Promising new series!

This fun short story introduces us to Cassidy Carmichael, a feisty young lady full of energy and snappy repartee. She and her business partner run a maid service but it is Cassidy who seems to do all the work. Hired to clean a motel room, she soon finds herself confronted with a dead body and that serves as a turning point for everything in Cassidy’s life. I encourage anyone who enjoys a light-hearted read following the misadventures of a spirited main character to grab a copy of this book and get in on the beginning of what I am sure will be a highly entertaining new series from a well-known Amazon best-selling author (and tennis pro) who has given us the highly popular Ryan Bodean, Troy Bodean, and Chris Collins adventure series, among others, all of which were winners in my book.

The joys of modern technology. I do most of my reading on an Android Tablet from Samsung. When I click on this e-Pub file in the folder system it opens in my Nook App. When I try to re-open the book in the Nook App I’m told the file is corrupt and can’t be opened. (Read, I didn’t buy it from B&N, it was a freebie, thank you David.) And having read the entire novella Nook can no longer make that claim.

This reads like the introduction of a crime series it is. Nick Sullivan makes Cassidy Carmichael an offer she can’t refuse and in listing her curriculum vitae he omits mentioning her embarrassing past as a lady of the night--she had to eat.

Author David F Berens with the short story, Secrets of the Dead introduces one to a cheeky snip of a girl, Cassidy Carmichael, that one cannot help but fall in love with.
Perhaps also the most unusual girl that you will ever come across what with her studying a degree in Forensic Pathology. Of course you will deal with a lot of dead people as such, but then, never try to take her on physically thinking this little snip is helpless. No, her father taught her a very quick and dangerous way to knock you in seconds.

This short story is an introduction of a somewhat quirky, yet feisty, young lady trying to find her niche in the world. So far, not so successful, she seems to have a knack (?) for finding dead bodies. A chance encounter with a young enterprising detective appears to be the stepping-off point for an appropriate career. I’m hoping this is the start of an intriguing series.

Written by a well known thriller author, it follows Cassidy Carmichael as she is embroiled in her investigations as a forensic pathologist. There’s more to come in her frenetic new career.

An intriguing short story that will leave you smiling, but wanting more. Cassidy Moonbeam Carmichael seems like a delightful mix of Darma from the Darma & Greg TV series with a touch of Abby from NCIS. And Detective Nick Sullivan? We’ll have to wait to find out more about his character.

This was a fun read as Cassidy and Sully slowly reveal themselves to each other and to the reader. In keeping with her parents she could easily be described as a current day hippie. But maybe Sully’s job offer will change the trajectory of her life.

The main character Cassidy is a woman not to be trifled with and oh her quick wit and smart mouth is bound to get into trouble!
