. I hadn't encountered the Strange Academy before and their story was all right, though a bit goofy for the background of the vampire apocalypse. The Hulk story was probably the best, a single issue, moody horror tale told with a Western movie set as the background.

More like Blood snore, a bunch of blood hunt stories that barely connect to each other. To be fair I am not super keen on this whole vampire arch in marvel, it got old quick. The Black Panther story was the most exciting but then really didn't connect very well to the other stories. The strange academy stories are for middle schoolers, I skimmed most of it. The Hulk story was fun but predictable and also didnt connect to much. It is worth skipping, especially as a main event.

The Black Panther story fits very poorly with the overall Blood Hunt arc. At the end of Blood Hunt, it's a surprise that Black Panther fought back against Blade's control.
But here Blade seems to be communicating with the Black Panther while the Black Panther seems to repeatedly work against Blade.
The Strange Academy story is good enough, but they're kind of adrift in the Marvel Universe without their own book. Kind of like Runaways?

It's good background story to the main Blood Hunt story line. There are parts that are very good like the plot around the gods and parts not so great like the plot around the children.

Some OK stories featuring a vampire Black Panther, the Strange Academy kids and the Hulk in the old West fighting vampires. Like the rest of Blood Hunt, it all gets a "meh" from me.

This is, in my opinion, some of the strongest work of the whole tie-in...mess. The Black Panther issues are steeped in African mythology and vampire history/lore. Well written and drawn impeccably. As for the Strange Academy, it's always good to see them give time to those characters even if they seem relegated to 'less than Champions' level storylines. (remember Ms. Marvel, Hulk (Cho), Kid Nova, and Miles Morales teaming up? No?)
We won't talk too long about the 'Incredible Hulk: Blood Hunt' one-shot. Story is...alright? Could be a story you'd read in any pulp horror. The cartoon-ish art style throws me off, though. A full Hulk transformation, but looking cell-shaded? Hard pass.
