Hellhound

Rate this book
Twenty years I’ve been exiled.
Exiled from a kingdom where I was once a prince.
The Undead have ruled in my stead all these years…
Oppressing humanity, oppressing Lycans…
Oppressing anything that dares to defy their bloodthirsty order.
Last night, I traveled to Sygon in order to avenge.
But tonight, I have come home for revenge.
With a pack of Hellhounds under my control,
Each one baying for blood,
The earth will shake from our howl.
Some think I’m a god.
Others, a monster.
Tonight, the full moon will make clear the truth…
I’m both.

First off, I feel honored and very privileged to have been chosen to beta read this book.

I do not give 5-star reviews very often, but Hellhound definitely deserves it and more.

Being the second book in a trilogy, there is an immense amount of pressure for an author to make sure that everything lines up perfectly with the first as well as leads into the third and Devin makes sure that this happens. Normally, I would say that the first book is better than the ones that follow, but in this case, I was gravely mistaken. Hellhound broke a piece of me, but in a good way!

When I read Bloodlust, I completed it in less than 24 hours and I thought that I would do the same with Hellhound. As I started reading, I realized that I would not “rush” and take my time to give genuine feedback.

One of the MANY things that I enjoyed about this book was the fact that there was a verbiage and character glossary, as well as a recap of Bloodlust. It almost reminded me of “Supernatural” when the writers put “The Road So Far…” and trust me, you will be glad that little refresher is in there!

This book is broken into three parts and since the book takes you on a ride for a 24-hour period, the little pauses are necessary. From the very first word to the last, this continuation of Syrus’ story grips you with such imagery and emotion, that you feel like you are walking along side of him. You feel his anger, sadness, doubt, joy, heartbreak, and so much more.

There is plot twist after plot twist that has caused me to cuss at my screen, write messages to the author just to delete them (because I over reacted and didn’t read far enough ahead), make my husband look at me because of the gasps/outbursts, and even made me literally laugh out loud.

Just when you think that you know what is going on, you realize that you aren’t as smart as you think you are.

If I had to pick a favorite part of this book it would be EVERYTHING that happened in the third section.

The journey that Bloodlust & Hellhound take you on is incredible.

I absolutely cannot wait for Bloodbound and do not be like me, read Huntress because you may miss a thing or two in Hellhound if you don’t!

WOW!

I honestly didn’t think this book was going to top Bloodlust going into it, but I was very happily mistaken! I absolutely ate this book up!

I love that the author wrote the events of this book to take place within 24 hours! Hellhound picked up directly where Bloodlust left off, and it ends in a perfect way to set up the last book in this trilogy! The timeline and breaking the book up into 3 parts helped with the quick pacing of the story. I appreciated that for a 400 page book!

I am pretty sure I felt every single emotion that I could while reading this book. I cried, I laughed, I got excited, I was angry, I think I screamed a handful of times too. The author did a great job with the writing of this book!

I cannot wait for the final installment of this trilogy!

PS- The last epilogue made me soooo happy! And if you want to understand all of my excitement, go read Huntress first!

READ YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS

Holy bloodlust batman!!!!! This book y'all THIS BOOK! When an author writes a book, that turns out to be a series I'm always petrified that anything after book 1 will fall flat and/or dissapoint. THIS IS NOT THAT! If anything Hellhound outdid Bloodlust, and y'all......u have a quote from Bloodlust tattooed on me, that's how much I loved it.

The twists and turns in this book will make you want to SCREAM at your book, throw it across the room then apologize for not trusting the process! The plot twists are genius and the writing is impeccable.

I cannot wait for book 3, and also highly HIGHLY recommend reading the prequel Huntress for backstory, deeper understanding and introductions to characters.

🔥 “Hellhound” by Devin Thorpe was an exhilarating ride from start to finish! Thorpe once again crafts a world brimming with action, deep emotions, and unforgettable characters. The tension was palpable, the twists were jaw-dropping, and the journey kept me hooked with every page. The main character’s resilience and complexity truly stood out, making this book an absolute masterpiece in the series.

The determination and growth continue to amaze me, and the stakes felt higher than ever. Thorpe’s ability to blend thrilling action with heartfelt moments is unmatched. This story truly cemented my love for the series!

OmG, every time I think it couldn’t get any worse for Syrus it does!
Poor guy can never catch a break (or learn his lesson)!

Let’s get in to it:
Character development is amazing, we are introduced to so many new characters and you either love to hate them or just plain love them.
We learn so much in this book, Devin Thorpe gets a 5/5 for the most jaw dropping revelations in one book!!
Honestly, I’m still processing it all….
And that epilogue?!
I CAN NOT WAIT TO START DEADLANDS!

It has been a while since I have loved a series as much as I love this one. Finishing Bloodlust I did not think it could get much better: BOY was I wrong. Hellhound was MINDBLOWING. I hated having to stop reading. The fact that I got it as a BETA is still unreal to me.

The flow from book 1 to book 2 was something I absolutely loved. You don't lose any time in-between. Book 2 starts the same day book 1 ends. I LOVED THIS!!

This book is divided into three parts (which I loved) and takes place over a 24 hour period (WHAT?!?!) This book had me hooked from the very first page!! This book had me laughing, CRYING, and yelling. My emotions were EVERYWHERE!! Just when I thought I had the ending figured out EVERYTHING I thought changed! I love a book that keeps me Hooked and on the edge of my seat the entire time.
